New York Mets vs Chicago Cubs – FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | September 23, 2025 MLB Season

against the Washington Nationals as Lindor scalds one in the gap left center and this is going to fly out of here defying the wind. Francisco Lindor. A leadoff home run for the Mets on the night. You didn’t expect to see one of those. Had seven on the board before a lot of fans even got to their seats. Now Alonzo stings one to center field. Pro Armstrong almost fell down. Able to make the catch for the out. That’s another one that would have been in the seats. I’d be it’d be more believable at 30 miles an hour. Sodto gets a dancing lead and he’s going to steal second base without a throw. Timed it perfectly. Are his career high. Soft liner in right center. The win knocks that down and a base hit. So Nicoer who checks in third in the league in hits. ABS system. The challenge system is coming. Her takes off, pitches a cold strike three. The throw leaks into center but Lindor backs it up. corner stays put. That comes in Dodgers with the two lineups that were making most of the headlines. There’s a little half swing. Didn’t mean to do it. Peterson gets over there quickly and fields it. Fires to third and her is David Peterson deals and runner takes off. Looked like Alvarez was content to let Kelly steal a base. Second and third now. Santana fly ball deep right field. Sonto is back and he reaches up. He misplayed it. Two runs are in. Santana to second base. Starling Marte high fly ball to center. Another one off the barrel, but Crow Armstrong will make that play for the out. He’s got as good a chance as any right now. Has not gone well in the outfield. That’s a bullet into left field. Matt Shaw rings one to left. A walk and a single. Corner infielders coming in here. Pro Armstrong gets a bug down. Better hurry it over. Batty does. And there is the first out as the Cubs wildard series matchups. Line drive into left field. Nico her with a base hit. One run is in. Turner scores. Nico her is two for two. Three and two. Runner goes line shot and it’s going to get down and split the gap. Coming in to score is Shaw. Nico her will score behind him. Two more runs are in as he in half blisters one into the gap in left center. Two young players in Crow Armstrong and Horton you build a franchise around as Sodto bounces out. Kade Horton three up, three down after his Cubs added to their lead. It is 5 to one. We go to the bottom of the third in Wrigley Field. Cubs lead it. Turner against Jammed on a hop out to Lindor. And that is a one, two, three inning. So five in a row retired for Brazil in the day. Line drive into left field. Bentos with a base hit. Two out single for the Mets designated hitter. There’s a little soft lighter just past the outstretch Lindor in the left field to go as it’s a base hit for Pete Crow Armstrong. Half on the ground. McNeel gloves it to his feet and throws it away. In to score is her sea. Suzuki with a runner at first on the ground. Here’s Lindor and out at second base to end the inning. Couple of errors by McNeel. There’s a hot smash right back up the middle. Sroka gives up a single to Starling Marte and a single to start the fifth inning for the Mets. Big bouncer to short and Swanson cannot scoop it. That one’s in left center and Alvarez on his way to second and he’s in. Hustles his way to second. That one’s on the ground into the back. Going to get a run in. Her makes a play. So the Mets are on the board in this fifth inning. He didn’t really commit to the notion that one year leads to the next as that one’s driven into right. That is going to be off the top of the ivy. Alonzo hits a rocket to right center. First and third for the Mets. Big opportunity for him. And that ball’s driven deep into right field. That’s got a chance. It is up and gone. Brandon NMO a mammoth home run. Takes some girth to pull a net down like that. by the way. It’s impressive. On the ground to short, Lindor rounds it and takes care of Carson Kelly for out number one. That is a called strike three and Batty is rung up. We’re ahead of the Mets via the tiebreaker. There’s a base hit. McNeel goes down the line. He’s thinking about two and Suzuki’s throw comes in late. It’s a belly flop double. Lindor cracks one to center field, a base hit. And the Mets are going to grab the lead as Francisco Lindor a two out, two strike RBI single. Seven to six Mets. Line drive to right. That’s down. A base hit. And Nicoer is a hitting machine right now. That’s his third hit on base for the fourth time. Three balls and a strike to count and Hat ever patient draws the walk. Suzuki a line drive base hit back up the middle coming around to score is Nicoer. Seya Suzuki delivers in the clutch. Two out RBI to tie this game at seven. 77 ball game as we go to the seventh and it’s Kitridge against Alonzo and Shaw makes the play. Alonzo is out number one. 3-2 bouncing ball never lies. It’s not exactly how that went, but it’s the right idea. Andrew Jones make all the plays. Nice sound Andrew there. Fly ball shallow center win knocking this down. NMO can’t get there. On his way to second. Nope. Justin Turner wisely throws up the brakes. And there goes Alcantra. Pitches up and away. No chance. Throw skips away from Lind the All-Star group. And he swings and misses. And really strikes him out. Stuck with the bread and butter. That’s a big out for the Mets here with six to play. And Batty dumps one into left field. A fair ball. Batty thinking about two. Will pull up. He’ll settle for a single. Field bar. Rogers and Palmers. And that’s a punt in the air. And an easy play for Kelly. And then a fly ball out by McNeel. And there goes Akuna. Pitch is outside. Thrown to second. Into center field it goes. Hitters count. And a highf fly ball deep into left center and she is gone. Francisco Alvarez a wind cheater. A two-run home run and the Mets have a 9-7 lead. What a bomb that was. Alvarez enjoying his entire journey around the bases. Six outs to get. Lindor pops this one up. Wind’s got a hold of it. Not a lot of room over there. Real quick, Ronnie, you bringing Diaz in because you got Horner in half for the He’s coming in for save. Three hits. Now he’s gone. Diaz first batter. A strikeout looking a backwards K to start his night. Take him out. move on. That ball’s hit pretty well. Left field line, but Nemo is there and the inning is over in a very efficient 12 pitch inning for Edwin Diaz. One, two, three with a couple of games closer. Juan Sodto starts it for the Mets. And Sono chops one to first and there is out number one. Game I think that’s the obvious choice. Been some talk about him maybe playing the outfield in the postseason. Bouncing ball to third and no throw. Matt Shaw wisely hangs on to it. Welcomed in a baby. Bouncing ball to third. Shaw winds it up and that is the inning. And here we go. Bottom of the ninth. Edwin Diaz one. Slider in the other batters box probably now. Two- two pitch. Swanson swings and misses. Diaz with the two inning save. And the New York Mets come back. Their biggest comeback of the year.

  1. Embarrassing. Look, I'm not saying the Cubs enjoy losing, but I am saying it doesn't bother them all that much. This team has no heart. They clearly don't deserve to be in the playoffs, and they'll be out in 2 games. And they'll take the flight home from San Diego celebrating the end of the work year.
