Do You Have What It Takes to Make an NHL Ice Crew? | Making the Cut with the LA Kings

I had to forego my eyehadow and eyelashes to be here on time, but it is what it is. You look amazing. Thank you. I do, too. Hi. There you are. Make sure you grab. [Applause] [Music] Perfect. Thank you. How are you? Good. How are you? Good. All right. So, registration is open. And it sounds like we have a pretty healthy line out there. Today we are here looking for our ice crew for the 2025 26 season. We have a healthy list of participants coming in today. They’re going to do different rounds of improv, showing their energy, showing hype moments, uh, showing us their best Go Kings Go moment so that when they translate in game, uh, they’re up in the stands. They are cheering with the fans. They’re hyping everyone up so that uh, we get the the best home home ice advantage. They’re also critical for our community component. They are very important for the extension of our organization and brand. They’re are overall hype and ambassadors for the LA Kings. We have about 15 returners, right? 15 to 16 returners. Um, and we’re looking to take 22. So, like return. Oh, it’s Oh, no. Absolutely not. Say that again. Returners are not locked in. Good morning. Howdy. Let’s go. Come on. Good morning. Hi, sunshine. Today, we’re looking for them to show us their personality, what it’s like to get 18,000 fans fired up in the arena. [Applause] Oh, whoa. Good morning everyone. I was going to say just have fun. Keep up the energy. You guys got it. Dance party. It’s like thank you for spending your morning with us. Thank you for waking us up. That was like the best surge of energy we could have hoped for. We want to see your personality. We want to see what you can bring to this organization at our games, in the community, on and off ice. Right. Every one of these people and judges back here, we are rooting for you and we want to see you succeed today. Right? So with that, please support each other. Show us who you are. That’s all you need to do today. We’re going to do our Delta noise meter, which is about a 25se second time to really get the fans out of their seats. Vic one, let’s get them going. And you guys, let’s get them going. Go. Go Kings. Go Kings. Go Kings, go. Go Kings, go. Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome. Let’s go. [Music] [Applause] And that’s it. We were That was so much fun. Now the judges go deliberate. That’s the hard part. Deliberation happens. I don’t I’m glad we’re not judges. That’s too hard to decide. I took copious notes. Oh, you did? Oh, copious. That’s a big word on a Sunday. I’m going to Google what copious means cuz that’s pretty impressive. I think I did actually really well. This is my third year. So, actually third year auditioning. So, it was a little scary because I know everyone and because I feel like I did a good job last year, but for me, it was nice to get back into it and then also meet everyone, too. It was so much fun. Honestly, it was a little overwhelming. The energy, the judges, and I had a great time with these two, so I couldn’t ask for anything better. To me, she outshone your returner. She did. She looked better than the returner. I thought your returner did well, but I thought she did better. He was a classroom teacher. Yeah, he was he was he had good energy. He was a yes for me. Okay. Seven was a no for me. Jenny, it’s kind of on the fence with her, but I’d like to see her around two. 24 was a guy named Jacob. Woodworking guy. I’d like to see him again. Yeah. Take him to the next round. She was drama. She was drama. She was drama. What I love, I just want to say this. Sorry to slow you down. Is that coming here and also working with your team is the diversity. It is so cool. Body sizes, ethnicities. It’s really cool. So, I I love the idea of what you’re doing with the young lady before. So, or a couple bucks. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, I just had to say that. Thank you. We just discussed who we want to bring back for the next round. We’re going to inform those who we’re not, and then we’re going to bring those who we are bringing back into the improv section so we can see their personality shine. All right, everyone. Thank you. Thank you so much for bringing your talents, your energies um up until this point. It has been such a great experience so far getting to know um each and every one of you. Uh we are going to call numbers. Number one, number two, number four, 28, 31, 32, 43, 45, 47, 103, 104, 87. Thank you. [Applause] Well, I just want to start off by saying thanks for coming out today. Um, really excited to see what you guys got. We’re going to be starting off with the coaching portion right now. It’s looking pretty good. We got a lot of uh people that came out this year. We split them up into six groups. Each group I kind of assigned a veteran HD team member to kind of, you know, run the station, keep an eye on the uh people in that group as well. What we were looking for is for, you know, people to kind of step up and explain drills, that kind of thing. All right, let’s move into passing passing drills. [Music] [Applause] So, today is day two, our final interviews uh with the group. Again, we’re looking for a well-rounded person. Someone who is not just an amazing performer in game, but these are the physical tangible individuals that are out in our community. 8 10 12 14 16 18. Um, should we go obvious? Yeah, I think no. Yeah, I agree. Okay, we have Jacob, our fabulous woodworker. Those two are better than that guy. Yeah, maybe. That girl I don’t think was a yet. I think she was she was she was one of my lower maybe. Who’s a definite yes from here? Uh really good today. I liked Ivana. I had 51 as a yes. Ivana was green. Ivana was Yeah, she was good. Was she good experience with her? Okay. And I would take her over Yes. her. Yes, I agree. I wasn’t here for I wasn’t here for performances. She’s more like cheer. Yeah. Um I’m I’m okay saying goodbye. Yes. I think this is a very strong group. All right. This is our team. Yeah. Cool. We get a really great turnout every season that I think is a result of us investing in our staff. We go above and beyond to make sure these professionals are well equipped to be successful on game day as well as a community, but we really put in resources to make sure that they have the tools to do so. And I think that’s really what sets us apart from other teams and other organizations where you might not get that much of a robust experience, but that’s something that’s very very critical as a part of this team. [Music] [Applause]
