Brou is out on Aaron Rodgers-Steelers, Colts QB1 competition remains a question | FIRST THINGS FIRST
Now, no bull zone sponsored by credible. Great rates. None of the bull. Aaron Rogers still getting used to his new helmet and new team, but Jaylen Ramsey say he still got it. Despite throwing for 300 yards just once in his last 40 games, anyone buying that Rogers can still deliver. I’m out on the Steelers. What? What? What? What? I This is what I said about predictions week. He can’t resist. Why 49? No, I’m starting to think about it. Brew, what are you doing? I am and I mean you want me to answer the question if I say yes two days ago. I know what happened. I’m feel Look, they’re the third best team in that division definitively. You were 55 prediction is two weeks away. But right now I am steadily moving toward the Bengals. Yeah, it’s still fluid. But I I am I He’s at 41. We’ve seen some video, all of us. He looks very slow and he’s going to need that offensive line to give him great protection. I don’t think he’s going to get it. And the run game, I think, will be okay, but not phenomenal. So, I I just look, I have faith in Tomlin and his coaching. I’m not saying first losing season. This is my fault. You were flirting with that before. I was flirting with this. My fault and Nick took it. Was such a good tape. That’s not it. Oh yeah. I have There’s no tape. I had Dusty scrging through the through the, you know, looking for stuff. I owe the show and the audience an apology because I I shouldn’t have done it like a week ago. Remember I ran that montage of all the times Brew kept picking the Aaron Rodgers to go to the Super Bowl to win division with Super and Brew and Right. And then and and now and now we don’t even have sus suspense for predictions. You never jump it in front of it’s two weeks two weeks to go. Well, he’s not going to get the thing that’s so vivid. I feel like all off season you beat the drum for him to go to Pittsburgh. I did. And what a great fit that would be for him to finish out his career. And now to hear you say this, I don’t I don’t know how to react. I know. I’m shocked. Look, it was the best place for him to go. It was the best move for the Steelers just because nobody else was out there. Had to go. Right. Right. Um, but I just I think they could still win 10 games. I just think they’re the third best team in the division. Yes. All right. But if they could win 10 and miss the playoffs, but they could win if they can win 10, they can make on the board. Okay. All right. Thank goodness. Uh, I’m a I’m a hard no. I thought he was I thought of all the rankings in that Mike Sando quarterback tears, I thought his was the most ridiculous. I think having Aaron Rogers at 15 sandwiched he was Was it eight? Was it? He was 15. He was No, he was 16. Pardon me. Because Kyler was the first person in tier 2. It was Kyler, then Aaron. I forget who 17 was. Um but it had hired in Gino. It had Yeah, Gino was 17 and then it was all the young guys. I think having him ahead of like expecting Aaron Rogers this year to be better than your guy Drake May, my guy Caleb, Bo Nicks, who a lot of people like. He was ahead of all of them. I think is crazy. He’s 41. He turned 42 during the season. He hasn’t been He hasn’t had an above average season in four years. And so like I and listen I think DK Metaf is a really good player. I also and tell me if you disagree with me coach stylistically the receiver that obviously Aaron had the most success with Devonte is a historically great technician. You know what I mean? Like he the not he’s obviously a great athlete and all those things but Devonte is about routes and releases and hands and all of that. DK Mechaf to me is such a different type of receiver where I don’t even know if he’s a great route runner. I certainly wouldn’t describe him as a technician. It’s just he is he’s the combine photo that he had it come to life. Like I’m bigger than you. I’m stronger than you. I can run faster than you. And he’s a great player because of it. That to me is not the type of receiver I expect Aaron to have a great rapport with. Like I I’m not saying he can’t throw it deep and but you know what I mean? And so I just don’t see that that’s a great fit. And so no, I don’t think he’ll be able to deliver. The thing that’s so intriguing to me about this situation is everything in New York was changed for him. Everything was designed to allow him to be successful. And now with him going to Pittsburgh, he’s got to humble himself and he’s got to change for them. He’s got to be part of their culture. I don’t see I there’s going to be some conflict with him and Arthur Smith in terms of of scheme. They’re not going to do all the things that he wants them to do. Why do you think that, coach? Because because I I feel that was one of the rubs with Russell Wilson and and why Arthur liked Justin Fields more. He he has a belief in what he thinks works. Aaron obviously has a belief in what he thinks works. Now, at the end of the day, it’s Mike Tomlin’s decision as to what what they do. But but what’s so fascinating is will he go in this final year and humble himself, be part of the team, and will that in some ways be the catalyst that he needs to actually find some of what he used to have as a manifest like just quickly because we’re up against the four:00 break, but how does that manifest on like a play-to-play basis? He’s calling plays that Aaron doesn’t want to run. Well, that there’s things that you can do that that guys a guy like Aaron has done his whole career, okay? And if you you should really build the playbook or the scheme to what he does well to maximize his talents, but there’s some coordinators that they want to do what they want to do and and they have a belief system as to what’s most effective against that defense, but it may not be what’s most effective for that guy. So, so the smart thing is to do what Aaron does well. There could be some rub here where those guys are are fighting in terms of what they want to get done. You’re right. That’s not gonna work. Justin Herbert comes in at seven on the QB rankings and we welcome the one person who still thinks it’s too high or too low. Too low. Way too low. Colts open QB competition has turned into a game of not it. Neither Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson have made this an obvious decision for the coaching staff. I think this is an indictment on Daniel Jones. like they they paid Daniel Jones, they everything they’ve they’ve done, their actions have said, “We really would rather not go into the year with Anthony Richardson as the starter.” And then the preseason comes and three plays in, he gets lit up and gets hurt. And so every opportunity for them to be like, “Hey, it’s Daniel Jones’s job.” has been there. And they won’t say it. And from what I understand from reading the reports is because at training camp, Daniel Jones, and this is gonna shock people, coach, you know, he’s looked a lot like Daniel Jones. I mean, like, you know what that reminds me of? The guy who’s played quarterback with the Giants. What was his name? So, yeah, I don’t think this is an example of two quarterbacks who are just, you know, killing it and they can’t make the decision. It’s quite the opposite. I I disagree. with with a quarterback competition, you want to go through as much as you can to try to get to the right decision. You know, the old adage, measure twice, cut once type of thing. And unfortunately, I don’t think that even a week from now, they’re going to be happy with either decision. I don’t think anybody’s become the clear-cut favorite. And I I would imagine organizationally the general manager really wants Anthony Richardson to work out and Daniel Jones was brought in as the the safeguard, you know, if it doesn’t work out or if it continues to look like what it looked like last season. And for him to go in this first preseason game and get lit up not knowing where the protection is and where the hot the hot blitzer is coming from to me screams that there hasn’t been very much progress. But I I would bet that throughout the course of the season, we’re going to see both those guys play because they’re going to be disappointed with both of them. But organizationally, they desperately desperately want Anthony Richardson to work. It’s just not working. Yeah, I think it’s a terrible sign that Jones has not taken the position. I agree with Nick in that. I think they wanted Jones to come in and be the starter, not Bridge, because I think I agree with you in that I think ultimately they want Richardson to pan out, but they know he’s not ready. They felt he’s probably not going to be ready this season. So, we got Jones there and then Anthony can keep learning and developing and maybe next year. No, I get it. But he was a complete project and has only played 15 games. And the fact to me that Daniel Jones cannot definitively beat out a guy injured. Anthony Richardson, injured, completes 50% of his passes and only played 15 games and already didn’t have any experience coming out of college is an indictment. Like I don’t think Jones has even looked like the Jones with the Giants. As bad as that was at time, he did have moments with the Giants. They thought if we get that Daniel Jones, then it’ll work for you. have a a player there that you want to let let’s say that was the plan to bring Daniel Jones in. You don’t want to totally shut down Anthony Richardson. Okay? So, if you come in and and you say there’s a quarterback competition and then a week into it you’re like, “Oh, Daniel Jones is a starter.” Anthony Richards is going to look at this and say, “You never gave me a legit legitimate shot. Didn’t go long enough.” So, then he could easily be like, “Okay, you don’t care. You know, you’re not you’re not giving me the chance that you promised me.” and and and that could negatively impact the relationship for a long right or wrong. You think that’ll be the pro like let’s say Jones is does end up the starter. They don’t announce it till a few days before the regular season. Do you think that would be a problem with Richardson or he’ll I think it’s going to be less of a problem because then you could objectively say we gave you every opportunity to win this job. He’d objectively beat you out and then as a player you’re like you can handle you’re not happy but you can handle it better. Thanks for watching.

It's not because he's 41… it's the amount of terrible injuries Rodgers had, broken clavicle, torn achilles etc.. he's a beat up 41.. he's going to feel all of it… unless Docs' shoot him up with horse juice ' to get through season
These dudes just hate Rodgers
And Brou has got to stop choosing with his heart' he's losing. picking Ravens, Pacers etc..
Every time I listen to mangini he just sounds out of touch. Love the show but they Speak from opinion bias a lot.
Are we really still pushing this narrative that the bengals are the second best team in afc with no defense and they get swept by the Steelers and ravens every year?
watching this and they jus named jones as the starter 😭😭
I want Arod to have 1 last great season I really started paying attention to football in2010 and my favorite non eagles player ever man is the most talented QB ever
The Steelers are going to get smoked like bratwurst sausages with Rodgers at the helm..
A bunch of clowns around a table and they get paid to spill nonsense
He’s an idiot
7:57 and Daniel Jones was named the starter 😂 aged perfectly coach
Good clip!
Not me watching their take after Colts naming Daniel Jones the starter lol
Another segment hating on Rodgers
The reason brou is out on Aaron is because the rumors are starting to swirl about how bad he looks in preseason
At this point the Rodgers hate is forced
If the Browns cut Sanders he will go to the Colts or Saints
He had Adams and Wilson and was average. Idk how Pittsburgh is a better situation other than the line.
How are Steelers third best team in that division? What have the Bengals done to make you think "Oh they are better than last year". NOTHING.
Mangini cant coach why does anyone listen to him? He is a nother dead branch from the billicheat diseased coaching tree!
Title spoiler! 😡
When criticizing his play over last few seasons, it's being discussed as though the drop off in performance is strictly due to a decline in Aaron Rodgers' talent/skill level…as though everyone is seemingly forgetting that Aaron dealt with a low ankle sprain and a broken toe in 2021, that he played with a broken thumb on his throwing hand in 2022, that he suffered a severe Achilles tendon tear in 2023, and that he sustained an MCL injury in 2024…
And all coming directly on the heels of Aaron Rodgers winning his THIRD and FOURTH league MVP awards, with the last two being consecutive, in 2020 and 2021.
It's fair to say, as of this moment, that you don't know if he'll be able to return to the same level after suffering these injuries, but to act as though the decline is strictly related to his capability under center… I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous.
Will Howard stock is BOOMIN
I can't believe they got rid of Russell for old Arod, and Steelers don't have great skill players around him either. It's all name and past success at this point. Even in Aaron prime he had a hard time winning the NFC title.
4:47 Coach Mangini is 100 % right, in NY, Rodgers was the king. Not the same thing in Pittstburgh, PA.
The way they all constantly switch but lose their sht when brou switches is crazy..Nick wrong tries to be cute with it and weirdly refers to the teams as “girlfriends” and think that means he can just switch who he roots for whenever
Answer me this how are they the 3rd best team in that division when if you go back and look at last 4 games vs Ravens Steelers have won 3? an that was with way worse QB's then Rodgers.
Do people actually think Aaron or the Steelers will be any better with the other?
HaBiBi🙋🏽♂️
AppRoVed✔️
0:54 every reason he listed applied to the Jets last year, and he was so high on them 😂😂🤣
Shoutout to Mangini for the weight loss! Always cool seeing people get healthier! Looking great coach!
Bengals Glaze is Daily on every show
Talk about basketball
GARGAMEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Neither team gonna make the playoffs
In all honesty Rodgers had close to Josh Allen's stats last year and he was coming off a nasty injury just facts
Tell me why people act like Aaron has any real juice left but Russell Wilson is fully washed. Their careers have been very similar the last few years, but everyone hates Russ and loves Aaron. They're practically the same!!
They always say the Steelers are the bottom of the division and it NEVER happens Steelers have always and will ALWAYS run the north.
Bro when will you guys talk about the ravens and the cowboys i need to see THAT MAN BRU in the robe with a sandwhich potatoe chips and the soda pop🙏
Bring each of your wives and partners and let's rank them. Ridiculous stuff guys. If you are this bored honestly at least put odds on how quickly Nick wright loses millions of dollars. Nick hates Short quarterbacks we should short his position..
Rogers has been “relevant” in years. He is irrelevant. Oh Brock Purdy!
STEELERS SUPERBOWL!!!
Can you guys PLEASE cover some nascar content
