Baker Mayfield on Buccaneers late game heroics: “Staying calm in critical moments”

All right, Baker, three wins,
three wins down to the wire. You’re 3 and 0 on the
season, but what’s going on? How are you guys getting
these last-minute victories? Guys just staying calm
in critical moments. I’d say, obviously, a
great job right there. You never want to
be in that situation after you’re trying to get
a field goal to put it away and they block it
and take it back, but our guys didn’t flinch,
so a great job there. But offensively, I think our
offensive line, the guys, the mix-up that
we had up there– I thought they
played unbelievable. But we, as a skill group– I got to make some more
throws, and we got to– Let’s go! We gotta have
some more catches. We made it a lot more harder
on ourselves today than it should have been, but we won. REPORTER: You certainly did. It was a team effort. Also had a takeaway and
a score from the defense. What can you say
about how they played? Unbelievable. I mean, they kept us in this
game when we had long drives but just couldn’t end
up in the end zone. But defense played
lights-out today and gave us a
chance right there. REPORTER: But you also had
a great drive with your legs there. You really ran it down the
field for so many yards. You had that
connection with Emeka. I mean, this seems
special, this offense. Yeah, it is. And yeah, like I said
earlier, a lot of guys stepped up today that
hadn’t played a lot of ball, and then Mike goes down. Mek has to move over spots,
and other guys are stepping in. So that’s really– hat’s
off to the coaching staff for getting those guys
ready, and then also for the guys putting the work in
and being ready in those moments right there.

  2. I wasn't a fan of Baker Mayfield when he was in college or before he got with the Buccaneers but he's won me over. He's been playing like a top 10 QB since he got with the Buccaneers. The talent at WR is big part of that but he's been phenomenal. And it seems like his attitude has changed a lot. He finally found a home there in Tampa, Florida

  6. He's better than mediocre, but still not top ten. He's too slow, gets sacked way too much, and has way too many batted throws. He'll take a team to a division title, but I doubt he'll ever get to a super bowl.
