Friday Fireworks | Royals Rumble Blue Jays with Franchise-Record Performance

10 days remain in the regular season and the Toronto Blue Jays are on the cusp of returning to the playoffs. Here’s how the Blue Jays can clinch tonight. They must beat the Royals, the Red Sox Tigers and Guardians all in action tonight. If two of those three teams lose the Blue Jays can be the first team from the American League to punch their ticket. Michael Lorenzen who returns to the road after briefly being sent to the bullpen. He like so many pitchers sply this year for Kansas City, spent some time on the il career high in batting average for Springer this season as he turns 36 years of age, another 22 from Lorenzen and Springer with a drive to deep left field. Adam Frazier going back ball is gone a leadoff shot for George Springer and the Blue Jays are off and running number 30 for Springer at age 36 1, nothing Toronto. The best way to give yourself a birthday present with the is with the birthday bomb. And on a night that could be very special for the Blue Jays. That’s the way to get it started two outs and that brings up Edison Barger, a ground ball through the middle diving shot on his feet to throw and out at first base. Terrific play by Bobby went to his left, he was on his knees to glove the ground ball and Then to his feet in an instant and loaded a one hop throw to be Patino and the Royals will face Max Scherzer, the future Hall of Famer who might be auditioning for a spot in the Blue Jays postseason rotation and that will get down for a base hit. It’s cut off by Dalton Varsha but Jensen Scampers into second with a leadoff double for Kansas City. I can only imagine what it feels like to be him and he grew up just right down the road, went to high school in Kansas City 100 and six off the bat and it sets up Bobby Witt Junior here for a base hit. Here comes Jensen third. He will score and the Royals have tied the game. Bobby Witt Junior second in the American League behind Bobis and hits this season has another one and the Royals have tied him. So now Pasquin hitting 265 there goes wit pitch down low throw on one hop the second, not in time and wit is in scoring position with still nobody out in the bottom of the 1st 2 to 2. Paquin goes the other way and that is down into the we will score and the Royals respond right away to take a 21 lead that was just an elevated four seam fastball on the outer third and Vinny Pascu Andino does a great job going the other way. Hammering that thing into the corner. Another run an RB I for him. Scherzer said again, 32 payoff pitch just off the corner. Maybe it caught the inch but Scherzer did not get the call and it’s a walk to Garcia. Paul Walker is gonna come out and chat. I knew Paul walker is gonna get tossed out. He’s gonna fight for Matt Max pretty quick ejection max is the one that wanted to argue balls and strikes. And Paul walker ends up being as proxy runners 1st and 2nd 1 less pitching coach in the third base dugout and Salvador Perez at the plate. Perez one deep right field to the track to the wall, three run home run. Salvador Perez his 30th of the season and the Royals have five runs here but four and out in the bottom of the first, it’s 51 KC Salvador Perez showing off that power. What a swing from him. But the damage done in a big way so far in the first inning, 51 Royals. Adam Frazier on first Michael Massey to the plate and this is right by us one explosion for the Royals in the first and on a potential clinching night, it’s disaster for Scherzer that little curveball from Scherzer and bass. He’s always had the ability to hit homers here at Alex Disaster of a first in for Max Scherzer and it’s hit in the air to center Barsha going back and he can’t track. It’s a ground rule double for Jensen and his second extra base hit of the inning. And now 12 games, it’s six extra base hits for Jensen and the Royals here have done enough to chase Max Scherzer out of the game. Still in the first Kansas City leads right now. 7 to 1. Max Scherzer has only allowed seven runs in a game once before seven runs in an inning. I should say stunning stuff. Nance comes out of the bullpen for the Blue Jays. So there’s the first out in the bottom of the third inning and now back to the top of the lineup and red hot Carter Jensen Jensen might have another as he smokes this into the gap. Cag Leone scores Messi behind him three doubles tonight for Carter Jensen and it’s 91 Kansas City. Wow. Before the game, he was given the Royals minor league player of the year award two outs now in the inning and he Pasquin bats with Jensen on third. Paquin finds a and the Royals have 10, 5 hits with runners in scoring position tonight. A remarkable night for the Royals offense. No question. They came in hitting 209 with two outs and runners in scoring position. Michael Lorenzen is back on the mound and ready to face Vladimir Guerrero Junior and guerrero chops to the left side witt sliding backhand stop to his feet outfield grass on a he got him Bobby win. Junior Dazzles once he made it look easy once again. So smooth, so fluid, so good and maybe so gold for a second consecutive season one away in the top of the fourth check. Swing by Kirker dumps the bat and walks down to first. He’s the first blue Jay not named George Springer to reach tonight. Marsha pops it up shallow left, center field. Win ranges back from shortstop and adam Frazier comes in from left. He makes the catch Marsha’s out that ends the inning. Lorenzen retakes the mound in the sixth, not only with a 10 to 1 lead, but he’s only thrown 68 pitches. There’s a diving stop from Massey at second to take a base hit away from Lucas one gone in the sixth. Massey good game offensively. Of course, you’re going to do it defensively as well. Stepping a dive, set your feet. You have plenty of time, especially at second base. Throws him out by three steps. Guerrero is zero for two tonight with a couple of ground outs to Bobby Wood. Junior Lorenzen deals. Guerrero goes around. It’s the second strikeout for Lorenzen tonight and Guerreros, another guy really difficult to punch out that sweeping slider swung out and missed strike three Lorenzen got him with a cutter a 123 top of the sixth for Michael Lorenzen. He is through six innings. If they throw john Schneider out , he absolutely did not get his money’s worth. John did get tossed out. That’s it for John Schneider. He goes, he gets a walker fourth ejection of the year for Schneider. And what has been a disaster of a night pitching wise? It’s a party in the clubhouse. So no more pitching coach, no more manager tomorrow Hale has taken over a position player on the mound. A catcher Tyler, he is pitching for the Blue Jays. Another pitch hitter, Luke Maley steps to the plate does not play the defensive spot. Another pitch hitter, Luke Maley lines the first pitch he sees into center base hit coming home from third Bobby Wood Jr May with an RB I single. It’s 11 to 1 for the Royals two outs in the bottom of the seventh and that brings up Jack Cag Leone. Now his first pitch is hit high and deep by Cag Leone right center and it’s gone homer Jack Clione 14 1 Royals bottom of the seventh. This has got ugly quickly although it was relatively ugly before that 31 home run, whatever the postgame meal is going to be for Michael Lorenzen , it’s gonna taste good still out there. It’s probably steak beef. There’s a high fly ball, a fly ball right center over comes briick to make the play. So two out and that’s going to do it for Lorenzen seven and two thirds. What a night for Michael Lorenzen, he’s going to earn a standing ovation for the crowd here in Kansas City. The Blue Jays trailing the Royals 14 to 1 and it will be more Tyler Heineman on the hill for Toronto. The bases will be loaded, not sure that Heineman shoving. And now the first pitch to me is lined down the left field line, fair ball rolling into the corner. India scores scores stopping at third base Tolbert two run double, mainly who has three RBS all off Heineman. The Royals shouldn’t be just going to town right now hit after hit another hit. Adam Frazier with a line drive into center Tolbert in to score 17 to 1 who is this entertaining to and it’s a soft toss at this point. Now 18 to one major league baseball should step in and say , hey, if this guy hasn’t thrown X amount of pitches in the last 24 hours, he needs to pitch in this ballgame before you use a position player. Even with expanded rosters. Teams are pretty much encouraged to have this happen though. The Blue Jays looking to get out to get this game over with 19 for Kansas City. Remember Massey had that two run homer in the first part of that seven run inning. He swings at the first pitch and shingles to left and a run is in so 20 runs and they’re gonna take Heineman out of the game. I think the Blue Jays down to their final chance here down 20 to 1 as you do it, ball game, a blowout at the nine. Toronto gave an opportunity to clinch and they’ll have to wait at least one more day. Shin numbers galore and a route for the Royals.

The Royals pummeled the Blue Jays to the tune of 20 runs on a franchise-record 27 hits in the series opener!

  1. If only we played like this earlier in the season. There is no way people were getting frustrated that the royals were hitting easy pitches at 40 miles per hour… what do you expect? Them to get strucken out everytime? Things like this happen not very often and with more popular/better teams and people dont complain.

  2. Too bad they couldn't have done that in games sooner. Theres no qay they make the post season because they will not win every game going forward. Good season though KC!

  3. The pathetic Royals celebrating trash time wins after missing the playoffs and the Chiefs starting 0-2

Let's hope the Missouri river can wash y'alls tears away this year because it's gonna be rough

  4. Good things and bad things to take away from this game as a Royals fan, I think the trades and moves from minor leagues this year were the correct moves to make. Jensen looks incredible, grichuk looks like a great rotational piece, Maikel stepped up big this year. We dealt with a lot of injuries and I think this team is gaining that chemistry just a tad too late bc of it. Ik there’s still a SLIGHT chance we make the playoffs but highly doubtful, one hell of a year boys!
