These situations aren’t really remotely similar outside of the restricted free agency piece, part of the Kuminga problem is he first wanted a max and doesn’t want to be with the warriors. Jovic isn’t gonna ask for a mask and I don’t think is actively trying to leave the Heat
Situations really aren’t that comparable. Warriors are in a pickle because of their rough cap sheet and the catch-22 of Kuminga being both a terrible team fit but also someone they can’t afford to let walk for free.
Niko’s playstyle is complimentary to this team and we aren’t in the same terrible salary situation and timeline that the Warriors are in.
The situation this would look more like, assuming Jovic does have a good upcoming season, a cross between the Giddey and Grimes RFA (although I think how the Grizzlies ended up paying Santi Aldama is way more instructive on how the team should treat Jovic).
Niko has already proven he has a role on this team, even if he does need to improve. Half of the problem with kuminga is he literally doesn’t mesh well with the warriors two best players and wants the ball more. I have no idea why the writer of this article felt the need to compare these two situations.

This is not an apt comparison at all lol.
Jovic seems happy playing with the Heat though.
