The Bulls just got WAY too Powerful…
The Bulls just got way too powerful. We have a starting roster spot up for grabs between pro four-year project Patrick Williams and rookie Matus Buzzelis. This creates a training camp showdown to the start of this big 2025 2026 season. Hey everybody, welcome to Bulls Digest. Happy to have you here. We got a great show. Competition breeds excellence. That’s just a fact. And we haven’t had that in Bulls training camp in a long time. So, we’re going to break down today who’s got what uh which skills fit the best with uh which rotation spots and who wins the spot. That’s really going to be a blast today. So, but before we get started, please do make sure you hit that subscribe button. I’m knowing that 67 or I’m knowing I’m seeing that 67.5% of you are are coming to check out the channel but aren’t subscribed. Well, you definitely want to subscribe because you want to be up to date on all things Chicago Bulls and we will get you there. Let’s get started. All right, so we know we have a 4-year project and a quality athlete in Patrick Williams. He’s he’s got the skill set. His defensive skills are very apparent and he’s gone against some of the league’s best. So, he does have a bit of a track record when it comes to his skill and his experience and defense on the floor. He’s gone against LeBron. He’s gone against Durant. So, you know, he has the quality abilities. The question is, does this season’s got to take that step up and he has to avoid injuries? the injury bug has really been a problem for him and basically he goes down when we need him most and that can’t happen for the Bulls this season. The second component of that is a young athletic rookie phenom Matteas Bzelis. And Matteas basically fits completely into what Arurus and the entire Bulls upper management wants to see. Young, athletic, uh, transitional to be up and down the court, both high-powered octane offensively and heavy defense. Now, the cool part about these guys that they already kind of come out of the box, they come out of the box with these tools, but Matteas, we’ve already seen some of his skill set from last season. So, the question marks for us that we have are who’s going to take the step forward and who’s going to take the largest steps or leaps for us. We need to look at some of the stats. So, let’s break those down. All right. Well, if you look, Patrick has 25 minutes per game. He averages nine points and he’s about four rebounds. That’s a solid output. That’s a quality output for a guy. The problem is if you’re looking at the rest of the league in our division on that four spot, that’s not enough. We’re going to need a deeper player. We’re going to So, so now we might have two. So, they’re both going to be competing for the spot, but we’re going to need someone whose numbers start to increase as the season progresses. It’s only going to help us and we’re only going to get better if that’s the case. Now, what is what what does he think about himself? Well, in this league, I want to be a really good two-way player, a guy that can really guard the best guys every night. And that’s the challenge. Well, I don’t know about you, but that makes me happy because he sees what he wants to be and and we see that that’s who we need. That’s exactly the type of player we need. That’s the type of quality player. That’s the type of workload we need. Now, seeing that, the question comes to us is what do we as Bulls fans want to see in that four spot? Do we want to see a sluggum muggum four-year project that’s starting to get better athletically but very defensive-minded that takes us back to old Eastern Conference days of a little more hard-nosed you know don’t let him come in the paint really bo bow back or do we think maybe we want to see I don’t know maybe want want to see a little more athleticism a little more transitional run the floor like up and down you know like a very west coast style thing that the you know the golden warrior the golden state or Golden State Warriors do. I mean, that’s this is this is just depending on what we want as a fan base. But what these two bring to it, no doubt, is going to be energy, competition, and the best part and the best news for us as the Bulls fan base is this where we’re at. The moment one of them secures it, the other one will be instantly wanting to get in. So, these are these are what’s again, I said this in the other video, these are awesome problems to have. Competition breeds excellence because let’s say Patrick Williams gets it. Okay, he gets in. We’re extremely ecstatic because now you have a power four-year guy who’s proven that’s going to be able to handle the workload and handle the handle the season. Now, Matteas is coming off the bench and he has something to prove and they’re going to push each other. In pushing each other, we get significantly stronger. Now, speaking of stronger, what does Matteus bring? Well, Matteas brings almost an identical worksheet to what we just saw from Patrick. You’re looking at about because he’s got less less minutes per game. He’s got about nine points and he’s got about 3.5 rebounds. So, you’re looking at almost identical players, but their game is wildly different. So, this is where it’s going to come down to. They can push each other. And in pushing each other, I think personally we become a stronger basketball team and this becomes a youth movement season. So we’re going to find out is it V and is it Williams and is it some of your other guys like Zack Collins? Are is this going to be more of the five-year and north of those guys or is this going to be the young guns? So if the young guns come in and have some cohesion and start to work together and flow, that’s going to be something to see. I’m just saying I think this is going to be an this is at least going to be an interesting training camp. It’s going to be an exciting season because I see a youth movement filled with energy, possibilities, and a ton of athletic talent. The the athletic talent is no doubt there. Now, what does Matteus want to be? How does he look at his work ethic in the NBA? Said there’s no magic dust, people to playing basketball and being a great basketball player. You work, you get better, and you learn. That’s plain and simple. Clearly something we want to hear as Bulls fans. Clearly something we want to see in a young man. That’s showing me that he has more maturity than most people in the league when they first come in. That’s that’s a solid that it’s not just a solid answer. The context of the content is what matters so so much to that. He understands what it’s going to take to get to the next level and he can get to the next level. So now the big question that everyone wants to know is who’s got what? We already know who’s got what. Which skills fit? Both of their skills fit. But now who wins the spot? This is going to be interesting. How how I see it going down is I think coming out of training camp, it is Patrick Williams spot to lose. But if Matteas Buzzelis can show something in training camp and show the coaches that he fits their exact mental scheme for what they want to do transitionally of running up and down the court with both high-powered octane offense and high-powered defense, then it’s truly up for grabs. And this is something that you want to watch even in the coming weeks uh before we get to our tip off at the end of October. You guys got to watch this because it’s going to breed a quality of team. And if the young guns start So here’s the other thing. If those young guns start to gel, they’re going to push the veterans and the we’re going to get the best out of our veterans, which I have not seen in the Bull Stadium for quite some time. So, this proves to be quite an exciting season. But, uh, whatever I think is one thing. Let me know what you think. Let me know in the comments section and let me know, you know, who you think is going to hold down hold down that four spot. Is it Matteas, the young gun with the athleticism? Is it the four-year project in Patrick? You know, that’s it’s up for grabs still. That’s why we’re so excited for training camp to start and we can’t wait. So, just make sure Oh, by the way, before you leave, make sure to hit that subscribe button because you want to be up to date on all things Chicago Bulls and we will keep you in the know. So till next time, see you

Matas is no longer a rookie. There is no competition between mats and Patrick. Patrick has lost this competition. If he wasn't on a guaranteed 5 year contract he'd be gone. Your comments prove you know next to nothing about basketball.
Patrick sucks
What are you talking about
This team blows
Enjoy being 11-14 in the east for the next ten years
Woah. The negativity. Patrick hasn’t lived up to the heights lofted upon a #4 pick. But he’s still useful. He really needs to work on being a killer. He’s got the motor to be an absolute pest on both ends, but just lacks the instincts. I predict he will get better. His development is just slower than it should be. He’s now only turned 24.
Who is it P Won'ts job to lose when he doesn't want to start he's comfortable matter of fact he prefers lol playing off the bench
Ma-tay-us? What in the world? Is this AI?
My theory is Matas it’s going to be developed into a center. Why else would we be going after Kuminga
Bring on the young guns go bulls
we're finally out of play-in
Who TF is Matayus 🤦🏿♂️ Matas
