Herb Jones says his new $68 million contract will not stop him from only wearing team-issued gear: “Nothing changed. If my family is good, I’m cool. I don’t really care about what anyone says about clothes, especially going to a basketball game… You’re putting your uniform on in 5 minutes.”

  1. Correct mind set.

I literally don’t remember any of these fools game day outfits it’s just plain dumb and waste of money

  2. Zion really fucked up something that could have been special…

Shout out to herb. We have another losing session, set him free.

  3. nothing wrong with players spending their money on fancy clothes to wear to games, but as someone who’s wardrobe contains plenty of free shirts, I feel seen

  4. only sort of related but I went to UK and all the athletes got issued these big ass blue coats that they’d all wear during the winter so we called them smurfs

  5. Incoming morally superior Redditors who will ignore him saying “to each his own” as they use this quote to shit on other players for daring to have interests they deem unacceptable.

  6. No hate on dudes caring about their fashion. Totally reasonable. But it is refreshing to see some kids talking about how they don’t give a shit as well.

We live in a world of hyper consumerism and having some solid guys out there validating not being drawn to that is nice.

  7. I’m OK with guys spending their money how they see fit. But it is refreshing to see somebody like him have this attitude, personally knowing what this kind of wealth this can do for you and your family over the long-term if you’re not stupid with it

  8. man I wish I was the same. I am upper middle class and I like nice clothing and shoes lol.

  9. While I do understand the term. “When you look good you feel good”

I definitely understand this perspective too. If it don’t bother you none about clothes then do you

  10. Love Herb. Love this attitude.

Like I understand the sentiment, too – but it doesn’t need to be every single player every single night. It doesn’t need to be a catwalk.

And I got it moreso back in the day, when more players were from the hood and essentially turning up on every hater they’d ever had, showing everyone that they’d ‘made it’. However these days half the NBA are the sons of ex-players and millionaires who grew up on private lessons. Doesn’t hit the same way as Iverson or someone.

Not to mention most of these dudes don’t even have fashion sense. Like they legit look like Halloween costumes half the time. If you’re going to make it a fashion show, at least hire stylist!

  11. sometimes, all a man needs is Gildan whites/grey shirt pack and a good fitting jeans or joggers.
