Brewers vs. Padres Game Highlights (9/22/25) | MLB Highlights
The stakes are high tonight. The Brewers have clinched the NL Central yesterday, but they are still fighting for playoff positioning. While on the other side, the Padres’s with a win tonight can punch their ticket to October baseball. Looking for that clinch has been the Padres’s top pitcher. That’s Nick Paveta. He loves pitching here at Petco Park. A 22 ERA this season pitching on his home mound. Padres’s allowed a run in the first inning in five of the six games on their road trip. Yesterday was the only day they did not allow a run in the first inning. Slow curve in the air to left field. Bryce Johnson over towards the line. He’s there to make the running catch and a one two three top of the first inning for Nick Paveta. Freddy Peralta on the mound tonight for Milwaukee. You could label this game as game one of a playoff series. Pavetta Peralta is having one heck of a season. Freddy is. So one out with Manny Machado coming up. Lines one to left and a ringing single to left field. First base hit of the night. Manny Machado with a one out knock now. Jackson Merrill with a runner on first. One away. Jackson hits it hard on the ground up the middle into right center at a base hit. Manny going to try and go first to third. Felix Stro will come into second base. And the Padres’s are all set up backto back one out singles in the bottom of the first inning. Runners on the corners. Gavin Sheets coming up. And a huge crowd on this Monday night. Very much anticipating something special. He takes a cut of the first pitch. pops it up. Terang is there and makes the catch. Machado bluffs. It’s a big second out on the popup and again on first pitch and he walked him. They’re loaded for Jake Croninworth. Well, Jake had an RBI single, two out RBI single yesterday in Chicago in the second inning. Finds himself a great RBI opportunity right here with two outs. Now ready to two. He stumbles. It’ll be a buck and the Padres’s are going to take the lead as Peralta lost his footing. Never through the pinch. And Machado comes home. It’s one to nothing. What a way to get on the board. So the count remains two and two. A run is scored. And now you got O’Harn at second. Merryill at third. Croninworth left center. Churio’s on the move. He’s there. Makes the catch and the inning comes to a close. Stopping at second is Freelick. Just a little bloop single off the bat of Andrew Vaughn. And the Brewers have first and second and one away. Here’s Isaac Collins. Couple of walks drawn yesterday by Collins and he walked him. yanked the fast ball and Collins loads the bases with only one out for Durban. See if the bottom of the order can come up with a big knock against Pava. Brings home the first pitch and Durban a ground ball into left field for a base hit. Freelick is in. They’re going to hold Vaughn at third and the bases will remain loaded. Caleb Durban ties it up with an RBI single to left. I mean, what a player this guy is. I mean, just continues to produce with runners in scoring position. Wouldn’t you know, Joey Ortiz is at the plate with the bases loaded. 30th played appearance this year for Ortiz with the bases loaded. Time for the most in the big leagues. Reaches out and pops it up back goes Croner to make the catch. Base is loaded. Two down in the inning for Milwaukee. Flips the order over for Christian Yelich. Yell. Good career numbers against Paveta. Six for 16 with a couple of homers and a couple of doubles. And a shot up the middle. A base hit. That’ll score two. Van’s in. The throw is going to go to third. Sliding in and safe at the plate. They will count the run. Isaac Collins scored before the tag at third. That was critical for Collins to keep running hard. Mike Sh will not challenge. So a two-run single from Yelich. And boy, that was as close as it gets, but Collins just barely got in there inside. Three to one Brewers. Machado leads off in a two-run game. Got him looking. fast ball right on the low inside corner. Ring him up. That was just a great sequence and Manny was totally frozen. Peralta keeps him with the bat on his shoulders. There’s Jackson Merrill. 317. Five doubles in the last 15 games. Two triples. Two two pitch. Swing and a miss. He got him with a fast ball right in on the hands of Jackson Merrill. Backto back strikeouts for Peralta to begin the third. Last four hitters. Three strikeouts for Peralta. Trying to figure it out. Swing and a miss. curve ball and Freddy Peralta strikes out the side in order in the third inning and Freddy up to 199 Ks this year. Six straight retired from Peralta here as he’s gotten into a bit of a groove. Did he go? It was down low. Yes, he did. It was a curve in the dirt for strikeout number 200 on the season for the Brewers ace Freddy Peralta. He is in a very elite class of Dominican pitchers. He joins Pedro Martinez, Juan Marishal, and Mario Sodto as the only 200 strikeout club three different times. Two out, bases clear. Bryce Johnson swings and grounds the first pitch right to the second baseman, Bryce Dang. It’s a quick and easy inning for Freddy Peralti. Another walk issued by Paveta. He’s walked four tonight. See if William Contras can take advantage of the two walks in this fifth inning. The pitch count one away from 90 for Paveta. And Conurus hits it on the ground to shortstop. Eglacius to his right has it. Quick throw to second in time. That’ll force Tang and end the inning. Brewers had a threat. Unable to push anything across. Jos Iglacius is the better. Eddie Peralta has really been in a groove. He delivers. And first pitch swinging. Jos Eacius deep to left. Collins is back. It’s going to go. Long home run to left for Eacius. Only his second of the year. And he puts it into the second deck in left field. This is a one-run game in the bottom of the fifth. Upper tank quidado. Just 52 home runs in his 13-year major league career coming into tonight. Yeah, it’s safe to say you didn’t have that on the bingo. No. Base is empty. Two outs. Machado one for two. And Machado sends it in the air to center field and deep. Cheerio’s going back. He’s at the wall measuring it up and he’s got room to make the catch and end the inning. Manny just missed a game-tying home run to center, but the Padres’s get one on the Eacius homer. Nick Pavetta still out there trying to see if he can finish another inning. Nick has had a couple of really long innings here tonight, the second and the fifth that have inflated the pitch count. Two outs, nobody on the switch hitting. Isaac Collins now the only guy standing between Nick Paveta and six complete innings. And he walks him. That is the fifth walk and that’ll do it for Pavetta. 112 pitches and unable to complete this sixth inning. But Nick gave absolutely everything that he had in the tank here tonight. Rightander Ron Marinio into the ball game for the Padres. Seventh appearance 0 and0 with a 093 ERA and he swings, sends it in the air to center field. Very high, not deep at all. Jackson Merrill right there to make the catch and in the inning. Marinacio closes the six for Pava. Another lefty, journeyman Kyle Harts. As the seventh inning continues, you’ve got Yelich at first with two out. And the Brewers clinging on to a three-2 lead in this series opener. Bryce Tang coming in to face Harts. And that one shot with the gap in right center field. Yelich will go from first to third. Terang stops. Another base hit against the lefty. They’re on the corners. And just like it was in early June when these teams got together for a series in Milwaukee, the hits have been hard to come by. It’s only the ninth base hit combined in this game. Here comes Contraras who’s 0 for two with a walk. Fly ball right center field. Merryill moves over and back and will make the catch. It ends the inning. Hard out of trouble in the inning. Backto back walks with two outs. And now the tying run is in scoring position with Luis Arise coming to bat. 10game hitting streak on the line. But beyond that, an opportunity to tie this game. Hard on a line up the middle in center and a base hit. The Glaciius rounding third. He’s going to score and Luis Arise comes through. This game is tied in the seventh. I don’t care what his average is for my money. That’s who you want up in that spot. Couldn’t pitch around it with Manny on deck. Comes through with a big knock in the seventh. Luis Srise pumped up as ever. Okay, we got ourselves a whole new ball game. Battle of the bullpens. Two in scoring position with two down and the number nine hitter Joey Ortiz coming up. Got to figure he will be Estrada’s last batter. He delivers and a swing and a miss. Got him to chase a slider in the dirt and Estrada got it when he needed it to end the inning. Now Brewers can try and get something done with the top of the order against Robert Suarez. Yell lines one to left field. Diving left is Bryce Johnson. Makes the catch. Johnson lays it out and robs Yelich. A huge play in a big moment. That’s a big league play right there. Suarez is trying to set down the Brewers in order for the first time since the first inning. And a swing and a miss. Robert Suarez working three straight days. Comes out of the bullpen and works a one, two, three. Top of the ninth inning. And we’ll go to bonus baseball. A productive out as that runner now 90 ft away for Milwaukee. Now all of a sudden the Padres’s have to bring the infield in. Ground ball towards short. Alacius coming home. The throw is going to be laid safe. down. Freelick reaches to Rang going on down angle. The Brewers take the lead. And so a rise the tying run now at third base and Maryland at first with one away. And here comes Gavin Sheets. Brewers will leave the infield that double play depth. Sheets swings. It’s a sharp grounder first. Monasterio stabs it, throws to second high in time, but Arise able to score. And this game is tied in the bottom of the 10th inning. That is a heck of a play from Monisterio. that had extra bases ridding all over it. So, they will start over with Bryce Johnson, a switch hitter who will obviously turn around to hit right-handed. A base hit here and he sends the 2025 team to the playoffs. Ground ball to third. Durban Fields. He’s going to go to second and get the out just in time to get Croninworth. And we will head to the 11th inning. Padres’s 90 ft from winning this ball game and clinching backto back burst for the playoff. You’ve got Freddy Fine coming to the plate. A deadline acquisition by AJ Prowler from the Royals from lanes it into left center. It’s a walk on. Johnson’s coming from third. And with that, for the fourth time in the last six seasons, the San Diego Padres’s are headed back to the postseason in 2025. Don’t you find it just so fitting that a guy they got at the deadline comes through with the big hit. Freddy knows it. Everybody knows it. It’s time to get wet, San Diego. And for just the second time in franchise history, the Padres’s are going to the postseason in back-to back seasons. The party is on in San Diego.

That was awesome to watch had playoff vibes written all over it
Our Padres are gonna be a DANGEROUS TEAM come postseason.
LFGSD fuck LA
They loose at least one game against the Rockies and the White Sox… Then beat the Brewers in a nailbiter. I'm not sold for the deep run, yet.
Odd to not include the double play to end the top of the 11th. I almost passed out at the game from cheering for that 😂
luis araez can't swing .it's just thesame as bunting .it looks like he don't have energy to smash d ball

San Diego es una realidad. Tiene un gran núcleo de peloteros jóvenes. Encabezados por un joven veterano llamado Manny Machado. Una estrella en tercera base.
