Jadeveon Clowney on Why He Signed With the Cowboys

Well, it’s never too late to add some new additions to the roster, especially when they can come in and immediately make an impact. And that’s certainly what the Dallas Cowboys did this week uh today actually with adding Java Clowny. And Jadeon, I mean, I’ve got to ask, how does it feel to be a Dallas Cowboy? It’s exciting, man. Uh you don’t know this. This is going crazy because growing up, all I heard about the Cowboys all my life, all my family and rivalries and stuff. So, uh to be here playing for the Cowboys, it’s exciting. I’m looking forward to the opportunity. Have they already gotten a chance to get some Cowboys gear? Oh, yeah. They they got it already. They already had it before I got here, all them fans. But, uh, yeah, it’s exciting, man. I’m excited for the opportunity, um, to be back playing and, uh, just having fun. And you’re joining a staff or a team where, you know, a familiar face with Brian Shottenheimer. He, uh, spent some time with the Seattle Seahawks when you played there. Just talk about, you know, the relationships and how, you know, much you guys kept that going and how that played a role in you coming here to Dallas. Oh yeah, he was a great coach in Seattle. Uh the guys loved him. Uh energy guy and uh when he got here and gave me the call about coming, I was like, “Oh yeah, you know, I love to play for your energy well. You know how to take care of the team.” And uh you know, I believed in that and uh that was half of my reason I wanted to come too because I I was uh played up on play with him before and I knew what he already was doing was a good system. So for me to come down here and be a part of it, I was looking forward to it. You actually took a visit here last week and what kind of struck you from this Brian Shenheimer team when you first got here? I mean, look at Brown. Uh, I’ve been like this my seven team and I ain’t seen nothing like this yet, you know, uh, with the organization as far as the way they taking care of their players and everything. So, uh, yeah, when I walked in the building, I was like, boy, these guys are spoiled here. So, uh, I’m looking forward to that. And just playing great ball for the Dallas Cowboys, man. That’s the That’s really what we’re looking forward to. And we are too. But something that stood out to me was uh Stephen Jones saying that you look like you could still be a first overall pick at 32 years old. What have you done to kind of stay in shape and be football ready? I just got to give a shout out to my guy Ben Frih for the last six or seven years. Him and uh Tokco been just taking care of me, keeping me in shape out there in Houston and uh it’s been paying off and I’ve just been ready to go lately. What’s something that you already like about this Matt Ebles defense? you’ve gotten a chance to kind of watch them. They play the Eagles, also played the Giants. What stood out to you the most? I go forward. Uh last year I did a lot of dropping. And uh that’s not my strong suit covering. Of course not. When you uh big to go forward and made to go forward. So uh when I came here, he said, “You probably won’t drop none.” I was like, “Oh my god, I’m looking forward to that.” But uh yeah, I get to go forward a lot more than I did last year. So I’m looking forward to just rushing the passer and having a good time. and being surrounded by some guys in Kenny Clark, you know, so Diggiza, uh, Solomon Thomas, you just a few names in there. Uh, just how much does that make it easier for you as a pass rusher? Oh, yeah. As soon as Ken Clark signed here, I uh I told my agent, I was like, I think that’ll be a good move for them. They got a good secondary. They got good detackles. They just need a good hand for me and I need to be there. So, uh, I was like, hey, see, can you make the call and uh, can we make something happen? get me in Dallas and uh I’m

When Clowney was coming into the NFL draft back in the day he was suppose to be the next jj watt like the dude was nasty in college just a beast and his career hasnt got to be what it was meant to be but if dallas can do something this year then he can have a good ending for his career . And with clowney and then overshown like we going to get healthy and get better
