  1. Just unbelievably sad, pathetic and embarrassing.

I just don’t see how this team isn’t a two and done in the playoffs.

  2. 0-5 since popping champagne for a PLAYOFF BIRTH with meaningful games left to play

this sorry ass team is gonna be playing the WC series in SD

  3. Priester is pitching for brewers tomorrow, they are also fighting to lock down the home field. San Diego play Arizona this weekend

  4. Matt Shaw has created a massive distraction in one of the most critical parts of a season. How can you not question how locked in he is with this team right now?

  5. Did the players not like the taste of champagne? Just curious cause they seem to be avoiding it

  6. Dansby’s biffing on a would-be double-play ball and ensuing chaos from that error reminded me a lot of another rather infamous error at that position in Cubs history.

Speaking of the postseason, everything after the 4th tonight felt like a game from the 2015 NLCS.

  7. Apt performance after all the Shaw garbage. Clearly a clubhouse in a great and resilient headspace, we’ve come a long way from JT’s testicle dance

  8. pretty humiliating to clinch, celebrate, and then lose 5 straight against fellow wild card opponents. Not sure where this team’s spirit has gone but we need to find it fast. Infuriating game, abysmal defense/pitching with 2-outs, I think 8 of their 9 runs came with 2 outs. time to get off the fucking mat and win 1 game. I don’t want us to have to fly to San Diego.

  9. I remember looking forward to facing the Brewers. There’s no chance we make it past the Padres as is

  10. No matter how bad it gets, at least I can take solace in the fact that we’ll never be as pathetic as Mets fans. Every time anything remotely bad happens, they climb up on the cross and whine about how cursed their franchise is.

  11. ![gif](giphy|7ILfGZFvTPMB1TAkXE)

Gonna lose home field advantage and then gonna get 2-0 in the wildcard. Its plain as day.

  12. Absolutely disgusting loss. Wrong time of the season for the Cubs to have their longest losing streak of 5 games. Complete collapse by the bullpen coughing up a 5 run lead

  13. it feels so on brand for us to embarrass ourselves against the mets… please get it together i can’t take another loss 🙁

  14. I just can’t believe it. They spend the whole year just being solid and not being too streak one way or the other and then they just lose five straight.

  15. This team loves to blow it whenever anything matters.

Huge division lead … blown quickly.

Ryno dies … lose a game.

Rizzo retires … lose a game.

Home field advantage … lose 5 straight games.

  16. This organization is a joke. Can’t believe we extended Jed for this team just so we can do the same thing or worse next year. It doesn’t matter where this team is playing or who they are playing against in the wild card round. They’re getting their asses handed to them.

  17. I never want to see a celebration for clinching a WC spot again win the division then you can. To do that then immediately lose 5 straight is beyond disgraceful.

  18. Remember when the Cubs celebrated like they won the World Series after clinching a WILD CARD spot and then proceeded to lose five straight games

  19. Worrying thing is there’s still no power from this line up. Felt more like the Mets gave up runs than anything.

  20. I didn’t think it was possible to collapse after you already clinched a playoff spot but this team might just do it. I wonder how much the whole Shaw missing games to attend political rallies situation has to do with it.

  21. If the cubs wanted a vacation to San Diego they could’ve found an easier way of going about it..

  22. Starting Shaw after he abandons the team is unfathomable to me. Spineless Craig doesn’t have a clue

  23. I’m still trying to learn how Counsell was an upgrade from his predecessor when he’s overseeing this sort of effort density the final 2 1/2 months
