I have seen more memes about us on this sub than I have in the meme war sub. I’m not trying to take a meme to seriously but we should be proud our boys are fighting this hard any team wpuld hope to have second stringers play with suck passion and grind some ugly wins.

My optimism is in the youth movement. Football players are lucky if their careers last more than 3-5 years. Older players get hurt more often, and if they have an early history of injury it just means more struggles down the road. We saw that with Greenlaw, and we’re seeing that with CMC and even Bosa to an extent.
The great recent dynasties built through the draft, and we just need to continue doing that process. Sometimes it’s better to trade away an aging veteran (no matter how popular) for draft picks, to keep that health and resilience intact. Sure, many of these franchises kept a few key players, but they were generally at less injury-prone positions, like QB and even some pass-catching TEs (Gronk, etc.).
We should be – by this next season – looking to draft or trade for Bosa’s replacement. Or at least a capable backup that plays a similar style. I think Huff will fill in nicely, but would be great to have a pair of them on pass downs, as our amazing rookie moves inside on those downs. We need to trade aging vets for more picks. Or let them go via free agency and use the compensatory picks wisely, to trade up, etc. Build for the system. The Niners system is unique enough that we aren’t always competing for the top stud blue-chip prospects (as dubbed by the ‘experts’). This is why we have so much success from rounds 3-5. Our type of players, that fit the system, often drop down.
The organization has a good system in place, and it just needs to be fed – like recent drafts.
