Here with your free pick in the Arizona Diamondbacks versus Philadelphia Phillies Major League Baseball matchup going down Sunday, September 21st, 2025. We got Major League Baseball on Sunday, WNBA playoffs. The NFL is going to take center stage, but we also focus on week five college football coming up. Between the Phillies and the Diamondbacks for the Phillies, it’s Ranger Suarez listed as a starter in this one, while Eduardo Rodriguez will get the nod for the Arizona Diamondbacks. And Rodriguez has been a frustrating pitcher to try to read because a lot of the season he had been struggling. He still has that erra over five this season. Then he had three starts against some tough teams in the month of in the end of August, beginning of September against the Dodgers, uh, Red Sox, and Giants where he gave up a combined one run over 18 and a third innings of work and got three wins there, but then comes back against the Giants at home, a Giants team is not necessarily known for hitting lefties all that well, and gives up five runs on eight hits over five innings of work. Now you take on a Philly’s lineup that, you know, in the month of September against left-handed pitching has improved their standing against lefties to where they’re top 10 in team OPS. You know, they’re hitting 260. The isolated power numbers are decent. They do have a bit of a high strikeout rate, but I still think that the the Phillies are hitting well enough here that they can get to Rodriguez, who I still don’t really trust. And when you look at his home and road splits this season, you know, Eduardo Rodriguez at home still has a 5.56 ERA, a 283 opponent’s batting average. So, I think that the Phillies are going to get to him here. Now, Rangers Suarez on the other side, you know, faces an Arizona lineup that has been solid in their own right against lefties. You know, low strikeout rate, high walk rate, and their team OPS numbers are just outside the top five. The isol isolated power numbers are the best in baseball, which is still solid for a team to trade away a few pieces at the deadline, but has still been trying to compete to maybe sneak into the NL wildard spots. But I still think the Rangers Suarez is the better option here. Six straight starts where Suarez has allowed three runs or less. The bulk of those have been going six full innings plus. And at the end of the day, I still don’t trust this Arizona bullpen, which has a 6.66 staff ERA in the month of September. Philly, I don’t trust their bullpen much either, but I think Suarez can go deep enough in this game that it’s not much of an issue. And at the end of the day, Philly’s bullpen still has been better in terms of, you know, comparing these two bullpens side by side with a 3.88 ERA in the in the month of September compared to that third worst ERA of the Arizona Diamondbacks. So, I’m going to roll with the Phillies in this one and that’s going to be my free pick.
