Los Angeles Lakers vs Charlotte Hornets LIVE | September 22, 2025 | NBA PRESEASON | NBA 2K26

Hornets trail by eight and so in the game for Los Angeles we’ve got Jared Vanderbilt Austin Reeves out there with Marcus Smart then there’s Maxi Cleba and it’s Larabia in a small forward for three Bridges and the basket’s good off the assist from Denwitty tell you the ability to act quickly to get your shot up as soon as you make the catch that’s beautifully done by Bridges [Applause] inside and stolen by Bridges to the paint. Kicks it out to Denwitty. Outside man, back to Denwitty. [Applause] Four on the clock from 18 ft away. And it’s Larabia with a rebound. Loravia has got five rebounds in the game. Pass to Smart. outside Reeves. Lots of room and the rebound goes to Charlotte with the defense absent. That was a great opportunity but no go. Now here’s man outside. He hits it just before the shot clock expires. There has to be an awareness of where the shot clock is. And Spencer Denwitty outstanding beating the buzzer. [Applause] And here is Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt with a screen down low. And Vanderbilt slams it in. Nice one-handed jam there, PA. Hey, little exclamation point. Hornets trail by five. Bridges outside. [Applause] Back to Denwitty. Six to shoot. [Applause] Rebounded by the Lakers. Vanderbilt’s got nine rebounds now. You wonder what the score would be if they weren’t controlling the glass. Smart passes to Cleba outside. Reeves. Smart for three. And Smart nails the triple. Well, Marcus Smart has come so far as a three-point shooter. This guy very capable from distance. Den Woody outside to the inside. Here’s Diabate. Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down. Not the tallest center in the league. He more than makes up for it with those crazy hops. The Lakers lead by six. To the middle. Here’s Clea and it’s rejected. They retain possession. Good on the shot. A look at the clock. A little under three and a half minutes gone by in the fourth. Bridges outside pass to man and stolen by Reeves. [Applause] And here is Vanderbilt. Reeves with a screen on Bridges. Vanderbilt the pass to Arabia. Shot clock at five for three and the rebound goes to the Hornets. Bridges has got doubledigit rebounds now in the game. Pass to Denwitty. [Applause] outside man fires for three. Vanderbilt pulls it in. And he almost made them regret defending him so loosely. Lorravia outside outside. Reeves. Five on the clock. Pass to Smart. Lets a three fly. Coming through again. shooting five for seven now. Their ball movement on this run has been tremendous. It’s led to a lot of good, clean, open looks. [Applause] Bridges against Vanderbilt. And the basket by Bridges. Bridges has got five points now this quarter. Miles Bridges has steadily built an offensive arsenal that is so impressive. Doesn’t matter what the defense sends at him, he finds a way to score it. And it’s Larabia missing. Hornets trail by nine. Denwitty outside man for three. Bridges. Offensive rebound. Kiovate. Oh, big D that time from Clea. Boy, he had a clear look at it. Woo! You hate to miss chippies like that. Smart looking around back to Reeves. [Applause] Vanderbilt with a screen to the paint and Vanderbilt slams it in. Yeah, there was some nice rhythm to that play and Reeves with a perfect pass. And so Denwitty will bring it up for Charlotte. They trail by 11. Bridges outside. [Applause] Ooh, now seven for nine after that make Los Angeles leading by nine. Reeves with a ball outside. Vanderbilt again. Los Angeles. All game long he’s been getting to his spots and the defense has yet to adjust. Pass to Canipple. [Applause] Now man, there’s the three. Smart grabs a miss outside. Reeves six on the shot clock. A step back shot. Diabate grabs the board. Diabate’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Here’s Denwitty. Soft touch off the glass. Denwitty’s gotten four this quarter. Well, Spencer Denwitty can make an impact in the painted area. He’s got size at the position. Here’s Reeves. Smart outside. Reeves with a screen on Denwitty. Oh, he goes up high for the two-handed slam. Woo. Defensively, you can’t afford to let him get to the rim that easily. Well, that might be why their deficit is what it is right now. I’ll tell you, you can’t get stops if you’re unwilling to put in the work. [Applause] Now, Bridges. [Applause] Vanderbilt pulls it in. Vanderbilt’s got the glass covered here tonight. That’s 11 boards for him. [Applause] Labraia inside. He’s covered by Denwitty. And it’s Larabia missing to the inside. And there’s Denwitty. That one’s good on the assist from Canipo. I’ll tell you, he comes out of the locker room and all of a sudden he’s a different guy. The Lakers lead by nine. [Applause] Smart outside. Pass to Reeves. Now Vanderbilt and stolen by Bridges. And they’re pushing it up. Denwitty and he slams it down. Well, this is a point guard who can flat get off the floor. Denwitty using his vertical to his advantage. The Lakers lead by seven. And so JJ Reick calls for the timeout. He’s looking to make some very important adjustments here. He recognized his players were fatigued and needed time to catch their breath. [Applause] [Applause] and a new group getting ready for the Lakers. DeAndre Aon, he’s checked in for Cleba. Aimura comes in for Vanderbilt. James has checked in for Larabia and Donic has subbed in for Smart. All right, let’s check in with Alli Leforce. I was able to listen in on what JJ Reick was going over with his team. And coach reminded his team that leads can disappear quickly in the NBA. He said, “If we get loose and they make a few shots in a row, then this is a ball game again. Do not let that happen,” he implored. Guys, all right, Ally, thanks once again. I’ve been in this position. Your team is up. You want to drive in the dagger. He may be a little overeager. Ball against Donic in tight. LaMelo LaMelo Ball relishes these moments. That young man has no fear. Outside Reeves. [Applause] Here’s Donic. What a connection DeAndre Aton has with his guys. Great timing on the alleyoop. Here’s ball for three. Rebounded by Aiden. If you’re trying to make a comeback, that is the kind of shot that doesn’t help. Reeves and no one in the vicinity. And when you watch Reeves, he believes every shot is going in. I mean, he plays with major confidence. Here’s Bridges. Plumbley a screen. Now Miller down to five on the shot clock and play stops. The whistle there on what looks like an illegal screen. The screener was leaning a bit right there. His feet may not have been planted. Pretty obvious call by the officials. You know, he’s just leaning a little bit. You try to get away with it, but boy, the official all over it. Grant wouldn’t be a bad idea here to slow it down. Yeah, coach is definitely looking for patience and execution. Miller against James. Here’s Reeds. Takes a three. Bridges pulls it down. Now Bull. Ball out. Works the contact inside. This is where the size of LaMelo pays off, folks. 6’7 and ready to finish. Los Angeles has gone two of six so far in the fourth. Now Aimura now Donic outside. Aimura. Here’s Donic from deep and he nails it. And they knew it wasn’t going to be easy to win on the road, but they’ve controlled the pace on this one. And sometimes when everyone’s rooting against you, it seems to bring the unit closer together. It certainly did tonight. Now Bridges from downtown. Oh, no good. And the shooter had very little space on that attempt. Right. He stays connected and great timing on the contest. About 7 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Donic against ball. Clock at six. Austin Reeves. Oh, off target from downtown. So, we see the Lakers taking the W here. Exceptional effort on the road. They were ready and they were focused. Focused indeed. I mean, it takes a strong mental approach to block out the distractions. These guys stepped up 100%. And Alli Leforce has something for us on the sidelines. Hey Ally, LeBron, you’ve accomplished so much in this league. How have you been able to sustain it for so long? You know, it’s only a select few. It’s not many who make it to this point. And and I would never take the game for granted. That’s why I try to give everything I can till I can’t give no more. And I’ve been around some great players, great coaches, great organizations. And uh for me to have this opportunity right here means a lot. And I’m very humbled. Well, you’re a sponge for knowledge and you have a great work ethic and it’s been fun to watch. Thanks, LeBron. All right, Ally. Thanks. Great stuff there. And that about wraps it up for Doris Burke, Ally Leforce, and Grant Hill and our entire crew. This is Brian Anderson thanking you for tuning in. We’ll see you next time.
