Coach Rod Brind’Amour’s 2025 Pre-Camp Speech

It’s an honor for me to be in front of you. I was thinking about this as I was coming up here. It’s going on eight years now and it’s it’s a privilege to be along for the journey that we’re getting to start started today but on the ice tomorrow. So you guys that have been here, you should know what I’m saying before I say it if I’ve done my job. Why? Because it’s not just words, right? The words have come to life. They’re in your blood. And for the new guys that are in here, it is just going to be And it’s up to us, and I keep pointing to you, your front row. Appreciate it, to make sure the new guys that are in this room learn quickly that it’s not just fluff and it’s not just words and it means something. So, what’s the expectation? Easy. Easy. Right. We’re here as an organization. I love that the room that seems to keep growing is on the outside. We keep getting bigger and bigger, more and more people to help us, but it’s the the expectation is to be what? the best team possible. Not just possible on the planet. That’s our goal right now. That’s what the expectation is. So that’s the easy part. How to do it. How are we going to do it? That just goes by our identity. And I’m going to get into that. We got three races to run in this journey. And I haven’t talked about this really much a little bit. Got a twoe race right now. Twoe race. It’s a training camp race. And it’s trying to figure out the bus, trying to figure out whose seat, where the seats fit on the bus, and how we get this thing streamlined so that it hums when we get down the road. That’s what the training camp’s about, figuring that out. And then we’re going to hit, and this is what we talked about before, we’re going to hit that marathon race. And by the way, it’s the same distance for every team. Every team’s going to be lined up in two weeks going, “Hey, we’re feeling pretty good about ourselves, and we got to get down there.” And it’s the same distance. If I tell you today after this meeting that I’m going to Rightville Beach, I’m taking I40. It’s the most direct way. I know it. Done it a thousand times. I don’t even need a GPS. Right. That’s what you guys have done. We know the way. We know how to get to here to there. Doesn’t just happen. We got to take each step along the way. So, when we line up for that race after this training camp two week session, that’s the that’s the middle race. It’s a marathon. But you got to take each step. Each step. But we got to live for today. We make every day that we’re together and apart and on the bus count.
