I mean, why wouldn’t he be?
He’ll play centerfield if the money is right.
Can make more money as even a shitty starter so it makes sense. Weaver finishing this season with almost a 4 ERA makes last season look like a one off though. It also seemed like Weaver doesn’t have the durability for a starter because his entire career is littered with injury shortened seasons. Idk, some team will probably take a chance and toss him a starter contract, 13M AAV or somethin, probably 2.5-3x what he’d get as a reliever. I don’t see him being re-signed as a reliever unless his market craters.
He needs more than fastball/changeup to be an average starter. Changeup is filthy but 2 pitches isn’t enough to get through a lineup multiple times.
Well if he’s looking to start then he’s gone.
So am I.
Dude isn’t cut out for that, but whatever.
The man is 32 years old and likely going to get his only “big” free agent contract ever (unless it’s a 1 year deal). He’s averaged $2M a year, which is a heck of a lot more than the average person, but not all that much more than the league minimum. I don’t blame him for wanting the highest paying job available wherever it is, starting or closing.
Sure worked out well for Holmes…..
Soon to be unemployed man open to job offers
Was the essentially a failed starter when he came over here and then we turned him into a reliever the next season? Last year he was great. This year he has been up and down but not too bad overall. I would keep him in the pen as a long man.
If this is true, I think Weaver is departing the Bronx.
I’ve been saying Mets for a month, it fits there current mo
I’d like for him to stay. He has good stuff and brings a fantastically weird energy to the bullpen.
Not that im sure I wanted him back anyways but its sounding like were going to have to revamp pretty much the entire pen in the offseason (come back to me Jake Cousins)
