San Francisco Giants vs Los Angeles Dodgers (09-19-25) MLB Game Predictions, Picks and Best Bets
[Music] This is a big one for sentimental reasons here. And I had Giants money line last night. It’s 90910. Robbie Ray and the Giants at plus 146. Clayton Kershaw making his final home start in his major league career. He announced he is retiring after 17 years. And the Dodgers at – 165. Total of 8 and a half. Some juice to the over at minus 120. So, Kenny, last night I I mean, I like the Giants here. Robbie Ray is exponentially better right now than Clayton Kershaw is. There’s just no ifands or buts about that. Kershaw’s done and he’s retiring at the right time. But this game, it’s difficult, right? Like, I don’t know how to approach this. There’s going to obviously be a lot of emotion at this game. There’s going to be tributes. The fans are absolutely going to be behind him. Hell, some of the other players on the other side, I’m sure, have a ton of respect for him. So, I don’t know how this plays out. I just know that in terms of, you know, you don’t see this all the time, but in terms of emotion at a baseball game, this game’s going to have it. So, I don’t know what to do with it. In a vacuum, I would say Robbie Ray Kershaw, the Giants are mispriced here. They should probably be, you know, this should be closer to a pick them in my view. What do you think here, Kenny? Dodgers, Giants. Uh, says answering the first question I see in the chat here, even though I just typed it, uh, Jack Faulk asked, uh, for Q&A, uh, is Clayton Kershaw a first ballot Hall of Famer? Um, absolutely. Yes. It’s not 2031. It’ll be not even close. And I’m And I would be I think I would be royally pissed off if if it wasn’t if it wasn’t unanimous. I know there’s always that one voter that just, you know, you know, has some some doodoo in their butt. Yeah. Yeah, some of the some of the some of the Kershaw stats are are are genuinely insane. The one that I saw yesterday and I don’t know why like I like really going through my uh Yeah, here it is. Okay, so obviously look Kershaw’s had an amazing career like no doubt about that. I don’t think I realized just how ridiculous his numbers were for for the entire stretch of his career. Clayton Kershaw in 2800 plus career innings has a career 254 erra. Like that I I I I didn’t I didn’t know it was that low. Over the course of 2800 innings, 254 erra. Literally one of the best pitchers of our generation. He’ll be a first ballot hall of famer. And yeah, I I guess I guess I am going with the the sentimental value here. But as uh as Brad Pitt said in Moneyball, how can you not be romantic about baseball? Clayton Kershaw over four and a half strikeouts. Hit it. Yeah. And uh I saw Dixon Cider saying, “Really? First ballot Hall of Famer yet?” I mean, like, tell me you don’t know Ball without telling me you don’t know Ball. This guy’s been the best pitcher in baseball over the last 20 years. Not even close, quite frankly. He’s absolutely unquestionably a first ballot hall of famer. And if you don’t know that, like you just haven’t been paying attention. Bdub, what do you think on this one here to the emotion? Am I wrong in saying like in a vacuum here, the Giants would be theest of dogs with Robbie Ray versus Kershaw? Kershaw just doesn’t have it. Uh, what do you think here, Bub? No, you’re you’re right. Um, I I I would agree with you. In fact, the model has it minus 108. So, you getting plus 141 for your quote unquote official play, uh, that’s really good value. And I I think that it’s hard to get over. And and I agree with you guys both of what what you said. Yeah, there’s there’s really no debate. You know, he’s he’s unquestionably a first ballot hall of famer. You know, I used there used to be a commercial on serious radio and it was Vince Skully and he’d be like, I’m going to try to do this. The Dodgers bring out their best and Kershaw gets the start. And he was been the best. He was the best for the Dodgers for, think about it, this organization, the best pitching in in in baseball. And he was the best for for many years for the Dodgers. So, I don’t think that that there’s a question. Now, having said that, he he’s not the best uh from a location standpoint. Uh he’s in the 1 percentile. And I mentioned listening to the game with John Miller, who I really respect. I love his analysis. And I listened to the first inning of that game where he allowed four runs Kershaw did to the same team Giants. And he not only did he allow the runs, but the Giants uh from John Miller were missing pitches that were just he said, “God, these pitches, right? He’s missing his location. and they’re right down the middle and they were missing pitches. So, I I don’t think that that’s going to happen. You know, the Giants offense, not the best in baseball, but they’re certainly formidable, 10th in baseball. And I think that what you have here is an over. You know, the one thing I’m going to go ahead, my official play is the Giants over three and a half uh team total. That’s going to I’m going to tie that into the base winner parlay. You know, I put it out uh at at plus 206 uh or I bet it rather at plus 206. I think I’m getting plus 190 uh on on the show officially and and I’ll take that. Um one of the things, you know, we talked about uh what you talking about Willis last night squeezing the zone. Well, this guy who’s going to do the plate tonight, Lance Barksdale, he’s the third highest base winner over umpire. He’s got the third lowest strikeout percentage in all of baseball, all of umpires, and the the third lowest strikeout percentage and the third highest walk percentage. I think that’s going to be tough for for the guy who has a 1% location number tonight. And then if you’re looking and the reason I I can’t go with the Giants today, Kyle, is Ray’s loc you talk about location problems. He’s and and he’s he’s consistently bad from a location uh standpoint, but he’s in the lower quartile as well, 18 percentile. I don’t think there’s anything wrong though playing like a an underdog over parlay. I’m not going to personally do it for the show, but I might personally do it for my bank account. Uh and and I think that uh I think the Giants over is a good good opportunity here. Giants over three and a half. Second leg of the base win or partly, Kyle? Yeah. I mean, initially I had Giants money line plus 146. That was my only play on the sheet. I took it off just cuz I don’t know. It just seems too obvious and baseball’s weird and there’s all this emotion here and I I don’t trust the Giants offense. A lot of weird stuff for this one. Go ahead, Vito. I I wanted to mention this because I you got to look at both sides of the coin. And I thought this was really interesting because I looked at the stuff plus for all of the Dodger pitchers. Uh not location plus. Location wise he’s he’s really awful. But the stuffless is interesting because you got Otani number one uh with a 120 raw Yamamoto number two 108. And I’m in love with the shape of this guy’s numbers and Emtt Shehan 104. And then but then it’s Kershaw at 102 which is better than average. And then Snell and Glass now. Glass now sixth out of the six starters. I don’t know what Corby is looking at, man. Man, he maybe they’re going to squeeze Glass now out of that rotation, Kyle. I don’t know. I find that highly highly unlikely. They’re not They’re not going to They’re not going to do I don’t think so. As much as as much as they may be in love with the shape of the numbers, they’re not going to squeeze out Glass Now, but but I thought that was interesting. of the six pitchers, I I wouldn’t have guessed that in until I looked at it that Glass now over the last 30 days has has the worst stuff of all those guys. Yeah. Uh I completely agree. It’s uh it’s interesting here. A lot of emotion tonight for purposes of the show. We’re locking in Kershaw over four and a halfks for Kenny at plus 114. Then we got the second leg of the base winner parlay. We’ve got the Rays team total under three and a half, Giants team total over three and a half and that’s sitting at plus 190.
