‘I’m anticipating probably not coming back here’: Nolan Arenado on his Cardinals future

in your heart, do you believe that you played your last game at Bush Stadium as a Cardinal? Um, I mean, it’s starting to really feel like it. I mean, um, you know, I knew going into these last series it was starting to feel like that, but uh, you know, um, yeah, I mean, like, listen, I think this team, this organization needs to go to a different route with, um, how they go about their business. They got to let some of these young guys grow and become players and see what they have. And there’s no doubt that I’m in the way of that. Um, so I don’t know what’s going to happen. Um, but obviously I do believe change is coming and uh as it should. Have you been nostalgic at all about your time here? Have you thought a little bit about the highs early on? You had the chance to think about it. Kind of sum it up a little in your head. I think so. Yeah. I mean obviously 2122 uh you know was a lot of winning 17 games in a row was crazy. Um 22 obviously being in the MVP race with Goldie. Um and then watching Albert take over the whole second half. You know, my favorite thing about being a carinal was fight is Albert just going off. Um, and playing in front of a, you know, a packed Bush stadium. I mean, when you come to the games now and you see their seats open, it just doesn’t feel like Bush, you know, it doesn’t feel like what, you know, when you think of Bush Stadium, you think of a packed house and uh to not have that anymore. It’s been disappointing, but at the same time, it’s not their fault. It’s ours and we’re not winning enough of them. So, but uh you know uh I just miss a pack bush. You know, it was like you know when I think of 22 think about how fun it was coming to the ballpark every day. You know, I couldn’t wait on off days. I was mad cuz I wanted to go to the ballpark, you know, like we just love showing up and working and playing in front of them and uh I wish we could have experienced that a little bit more. Can you talk about this off season? You have to be more flexible. Have you thought about what it might take to accommodate everybody here? Yeah, I think so. Um you know, you know, that’s something I’m going to have to discuss with my agent and my family. you know, I can’t just pick up and go anywhere. Um, teams are going to have to want me too, you know. Um, I know I can help a team win. I do believe that. Um, I do believe I’ll make the right adjustments, but uh, you know, I also have to have a family now. I got to make sure I do the right by then, too. So, we’ll see what happens. But, you know, I am I’m anticipating, you know, probably not coming

  1. He's not blocking anyone better. Just keep him and finish the contract. He has more upside than anyone we got that can play 3rd. Gorman ain't it Walker ain't it. There's no one else. Trading him will net nothing. Releasing and pay him to play against us is stupid. He's still a 20 HR, 70 RBI 70 Run guy. Nobody we have is close to that.
