just about set to go now. The starting pitcher in this one, Noah Cameron and Singi, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. I’ve just been so impressed with when it seems like there’s more pressure, he’s more calm and settles in. He’s done an incredible job with runners in scoring position. And most guys, they get a little tight, they start to aim the baseball, but for some reason he gets looser, the ball comes out of his hand with more life, and he’s able to wiggle off the hook of, you know, tough situations and get his team back in the dugout. Popped up Quintino and there’s one down. Not exactly. Let’s take a look at the lineup for the Blue Jays. Chris, this is an offense that puts the bat on the ball. Tough outs pretty much throughout the lineup and they have fewer strikeouts than any other team in the league. Yeah, Boo. And I I just remember as a player when you’re going up against a club like this, it keeps you on your toes all game long because you got to make plays for your pitcher on the defense. And so an offense like that can really put some pressure on that defense. So they can swing the bats, put it in play, but I also think if they run the bases hard, it adds another element to their game. Foul ball there. You rewind and think back to those Giants teams that won three world titles. They were pretty good contactbased teams. Obviously, the Royals as well. It feels like it’s swinging back a little bit towards there’s an advantage to having some hitters in your lineup that make contact. That one ripped and that’s a foul ball. the pitch. Swing and a highf fly ball. Pretty well struck right field. KagleĂł going back. That one is gone. And they grab the lead. It’s one- nothing. You can’t ask for a better start than hitting a home run in your first at bat to give your team the lead. That’s the exact definition of hitting the ball where it’s pitched. Taking that outside fast ball and driving it the opposite way out of the ballpark. You want to bottle that type of approach. So, one out, nobody. Here’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. And that’s in for a strike 0 and one. Part of the order coming through now. And with one home run already in this inning, they’re definitely looking to do some more damage. Vlatty 25 years old and he’s usually a first baseman, but today he’s the designated hitter and a fast ball in there for a strike at 91. Some people say that first baseman kind of have the day off regularly because they don’t run around a whole lot, but when you think about it, they are involved in just about every single play and there’s a lot of stress that gets put on their legs. So a welldeserved day at the DH spot for him. One out. Base is empty. That misses and that’s ball three and he swings and lifts one to deep center field and one hops off the wall. Should be extra bases. And he starts his afternoon off right with a double. Couldn’t have timed it up any better than that. Even though center fielders are amazing at tracking down balls these days, there’s still a lot of room out there and it’s a big field. So, if you hammer one to center like that, there’s a decent chance you’re picking up extra bases. And here’s the catcher, Alejandro Kirk. Definitely scuffling at the dish lately. Barely hitting over the Mendoza line this month. And ball one man at second and that one fouled off [Applause] right through there for a strike. Looks like he’s just sizing him up there. Really good pitch to hit, but he took it all the way. Sometimes guys just want to set their timing later on in the game. That may be a pitch that he turns on. [Applause] Swings and misses. Pulled the string of the change up. He’s really good at hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly, he had him fooled. [Applause] Next to hit, Tai France [Applause] swinging a foul out of play. [Music] [Applause] Swing and a miss as he was out front. Bennett really sells the change up with that arm action. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. [Music] [Applause] Two outs. Fights that one away. And the count remains 0 and2. [Applause] One, two. [Applause] fights it off. He’ll see another first inning going a bit long. 23 pitches to this point to the right side. Massie to first. That ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand. Jay’s open it up with a solo homer. It’s now one- nothing. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. And we’re back towing the slab in today’s game. Shane Bieber. What’s the word on him? Well, he brings into this one an excellent strikeout to walk ratio on the season. And when you consider the amount of swings and misses that he gets, the fact that he’s not issuing free passes, that’s going to make him more economical in his pitch count, allow him to move into the middle and deeper part of ball games. So, we’ll see if that remains true in this one. Carter Jensen, the leadoff batter, as he looks at ball one. [Music] Next offering is in for a strike. Well, we call that keyholeing. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. [Music] on the ground right side steps on first for the out batting second short stop and here now the lineup for the Royals a guy who’s been huge for them over the last month plus Mike Garcia and Boo this is a guy he just he drives opposing pitchers crazy I mean he gets on base at such a high rate and then when he’s over there he’s a huge distraction more than 20 steals on the season so he’s going to hurt you when he gets over there and it’s just a matter of trying to keep him contained, but it’s been pretty difficult so far. He’s a great offensive contributor to this team. Bobby Whit Jr. batting with one down, takes a strike. Swing and a pop off in foul ground. Catcher tosses the mask, settles under it, hauls it in. Two away. Good hard fast ball up in the zone right there. They look really good coming in, but so hard to get on top of as a hitter. Vinnie Pasquantino steps in for the Royals. This has been a career year for him when it comes to driving in runs. Two down. Doon just missed. Nasty back door slider. There’s really nothing you can do with that if you swing at it. So that’s a good take by him. So a foul ball makes it one and two. That’s inside. [Applause] That one to first. France. He takes it on his own. Three up, three down. Inning over. Royals bats are quiet there. Still behind by a count of one to nothing. Second inning set to go. And now it’s Daltton Bar. Daltton Vo. Cameron back to work. And that drops in for a strike. [Applause] Next pitch is outside. Joe McDonald doing the home play duties here. Well, Joe’s an interesting one. I’m always trying to figure out what exactly his zone is. Feels like it kind of moves around from game to game, sometimes inning to inning. Pitch misses and a count two and one. Yeah, I think that’s fair. I don’t think he’s ever way off with his balls and strikes, but yeah, I don’t think it’s easy to define what his zone is. Like you said, and that is out of play inside and the count’s full. He’s great hitting the ball the other way and that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit. Mission accomplished. Swing and a miss. Strap him out and there’s one away. That was a really nice pitch call for that putaway slider right there. You look at the sequence in that at bat and he hadn’t thrown it yet. So, just makes it really tough to recognize and fight off with two strikes. I’m sure it looked like a fast ball all the way until it wasn’t. Now it’s the second baseman, Ernie Clement. Fast ball is outside. The 10 ripped on a line. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. That’s out number two. the third base. Two down, base is empty. And now for the Jays. Isaiah Ker Fa [Applause] off foul. Two out. Space is empty. [Applause] Ground ball up the middle. Whit over to first that takes care of Connor Falefa. And it’s a one, two, three inning. Nothing across here this half. We go to the bottom of inning number two. It’s the Blue Jays one and the Royals nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom half of inning number two. Down the third baseman, Mike El Garcia right through there for a strike. Not sure if he was expecting for the pitcher to come right at him, but he got a nice cookie there and just watched it the entire way. You won. And that one fouled off. Swing and a miss. That’s a strike out. Chase the fast ball up the ladder for strike three. And now it’s Salvador Perez to the plate. Infield shifted to the pull side. That one misses. One and0. And there’s a ball. [Applause] And that one misses up and in. And now 3 and 0. That’s good pitch there. really had some run and finished little up and in. Now this one is hammered way back there on his way and gone and we are tied. He sends a rocket to left. His second home run of the series. It’s 1-1. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. Looks like this guy was looking out over the plate, but he was ready to turn on the inside. Fast ball. So direct to the pitch. Absolutely blasted out of this ballpark. [Applause] So, it’s all tied up thanks to the home run. Here comes Mike Gestreky to the plate. That one missed. [Applause] [Applause] This one spoke. Could be trouble. Now he’ll turn for second and he’ll pull in there with a stand up double. Well, that’ll make you feel good as a hitter right there. Really good swing right there. He got a pitch that he knew he could handle. Allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. One out, runner at second. Here’s Adam Frasier [Applause] fouled off. He was late. tied up here in the early going [Applause] and then misses off the outside edge [Applause] [Music] in the air. to left field down the line. Pulls it down and he makes the catch and there’s two away. Batting the right fielder. Yes, KaggleĂł. So, the go-ahead run in scoring position. Kaggle Leone getting ready to hit. He’s been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position. Some guys just take it to another level. for him right now at the plate. It’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed. Strike one. Yensky stands at second with two gone. [Applause] And that one fouled off. [Music] Strike three. Got him swinging. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. Well, this guy competes hard. We see the emotion there. I love it. Great job of getting out of the jam. New inning getting started. And now for the Jays, Miles Straw. He’s already set a new career best for stolen bases in a season. Chris and that one is lifted in the air. Puts it away for the out. The batter number four, short back to the top of the lineup. George Springer next up for the Blue Jays. Glide out his first time. rip at. He wants to get his arms extended. He likes the ball away from him a little bit. Just not able to square it up. He’ll want his outside and it’s a ball and a strike. The short stop takes a ball. Swing and a miss as he was out front that time. keeps the attack going with a foul ball. Gets a piece and stays alive. Knocks that one away and will do it again. And that’s in the dirt. Ninth pitch of the at bat. Do next. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Outside. And that is ball four. It wasn’t easy, but he earned that walk after a long at bat. What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he earned that wall. Man at first with one gone. And now the right fielder, Davis Schneider. He’s already homered here in this one. First offering misses badly for ball one. Maybe losing command a little bit after the walk. Next pitch, not even close. And that one is downstairs. Ball two. Last two pitches have been down in the zone. Pitcher clearly trying to get that ground ball double play, but in this count, he’s going to have to give in, elevate his pitches, and get back into this at bat. Man at first, one away. And that finds the mark on the outside point. Two and two now. That one missing inside. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. Back to work. 3-2 now. And ball four to a board. Well, interesting. He went with the off speed and walked the hitter. Man, you got to challenge the guy with the fast. First and second, one out. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. now doubled his first time. Definitely wants to stay out of the double play here. Ball on the ground in the infield. Should be an inning ending double play. And ball one. Homeplayed umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit. Next offering is downstairs. Tough spot right here. A couple runners on. Two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. Good hitters count the two. This one in the dirt. No advance on the bases, but it’s three and 0 now. Runners at first and second with one gone. That one finds the zone. Three balls in a strike. Well, all eyes on the double play ball in this spot. No better way to get out of this inning. Next offering is in for a strike. He fouls it off. Will do it again [Applause] back up the Oh, that got him to first and he beats it. Everyone’s safe. Comebacker got him down low and you can really see him favoring the leg. That’s his plant leg, which might be a concern, Chris. Yeah, you hope he’s got some feeling in that leg so he can land on it like you said. But from the way he’s acting out there, I think it looks like he’s going to be okay and try to continue. Boo. And the batter now, Alejandro Kirk. Golden opportunity right here. [Applause] [Applause] And now the one just missed. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. John Shrivever up and throwing. Bolan also getting ready. One out. Base is full. [Applause] That one finds the zone and it’s one and two. Hit on the ground. Might be two. Pasquantino over to second. Return throw to first. Got him. Double play and that’ll do it. Just trying to sneak one through with the bases loaded, but an excellent job by the defense to turn that one and get out of this jam. Set for the bottom of the third. So up now for Kansas City, Michael Massie. No, Messi pitch misses there. Ball one. Fouls one off out of play. Back to our left. [Music] Smoked on the ground to second on to France. Leadoff hitter gone in the third. Now batting the center fielder Carter. So the lineup flips over. Now here’s the leadoff hitter for the Royals. Carter Jensen. Grounded out his first time. Check swing called strike. [Applause] That one fouled off. [Applause] One down. Base is empty. That’s a little bit low. [Applause] Got him. And he’s registered three Ks in this one. Up next for the Royals. Now, here’s Bobby Wit Jr. This guy is one of the best athletes in the sport. The shorts stop takes a ball. [Music] That one not close. Now 2 and 0. [Music] Hammered down the right side but foul. Highf fly ball and that one curling foul down the right side. Swing and a miss. Had him out front for the strikeout. Royals go down one two three. Score remains tied 1-1. Back here at Kaufman Stadium, John Chambi with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Tai France. Let’s go. Just missed. France in his sixth season, 30 years old now. And they traded for him earlier this year. Swing and a miss. And the count even at one. [Music] That’s down and in. Fair ball. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. Go ahead run on base. And now the center fielder, Dalton Baro. He’s 0 for one [Applause] and fouled off with a go ahead run at first. Top half of inning number four. Swinging a foul out of play. [Music] gets a piece and it stays 0 and two. [Applause] Outside corner got him looking. Yeah, that’s a tough pitch to stay on. You don’t want to get beat inside. And as you see that pitch continue to run away from you, by the time it’s in the catcher’s mid, you think it’s a ball off the plate away. [Applause] Ernie Clement next up for the Blue Jays. [Applause] and downstairs and a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Generally second, third time through the lineup, you want to be able to lean on those secondary pitches and command them. Looks like he’s doing a nice job of it. [Music] in the air right side of the infield and it falls and the go-ahead run into scoring position. One away. You know, I was watching his rounds during batting practice today. So impressed with his ability to let the ball travel, go back up the middle and the other way. Sometimes when you step in the box during the game, you get a little anxious and you get away from that, but so far I’ve seen him stay consistent with his pregame preparation. And the Royals manager making his way towards the mound now as he will make the move. Noah Cameron won’t go any further. And it’s a tie ball game as he heads for the dugout. Back to the new arm after a quick break. John Shriber taking over on the mound coming on to face a righty here. And he’s been fantastic against him this year. His numbers in those matchups are very good. Two on, one out. Next to hit, Isaiah Kiner Falefa. Ball one there. The last thing he wants is to hit the ball on the ground, but I wouldn’t expect many pitches up in the zone. They’ll be pitching for a double play in this spot. [Music] [Applause] So, two balls and no strikes. line drive and this might be trouble coming home. He’ll score. The Blue Jays take the lead now. A second crosses the plate and it’s three to one. But when you fall behind in the count, you’ve got to come into the zone and then guys have a better chance of hitting the ball hard like he did right there. Miles Straw the next to hit. Fly to left his first time. Headed down the line and that will drop foul. Still only one out here in the inning. And a foul ball. man at second. Foul ball still 0 and two. [Applause] Swings through it and that’s a strike out. Boo is a hitter. There’s a clear line between being aggressive at the plate in a good way, attacking pitches you can drive, and then being overaggressive in a way that plays into the hands of the pitcher. You got to have pitch recognition. And right there, just way too aggressive. And even though some of those pitches might have looked good coming in, you got to track them a little bit longer because not one of those four pitches was actually in the strike zone. And the batter is George Springer. And there’s a strike on the outside corner. swing and that ball smashed on a line. Squeezes it and that’ll do it. But they’ll pick up a couple runs here. Both coming on this two-run double. It’s now a 3-1 ball game. back after this on the show. Bottom of the inning and now the first baseman, Vinnie Pasquantino. Well, after putting up a nice inning on offense, got some runs across. This is where you look for the starter to go out there, have a shutdown inning. Don’t give that other team any hope. Uh you just hope that he can get through this inning, get the bats back up there while they’re hot. Movement in the bullpen. Louis Vland preparing to come on if needed. Little warming up as well. That one ripped but foul. He’s been pitching well, but going through this middle of the order second time through, we’ll see what kind of adjustments are being made. Next offering is in for a strike. A one-two count. All he’s seen is fast balls. You’ve got to expect something off speed. Stay back. And that one missing low. [Music] Battling here as he fouls it away. the 2-2 and a foul ball. He stays alive. [Music] Swinging a ground ball. France takes it himself. Leadoff hitter retired in the four. Third baseman Mike Garcia. And now it’ll be the cleanup spot for the Royals. Mikel Garcia. His first at bat was a strikeout. That is upstairs for ball one. Well, the offense has gotten going and a pitcher wants to go out there, have a real quick inning, get those guys back into the dugout so those bats can stay hot. And that’s downstairs and outside. Base is empty, one away. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. grounds one to short. Springer tosses to first. Two up, two down. The catcher number 13, Salvador. Salvi steps into the box now. He’s already homerred in this game. That’s off the mark. And that’s ball one. And that drops in for a strike. Not sure if he could be in more of a groove. Looks really relaxed. He’s retired seven straight. This guy’s feeling it right now. Next pitch is outside. Really good take, especially with two strikes. Fly ball down the line. This one could be trouble around first and hustling for second in safely. It’s a double and his second hit. Two hits for him in this one. Both for extra bases. Got to feel good about that. You can’t do much better than that on a pitch that far outside of the strike zone. Got him to chase on the two strike count, but he wasn’t fooled. He hit that ball really well. Mike Ystrrenky up here doubled his first time up and that’s in for a strike. No balls, one strike. Ruer at second. Two down. [Applause] Next pitch, a slider that misses outside, swung on, belted, and an automatic double as it hops the fence. They pick up a run, and now it’s a one-run game. He puts a great swing on that pitch and drives home the run. And that was always going to be a double, but the bounce over the wall just took the guesswork out of it right away. It was a nice swing. Here comes the manager out of the Blue Jays dugout and he will make a move to the pen. That’s it for Shane Beamer and he leaves in a one-run game. New pitcher coming on. We’ll be back in a minute. Now pitching for Brendan Little on the pitch here. He’s been so good against lefties. Brendan Little. So, runner at second, two down. Adam Frasier steps in for the Royals. Fly to left his first time. Close but called a ball. Ball one. [Applause] And another ball. [Applause] That’s in there. And it’s two in one. Two outs and one in scoring position [Applause] in the dirt. No advance. Good job behind the dish. And he grounds one back up the middle in plenty of time to first. Frasier retired and that’ll keep more runs from coming in. Inning over. They get a run on two hits, no errors, and a man left. We played four. It’s the Blue Jays three and the Royals two. back here in Kansas City. And now Davis Schneider. Shriber back to work out to center. Jensen makes the catch and there’s one down. [Applause] Now batting the designated hitter, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. next up for the Blue Jays. He’s kind of an outlier, especially when guys are consciously sacrificing contact to deliver power. Come on, let’s go. That misses. And that is ball one. Yeah, his swing is so good. It’s in the zone a long time. He gets the barrel to it a lot and that produces more base hits and that one pulled foul. When you look at the elite teams in the game right now, there is going to be the slug. No question about it. But the really good offensive teams combined slug with more. This one’s into the outfield. Could be extra bases. Makes the turn and heads for second. Pulls in with a double. Third hit for him today. He has had such a good day today. I don’t think he’s going to want to leave when it’s over. Couple of doubles today for the DH. Alejandro Kirk digs in now. Bull for two in this one. Drilled out towards left center field. That’s well struck. And that one hops the wall. The run comes in to score from second and they take a two-run lead. Comes through with the RBI. That pretty much split the zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them pay. One out, runner at second. France now at the plate. One for two. And foul ball. [Music] [Applause] That’s off the mark. One and one. too high. He’s getting a little frustrated out there on the mound getting hit around a little bit. Let’s see if he can settle himself down. Man at second. Fouls that off to the left and will do it again. That one outside. Full count. Three and two [Music] in the air right field. Nobody can get there and it’s a foul ball. I would throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with the fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Good job to fight that one off [Applause] in the air. Right field diving. Gets down. Could be extra bases coming home. He’ll score easily. Stringing them together. That’s three hits in a row. It’s amazing to me that he was able to put the barrel on that one. I mean, that pitch was pretty well outside, but great extension and bat control through the zone allowed him to drive it the other way. That was pretty impressive. [Applause] Manager out of the dugout now. And it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. John Shriber done for the day and he leaves a runner at third. So, we’ll see how the next pitcher deals with that when we get back. Now, pitching for pitching change here, Taylor Clark. Definitely a guy that pounds the strike zone, makes hitters earn their way on base, and rarely gets in trouble because of free passes. One down, runner at third. Daltton Varo getting ready to hit. Who’s over for two with a pair of strikeouts that clips the zone and that is strike one. [Applause] in the dirt. Nice job behind the plate. [Music] [Applause] Swang and a highf fly ball in the air left field. Frasier going back and he makes the catch. Runner tagging and heading for home. It’s a sack fly as he comes across to score and they lead by four. Well, these players understand how important each run is, especially as you get closer to the end of the ball game. Nice job right there to get that runner in from third and add a little insurance. Clement stands in now and watches strike one. [Applause] [Music] This one in the air right field. KaggleĂł should have this one. stretches out and hauls it in. So they get three runs, three hits, no errors, and no one left. Home half of the fifth coming up. It’s the Blue Jays six and the Royals two. And we’re back. We head to the bottom of the fifth. Now it’s the right fielder Jack Kagleon. That one the other way. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. One down. Clearly ready to hit right there. First pitch of the inning. Hits a bullet and it just is one of those bad luck abs. Here’s the second base. Michael Massie 0 for one so far. first offering and it just misses. Yeah, that’s fouled off. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. [Music] on the outside corner. Got him looking. Well, I’d say that was a really nice pitch right there. And if it weren’t for the call, you would say it was a great take, too. I mean, it’s close enough to where you probably need to protect, but it looked to end up just off the corner. Two outs, space is empty. Here’s the center fielder, Carter Jensen. First pitch misses. One ball, no strike. Two outs. There’s the strike at the knees. And a swing and a miss there. Man, he was really tardy on that fast ball. Great job of setting him up by throwing the curve ball. Add some velocity to it on the next pitch. Can’t catch up. And a swing and a miss. And a nice inning of work there as he sets him down. One, two, three. Nothing doing for the Royals. They still trail it here. It’s six-2. And welcome back to the ballpark. All right, we go to the top half of inning number six. And now for the Jays. Isaiah Ker Falefa. And that misses one and0. Well, these Jays digging into their numbers have to be happy with the swings they’re taking. Everything seems to be clicking. And the six extra base hits in the game kind of tells you everything you need to know. They’re not getting fooled up there at all. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. [Applause] [Applause] He hasn’t gotten the result yet, but he’s got to feel pretty confident. Three foul balls in a row. He’s right on this pitcher. Stays alive. [Applause] Next offering misses down and away. Not close with that one and the count’s full. That one misses. So, a leadoff walk. Well, a breaking ball in that 3-2 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. Just couldn’t find the strike zone. So, a man aboard and next for Toronto, Miles Straw. Oh, he doesn’t get the call and it’s one and0. Conor Falefa gets his lead at first. Nobody out. And that one fouled off. [Applause] Clark picks over. Connor Falefa dives back in. [Applause] And a pop off right side. Foul territory. Pasquantino makes the play and there’s one away. Now batting shortstop George Springer. Here’s George Springer. [Applause] That one’s upstairs. Ball one. One ball. No strike. [Applause] [Applause] Rudder takes off. Swinging a foul straight back. [Applause] inside corner and that’s called a strike. This guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today and he hits a ground ball right side and that’s a fair ball. lead runner around second coming home. He will score. Puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI. I really like that swing, man. He didn’t just push it the other way through the infield. He drove it that way. And it kind of makes me think he was thinking opposite field as he stepped into the box, got a pitch he liked, and he got it done. And here is Davis Schneider. He had a big swing for these guys way back in the first inning. Yeah, Boo. He didn’t waste any time in this one. The solo shot really got his team going and he’s looking for more right here. And that’s outside and that’s ball one. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it on the ground to short. Zips it to first. Two gone. Now batting designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero. And now it’s going to be Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Three for threes, double twice and single. [Applause] pitch is in there and it’s 0 and one. Full at bat can be a little bit of a dance. Strike one here, but few more pitches. We’ll see how it turns out. [Applause] [Music] Man on second, two down, and a foul ball. Well, he missed a hitable off speed pitch right there. You’re not sure exactly what the timing. Sometimes you get a backup breaking ball, you’re expecting it to make its move at the end, it never does and you’re tied up. That missed by a lot. Now one and two. They tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away. [Applause] And they’ll do it again. [Music] [Applause] Oh, [Applause] ground ball left side and that’s just foul. Man at second on the ground and foul ball. Also really good at bat. What I like about this guy, his bat stays in the zone for a long time. and gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches. 3-2 now. Alejandro Kirk waiting to hit for Toronto and down on strikes. He battled for a long time, but it finishes with a strikeout. You can’t be mad at yourself after an at bat like that one. But a run will score in the inning on this RBI double. It’s 72. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Now pitching back now for the bottom of the sixth. And there’s a new pitcher on the mound, Sir Anthony Dominguez. And you know, bullpen guys can struggle sometimes when they’re called upon with big leads because it just doesn’t have the same intensity as a tight game. So, we’ll see how sharp he is. Your mental toughness matters in situations like this as well. And to the play for Kansas City, Bobby W Jr., he’s turned into one of the best shorts stops in the game. Top of the zone and it’s called a strike. Well, these Royals being a little too patient at the plate in this game. Sometimes it’s a good thing, but today they’re continuing to fall behind in the count and that’s adding a ton of pressure to their offense. [Applause] Fouled off left side. [Applause] swinging a drive deep right field way back there onto the track and he makes the catch. The first baseman number nine, Vinnie. And next up for the Royals, Vinnie Pasquantino has grounded out a couple of times and first offering is fouled off. [Applause] just missed action in the pen down there. Tommy Nance getting loose out there. Number 68, the lefty warming up as well. [Applause] One down, base is empty. And that’s through there for a strike. And it’s one and two. [Music] and misses inside. [Applause] And a base hit right there. Love how he let that ball travel, trusted his hands. Nice job of going the other way. Garcia man at first Mikel Garcia steps in for the Royals. Chris baseball today so many strikeouts and they are available to pitchers. But this is a guy that puts the bat on the ball and is kind of different from the players that we see day in day out. [Applause] Well, that’s a nice job of moving that runner up into scoring position. It’s not the most common way of getting it done. Probably a little painful, but now we’ll see if they can cash in. Salvador Perez steps in for the Warriors. [Applause] And that is out of play. Pasquentino over at second. Garcia at first. One gone. [Applause] That’s outside and the count even one and one. [Applause] It’s a big opportunity right here. But I love the way he’s slowing the game down. He’s shrinking his zone, making sure he gets the pitch that he wants to hit. [Applause] Next offering is in for a strike. [Music] Fights it off. He’ll see another [Applause] swing and a ball ripped out towards right center field. That’ll touch down for a hit. One run is in. safe and that’s his third hit. The run scores all the way from first. It’s 74. Nicely done. Brings home two. I love the approach he had right there with that pitch. Not trying to do too much, but still looking to drive it. And that’s exactly what he’s able to do into the opposite field gap for the double. Now that sets up a huge at bat in this ball game. Here comes the manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move for the bullpen. Sir Anthony Dominguez departs. It’s a three-run game, and we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute. So, they turn to their closer, Jeff Hoffman. And something to be aware of, the long ball has been a little bit of a problem for him this year. Jeff Hoffman. One out, runner at second. Yustrrenky will hit next. RBI knock for him last time. Now a chance to drive in another run. And they’re swinging a miss. No ball. One strike [Music] [Applause] one. [Applause] [Applause] Next offering is fouled back. [Music] [Applause] Swings and blasts one deep to left center. And that should be extra bases. Brown’s third headed for the plate. He’ll score. Safe at second with a double. Third hit for him this afternoon. Oh, that gets him a little closer in this one. Off the bat, that one registered at 105 mph. Man, that is smoke. And these days, you hear it all the time, but the numbers just don’t lie. If you can drive a ball like that, more often than not, you’re picking up enough. Really important at bat. Coming up now, Adam Frasier the next to hit. [Applause] That one a little bit high. Ball one. With the tying run at the plate there, the home team trying to pull it out. fought off foul. [Music] Tying run at the plate. They tried to get him to go chase the pitch down and away, but he wouldn’t bite. [Applause] Swings and misses. Struck him out. And they’re down to their last out. stood absolutely no chance on that slider right there. And I don’t mean to laugh, but that’s a tough one. I mean, pretty much a perfect strikeout pitch. I mean, it looks like a fast ball middle end. Kind of has cutter action and it just bunches you up to where you can’t get your hands through and the barrel to it. And not much you can do unless you recognize the spin early and you spit on it. So, it’s their last chance in this one. Jack Peg Leone now at the plate. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. [Music] [Applause] That one pulled foul [Music] [Applause] and there’s a ball. Oh, an interesting situation. one swing you can tie up the ball game. But if you’re patient and work a walk, then you bring the game-winning run to the plate. That won’t hammer but pulled fouled. The Royals down to their final strike outside and it’s three and two. Big pitch coming right here. The last thing he wants to do is put the tying run on base, but he can’t groove one either. [Applause] [Applause] Hard hit left side. And that is the ball game. The number 90 is a big number. You’re talking 90 wins over the course of a big league season. Extremely impressive. These players have worked hard all year long and they’re seeing the fruits of their labor. It’s not over yet, though. A 75 final score in this one for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the show. Thanks for stopping by.
