New York Jets Fans Just Got GREAT News After Loss vs. Buccaneers

[Music] What’s going on Jets fans? Welcome into the Jets Report. My name is Patrick Seman and coming up on today’s show after going back and re-watching the game yesterday, I got my top five takeaways from that heartbreaking loss 29 to23. And overall, just to give you guys some feelings after the 0 and3 start for our New York Jets. But at the end of the day, I think the Jets probably should be at least one and two on the season, if not two and one. Like, you should have won yesterday. You should have beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in week one. And it’s obviously deflating that the record is 0 and3. But there’s a lot of positives to go off of. And overall, I think fans should be encouraged even though the Jets are 0 and3 uh to start this season. But I ask you guys this. You guys, let me know your thoughts on this one. 0 and3 start for the New York Jets. First three games with the Aaron Glenn era. You guys let me know what is your biggest takeaway from the Jets 0 and3 start. Let me know your thoughts down below. Now my top takeaway not only from the game yesterday but from the entire start of the season is that the culture is built and that’s the number one thing where I think Jets fans should be encouraged. And this also plays into the identity of the football team. Now I thought what was so impressive yesterday is the Jets ability to just not roll over and not just quit on their head coach or on the rest of their teammates. It was 23-6 late in that fourth quarter. The Jets, they kept on battling. They kept on getting stops. Tyrod finally started or Trod finally started to get the offense moving. And this team just did not quit. And there’s a clear identity with this football team. They’re going to be tough- minded. They are going to play all four quarters. They’re going to try to be a physical team on the ground on both sides of the football. So even though you’re 0 and three, it doesn’t feel good. Like at least you know you have a culture. at least you know you have an identity for the next however many years Aaron Gwen is the head coach because having that is so key because then it’s just tough to game plan for this team week in week out where you know what the Jets want to come uh accomplish that means they can throw you know a curveball they can throw a different look at you but overall first three weeks even though they’re 0 and3 and it sucks like they should be two and one bare minimum one and two but I still think it’s a major positive that this culture is built clearly this team they love playing for their head coach they’re not going to quit on them. And I think that is just massive that there is a culture and just a new identity with this football team. You got rid of that Aaron Rogers stench and now you have this Aaron Gwen, this new wave of New York Jets football. So number one, first three weeks and off yesterday, the culture is built. But number two, the offense needs to start faster. And you know, yesterday was so just deflating because you know, you were able to stop the run. you were able to actually have a decent performance defensively, but your offense just didn’t help you at all, especially during the first three quarters. Like, I would love to see the Jets play a complimentary game where it’s like the defense is going, the offense is going, and they just could not get anything going. And, you know, the Tyrod pick six was obviously, you know, a heartbreaker. Um, that was just a bad decision, bad throw by him. But, you know, Ty or Trod couldn’t really get anything going. Um, and just the offensively like you just stalled out way too many times. Like too many three-andouts, too many quick possessions. And like the Jets defense, like you know, seven points were handed to him off uh Trod Taylor in that interception. You held the Buccaneers offense to 22 points at home. Like I would have signed up for that. I would have probably said the Jets have a good chance to win. You also defensively you did a great job of stopping the run. It’s just the offense needs to compleiment this defense a little more and they just need to keep that defense off the field because if they are just on it over and over again, you can still be a good defense, but in 2025, you can only do so uh do so much. And if you’re out there on the football field for majority of first halfs, majority of games, like it’s going to be an uphill battle. So the offense, and this goes on offensive coordinator Tanner Angstred, he was amazing against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but outside of that, the offense has struggled. So the offense needs to be better and you know that also starts with the run game and it kind of goes back to the Jets knowing their identity and their culture which is a great thing but when you have that identity and that culture being a run first tough defensive-minded football team you got to be better on the ground and there really is no excuse for it because I think personnel-wise you have everything you would want to have a good run game but Bree Hall struggled again yesterday nine carries 21 yards 2.3 yards per clip also had a long run of 17 yards. So besides that 17 yard run, he had eight carries for four yards. It’s just not good enough. It’s just not consistent enough where you look at some of these other, you know, high-powered rushing attacks, it’s just like four yards after four yards after four yards. Then they’ll break one for 20, they’ll break one for 30. Like the Jets just need to find that extra gear. And, you know, they are slowly getting there. But maybe it was just mainly because you didn’t have Justin Field. So, he obviously hurt the run, you know, or rushing offense a little bit, but still, and I understand the Buccaneers are great at stopping the run. I just expected more from this Jets offense, at least on the ground yesterday. And, you know, maybe it starts with getting Brillin Allen more touches. I thought he showed some pop. He showed some juice, which is great. Six carries, 30 yards for him. Um, but you love the one-two punch you have of Brilan and Bree Hall. Like, get those guys going more. You got to get downhill because that sets up the play action. Just sets up everything offensively. But, you know, we told you guys this was going to be a potentially a long year for this Jets team. It’s just going to come down to if they can kind of write this ship a little bit and it makes that Monday night game against the Dolphins, two 0 and3 teams, like that’s a loser goes home game and that’s a must-win game for this football team. But hey, then you got the Cowboys the following week, then you got the Broncos and I think you got the Panthers at home. like even though you’re 0 and three like hey the Rams last year I’m pretty sure started the season 1 and four one and five so you can turn this around but starts with the run game do you have faith in the Jets run game you guys be honest with me give me a Y for yes or give me an N for no you guys let me know your thoughts down below all right defensively for the Jets now I like pie chart to blame for the 0 and3 start I just think the defense maybe gets at most 20% of it but the defense just needs to play winning football like both losses defensively or both uh games you should have won. They end up losing against the Steelers and you know yesterday against the Bucks, you could just chalk it up to the defense just having bonehead plays like too many third and logs yesterday that they gave up which just obviously can’t happen. Um, and then just late in the game, you give up that quick Baker Mayfield goal drive. Like, you knew that was going to or you knew the Buccaneers offense was going to get in the play to have a field goal attempt and the Jets didn’t really do anything to stop him. And, you know, you you’re having good performances out of your main guys like Quinnon, I think, has had a really, really good year. Um, he’s starting to look back or look like his, you know, uh, 2023, 2022 version of himself. So, he looks pretty solid. But, you know, you just need more guys to step up and just play, you know, winning football. Like, just don’t have the self-imposed penalties. You know, I still go back to Michael Clemens play third and 19, you know, against the Bills. Like, that was just a bonehead play. Like, there’s just been too many times where this defense where you’re getting enough stops, you’re getting, you know, the other team’s offense in the third and longs and whether that’s penalties or just not being able to tackle. Like, it just feels like this defense is like right there to really putting it all together. And I will give them credit. They stopped the run at a very high level, which you know, the Buccaneers rushing offense is one of the better ones in the league. You’re able to shut down Bucky Irving. Um I think you only had around 65 yards, held them to less than three yards per carry. So, you know, that was good there. But this defense just kind of put it all together and once they do that, you should start stacking wins. But just late in these games, you got to be better down the clutch and uh you know, defense needs to do that. But lastly, got to get the other guys going. And this also starts with or this also connects back to the offense needing to start faster. Like clearly the Jets offense right now is an easy scout. You got to stop the run. Then once you stop the run, you got to stop Garrett Wilson because again Terod was just looking his way the whole game and as he should. Like he is by far the best receiving threat on this football team and there is a wide margin between him and the next guy. So you got to get the other guys going. you got to get whether that’s a Mason Taylor, uh Tyler Johnson who had a bad drop yesterday, but one of these other pass catchers needs to step up and I think it should be Mason Taylor. You spent the 42nd overall pick on this guy. I understand tight ends, you know, normally take a little bit to get going, but we’ve also seen tight ends over the last couple years hit the ground running year one and Mason Taylor needs to be one of those guys. He is just too talented. He’s too good to not get him more involved in this offense. So, I’m expecting more out of him. And then also the deep threat. Aaron Smith, just take more chances to him. Like get him more, you know, gadget plays. Obviously didn’t go well yesterday, but there are ways to get this man the football and he’s just too much of a, you know, weapon with the football in his hands and not getting him more touches. So listen, I understand it’s, you know, it’s tough feeling waking up here on Monday morning. You’re 0 and3. You’re not feeling too good about this football team, but I know moral victories are such a loser thing to say, but it has been so far. 0 and3 sucks, but you can build off it. Hopefully you can start stacking some wins and then it starts against the Dolphins on the road Monday night. You should have a good chance. So, we appreciate everybody watching today’s show. 1. There def isn’t a new culture what wave of new jets football. It’s same thing defense cant make stops. 80 yards worth of penalties and 3 turnovers in 3 games that completely change the game. What are watching man

  2. What the f**k are you talking about?
Are you paid by the Jets?
Their defense is awful, the coach is a clown and their defensive coordinator is inept.
Could have and should have won don't count for the post season.

  3. If only culture could only win a game. Browns. always played hard but never won. So maybe in another 10 years we’ll actually have a winning season. I wouldn’t resign Breece.

  4. They suck! Wins are everything. They are 0-3..Another wasted season. You must be a really young Jets fan. You haven't had too many losing seasons.. Obviously!!! Too much optimism for these shitty performances the last 3 weeks.

  5. The only time jets have success they had 2 good receiver Brandon Marshall Erick decker Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edward’s since then nothing always screwing thing up. They get Sam darnold and take away Robbie Anderson . Every year same stupidity. Good defensive line with Al woods and Quentin Jefferson then don’t keep them. Great defense get zach Wilson what a shame. Every year same thing . I been a jets fan since 69 and I see exactly what they need but they never do it

  6. NYJ fans need to calm down. The reality is that this year is a year to focus on finding out if Justin Fields can be our franchise QB. People act like this defense was stopping the run 2 seasons ago. At the end of the day with all the changes that the Jets have made, it’s going to take nine games for them to really gel especially in the defensive backfield.

We have brand new HC, DC, and OC. Guys who were really not been in those positions before, and they may not even have the players that suit what they wanna do.. have definitely been our coach, but I have optimism because we’ve also seen that they can make in game adjustments like yesterday’s offensive burst in the fourth quarter.

There can be no doubt that we have to have more options beside GW, BH, and MT on offense. Our OC has to learn to scheme but more guys open and use more guys, but the offensive line has to give whoever is playing QB more time.

  7. Get rid of Hall trade him to Cowboys or something and get some draft pics or WR trade! and can they get rid of Clemons he is a clown!! he is a penalty machine!!

  8. I am not a fan of this soft zone defense the NY Jets have been running. We don't have enough collective talent in the secondary to run primary zone defense. I watch Baker Mayfield pick the defense apart without Mike Evans in the lineup

  9. I didn't expect them to win. Biggest concern is the defense. Frankly, it's bad. Nothing creative. Steve Wilkes is NOT a good coordinator, nor does he inspire his players. Might just be too meek for a significant leadership role. Recall he was fired as a head coach and SF fired him after one year. TB walked down the field for the winning FG, and what's galling about that is the D pretty much held TB in check for the second half. We've seen this act before. The anatomy of a losing team; inability to make the third down short yardage, inability to protect the QB when it matters, inability to sack the opposing QB in crunch time. Inability to close out a game. I'm just not seeing ANY improvement. At least Salah had a respectable defense. They will lose the next two games but might have a shot at the Benegals without Burrow. Let's see how hard the guys play when they're 1-5. I like Glen as a leader, but I'm not seeing any creative Xs and Os. And I don't want to see my head coach strutting on the sideline. Have some dignity. Please. We'll be playing for a draft pick by the end of October, if not sooner. So tired of this shit. 55 years of futility.

  10. 1) can we pass on first down ! 🤔 Please !!! 2) We have 2 wide receivers on the practice squad ! Yeah their kids but, they are
Better then who we are running out there right now. 3) if we pass
on first downs, the other team with have to respect the pass &
play back more off the line. Which will open things up more for
Breece Hall. 4) some play calls need to be 🗑 ! Like those screen
plays with that small W/R & those end around that never fool anybody ! 😱

  11. Jets fans have no reason to celebrate. Yes they battled but 3.5 qtrs they played with no energy. Zero identity football. Yes they started good in 4th qtr but it’s little to late. Defense again can’t protect the lead…

  12. My biggest problem with glenn is why the defense is so bad. You think of his time in detroit… he had 3rd and 4rth string players all over that defense because of injuries and they PERFORMED. Why is this happening to a Jet defense that have all pro players in it and healthy at that…

  13. Considering out of the 3 games 2 of them week 1,3 we had a 4th quarter collapse. I’m sorry but uh when you had the lead on your opponents and basically couldn’t put the game away that’s what we cant do. You need to keep the opponent from pulling a 4th quarter comeback. Week 2 that was a smacking. Ok I get it but when you go up against 2 teams and basically they had to rely on a 4th quarter comeback to win the game shows we basically fought all game long to win the game.

  14. They need more horses on defense. They also need an A-HOLE OR TWO. Somebody that will get in people's face. Look here man, this ain't working get your Head out your arse. Defense can't seem to find a decent angle and tackle. The defense looked terrible in my opinion. Started ok, but can't tackle one on one, they expect a juke and it ain't happening. Every play. Not for nothing but for years now every time our defense has someone with a 3rd and 20 plus….we break out with the song "give it up,baby give it up." Seems like 90% of the time they do just that😅😂. It's all good though, they are a few pieces away. Pieces I don't think they thought they were. Like to see the rooks get some time. I would like to see Stiggers over #21.#44 hasn't lived up to the hype.#22 eh. #72 did better yesterday. Someone said he had a PF,I must have missed it… The face mask maybe.

  15. anyone else think McDonald could have given himself up on the 1/2 yard line, at the end of his sensational play?
Then on first and goal, take a knee for 1 or 2 plays and score after running the clock down? Sure, it's risky but letting the Bucs have the ball just needing a field goal to win with that much time was risky too. Though probably too much to ask of a player in the heat of the moment.
