TIGERS POSTCAST: STUNNING! Detroit Tigers LOSE AGAIN, SWEPT By Atlanta Braves | 6-Game Losing Skid
This is the Tigers Post Cast, your instant game reaction for the Detroit Tigers, part of the Locked On Podcast Network, your team every day. This team does not care. We’ve screamed at the general manager. We’ve screamed at the owner. And this one’s on the team. We got to finally talk about the players out there that seem to not give a flying you know what if this team just melts down in epic fashion. Welcome into a live lockdown Tigers postcast. I am your host Jake Rema. You can follow me on Twitter, Jake_Rma and this is your postgame destination. And for the last seven games, this has been your postgame therapy session because the Tigers continue the losing streak and they are in the midst of the most epic collapse in perhaps Detroit sports history. This will go down as arguably the worst display of Tiger baseball in the most disappointing season maybe in my lifetime, probably yours as well. And like the last seven postgame shows, we probably won’t get into a ton of the X’s and O’s and plays that happened on the field because it’s about the identity of the team and allowing themselves to choke away one of the biggest leads in division in in baseball history. So, as always, your comments are welcomed. Make sure that you like today’s video. Go ahead and subscribe to Lockdown Tigers if you haven’t already. and we’ll just continue to suffer through the Tigers 7game losing streak. Now, the Guardians lost today, so you still have a one-ame lead in the American League Central. How about that? As always, I’ll have my biggest talking point, our turning point, and our player of the game. And for the last, as I’ve mentioned time and time again, the last seven episodes, it’s been brutal to get through. But I appreciate everybody tuning in each and every day after the final out is recorded right here on the Locked on Tigers postcast. We begin with our biggest talking point and I’ve probably already said it, but I’ll say it again right after this. This is what you’ll be talking about. There’s funks, there’s losing, there’s losing streaks, all that happens. It’s a part of competing in sports at every level, especially at the highest level. But what you can’t tolerate is the quit, the lack of desire, the body language, all of it, of just accepting it. Guys aren’t pressing. It just it’s it’s, you know, there’s the conversation for a bit in this losing streak where, hey, maybe guys are pressing, trying to do too much. But this afternoon, it just looked like they didn’t even care. They didn’t give a you know what. And you put there’s a couple of instances I can point to that prove what I’m saying right here. Tigers get two on and nobody out in consecutive innings and then two on I believe it was in three straight innings. But at one point Jav Bayz is batting in a three 0 count and just wildly swinging. Why are you not doing every possible thing to get on base and help your team win? They just don’t care. There’s no other explanation for it. And then what does he do? Of course, he grounds into a double play. There’s no fight in this team. I I would honestly feel better if someone had a crash out and a meltdown. At least it would show they cared. But this team, everything we thought they were for the last five months, just proven completely wrong. And there’s a three-game series in Cleveland to change all that after an off day tomorrow. So maybe we’ll And it’s so funny because Andy Durk said this, and I’m not picking on him because what the heck is he supposed to say? What the heck is anybody supposed to say? Like I said, this is a a choke of epic proportions, but after all of this, the Tigers are still in the driver’s seat. It’s just insane. I mean, you could not try to lose a division in the month of September the way the Tigers have. And I’m sorry, there’s so many comments. I want to get into them. And Travis Wayne is feeling how I am. I don’t even know what to say anymore. That’s what it is. Thomas Rotandi says, “AJ has to be the worst manager in baseball the last two months. How do you justify Trey Sweeney or putting a rookie pitcher in with a key game in the season?” Let’s go there. And I understand there’s a couple of questionable pinch hitting from manager AJ Hinch. Sweeney one of them. Two on there and he pops it up in foul territory. We don’t even get a chance to see what’s going to happen. Charlie Morton was designated for assignment today. Let’s think about that for a second. That’s who Scott Harris tried to sell us as the big inseason acquisition. Didn’t work out. DFAD. I mean, you talk about the worst in season acquisition and it’s Charlie Morton and it’s I’m sorry I don’t want to pick on Charlie Morton because he’s a great guy. He went through this with class. He just didn’t have it anymore. It’s not on him in the sense that I don’t think poorly of him as a person. Like I said, he handled everything with dignity. He just doesn’t have it anymore. He’s not he’s a big league pitcher four years ago or whatever that Astros World Series with AJ Hinch. But what we were sold to believe was this huge, you know, trade deadline where Scott Harris is just the smartest guy. He knows he knows better than anyone. We couldn’t possibly fathom. And it just wasn’t that. This city is this city deserves an apology. Again, it’s hard to believe that the that the the Tigers could go on and still win the division based on everything that’s happened. Teroo is going to pitch on Tuesday so that he can pitch again on Sunday. So, back-to-back starts on four days rests. What a time. That’s the best thing I can say. Cool. Blue 71 says, “This is what you get from ownership, which does not spend sufficiently even when a team’s first half record suggests World Series bounce season.” Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Let me put that back up. Cool Blue 71. That’s the best way to say it. Mike calls them the Mottown Oxygen Thieves. They are. They’re stealing the air from everybody. Thomas Rotandi, I’m with you. Screw Chris Illich, Scott Harris, and AJ. Tyler Patterson. The Tigers can’t win when they don’t score any runs. is in scoring position earlier in the game cost them. It did. Um it’s not like the Braves were much better too today, which again I I touched on this a couple episodes ago, the whole like tip your cap. Oh, you know, they’re they’re big league players, too. But no, the Tigers with runners in scoring position, two for 13, they left 13 men on. The Braves were three for 10, they left 12 on. Just bad baseball. The Tigers played such bad baseball down the stretch and it is just such a sham a shame. I was going to say it’s so sad and it’s such a shame it came out. It’s a shame. All right. Robert Denduven says, “The Tigers look like they are toothless. They have no grit. Obviously, this team far outplayed their talent for the first three months of the season. Now they are playing their actual talent.” There’s part of it, but I just I go back to the Seattle Mariners, a team that got a shot in the arm with the addition of Uheno Suarez at the deadline. The Phillies get a the best closer in the game. They go on to win their division by 10 games or whatever it was. Teams respond when ownership and the front office believe in them. Scott Harris just didn’t believe in this team. And again, I’ve talked at length about ownership, how I feel, management. Some of it’s got to be on the players, too. Man, this is just I mean, Riley Green two more. He had two hits today, sure. But for this home stand, if you want to be considered an allstar talent and a perennial top player in this league, you bear a lot of the responsibilities here, a lot of the blame. Spencer Toklson 0 for five, four strikeouts today. And for a while, he was the only one doing anything. But everybody, I mean, you can’t you can’t make this stuff up. That’s how bad it is. And again, thank goodness the Twins won, so the Tigers still have a lead in the division. Absolutely pathetic. That’s what Skip Gadbury says. And I agree. All right, let’s take a quick break and we’ll come back with more positivity, more uplifting discussion about our Detroit Tigers on the Lockdown Tigers Postcast. They lose their last four series at Kica Park where they had been so so good and everything that once felt promising about a World Series window, a cruise into the postseason has now become a one-ame race and the most important games of the season still in front of the Tigers. three in Cleveland and three more in Boston. But sevename losing streak, you’re losing games at home. It certainly is tough to be positive. That’s for sure. All right, let’s get into our biggest turning point. Time to reveal where the game was won or lost. It’s the turning point. There wasn’t any one big moment in this one. And the way the Tigers have forced us to kind of watch these games where you’re just in fear. In fear that the nightmare is not only continuing, but the nightmare is getting worse and worse and worse and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. It’s such a helpless feeling. So even, you know, I hate to call an RBI single in the top of the third to make it one- nothing the turning point, but after that that it’s a solo home run to make it two nothing. and you’ve got a single run in the fifth to make it three nothing. And this is where you start the the bleak and the hopelessness steps steps in because there’s just the offense has not shown the ability to score runs in anyway. Everything’s been broken with this team for this final home stand and it’s resulted in six straight losses at home, four straight series losses at home, sevename losing streak overall and a conversation of nothingness. So again, pick one for your turning point. I really don’t have one other than this season has completely turned good. Yeah, we’re still good. I believe we’re back. We’re back. I’m not sure what just happened there, but uh somebody in the chat let me know if I’m back and if you can hear me because uh my screen just went completely black there. Um but I think I’m back in. I have no idea what happened here. Can somebody in the chat let me know if we’re good? Everything looks good on my end. We’re live. We’re live. Okay. So, sorry about that everybody. Um, and I think there’s people just arguing and turning on each other in the chat anyways, which is fine because it’s emblematic of the state of the Motor City right now. Okay, there’s Keen anvil. Thank you. Thank you. I don’t know what happened there. That was bizarre. But Tigers lose. Let’s get into our player of the game. This is the locked on player of the game. I really don’t know who to say for this one. Um, Strider, sure. I mean, he did his job. Spencer Strider, the starter for the Braves, five innings, did not give up a run. And this Tigers baseball team just continues to make the opposition look like Sai Young. The opposing pitcher just comes in here looking like a Sai Young award winner. So, as I mentioned, looking ahead to Cleveland, Ter Schubel is going to start on Tuesday. That gives him an opportunity to start again Sunday if needed. Tigers could already be out of it by then. Who knows? And you just got more questions than answers. Actually, no, that’s the wrong way to put it. Not more questions than answers. I think maybe our questions of this who this team really is, who this front office really is, who the ownership really is, it’s all answered. And last year was a fluke. in making the playoffs having less than 1% chance this year. Also fluky or maybe indicative. I don’t know. It is dark, dark times as a Detroit Tigers fan. Very curious what Scott Bentley’s reaction to all this will be. Check him out on the Locked on Tigers show daily episodes. Um I had all these visions of doing playoff postgame shows. I really did. H but the Tigers get a day off tomorrow. And then it’s the three biggest games of the year with a oneame lead and then three more in Boston. Got to stay positive and I will do my best and again I’m going to read through all of the uh chats because I couldn’t keep up with all of them. But uh appreciate your comments. Appreciate your engagement. And I’m not going to say, you know, it’s over because there, like I said, there’s still the three most important games with Terra Scooble starting the first one. Day off tomorrow to clear clear your head and everything else. But the sevename losing streak, you lose your last four series at Com Park. This team is in one right now in a dark, dark place. But hey, locked on Lions on Monday night postgame show anyways with myself, Natalie Kerwin, and Bradford Bant over on Locked on Lions. If you missed the lockdown Wolverines postgame show from yesterday, you can check that out. As always, make sure you like and subscribe. Someone let the Tigers get cold. They are finished.
Yes, they are in the drivers seat technically, but you're asking them to do something they aren't capable of doing right now and that's winning.
Soooo the smartest guy in the room purposely picked up trash playas to sabotage the second half of the season and on the verge to FAIL a playoff entry. Worst off… completely fail to send up the young talent and help maintain first place in the division. Just feels like someone… maybe this Mafia League… possibly ownership… is holding this WonderBoy back. All ya need is accomplishments with young playas, make your Minor affiliations champions and just about get there with the Detroit Tigers. Call me a selfish Detroit Tiger fan(I don't care) I'd much rather see the Tigers there… but ya can't have it all. Whether ya like him or not, Scott Harris is a method to his madness. Is the Tigers done yet? It's all up to how bad these playas(if not held back) WANT to get that second wind… and have that HUNGER to get there again. Orrrrr this is just as good as they can get for the year. I'm not gonna blame anyone in this organization… it's been a great year… hopefully more… and more to come.
Guess I'll blame those damn umps in NY š
Go Tigers!!!
and keep fighting!!!
I have been keeping up with the Tigers for over 40 years and I can't believe what I see, they can't hit or pitch, pitiful, I am almost done with this team, il
Striking out doesn't matter to the Tigers
Correct, this has been going on since before 2006. They get the contracts and we get the failures.
The Manager of this group of alleged ballplayers is a convicted Cheaterā¦ā¦thatās rightā¦ā¦.a criminal that got away with it and was then hired by a degenerate franchise. There is no way to be respected nor to win with this sort of record.
Has the team ever considered bringing in a trained Exorcist?
The entire team appear to be plagued with cataractsā¦ā¦..
Baez has never cared. He doesnāt belong in baseball!!!
This collapse is proof that Scott Harris isnāt the smartest GM. The trade deadline was an absolute bust. No hitting acquired and he went bargain bin shopping for pitching help. This second half has been the most frustrating baseball to watch.
This is nothing more than a .500 team. We all knew it deep down inside. You can't survive on just Skubal, an inconsistent offense, and unreliable bullpen. This team has so many issues, it's mind blowing.
Finally stopped watching themā¦ā¦ā¦if they donāt want to winā¦..I donāt want to watch them!
This team couldnt beat the west michigan whitecaps right now.
You're right on Jake
AJ Dense better not have Will Vest playing in the Guardians series.
Google should have 18 wins the Tigers never hit when he pitches
They dont care about winning. There tired of playing baseball and just want to be with there families at the end of there season.
At least they DFAād that bum Morton.
The notion that the tigers are in the driver's seat is proparterist
They are in total free fall!
If they lose one game in Cleveland, they lose the tiebreaker!!
Most definitely not AJ fault, he's the best manager for this team, the owner and GM, should have went all in at the trade deadline !!!!!!
Tigers are šļø. But they be in playoffs because it all rigged. Just like the weather. Always warm at Comerica Park with umpires wearing short sleeve black shirts and fans dressed like games are being played in Florida. Be same in postseason. Tigers be in world series and it be 80 degrees here. I guarantee it. Weather modification by the government.
This team has no balls, zero, zip, zilch. No leaders no heart. I freaking hate being a tigers Fan. They get just good enough to get hopes up and NEVER win shit..
Cleveland I think is going to cool off now that their streak is over. Tigers should still pull it out.
Hinch doesnt care, so why should they?
Coach Hitch keeps almost the same batting order no matter if the players get two hits in the game before or ten hits. Is he not intelligent enough to move players around in the lineup when they are in a slump and aren't hitting well
What exactly is the Henchman hoping for with a Sweeney pinch hit at bat?????? How long is it going to take for this club to realize that there is NOTHING there. NOTHING!!!
24 left on base. You should check this for the year. It could be a record
Tigers didn't no way no how try to upgrade team, keep saying the future cause they cheap
Hinch with his stupid ass decisions sometimes. First pinch hitting Sweeny just because you're facing an RHP should just stop right away. Its kill all momentum every time because he's just an automatic out every at bat. Leaving in a pitcher who walks two guys in the final innings with no out is also a dumb ass move. You can't afford to let the game get any worse, especially when you have a day off anyway. Pull his ass and stop the bleeding asap.
Then there are the players, other than Carp the rest are just fucking inconsistent at the plate. Tork with have a good day then go 0 and 5. Wencel is 4 for 44 for his last at bats, Javy getting paid a shit ton just to be another automatic out, and just the shit lineup in general. They can't string hits together always 2 out, a knock and another out. Or 2 men get on base and we go three and 0 after. Its just embarrassing theyre making no so good pitchers look like CY candidates.
Iām not sure whatās worse..
this Tigers meltdown, or my explosive diarrhea? š¢
Please win Tigers š
They could lose the last 6 games as well
AJ Hinch needs to go !!! I don't want him managing all the great talents coming up next year ! He is a loser !
At this point, what can the Tigers do? I say we have our best pitcher Tuesday, scratch out a win, leave Skubal in for 9 if necessary, play small ball, steal, bunt play solid defense, if we can Tuesday rinse and repeat for the next 2 games against Cleveland do whatever it takes
Too many of the Tigers hitters have no plate discipline. They swing at all kinds of garbage pitches.
Bro I didn't know you were so stupid. The first swing it was a strike anyway. So what is the problem? The second swing it was a very good hit without luck. Don't be an asshole and say it was his fault. He hasn't being the best, but worst was ibaƱez, Sweeney, Tork and other players
Here we come kitten cats! Cleveland is coming for you. Are you ready? You got the number one position. You wonāt be needing that. Weāll be taking that right from you in a couple days. Are you ready?
Guys, my Blue Jays are going through the same thing. Hope we both win our divisions.
This is turning into Locked on Pistons from 2023
I dont blame scott Harris, the players are simply not as good as they looked earlier in the yr. They have up and coming minor league good players to replace some of these guys on the big league . Javy baez needs to go . Release him next yr. Other players should go . As well.
still think the tigers are going to win the division.
Iāve watched nearly every game this season and being from the west side of the state even had the privilege to make it to several games this seasonā¦the second game of this braves series was enough I havenāt watched baseball since.
I just feel really insulted with Scott Harris. He chose to do nothing at the trade deadline. His free agent acquisitions in the off-season these past two years have been suspect. Maeda, Cobb, Sweeney, Flaherty, Kahnle, etc. Ouside of Torres, It's borderline offensive and he let the fanbase down.
Scott has disrespected the Detroit fanbase.
One last thing, for all of you kool aid drinkers who call in to 97.1 the ticket whenever the Tigers go on a little run – 3 to 4 game winning streak, no one likes having to listen to any of you condemning us real fans who constructively criticize the Tigers and upper management – Scott Harris when such constructive criticism is warranted. Why do you all have to flaunt every little Tigers winning streak by condemning us real fans who choose objectivity rather than blind faith and hope. Hope is not a strategy. No, not everything is awesome and it's ok to objectively criticize the team when such constructive criticism is warranted.
Jake Riepma and Scott Bentley should not have to apologize to you kool aid drinkers for their objectivity and constructive criticism. I see this every show here on Locked on Tigers and it gets really annoying having to listen to all of you calling in to 97.1 the Ticket whenever Detroit wins 3 games in a row.
Hoping for a miracle here these next 6 games, but it doesn't look good.
I will cheer this team on these last 6 games regardless and hope for the best.
Go Tigs!!!
We need to miss the playoffs. If we squeak in as a wild card, management won't wake up. Missing playoffs will force their hand to wake the ef up.
Only one team wins in sports each year. The tigers are still alive for that chance and no matter what happens they gave it a good go. It has been a spectacularly interesting season with much promise and they have been it the whole way.. It is not over yet. Stop wetting your pants. Would you prefer them being 30 games out at this time? You sports heads are an interesting sorts. You canāt play, coach or adminstrate the game but you know everything. You are very amusing and silly.
