  1. weird asf that his pokemon hobby has caused his teammates to lose respect for him, god forbid a hockey player likes something besides hockey

  2. It’s clearly tongue in cheek. God Reddit sucks sometimes. According to DeBrusk, that redemption effort now includes covering coffees and team lunches. “I don’t know if I’m just paying for everything now. It’s getting a little suspect, not gonna lie.”

  3. Well now. I gotta go back and watch Slapshot again. Them Hanson brothers had some hobbies on the road trips, ya know?

  4. Such a dumb article to present this as an actual issue. He’s loved in the room, they recently did a video where the prompt is “say something nice about a teammate” and many of the responses were about how good a guy Debrusk is.

Even the interview where he said he lost street cred for his new hobby he was clearly saying it with a smile.

No one on the team thinks less of him for this.

  5. Jfc, this was all tongue in cheek. Nobody actually cares about it and guys will rib guys for absolutely ANYTHING different- it’s what good locker rooms do. Nothing to see here.

  6. Click bait title. But yeah, it’s not a big deal. It’s all just jokes. DeBrusk hasn’t “lost respect” from his teammates. The Canucks Instagram also released a “say something nice about a teammate” video and he was the only one to have multiple teammates say something nice about him (including a funny one from Forbort saying DeBrusk is the best at catching Pokemon).

DeBrusk is easily one of the most likeable players on the team, and liking Pokemon or even just collecting the cards to make some bank on the side makes him more likeable as a person honestly. Players like to take jabs at each other in a tongue in cheek way.

  7. Yeah, to be honest, that’s pretty bad.

Unless he’s a bagarre like Boogarde, then his teammates would say: ‘that’s awesome!’
