Jeff Blashill on Facing Detroit | Chicago Blackhawks
We didn’t uh no turbine today. Yeah. Yeah. Basically maintenance. I expect them to be ready Thursday, but this gives them two days off. Okay. How much? Go ahead. I was going to say question. Are you ready for a game as much as we are? Yeah. Yeah. You know, I think you know I said it I think yesterday like when you you know when you start camp you’re excited to practice and by day six you’re ready for a game you know and so and then probably a week from now be ready for real games, you know. But it’ll be good. It’ll be good to get on the ice and see. The guys will be a little tired. Um, so they’re going to have to grind through, but as you guys know, uh, lots of nights, uh, you got to play tired. So, we’ll have to grind through it a little bit and then they’ll get a good day off tomorrow. Will the goalie split tonight or uh, no. Um, we’re going to go full game for Sod. As a coaching staff, what are you guys looking in the evaluation process in the first preseason? Um, I I think honestly there’s probably two levels. one is a team level where um we want to look at systematically uh you know the areas we had a little meeting from our scrimmage yesterday. We just keep building our our system game um and then and then individual player stuff both from uh um you know habits and fundamental uh side of stuff but then also um you know just evaluating the guys and who’s making an impact and who’s not. At the end of the day, you know, I used to scout uh in college and when you go watch a game, you know, some guys skate fast and look what, but who really impacts the game? Who creates who creates opportunities and who gives up opportunities? And that’s what we’ll be looking at. A guy like Reich entering this camp kind of like trying to still find his spot in this franchise. Yeah. Giving him a spot on that top line. And then what are you hoping to see out of him on that come? Well, it just gives him, you know, he’s a skilled player, so it gives him a chance to to to obviously play with some good skilled players. Um, you know, I think for for Lucas’s case again, like how the impact you make on the game, you know, you can’t give up a bunch defensively cuz it’s really hard to outscore your mistakes. Um, but you got to create and, you know, if you’re on a top line like that, you ultimately have to create. So, I mean, it’s just the other line goes and uh it’ be a good first first game to evaluate. Kevin, what have you seen this week and putting him with Conor and Lucas? You know, I think we’re going to get a better chance to evaluate Colton in real games uh than let’s say yesterday’s scrimmage. I think part of what Colton’s game has to be is is bringing us edge and physicality and those types of things. And it’s up. Whoa, that was close. Wow. Watch out. we have we’ll be wearing bike helmets. Um, but it’s hard it’s hard for him to uh uh, you know, do that in the scrimmage. You’re not going to, as much as we want to play hard, we don’t want him running over each other, you know. So hopefully he can bring that element of physicality, bring that element of edge, be hard at the net with skill. He’s got a good combination. If he can really capture that, also you got a really big body that has good skill, but also can kind of bring that uh that power winger mentality. Good. We’re all kid now. Yeah, exactly. Thanks everybody. Thank you.

I love seeing these interviews of coaches and players… With all due respect could we upgrade the mics so we can hear the questions and answers?
