Nationals vs. Braves Game Highlights (9/23/25) | MLB Highlights
Well, the Braves currently had the longest active win streak in major league baseball after the 11 5 win in the series opening against the Nationals is now a nine game win streak for Atlanta. They’ve averaged eight runs per game over the stretch by outscoring the opponents by 46 runs. This is game two of three against Washington. It’ll be Nunez Abrams for the Nationals here in the first inning. Walter is able to get the strikeout here against Nunez to start this ballgame on a Tuesday night. Here’s Wood Abrams behind him. There’s a good looking swing to right balls, got some hook on. It looks like James Woods heading for a 38th double he falls but he’ll still get there. Yikes helmet laying down two thirds of the way from first to second. Nice and easy swing right there too. Nothing just overdo it. That’s ok. Got long strides makes up for it. And quite honestly, the nats have not done a great job of advancing runners or bringing them in, in scoring position and this tapper to the right Olson will do it himself and the Nationals will leave a runner at third one. Hit one left. Most interesting bottom of the first inning as brad Lord takes the mound like Waldrup, he is a rookie. So the last chance for these two guys to make an impression here in the rookie season change up out into right center leadoff single jerks and pro far a bouncer to second Nunez Pounces. Now, Bobbles that limits the opportunity for a double play. Goes to first base to get Olson and a 4 to 3. Put out down a second for Prova. He’s in scoring position with one down for 95 from Brad Lord gets by a two away. Braves have been averaging eight runs per game during their nine game winning streak and Drake with a chopper left side, third baseman House has it as he’s going to his left, he fires on the run that’s in time of the out and that is the bottom of the first inning, bottom of the second. First pitch swung on a ground ball up the middle Nunez right there. Feels off his left side and fires on the garcia at first and there’s one away five in a row for Lord second strikeout. Now zero for five against him with four K. Here is Marcelo of the designated hitter pitch in there called strike three change up, caught him looking and the inning is over time to empty the tank, isn’t it last start of the year and missed inside again. Leadoff. Walk to House. Here’s Jacob Young first pitch to Young shot out to short Kim’s got it triggers the second. There’s one wise to first in time. Nice play. I got the K so quickly on the short hop right in front of his shoes, got a underhand side arm to second wisely there to finish up the play. So three walks here in this inning for Hurston Waldrup. You know, we’ve talked about the adjustment he made in his leg kick before he got called up and what a difference it’s made in his command, but he’s kind of rushing that a little bit. It appears to me tonight through the right side for CJ. Abrams. Nunez is going to come home and the Nationals get the lead here in the third inning. Oh, great job by CJ. First pitch in the runners in scoring position gets on top. Maybe a wave of base runners here. That’s a great swing and now James Wood won’t score from second on that. The Nats have three hits. Pardon me? Three walks and two hits and they might score one run in this inning. Here’s garcia, he’s going to hit one to left a run scoring but frustrating inning for the nets stranding three after lots of traffic. Fourth inning, 10 nationals two and two on House and the pitch is bounced toward the middle. That’s a base hit House has reached twice. Now, a leadoff walk last inning and a bounding ball single here with two outs in the Young grounded into a double play last inning. Well, finally where nobody is stationed, Brady House makes the turn hits for third, great two swings by Jacob Young tonight. See if Nunez can make him pay with two outs taken off for second. Now they got him in a run down and a great play full extension from Hasan kim to get Young before Brady House can try to score yet again. That 1st and 3rd steel play does not work for the Nats. They have run that so many times and not run it well at all this year, Nunez three for four with a homer last night. Waldrup gets a strikeout good curveball. He had Nunez out in front. This will put Waldrup over 75 pitches tonight. Broken bat heads up, Walder able to avoid it. And by a step is James Wood is what is laying in the middle of the infield. The two pitch swung on, roll to the right side. There’s wisely brets got it fires to first in time in the inning is over and a much needed 123 inning for Wal. We go to the bottom of the fifth right down one Michael Harris the second. He likes hitting against his team and Michael’s been pretty good here lately. This ball is launched right center folks. We are tied at one, his 18th homer of the year and his 83rd RB. I Lord have been really difficult to elevate against and someone finally did and Harris made sure that was way out of here. That was a no doubt of the right field inning gone by. Now. We start the top of the sixth and one pitch and one out for Hurston Waldrup good start to the sixth inning. You know, he is thinking about trying to get through this one, potentially get himself a win. That pitch count is in a pretty good spot here and he got him again, three strikeouts against Adams tonight for Hurston Waldrup. Here’s a strikeout in the Grounder Ronald right center, right where Harris hit his homers and a 2 to 1. Braves lead. Brad Lord was just cruising along. Everything was going fine. He had retired 13 in a row. Harris Homers last inning and now with two outs here in the sixth, Acuna does the same jumped all over it and he knew at the second it came off the bat beautiful shot to right field. New pitcher for the nationals. Connor Pilkington will come on the left hander and he will face Michael Harris leading off the bottom of the seventh Braves up 2 to 1. Michael Harris again out to right center again, well struck and again, it is sixth time in the career Michael Harris where he is hit two home runs in a game first time this year. And I really want to know if he’s thinking about it. I mean, the fact that we’ve all of a sudden seen this push with the stolen bases and the Homers and getting just a little bit closer here to a 2020 season is Michael Harris celebration chain over there for money. Mike Dylan Lee comes on to work the eighth inning for the Braves set by Lee. The pitch to woods swung on hit of the year to deep. Right center field is watching this one and it is gone. Goodbye over the 16 ft wall and tucks down into the Braves bullpen elevate to celebrate another left on left homers 11th off a lefty this year, a nice easy swing just like the first time that first one was a double. This one being a homer all or nothing in for so far. And now he deals with Garcia garcia to right A has to move. He makes the catch and that will do it for the nationals. And now it’s Rice Iglesias always so efficient and it’s going to be one pitch and one out said we might see Josh Bell at some point off the bench and here he is pinch hitting in the ninth and he takes ball four. The tying runs aboard. No likely run for him. Yesterday was a six run victory for Atlanta 11 to 5 and now just clinging to that one run lead looking for two more outs. This should be the second one. Harris Hartley had to move two away. Jacob young, the last hope for the Nationals. Rice. So Iglesias has what he wants. He struck him out number 10 in a row, longest streak in three seasons for Atlanta. And what a great night it was at the ballpark, Waltrip picking up a win in his last start of the year and Iggy getting that save great night for Michael Ronald, a home run as well. And boy, it has been fun to watch this team play as well as they have here lately.

A shame we couldn't play like this 3 months ago
Too much talent on this Braves team to not at least be decent next season. Let’s get back to winning in ‘26.
We are just trying to play at this point. Let's go Braves 🔥
As soon as Lee comes in for relief, I sigh 😂
The Braves are undefeated when:
Hurston Waldrep has 5+ Ks (7-0)
Joel Payamps pitches (1-0)
Brett Wisely plays (1-0)
Michael Harris has a 2 homer game (1-0)
Great game from Money Mike today and some phenomenal pitching from the staff. The debuting guys showed out with a scoreless inning from Payamps and a walk from Wisely, Chop On 🪓
Love the heart, even on a down year.
To bad they couldn’t win ten in a row 2 months ago when it mattered
