With that said, let’s talk about the latest with the Jets. How about a little recap of everything that happened yesterday? Because there were a ton of moves. You don’t typically see this many type of moves. It was a combination of injuries and a combination of I think Aaron Glenn and Darren Muji trying to improve this team after an 0 and3 start. Here’s the tweet from Simeini that kind of recaps things. Linebackers Quincy Williams and Marcelino McCra Ball both placed on injured reserve. That does not mean their seasons are over. It just means they are out a minimum of four games. Quincy’s injury was already reported as something that’s weeks but not season ending, but he’s down at least four games. McCra Ball, not that he’s been great, but he is a special teams uh you know ace. He’s a team captain. He’s now down. So then the Jets yesterday, they signed Mark Robinson, who’s a linebacker from the Patriots practice squad. He’s now on the act of 53. And they also added linebacker Ben Neman, who’s played 103 career games, to the practice squad. So, some moves there at linebacker. And then the biggest move by far, they acquired cornerback Jarvis Brownley Jr. in a trade with the Titans. Now, some key information on Brownley Jr. He is someone that has started 16 games, including two this past season. He’s in his second year. He was inactive last week with an ankle injury. He was seen in a boot, so I’m not sure if he’s going to be healthy to even play Monday against the Dolphins. In his career, he has two interceptions, 10 passes defense, 11 accepted penalties. That’s been the knock on him. He’s been highly penalized in his career. But I’ll tell you what, this is not the end all beall, but Titans fans were not happy at all that their front office seemingly gave up on this player. This is from a guy named Dylan on Twitter who put this little recap together. Take a look at some Titan stuff here, right? Look at their fans commenting on the team’s post announcing that they traded away uh Jarvis Brownley here. You could see all the fans that are living and dying with their team are just despondent with this move. So, I’m not telling you Jet fans that the Jets acquired, you know, the next No Rivas here, but it does feel like they acquired a player who has tremendous upside, has made plays in the league before, and he’s under team control now for a couple more years. given how poorly Brandon Stevens has played, even a guy we really like in Michael Carter. Sauce has had two bad games outside of that one great game week one, like it just feels like uh the Jets are trying to be proactive here to at least get more talent in that room, Nick. Yeah. And immediately, you know, I don’t know if you did the same thing, but I text C right away to see what his draft report was on the guy since he’s fairly young. And he said, “I’m actually looking uh for his notes.” And he goes, “I remember liking him a lot. He played at Louisville. He was a real physical, scrappy kind of corner. Thought he was going to play slot at the next level, but Tennessee had him playing outside. So, I mean, this begs the question, what are they going to do with Carter who’s been dinged up a little bit, right? There’s been some people out there suggesting you move Carter or you have another guy who come in who can give Carter a break now and then or are you moving Stevens to safety? Like, are you Because Cisco has been horrible at pass coverage. He should have gave up a long touchdown the other day, but Mayfield didn’t see the guy wide open. Uh, so I like getting another younger body in the room. I like getting someone who’s physical and can tackle on the perimeter. Uh, listen, is it a is it going to make us a contender? No. But if you can get a young physical guy in there and correct the penalties with him, all right, you’re you’re trying, right? like Muji went and saw that we had a problem at defensive tackle, went and brought two guys in. This is also a player that Mike Greyel and the New England Patriots reached out to and we beat them to the punch. So, they were trying to see if this guy had availability also, but the Titans sent them to us. Obviously, they’re probably not sending him to Bradel to help him, right? But, you know, it’s it’s a young guy. It’s a physical guy and if you want to play that Aaron Glenn scheme and you want to have your your corners be physical and tackle, this this could be a guy who shows some promise. Do I expect a ton right away? No. But if you implement them, you coach him up in the offseason, maybe, you know, next year he can have a a more uh a bigger role. But right now, it’s it’s a it’s a better body to add to the room. The the fact of the matter is you didn’t give up really anything to acquire him. And it’s similar to the Harrison Phillips trade and the Jawan Briggs trade that Darren Muji made over the summer. Like it makes your room better. Now those ma those moves were like completely necessary because if you look at, you know, the defensive tackles they had before that, they were not, you know, rosterable players in a lot of cases. So, uh, I I like it because this guy’s got some upside and he’s better than another sixth round corner that you could draft in this upcoming draft. So, I I like trading away late day three picks for more proven commodities, especially because this guy has flashed some talent. And for what it’s worth, I know PFF grades aren’t the end- all beall. He’s currently the number one ranked corner in football at stopping the run. So, he’s a physical, you know, big corner that can make plays. So, I think Aaron Glenn likes it. And look, big picture, Michael Carter was not a move that Darren Muji and Aaron Glenn made as far as the extension. they could get out of his contract after this year for minimum cap relief. So, if they wanted to move on from Carter, uh they could. Or if Carter gets banged up again, you have more depth there. I do think the possibility of Stevens, you know, moving to safety down the line could be in play because they do have a Thomas who they use a third round pick on and I’d like to see more of him. So, it does give you some more options here. Um, which I think is a good thing because at 0 and three and the defense being to me the biggest reason why they haven’t won a damn game yet. they’ve been unable twice to win the game and get a stop and the Jets could be two and one right now if they were able to do that. Uh I I do like the idea of adding some talent to that room, especially when you lose a guy like Quincy Williams who’s had an up and down year, but he’s a really good player. So, your defense is taking a hit, so at least you’re adding someone in Brownley who, you know, is a good player that could help, you know, add some more talent to your defense overall. Yeah. And an idea that I had last night was with Quincy being out and Quincy being someone who primarily will cover running backs and the amount that they throw to uh a chain out of the backfield. Do you bring this guy in and allow him in certain sets to cover the running back? You know, because they will throw swing passes, they will get him the ball. Do you bring in Brownley and say, “You know what, we’re going to maybe use you in a linebacker set and you be the guy that covers the running back out of the back field since you can tackle well in the open field in your physical.” You know, you might not want to have Kico out there covering Achain, right? Because that’s that’s not a good matchup for us. So, I don’t know. I’m always looking at getting creative on the defensive side of the ball and doing things outside the box to put the advantage on our side. And if you got a guy who can run and can tackle, put him out there. 100%. Yeah, I I I I don’t see, you know, the downside to this move. And once again, you know, it’s not the end all beall, but Titans fans are big mad over this. That to me is a good thing because they watch them. And corner is one of those positions, too, where unless you’re watching a guy every game, every snap, it’s tough sometimes to get a true a true evaluation on, you know, how good they are cuz corner stats could be misleading. Dro Rivas didn’t get a lot of interceptions in his career. No one threw his way. So, you have to uh sometimes watch these guys game and gave out to get a true evaluation. So, I I I like the move. As far as losing Quincy, it’s a blow. I do wonder depending on how long he’s out and what the Jets record is if he’s someone that they’d consider moving closer to the deadline. He’s a free agent at the end of the year. I don’t know if they’re going to be able to pay him after they already paid Sherwood and made that decision. So, uh, I’m not saying it’s the end necessarily for Quincy Williams because we don’t know, you know, how long he’s out for. Next time Aaron Glenn speaks, maybe we get some sort of update there, but we know it’s at least four weeks. And if the Jets don’t start winning some games here, Nick, you do wonder if a guy like Quincy, who’s a free agent, could be someone they move just to get something if they know he’s not in their long-term plans. Yeah, you want to start getting some W’s here and your schedule starts to be more favorable now. And uh you know for those of that are on the edge of the cliff, we’re really two plays away. A kick returner not fumbling it and Garrett Wilson breaking up a pass or tapping back another foot or two catching it from possibly being two and one. So I don’t think it’s as bad as every obviously the results suck. We get that. But we’re not as awful as I think the record says and that’s the way I’m viewing it. And you know you didn’t have Fields. You lost him after seven quarters. You had a change to Taylor. You’ve lost ABT. You lost Germaine. You lost Quincy. We’re getting dinged up with some really key valuable players. And I I think we’re close, Jake. I really do. And I don’t think that it’s as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be. Like, who had the Jets averaging 23 points a game? None of us really, right? We if we’ve had 23 points a game, we would say we’re probably two and one or maybe even three and 0. But, you know, I think the defense will get corrected. And based on what though, because to push back on you a little bit, like they they’ve gone out there and they are on pace right now to allow a franchise record in points. Now you’re down Quincy. Germaine, we don’t know what his status is. Like they we knew that if they suffered a bunch of injuries, they were in trouble there because they didn’t have the depth. And we’re seeing that, especially at linebacker and edge where they have already suffered, you know, two injuries and one to Quincy that we know is at least a four game four games absence. like I I just I don’t know if it’s getting that much better. Now that said, you want to try and give fans something. Go beat the Dolphins who are 0 and3. Feels like there’s a lot of turmoil going on in that locker room right now. Some uncertainty with the head coach. Like, you know, you want to say, “Oh, they’re 0 and three. What’ you expect? You know, they’re 8-1 combined record of the Jets opponent so far.” That’s fine. Next couple games you’re playing teams that are all under 500, including a team in your division that has owned you. Like, go beat Miami on Monday night and we could talk. If they lose to the Dolphins, I don’t know how anyone is going to try and spin any sort of positivity. Correct. I mean, if you lose to Tua, it it’s going to be uh awful to be on Twitter or in YouTube chats, but I I think that a lot of the mistakes that I see on film are correctable. And that’s the issue. It’s not guys just getting beat all the time. It’s it’s the scheme. It’s the other day the Sterling Shepard play on the on the final drive, they did a zero blitz. They had two guys on the bottom covering three. It was a quick pitch to Sterling and he just ran for 20 yards. So that’s schematic [ __ ] That’s play call things that that can get corrected. So I think Glenn’s got to sit down with Wilks and say this is what we got to do here. This is what I want done here. You can’t be doing things like this and leaving three receivers for two guys to cover. It just doesn’t make sense. So I think there’s a lot of correctable things. If they were playing at their best and still getting beat, then I wouldn’t have any hope or I wouldn’t have any faith. And I I’m not I’m looking at it schematically. Schematically, there’s things that we can do to put ourselves in better situations throughout the game. I’m not going to sit here and just throw my hands up or throw my hat at the wall because the play didn’t work out. I look at it and say, “Why didn’t it work out?” And there’s things that can be corrected and improved upon. In my opinion, from what I see, assuming Justin Fields clears protocol, I think he should definitely be uh this team’s quarterback on Monday. It feels like a good matchup for the Jets to have a similar game plan to what worked well against the Steelers. The Dolphins defense is allowing 145 rushing yards per game. So, this is an opportunity to get Bree Hall going, get Fields going with the RPOS’s and different looks uh as a runner, get Brilan Allen finally to have that big game that so many Jet fans were hyping all summer. Like, this has got to be a game where you score points and can you force a damn turnover. I mean, the Jets and Dolphins, by the way, are the only two teams in the NFL that have yet to force uh a turnover defensively because technically, I thought the Will McDonald block field goal would count as a takeaway, but according to ESPN stats and info, it didn’t. But seriously, a defensive takeaway, that is what they’re going to have to do if they’re going to win this game on Monday. Yeah. I mean, we’ve lost two games because of giveaways. So, you see how valuable it is and how much it can change a game. You know, it can change your entire season. you know, if Gibson doesn’t fumble and that pick six doesn’t happen and we’re sitting in a really good position right now, probably feeling really good about this team because they found ways to win games. Instead, they they found ways to lose two games. So, I I know Tua doesn’t turn the ball over often, but when he does, it comes in bunches. So, if you can take away, and listen, we know what McDaniel’s going to do, right? It’s going to be quick passes, first read, get the ball out of his hands, use the scheme to get guys open and have Tua get rid of it quick where they can set up a lot of catch and run. So, you either got to get the pressure there quick or you have to play up man press and eliminate the you can’t have guys eight, nine yards off the line and they throw a quick screen to like Tyreek Hill and now you got three, four blockers out in front of him or Wadd or Aching. You got to put pressure up on these guys, play physical, disrupt their timing and that’s when interceptions will come. when you’re eight yards off the line, you’re just asking for a quick pitch and catch and get five, six yards before you come up and make the tackle. So, I again, it comes down to schematically what they’re doing. Also, we’re the only defense in the NFL. Not uh the Jets have just signed running back Lawrence DeFle back to the practice spot. He’s back, baby. Yeah. So, champion. He’s the guy that scored the touchdown in the last preseason game. Yeah. So, they just brought him back. Now, you know, you got to disrupt Tua’s timing. You got to make him move his feet. You got to take away his first read. And that’s when you can really have fun on this defense. But they have to do that. And and they haven’t yet. I think after the first three quarterbacks we played, you see a drop off in the next couple games. Either inexperienced or got, you know, Prescott’s without CD Lamb. Uh Tua hasn’t looked good. You know, then you got Nicks who’s still young. You know, there’s there’s young inexperienced or overhyped quarterbacks on the horizon. We’re not playing the best of the best right now. This is where you got to get these W’s and you got to get the ball. You got to get the quarterback. You got to put his ass on the ground. You got to knock the ball out. You got to find a way to change the game and make it easier for your offense. FanDuel is our presenting sponsor and the latest odds for Jets Dolphins on Monday night. Giveaway, your chance to win a signed Ken O’Brien jersey. It’s Dolphins week. Everyone remembers the famous O’Brien vers Marino shootout. Jets won 51 to 45. Kenny O signed jersey up for grabs at the end of the show. gift memberships for your chance to win or send in a signed or send in a $10 super chat or higher to earn two raffle tickets like Spencer did here. He says, “Hold on, Jake. I got gas right now.” Oh, Spencer Greenbreaker. Nick, your thoughts on that impersonation? You nailed it. I didn’t know how [Music] Thank you very much. Uh, Big Loyal says, “What about CJ Gardner Johnson?” I don’t think the Jets are going to bring in a guy who was a malcontent and frustrated and didn’t jive well with coaches on a team in Houston that’s also 0 and3. So, I don’t think they’re going to add CJ Gardner. Now, they did, I’d be like, “Okay, fine. We need more a-holes on this defense.” Like, we need someone with, you know, that mentality, I think. But I I’d be surprised personally if the Jets put in a waiver claim on the former Texans, former Eagles safety. Agreed. And And what are you going to do? You’re going to sit Malachi Moore, but you’re trying to see if this is your safety of the future to play this guy? No. It’s I I don’t see them kicking the tires on this at all. Houston just traded for him in the offseason and they just flat out released him after three games. So that’s a major red flag for me. 100%. Ladies and gentlemen, memberships flying off the shelves. Colin Walford in the house. He just gifted five channel memberships. Colin, this is for you. Hello. You play to win the game. Today we’re playing to win a signed Ken O’Brien jersey. Kenny O Bose C. Bo, appreciate your support as always. If you got a membership from either Colin or Bo, make sure you thank them. I’m going to play you some audio here that I think is very interesting here. This is from Connor Rogers on Bad Lands. Of course, everyone watches Connor on pre and post for the Jets on SNY. This was Connor sharing his thoughts on the Jarvis Brownley trade and some interesting takeaways, I think, on potentially what it means for the future of this team going forward. So my first taste of of scouting him was when he got to the Senior Bowl. He looked really good at the Senior Bowl. He played over 200 snaps at both Louisville and Florida State. So he played a lot of college football, but he was just so feisty and competitive and physical. I haven’t followed his NFL career closely as people that follow the Titans and cover the Titans. It does seem like penalties have been an issue. He gets grabby. I have a lot of working theories with this one. Number one, I think they got good value here. I think Brownley is better than a sixth and seventh round pick swap. Number two, this is a regime front line by Aaron Glenn that has been feeling out what he has in the building. And I think he’s bringing in guys that are more in lock step with him and eventually weeding out guys from the previous regime. He needs more than one free agency to do that. But now they’re trying to do the like, hey, day three picks, especially sixth and seventh rounders, they have a very low hit rate. Let’s get something we know what it is, who they are instead, and then we’ll try to draft rounds 1 through four or 1 through five. Like Brownley most likely is going to be a better NFL corner than anybody you take at quarterback in the sixth or seventh round next year. But really, the third thing is you just kind of wonder if they just don’t like the room they have right now. So, you paid Sauce as the top corner. You paid Stevens as a very high-end number two. That was you. the previous regime paid Michael Carter. I don’t think this regime and coaching staff likes small corners. I am leaning where I’m like I’d be surprised if Michael Carter is is not a cap casualty after this year. As much as it pains us to say, I I feel somewhat unfortunately confident in that. I just don’t think they’re invested in him. They might realize that Stevens is bad and they already need to get ahead of that. So, they might look at this and go, well, if Stevens can’t play, we’re going to move on from Carter. Maybe next year we’re looking at Brownley in the slot and and Aaria Thomas and Sauce on the outside and the value added up for us right now. This to me unlike the Dline one was like we kind of want to shake things up and maybe even send a message. I hope it works because I have been so disappointed with the Jet defense and Aaron Glenn can’t come in and say we’re going to win now and going forward have eight of its 11 starters back on this defense. They paid Stevens. They chose to make that move. They chose to pay Cisco. They chose to bring back Tony Adams. They chose to keep Clemens and sell us on this being like somehow this like long-term rebuild on that side of the ball. It’s not. The defense has more than enough talent to be at least a above average unit. And right now they are on pace to be the worst defense in franchise history. It’s three games. I get it. But they got to be a lot better man. Like I this head coach is going to lose everybody if they get torched on Monday night against a Dolphins team that is in freef fall. Yeah. And I I think you know part of this is Jets luck, right? Michael Carter’s made two good plays this year. Both were negated because of the Clemens hit on Allen and then another penalty that the Jets accepted the other day. Like he got us off the field on third down, but then you know other things happened. But Carter hasn’t played well. I totally agree with Connor that they do want tall, longer, rangier corners, uh maybe even in the slot. So, I I think that’s a tremendous take and I think if you’re looking at what they want to do with this defense, they’re not going to commit to Stevens. If Stevens isn’t their guy long-term at corner, they’re going to play their guy. And if they got to eat the money, they’ll eat the money because they’re going to do what’s best for the team. They don’t have any allegiance to any player, any contract, any check. They have allegiance to getting better as a team. And if Thomas is better than Stevens, then you [ __ ] play him. If Brownley is better than Carter, you play him. And and you deal with it. Because if you’re gonna have accountability and you’re going to cut a guy for a fumble, everyone’s ass better be online. Because if you’re not performing, someone else will come in and try to do your job for you and eventually take it. To me, it’s just it’s it’s unacceptable for this defense to be this bad. And once again, all you need to do is get one stop at the end of this game and your entire season could be having a complete turnaround. This could have been the Cleveland Browns win on my birthday in 2022 where you had no business winning, but you stole it and then all of a sudden they rode that momentum and were able to get off to a 6 and3 7 and4 start. Now you buried yourself. You put yourself in an 0 and3 hole and in all likelihood you’re screwed. But can you at least show some fight? Like no one’s expecting the playoffs, but the upcoming schedule is favorable. And if you’re the Jets, you have to start winning football games, period. Like you cannot sit here and try and sell this fan base on you’re not the same old Jets and then lose to an 0 and3 team and then not be able to beat Dallas or Denver, Carolina, Cincy without Burrow. Like they won’t do this because I have no faith in this coaching staff. They got to show me for me to buy in. But like they should go 4-2 and then you’re four and five going into your buy with a chance after the buy to beat the Browns and or who do they play after the buy? Maybe it’s New England on Thursday. The Browns on Sunday, then we go to New England on Thursday. Like go four and two right now, right? And then put yourself in position to get back to 500. Like that’s that’s what I want to see happening. Do I buy it? No. But Aaron Glenn’s saying if you’re not the same old Jets, well that’s what you should do. That’s what you should do. That’s not unreasonable to expect that 100%. Th this this is where we were hoping to, you know, when when I broke down the season schedule, I broke it down into two game seasons. Pittsburgh, Buffalo, win one. Tampa, Miami, win one. You know, we beat Miami. Now you got Dallas without CD Lamb coming in who can’t stop anybody. We think our defense is bad. They’re giving up a ton more yardage than us. People down the field on Dallas at Look at Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson has 450 yards against that defense and the next week he looks washed and they benched him yesterday. Yeah, because they know it’s the Dallas defense is bad. It wasn’t Wilson being great. It was just them being awful. You know, Denver going to London. You never know with that trip how it’s going to affect each team. So, that that kind of is a great neutralizer. Then you got Carolina who I know they had a big win this past week. Cincinnati without Burrow. And then you got Cleveland, who’s Cleveland. So, if you’re going to write this ship and start to get it to turn, this is the part of the schedule that you want lying in front of you right now. comments, questions, super chats. They cut the line. The great Rick Kent is in the building. Great to hang out with Rick over the weekend in Tampa. He is in the Asaniac raffle to win a signed Kenny O jersey for five. [Applause] Rick, thanks for always supporting the channel. Phone lines open for those of you who want to get in on the conversation. Big fella checks in with a super chat. It’s hard to play defense 10 verse 11. Clemens is that bad. Add Stevens, Carter, and Adams to that. And this is how you get the worst defense in Jets history. I mean, Clemens is unplayable. And the fact that they continue to put him out there is a huge indictment on this front office and on this coaching staff because we all knew he couldn’t play and they put themselves in a spot where apparently the guys behind them are worse. But you know what? I’m starting to think that’s BS, too, because there’s just no way they could be any worse. And if they are just as bad, fine. At least they’re not going to commit a dumb personal foul penalty essentially every game. So, it’s enough of Michael Clemens. If you’re serious about holding guys accountable, stop playing him. He’s He’s honestly, if you look at some of the advanced numbers, he might be the worst football player in the NFL. Like, for a guy who plays the as many snaps as he does. Yeah. He’s out of position. He guesses. Uh he doesn’t seal the edge. He’s He doesn’t disengage when blockers get him. It’s It’s horrible to watch. The film is putrid. Like, he does nothing. The only thing he’s ever done good is punch Josh Allen in the nose and break his nose. That’s the only thing this guy’s done in three plus years. I I don’t get it. I would rather have a lesser physical imposing guy out there who’s smarter and more disciplined in the scheme to all you saw. Buffalo’s game plan was get the line going, cut back. get the line going, cut back because they know our ends aren’t disciplined enough to stay there and and play the run and seal the cut back. That’s the approach against the Jets. Their ends aren’t disciplined. Either Will McDonald can’t guard the run and Michael Clemens won’t guard the run because he’s going to try to guess and jump across the line instead of going up field two steps and then breaking in to guard the cutback. It’s really piss poor film and I don’t know how he’s still playing. It’s embarrassing. I mean, and it’s not even just him. the entire defense not knowing how to tackle. You see the screenshot on your screen, everyone. Bucky Irving gained 25 yards on this play. This play here, Bucky Irving gained 25 yards on this play. The Jets missed 19 tackles in this game on Sunday. They missed a ton of tackles week one, even more week two, and this past week was an abomination. I mean, ridiculous. Uh, they had 10 missed tackles in week two and eight in week one, and then they just had 19 in a single game. They had more in this past game than they did in the first two weeks. So, I don’t want to hear from this head coach, we’re not the same old Jets. We tell you as fans when you’re not the same old Jets. This is very same old Jets. So, until you win games, zip it. No one wants to hear that. And we’re all rooting for Aaron Glenn and he’s not responsible for a 15-year playoff trout. But don’t tell us you’re not the same old Jets. When you miss tackles, you remain undisiplined. You’ve yet to force a turnover all season on defense. You’ve turned the ball over plenty. You’ve been bad at the end of halves. You’ve been bad at the start of halves. How about that longass drive by Tampa? Uh what, 10 plays and bled so much of the third quarter uh to start uh the second half. I mean, I could keep going. Like there they can never get a big defensive stop. They twice failed. They basically quit against Buffalo. I I don’t want to hear you’re not the same old Jets. This is everything that the same old Jets have been during this playoff drought or specifically since 2016 because the Jets have not had a winning season. Have not even won more than seven games since then. Embarrassing. I I just they they better show up Monday night against Miami. It is a disgrace. It is insulting to this fan base. And they better show up, play a good game, and win a damn game. That’s all that matters. Win a football game. Agreed. I just It’s It’s enough. There you go. I’m I’m letting you cook, man. I I I see it. Breathe in through the nose, out through the mouth. There you go. Thank you. There we go. I feel better now. All right, reset. Reset. Here we go. Can I talk about Zip Recruiter? Let’s say hello first up today to a man who is trying to get a job. J O job job. Hello. How you doing, Jake? Hello. I’m here to see you today. And hello, Nick the Communist is here. Hi, communist. Hi. I saw your show last night. I appreciate it. Yeah, I do. So, Jake, how you doing today? I’ve been better. Oh, I’m doing good. It’s pouring out rain though today, but I Thank you for letting us know it’s raining. I know. Jake, you’re funny. Yeah, I did. I’m waiting for the price. I told you about the two jobs, right? Yes. Just that yesterday. Well, not on Indeed, on their on their website. So, yeah. So, yeah, I’m here. And the Yankees clinched the playoff spot. They did. Are we doing the weekly sports report right now? No, I just wanted to be happy. Okay. I’m happy for that. I am happy about that. I was worried. Yeah. So, how is Nick doing this fine morning? Nick, how are you doing on this fine morning? We were making jokes last night about how you ended your show so quickly and you got upset about Well, yeah. Well, when somebody says, “Oh, what my co-host said, that got me pissed.” Everything gets you pissed. Laugh it off, man. We’re all friends having fun. Don’t Don’t get pissed about in life. I did a 4hour show. That’s enough. Okay. All right. Okay. When I want to end, they tell you to keep on going. Um, I have a question for you. I can’t tell if it’s chocolate or did you miss shaving on the side of your mouth? Yeah, I think I missed shaving on the side of my mouth. No, I No, I shave I shaved and my mustache is coming. Forgot to shave. Yeah, but the side of the mouth. It looks like you’re an old puppet. I think you missed a Yeah, you got uh right next to the corners of your mouth. Not your mustache. No, the corner of your mouth. Like the lips on the side. Right here. Right there. Right there. Oh, okay. Yeah, I must have missed that. Yeah. Well, I got it this time and I shave it soon. Okay, good luck. The scrubby is coming back. The scruff is coming back. So, thank you, Jake, for having me on. I appreciate that. You got it, Bob. You have yourself a great day. All right. Yeah. I Oh, yeah. Uh, who’s on uh mystery o job. He just never changed, Bob. Uh, all right. More of your calls right now, ladies and gentlemen. I know what we all need. We need someone that’s going to come on the show. He’s going to make not one point. He’s not going to make two points or three or seven or 10. Maybe 13. Get ready for Neil. He will make 13 points about the New York Jets and maybe a hump of Patriots jersey. Get ready for Neil. He’s probably smoking a beard fat cigar and furnace house to the ground. That’s [Music] inside. Oh, wait. Wrong guy. A nameoth helmet. I’m modeling off my jersey that I got sent from the Shay Gasman show. Hey, it looks good on you, Neil. I’m glad it came in so quick. Look at this. You’re gonna wear it one day, baby. Nice. That white jersey with the green. I have the cleaning lady fumigating my office. You know, she’s taking out the tons of ashes that develop over the over. That’s why she has to wear the mask because who knows what that office smells like. Two people, two people that need to work on my place. Say hello to Duke. Duke is the Duke. I’m a North Carolina guy, so I’ll just say hello. Anyhow, I Nick, I’ll tell you, man. You have I agree with every little single thing you say. You are the most intricate, positive, wonderful addition. By the way, you’re I love your jacket. Where did you get that jacket from? The J. Here’s the best part. The quarter zip. Get out of the way. Oh, it’s a quarter zip. That thing is so cool. It’s got a cover for the zipper so that it doesn’t like pinch your neck or like your beard hair. There’s a flap that covers the zipper and stand up. I want to see that way it looks. Stand up. Model for us. Yeah. Come on. Oh yeah. Show us your body. That’s a nice I like that one. Oh yeah. And what’s on the front of your hat? It says Jets on the back. Oh, it’s the it’s the NY logo and the clover leaf. You’re wearing the uh clover leaf, Jake. Right. That’s right. Shout out to Chef Kevin. I got I gotta get over I gotta get to Chef Kevin and have some of his wonderful food because every time he gets on he my mouth starts to water like Pavlov’s dog because you know I I like to I like when a professional chef talks about food not when Gary and Bobby and all these not Bobby who’s the other guy that’s always talking about beast we have the worst food people on the show on the in the chat. No offense, but they are just horrendous. And when I hear uh Chef Kev, he gets me pumped. Anyhow, I didn’t really know, you know, I didn’t really come on I I just came on to say that the defense, all right, it’s not the roster that really makes a difference. That picture you showed, Jake, that is just like the Keystone Cops. You know, if I’m the coach and I’m looking at this film, Nick, right? I’m telling these guys, look, you’re over pursuing. You’re not staying in your lanes. You know, it’s just a mess. And you know, is at fault on this play. When you look at this play, the corner seals the outside. He does his job. His job on the corner is to never let the runner get to the sideline. It’s to turn him back where help is coming. Quincy completely over pursues and then basically eliminates anyone else from making the tackle because he’s in Sherwood’s way. So this is I know who’s the guy who’s the guy in the three-point stance. Who’s the guy in the three-point stand? That’s the corner. Is that Carter? I don’t know who that is, but yeah, cuz Stevens is on the bottom 21. That might be Carter number 30. And then he’s sealing the corner. That’s his job. Turn the runner back in where you have help. And Quincy really takes the bad angle here, which enables the whole play to happen. You know, look, I love Quincy, but he just overpursues. He never sets in tackles. He comes in like a missile. And when you come in like a missile like that, you know, he he’s had a ton of missed tackles. I would like to know. I tried to get on PFF and to see what his rating is after three games, but I got to tell you something. He’s not even in the top 40 linebackers in football, I would guess. Jake, you have any idea what his PFF is? Can we find that out? You have to like register for it or something. Yeah, I’d have to log in and remember what I have for good. I mean, he’s been he’s made some splash plays as he normally does, but he he’s he’s kind of reminiscent of what he was his first year with the Jets in 2022 where you saw the talent, but there were some like big plays he would allow just for over aggressiveness or overpursuing. And then 2023, he was, you know, an all pro. He was okay last year, not as good, and this year he hasn’t been good, and now he’s hurt. So, it’s it’s tough. They they like everyone wants to blame Wilks, and I get I’m not trying to be a Steve Wilks defender because the defense has been terrible. But like this is not on the defensive coordinator here that these guys are professionals and don’t know how to tackle. Like you got like we got to hold the players accountable too. Well, where it’s responsible, Nick, with with with the coach, Jake, is the fact that these guys are not where they’re supposed to be. I mean, look, when Bill Par when Bill Parcels came in to coach our defense, I should say Bellich came in to coach our defense that year, the roster was not even that different than it was the year before, right? Yet, our defense made a gigantic leap forward. I was seeing guys on the roster make plays that they would never have made previously because when Bellich was coaching the defense, he would go on the field and say, “You [ __ ] stand right here and don’t move. When this play comes, you stand here. You stand here. You stand here.” And he was so good at it that if they just stood where they were supposed to, the ball hit him in the hands. That’s how intricate his defenses were. This looks like a bunch of Keystone cops running around with their heads like chickens without a head. He has to get these guys organized, show them where to be on the field, have them be ga have gap discipline, and if they just could do that for one game and let the play come to them instead of them chasing down people like it’s backyard football, I think our defense will have a much better result, Nick. Don’t you think? Yeah. I mean, you got to be disciplined. There’s there’s guys who are meant to free up and make plays and there’s guys whose job are to eat up the blockers. And when you have Clemens as an end trying to crash down and make a play which just leads to a cutback, you’re not doing your job. So whether it’s not explaining it or not executing it correctly, Wills has to figure it out quickly because with the speed and and the the scheme of uh McDaniels in Miami, they’re going to look to take advantage of that. They’re going to look to get us misdirection. They’re going to look to get us over pursuing. They’re going to look to swing it back the other way and and they’re going to look to get big chunks of yards on us because the film to date in 3 weeks shows that we’re susceptible to mistakes. We’re not disciplined in our scheme. That’s the biggest issue. We better not show Miami anything that we’ve had on film the last three weeks. And I could just say that the reason why I’m not like super skeptical and like you said earlier, you know, we have scored points on offense. That is something that none of us expected to be at this point. If anything, we expected our offense to be behind and our defense to be excelling. Correct, guys? And it’s been the opposite. It’s absolutely been the opposite. So, I have to attribute that to two things. One is these guys are learning a whole new scheme with Wilks because his defense is entirely different than Sal, right? I mean, schematically, the wide nine, all the [ __ ] that Salah drilled into these guys’ heads for the last three years is totally different than what we’re doing right now, Nick. Is that accurate? Yeah, but why are they this bad? Even if the scheme is different, like they Because it takes time, Jake. It’s like these guys have been tying their shoes the same way for three, four years now. They got to learn to tie the shoe a different way now. Force a turnover, Neil. Force a turnover. I got Brandon Stevens dropped a pick six week one. They they have a win right now and we don’t have to hear about Aaron Rogers getting revenge. You know, he throws a game losing pick six. Okay, those are all things that they have. You know, those are things you work on. Look, I don’t doubt that the tackling the tackling is is not is an issue when guys are overpursuing. If you can’t get your hands on a ball carrier, how are you going to tackle him? And that play you showed before, nobody touched the guy. Yeah. And those aren’t missed tackles cuz you never when Metaf ran around this guy going that way when Metaf ran around Michael Carter week one. It’s not a missed tackle cuz he never made contact with him. It’s just it’s Listen, Quincy was the problem on that play. It looked bad for everyone else, but everyone else had them sealed. They’re ready to make the tackle. Quincy comes in like the Road Runner over pursues and creates the cut back lane. And now everyone else bowling ball pins went into one another. And and that was he was doing that. By the way, when he first came to us, he was like that unguided missile that was like had talent that they were kind of like suing him in to be more controlled. Yeah. And he had that for a while, but it seems like he’s reverted back to where he was his first year with us. Right. I had a player like this. When you play that aggressive and you try to always make that monster hit, you’re going to take yourself out of position sometimes. Sometimes it’s better as you’re closing in on the runner. They teach you this in Pop Warner. Break down. Exactly. Exactly. Gets Nobody’s breaking down in unison here. He breaks down. And if he just breaks down and seals the cut back, everyone else closes in, makes the tackle. But him coming in trying to make a big hit takes him out of position and creates awfulness for us. Now, this guy Brandon Stevens, okay, I I I hearken back to a defensive back. I try to remember who we took. This guy was a long time ago. We took a big bag of money and gave it to a guy that came into the Jets. What was it? What? Tumine Johnson, the quarterback from the Rams. That guy, that Nick, you’re good, Nick. I like you, Nick. Nick, that son of a [ __ ] took a bag from us and loafed around the field. And I don’t know how long we stuck with him, but this guy, Brandon Stevens, bro, he looks exactly like that. And I’m going to tell you something, they better get him the hell off the field. Steven’s effort is there. He’s just not playing well. There’s a difference. Didn’t have that effort chasing down the guy at the end of that game. He wasn’t chasing that. Yeah. Well, that’s he joged a little bit. I saw a little jog in there, you know, and and you know, he probably would be better. If I was the coaching staff, I’d say, look, he’s a good tackler. He wraps guys up and he’s big and he’s but he can’t cover. I would try to him at safety because look, Cisco is not doing [ __ ] and you know, he’s not a ball hawk and he’s big. Cisco’s a big guy. I don’t, you know, I I don’t see anybody, Nick, the problem I see on the secondary is I don’t see anybody around the ball. Yeah. When a when a pass is being made, how many times in a season if you you look at a lot of tape, Nick, right? When I see these guys throwing the long ball, there’s nobody around them except the quarterback. You know, Cisco guesses too much from what I’ve seen. Guessing wrong. I guess Cisco is a quarterback’s dream because he follows the eyes. There was a play the other day we were playing too high and he Mayfield looks to the right and Cisco leaves his coverage on the back left and flies over and if Mayfield looks that way it’s a simple scene pass right where he should have been. It would have been a 30- yard touchdown but Cisco’s reading the eyes and jumping. He’s not being disciplined either because everyone’s pressing to make a play. Look, let’s just hope that the defense gets its [ __ ] together. Yeah. And puts on a performance against Miami. I mean, if I’m watching the tape on Miami, you know, H, you know, all the things that they have done, all right, and all the deficiencies we’ve had on defense, I swear to God, if we play like we played the last three games, they will put a 70 burger on us. Yeah, that they’re capable of putting a 70 burger on the defense we’ve had the last the way their defense has been playing, we’re capable. I get it, but we’re not them. Okay, we don’t what? Three games in, you’re taking the over. But I get it. But guys, I’m telling you, I you know, Jake knows we 44 and a half. Pet the over. Hell yeah. I’m going to tell But I But Jake, I don’t think our defense is going to be that shitty. But I’m trying to tell you is I would you know, this is the kind of a game that if we don’t straighten up our our act, they are going to put more points up on us than the last three games. maybe two combined because HN Tariq Wadd the perfect antidote for our shitty secondary and and they’ve had a lot of time. They they played last Thursday so they get an extra couple days of rest. So, and they have a guy, they have their Brilan Allen and their Brilin Allen, that big back they have, he’s doing a job. He’s breaking tackles like nobody’s business. They have a really good back uh you know, a power back that we better be ready for also. So, look, am I optimistic about Monday night? No. Do I think we could win? Yes. Can I Friday be kicking them to win? Yes. No, I don’t. [ __ ] Jake. I have not. I had the four wins smell like you from the very start. Okay, don’t give me that [ __ ] I’m not like right before the year, you were very positive again. You got I have to Jake, I’m a Jet fan, so I don’t talk myself into being positive. What the hell am I doing on this show? What am I doing? What am I doing watching the Jets? Okay, you know, and I’m sitting here watching the Mets last night. You know, I’m a Met fan, too. But great win. They came back down 6-1. Okay, guess what? I don’t I to me that the Mets making the playoffs and all that [ __ ] They could win three World Series in a row. I want one [ __ ] playoff game for the Jets. More than that, this man loves the Jets. You love it. We We need it. Our heart needs it, guys. These goddamn exploding cigars like gotta go, Jake. I’ll call back later. [ __ ] I love a good Neil call. What’s funny is he has the cleaning people there. He’s like, “Ah, we’re fumigating the office as he’s smoking a cigar.” As they’re cleaning the office. Someone’s not going to stop smoking a cigar. That’s that’s is uh I only wish that call was longer. I had more questions for him. Big fella. We already read that one. Bo in the raffle for two. Let me reset. By the way, for those who joined the show late, awesome giveaway today. If you’re an 80s Jet fan, specifically in honor of Jets Dolphins, O’Brien vers Marino, we’re giving away a signed Ken O’Brien jersey at the end of the show today. Hopefully, uh Justin Fields from one number seven in Jet history to another. We’ll play awesome Monday if he is in fact the starter again. Regardless of what we watch of the first two games this week will be the truth about what this team actually is. No more excuses. We all know what this game means for our season. You owe us. And I agree, Bo. Look, it’s one thing to say, “Oh, the opponents have been really good.” And I get it. There’s no doubt. The combined record of the Jets first three opponents is 8-1. Fine. Miami’s 0 and three. Dallas is 1-2. Denver’s one and two. Carolina’s one and two. Cincinnati’s two-1, but they’re 0 and one without Joe Burrow. Cleveland’s one and like these there’s some winnable games here. Like you have to, no one’s saying you had to make the playoffs this year, but if you want players to still be bought into a new culture you’re trying to set, you got to give them some proof that what you’re preaching is working. And the only way to do that is not to say you’re not the same old Jets, is to actually win games and prove this is not the same old Jets. Uh, little bit of personal breaking news for you. Text just came in. I got the vacation day Monday. He told me no. He just texted me now. I will be booking my trip. I am going down to Fort Lauderdale. I don’t care if I go solo. If anyone’s going to be down there for the Miami game. Let’s connect. I will be booking it. I’m gonna leave Sunday or Monday morning. I’m not sure yet. I’ll get those details later. But I just got the okay for Monday. Jake, let’s go. Let’s ride. Wow. You’re going. You’re going. I’m in. I just got the He told me yesterday no. And now he just text me today. Approved. How about that? Ladies and gentlemen, Nick Shine is headed down to Florida to watch the New York Jets. Bring us a win, Nick. I tried to do my best in Tampa and didn’t work. So, if anyone’s going, hit me up. Let’s get together. Let’s get a W. Love it. More calls. Chef Kevin in the house. What’s up, Chef Kevin? I knew you had to call in when you saw me rocking the the man. I’m I’m in the kitchen right now, man. So, you know, it’s hard for me to call in, you know, when I’m working, when you have these these kind of shows, man. But, you know, with the love and then also seeing my guys shine, man, you know, it’s it’s it’s always a pleasure, man. Just had to tap in, you know, say thank you. I was uh earlier today I was on uh BG’s show, so I said a lot, so I don’t really have, you know, that much more to add on to the stuff. um you know was just at this point man just you know it’s it’s hard to get around like oh yeah we got we got this going great for us you know on offense or defense you know special teams you know for for somewhat I think we’re okay it’s just like the return game like punt return kick return like just put us in better field position you know hopefully that’ll come around the field goal block with McDonald I mean that was solid and to who would have thought at this late in the game you know just three weeks in that McDonald has more touchdowns than some of our offensive players, man. It’s like, you know, it hurt. It hurts a little bit, man. But at the end of the day, man, a lot of us really didn’t have that much wrapped into this. Like, with us having like, you know, multiple digit wins this year, I kind of feel like, you know, still an evaluation, but then with how we’re losing, like that’s the that’s the stuff that really hurts, man. And Jake, I I know just based off your Discord and, you know, your shows and, you know, seeing the the other people, the Asanics that were down there, yo, that Tampa stuff, amazing time, but you know, just like how this stuff normally goes, man, it’s like, yo, everything is great up until the game, which is out of our control, and then it’s just like, all right, they it didn’t look all that clean from the beginning. Yeah, we had the lead first, but then it just, you know, the stuff that was happening. And, you know, I don’t want to repeat everything that everyone’s been saying, but, you know, it’s just like the heart, man. show show a little effort, man. Like that’s it, man. If if we see it, if we see some discipline stuff, if we see some improvement, because hey, look, like what Glenn’s saying, the press are like, “Yeah, we’re going to clean up. Yeah, we’re going to get better.” But guess what? All the other NFL teams are doing the same thing. They’re all getting better, man. And it’s just for us, it’s like we’re taking steps back, man. And then with the the penalties and the injuries that we’re having right now, it’s like, man, is this stuff really going to get better? You know, the offense, are we going to put more points on the board? are we going to look better coming out the gate? And Tyron like, yo, in the passing game towards the end, yeah, it’s like, you know, working a little bit, but I I like what I saw, man. I like the pocket presence that Tyrod had, man. And yeah, he got a little bit of wheels, but is this something sustainable? Are we going to have Tyrod for two, three years? No, it’s it’s it’s not realistic. But can we get other people involved? I want to see Brilan, man. Like, a lot of people are high on him getting him involved in the run game, man. Breeze, I still really haven’t seen him in the Flats. Yeah, he had a great week one, but then it’s like, you know, it’s kind of falling off. And then is it who who’s to blame on that? Like are there certain situational stuff where they’re stacking people in the box just offensive line like I don’t think it’s that much of a of a struggle, but hey man, Boza did his thing last week and this week I didn’t really see much of like pancakes, physicality, just people really angry and mad and just want to get this stuff going, man. It’s like, you know, you can say what you want about Glenn dancing and doing whatever on side. Hey, I we were all all of it. If you’re a Jet fan, when you saw that that that block field goal going for a touchdown, yo, everybody was hyped, man. Everyone was happy. Then it’s like, all right, well, was there too much time left on the clock? Could have did certain things or whatever. Yeah, I get it. But then it’s like at the end of the game, like 0 and three, we had it right there. Like, yo, you got to be pissed the f off, man. Like, yo, I was I was mad, man. But, you know, it’s the effort, man, knowing like, yeah, all right, we’re 0 and three. I didn’t have us winning those first three, but yo, the the Dolphins, that’s a winnable game, man. And to sit here and tell you and and everybody else like, yo, X, Y, and Z is the reason why we’re going to win the Dolphins. Like, to be I don’t really have that, man. I don’t. It’s just a conference like a it’s it’s a divisional game, man. You know, it’s Monday night. It shouldn’t be that hot for us where Tampa Jake I mean you could speak for them like yo it was it was it was it looked like it was torturous out there people leaving on stretches and stuff oxygen mask as maniacs leaving like with their still more time in the game like yo the conditions was tough man but at the end of the day there’s no excuses everybody deals with stuff and you just got to put your best foot forward um you got to win a game chef Kev that’s it I mean you want to first three let’s go you do that all on one breath I’m trying Yo I got I got uh you know shout out to my my Jew Which brothers and sisters, man, potato pancakes, lockas, man, aka nobody, I’ll tell you, nobody has better applesauce, fresh homemade applesauce, than than us here at the Cloverly, man. We we we do our thing, you know, we do it right, you know. I I try my best, Nick. You know, I’m not I’m not professionals like I don’t doubt your game, my friend. I know your game is elite. I just, you know, I just love football, man. Like you guys, like like everybody else, love the Jets, man. Yeah, it hurts a little bit with what we’re seeing, man. But at the end of the day, effort, man. I just want to see that effort. And if we give it, if we if we’re seeing it, then we have something to like really be happy and and and prideful on. Yeah. What my man Beast saying. All right. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, Beast. Hey, Jake and Nick. I mean, uh, you know, they they they tried the Gobble Ghoul Sliders uh back in uh back on August 2nd, man, for that training camp thing. Like, you know, one thing we could do. And even that, man, Jake, yo, Nick, even that like the pract like practice wasn’t even bad. Like, ah, man. So, you know, we had to we had to make up for it afterwards. But yo, the the potato pancakes, man. The lockers over here, like these some big boys, man. The crunch and all that. I love it. Chef Kev, you’re the man. Enjoy it. Come on. Let’s get this, man. Let’s go. I love it. Great call from Chef Kev. Repping Cloverly Tavern on the show. Hell yeah. Uh great great layout there, too. Huge place. You know, that was an awesome day and and shout out to Kevin and you for putting all that together. That was fun. Yeah, great spot, man. Great spot. If you’re in the area or going to a Jets game or playing a weekend trip, support Chef Kev and the Clover Leaf. They’re awesome. And if you’re not in the area, it’s worth the ride. Yeah, food is excellent, honestly. So, a couple things that I saw early in the game, everything I said last week leading up to this game, I wanted quick passes out of Taylor’s hands. We did that on the first drive. I wanted them spread out a little more where we can hit the run. We did that. And then we get down. It’s third and fourth and we throw a fade to the end zone to Garrett. Like everything was quick, precise, precision. And then we throw a fade to the end zone that bounces five, six yards ahead of him and we settle for a field goal. I want to see and we did a little muddle huddle there on that on that too. We did speed it up a little bit during that that opening drive and then we went away from that. Like spread them out, put their defense in space. Miami does not have a good defense. allow them to try to make tackles in space where maybe we can get Arian Smith going. Hopefully Josh Reynolds is back this week. Who would have thought Josh Reynolds would have such value to our offense? He goes out and then now all of a sudden we don’t have anyone like I don’t think the GM did a bad job number two. That’s not good though. Like the the GM and the head coach who has more power than the GM did a terrible job with that position. I mean Alen Lazard being on this team joke. Reynolds being the important piece they need back. Joke. All right. Not good enough. Sam, super chat. The GM stinks. He had a terrible spring. At some point, we need to start looking at this area. It’s been unimpressive with a lot of his moves, Sam. But he’s in year one, so he’s not going anywhere yet. You got to give his draft class time, but early on the returns aren’t great. But Membu looks awesome, so that will save him if Meu turns out to be a long-term uh right tackle for sure. Uh look, I mean, the day three picks, they traded up for Tyler Baron, by the way. He can’t play. Like, that’s a huge problem. Okay, but let’s let’s let’s break it down. Membu looks like he could be elite. Taylor is going to develop. He had four catches the other day. Not a lot of yak, but four for 18, but he’s going to be one of your top three receiving weapons, right? With Reese and and Garrett probably getting ahead of him. Now, AZ Thomas looked good in a small little sample. Smith is probably going to be your three or four for the future. And then Malachi Moore might be your starting safety. So, your top five picks could all be guys who are part of this core. I’m not saying Ronnie Lot or what has Aaron Smith done that you feel like he could be a long-term three. I think his speed is something that they want to implement into this offense. When you look at the Detroit Lions passing attack, it’s all about speed because they drafted Jameson Williams or they hit on Aman Rosane Brown. I’m not saying he’s them, but the speed can take the roof off and open things up underneath. I just think we need better guys underneath. Lazard is not a guy that fits this scheme. kept them. They kept them though. That’s you know I I’m not saying fire Darren Muji like this guy Sam is saying like you know the G like I but I mean and also a good point here by Boomtown like drafting Membu is an easy pick to make. Mason Taylor was thought to be you know a consensus top tight end. They had a huge need there. Like you know you got to hit on day three picks. That’s what good GMs do. They find value there. So we’ll see. Uh Tom D says, “What a surprise I get on the video and the first comment I see is Beast talking about chicken parm. Guy has food on his mind 24/7.” Tough to argue with that one. Ladies and gentlemen, let’s say hello to the beast real quick. [Music] That that potato pancake was good. That looked like a B+. Very delicious. There’s going to be some there’s a lot of communication that needs to be addressed. Uh leadership skills on this team lacking a lot of lacking there. Defense lacking, offense lacking. And just like I expressed last night on Ricky NY New York, I put some hard power slams down that there needs to be some communication with this. Real quick, listen to what he just said. I That’s what I just said on Ricky NY New York. So, it’s a little redundant. Well, it’s like New York, right? The city New York. New York. So great they named it twice. I’ll give you a hint. Here’s here’s a communicate. B communicate. Supposed to lock like this. There’s no beast is a family show. Why are you scissoring? Why are you scissoring scissoring? I am trying to make a point on how to put it’s like working with plugs. You know how do you put you put plugs into a into an extension? Use an extension cord. Use it goddamn wisely. Calm your freaky down. This team ain’t shut down, Mr. Garrison. I’ve seen some bums in my time, but you know, I’ve seen some some bums who can’t basically do this. Did you watch the game, Beast? No [ __ ] No [ __ ] You thought What? You think I was blind? What? You think I’m born yesterday? Hey, Beast. Jets had the ball. It was 136 before halftime. What happened on that offensive possession? There you go. big sticks. I couldn’t watch that. I was like, “Okay, that was the that’s the straw that just broke the camel’s back.” That’s when it’s time to say, “Yo, grab Tyrod by the mask. Go.” Hey, what the [ __ ] you thinking, pal? Are you blind and flight? What’s wrong with you? On behalf of the Jake Asman show, we apologize for the foul language. Thank you, Beast. Tremendous insight there. Let’s keep it rolling here. A couple super chats and we’ll get right back to your calls. Spencer Green in the raffle for two says, “I need all the details on Carolina. I need Bobby Midnight and my boy Beast to show up. Big Cho, let them know we coming.” Spencer, hope to see you there, my man. Join the Discord. All the info is in there. C says, “Usually optimistic, but I’m not feeling good for Monday Night Football.” No one should feel good, but I don’t care if you don’t feel good or not. This is a game they have to win if they’re serious. That’s all. I feel good because I’m going and Nick Shine’s going, so they have to win with Nick Shine in the building. Hell yeah. I haven’t been to a game yet. So, if that turns around, I I’m more than likely going to be at Dallas the following week. Uh my friend’s son just defeated brain cancer. Jets came out to visit him, made him honorary captain, and uh he’ll be out there for the coin toss and uh got to go support him and the Jets. I hate Cowboys fans. I have not wanted to go to that game because I wanted to avoid them, but I gotta deal with it. Go support my buddy JP. Ryan McCarthy with a super chat. He says, “We just passed the 39th anniversary of that epic O’Brien versus Marino shootout. Get me in the raffle. Thanks for this morning’s show.” Jake and Nick Ryan, you’re in for two. For those who missed it, we are giving away a sick prize this morning. Signed Kenny O jersey. Ken O’Brien signed jersey. And I went and pulled the box score from that famous 5145 Jet win over the Dolphins. Ken O’Brien that day 29 of 43, 479 yards, four touchdowns, one interception, quarterback rating of 126. Dan Marino 30 of 50, 448 yards, six touchdowns, two picks, quarterback rating of 112. Jets won the game 5145. Nick, I know you were a fan around that time, of course. What do you remember about that shootout, Jake? That’s the game that made me a Jet fan. That was my first game. My grandfather took me and that was my first game at at the Jets and I I fell in love and I was like, you know what? This is great. This is the greatest team I’ve ever seen. We’re going to win so many games in the future. Yeah. Yeah, that was the overtime walk-off. Wesley had a four touchdowns that game, including the walk-off. Let’s see. Wesley Walker, he finished with six for 194, four touchdowns. Yeah. Unreal, man. Unreal. Shout out to game. Rest in peace to my pop. He took me to that game and and that’s that’s why I’m a Jet fan. Altun seven catches, 111 yards in that game, too. Unreal. What a game. What a moment. Love seeing the highlights when they pop up every year. 28 points in the second quarter. Look at that box score. 28 points in the second quarter. Unbelievable. Shout out to 31 points at halftime for a Jet team. Holy [ __ ] Crazy. What a time to be alive. Ladies and gentlemen, up next on the Gustbuster hotline is a man where you have to guess where in fact he’s calling from. Victory. like this one in the world. Lose this one then [Music] this coach can’t [Music] My bad. I played the wrong intro. It’s fine. The pounding call. I like it. I I’ll tell you, I I I don’t mind the dancing so much. Um I I do mind the losing. It’s upsetting. Um I agree. Um I think that, you know, as a Roman Catholic, I would love to uh co-opt the potato locka for our uh winter uh family gatherings, whether it’s Christmas or or or even spring and and Easter. It is a underrated uh you know side or like uh or derb. I love the potato locka with uh uh applesauce and I don’t know anyone who’s ever said that they’ve ever had a bad potato locker. So good point. Get let’s get that out of the way first thing. Um Nick, I want to thank you for your help in uh getting my contingent uh set for the uh for the tailgate against the Panthers. Uh we’re very excited about it. Um, I’m hoping that the rest of uh of the group won’t be uh too intimidated. Have you sent me money? I did. All right. You have a large group. You have six people. It’s not too It’s large in the sense that they’re they’re they’re large individuals. Okay. I didn’t know it was you obviously. Yeah. Now you know on your your paying app. Don’t out Don’t out me. Don’t dox me, Nick. That was one experience I had. One time he had it yourself. He did himself. Out of myself. Listen, Freeman McNeel, I didn’t say the name. Okay. Yeah. Uh listen, um but yeah, I mean some some of these guys, you’re going to get to meet my uh my brother L Clifton and my my nephew Miles Clifton. Uh we’re all looking forward to it. Uh as well as some other individuals. So, um, as far as Miami goes, this is a game where if they don’t pack their run game, you could be dealing with what Neil was talking about with the 70 burger, right? Like, if we have to be able to run the ball with impunity against this team, control the time of possession, and, you know, force a turnover or two or a play in the special teams in order to come away with the W. Um the defense hasn’t shown us anything to to give us any confidence in to be able to stop uh explosive offenses. Um that said, I don’t know that the Dolphins are quite what they’ve been in past years. I don’t think that they’re um running the ball as well. I don’t think they’re protecting the quarterback as well. But, you know, it’s it’s just a matter of, you know, getting right with the run game. Hopefully Fields will be back. Uh I and you know we can’t shy away from short yardage using them. I mean we voted for the tush push and we’ve seen in in short yardage uh nothing uh opportunities. We haven’t used it. I don’t I don’t really get it. This team is built to go for two. It’s built for for short yardage. Let’s let’s go get those um abilities to continue drives and eat up the clock and and and go from there. That’s that’s kind of how I feel about this matchup in particular. Yeah, it’s it’s a lot of schematic things. There’s some play calling that I disagree with. Like I said earlier, the fade to Garrett Wilson on third and four made zero sense to me. Not doing uh just a quarterback keeper. Even if you don’t do a tush push, just a quarterback keeper. You got Fields and Taylor who are two bigger quarterbacks. Let them drive forward. I don’t I feel that with Angstrand there’s really good plays on film but there’s also questionable play calls and that might be him feeling himself out. Of course he had a quarterback change seven quarters in. So you got to change what you’re doing and your rhythm but some of these things are are fixable and and avoidable to be completely honest. Now, we haven’t heard one peep about Fields playing, right? No. And uh I been unable to confirm whether or not they’re practicing today or they’re not going to because of the Monday night uh situation. Did you guys think that he went into fencing position after? Did you see that kind of I did not. I I would recommend taking a look at it. I mean, I don’t know if he’s had that history at all, but it did look like something reminiscent of what happened to Tua at at the tail end of that and it was a little concerning. So, I mean, it’s there’s a possibility they don’t want to rush him back. Um, but that is what it is. The health of the player comes first. So, 100%. Good call, Kyle. I appreciate it, guys. Have a good day, gentlemen. The Kyle Clifton. Mike Dems joins the raffle for one. Uh, also I should say this. We are giving away this, the signed Sack Exchange jersey on the show this week, plus a signed Bart Scott jersey, a signed CJ Mosley jersey. The big fella says, “Prayers for David Fry. 99 mile perphs to the face is crazy.” Yeah, for those who miss the Guardians designated hitter took a 99 mile per hour fast ball to the face from Tariq Scooble yesterday and that is just Well, he fouled it, right? It hit the bat on the bunt attempt. Didn’t it deflect off the bat into his face? Uh, I thought he I it looked he’s obviously he turned the square to bunt. It looked like it deflects off the bat into him. That’s the way I I saw it. You know, they didn’t slow it down. They gave a thumbs up when he was down, too. Uh, I’m pretty sure it deflected from everything that I saw. It was tough. I didn’t see it. I just heard about it. Yeah. Uh, one comment if if you don’t mind. Nicholas Manette says, “You’re not going to hear anything about fields.” Think about what AG has said about pass positions, whether it was center or kick returner. But with the quarterback last Wednesday, the first thing he said when he got up to the mic was, “Uh, Justin’s out. Tyro’s a quarterback for this week.” So, I I disagree. When they ruled out fields, they did it quickly. With your quarterback, everyone’s going to know because the the media has access to practice. who’s ever running with the ones is going to run all the reps with the ones, right? So the minute Fields is cleared, we’re going to know. Now, if Fields isn’t cleared, it’s going to be Taylor. If he’s out there, you’ll have an idea like what the deal is. Like that’s that’s kick back a little bit with that, Nicholas. But great name, though. Shout out to your parents. And you are right, by the way. He was squaring it up and then it hit him. Um, all right. Here’s what we’re going to do. We are going to bring on our next caller. And to set this guy up, I need to show an image just to kind of speak to the greatness of what I was seeing at our big watch party or not watch party, our big just Saturday night suare in South Florida. Ladies and gentlemen, up next on the Gustbuster hotline is someone they’re calling the ladies man. Someone that has a way with the 4enters in this community. Really? Take a look for yourself. Who’s this? One punch. Yeah. Dave Brigger [Music] to see as maniacs complain what he call Hey, good morning gentlemen. Dave Brigger, how things this morning? We’re hanging in. We’re trying to get through the week and get to Monday night. Nick Shine in the house. Uh Dave, can I ask you a question? Also, no media availability today. I just asked someone on the beat, so we won’t not get anything till tomorrow. Okay. Uh where’s the stick that you were beating all the ladies off with the other day? Because they were all over you, my friend. I have no idea. I I get along with I get along with the ladies, you know, but I keep my I try to keep my P’s and Q’s straight. Put it that way, you know. Well, maybe the P being straight is part of the problem here. Dave, calm down. Calm your freaky down. I’m not freaky. I’m not freaky. I just try to be I just try to be nice to the ladies, you know. That’s it. You just try to be nice. Be be nice to them. You’re an achiever. Yeah. Everybody was great at that part. think the reason I’m calling in and I don’t want to be a downer, but I’m I’m here I’m leaving today to go back to Pennsylvania. I was checking out the weather. So, just be on the alert because there’s two storms brewing off the Atlantic. Okay, that’s coming in. So, just just be on the alert. I don’t know what’s coming up there, but I was just watching the weather reports and uh I’ll take if you’re going to that game in Miami, you know, just take take a good look first because it looks like there’s two storms brewing out there. All right. I if I was staying here, I wish I wish if I was staying here, I’m going home tomorrow. I’ I’d meet up with you know, although I if it was heat like last Sunday, I doubt if I could make through another one like that. That’s the only reason I’m going is because it’s a night game. Oh, yeah. Well, that’s that’s right. It’s Monday night. It’s Monday night. So, but as far as football goes, everybody said everything they can about at this point. You know, why why be more negative? I mean, I know you’re trying to be positive, but that defense is like it’s bad. It’s bad, you know, and the coaching is bad. So, let’s see what happens. I don’t know about this. Maybe this new guy they brought in could tackle. I heard it’s a good tackler, right? Brownley, whatever his name is. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that’s what they need. He’s good. He’s physical. Yeah. Somebody somebody has to learn how to tackle as far as Clemens goes. I mean, I saw enough Sunday. That was That’s about enough. I mean, I don’t get it. I really don’t get it at this point. I mean, they just they’re deceiving themselves with that guy and uh just it’s not good. It’s not good. I know, Nick, you’re trying to be very positive. You’re a positive guy, but you know, even a realist even Dave, my mentality is I’m going to put all my time, money, effort, and energy into something. Why would I be negative about it? Like, listen, does it suck? Yes. But I I don’t I choose not to focus on that in any aspect of life. Like, how can we make it better? What’s the fix? That’s how I look at it. You know, I hope to God we get to the day where we don’t have to talk about fixing it. But how could the coaching of defense be this bad? And how come, you know, and and this either way they started off that game? I mean, we’re out there suffering in the in the stands of almost 100°. I know it’s hot enough to deal with. They say it was almost 120 and I understand that, but it’s always the same script. And you know, at halftime, we all knew the score. I mean, with that pick, with that dumb play, you know, that was just dumb. You know, with that time left in the half, you’re throwing a pass like that out and when there was a guy open, I forget I saw that uh 22 replay yesterday and it was somebody right, who is it? The tight end was open. He throws to the sideline like you can’t be that dumb. You can’t be that dumb for for you know, I don’t want to get loud here. My neighbors will start to they’ll be like my wife said, “Be quiet.” You know, but uh I mean it’s very upsetting at this point. I mean, you know, I mean, I’ve been around this team for years, way longer than you guys. And you know what? The progress where it’s just no progress. It’s no progress. I mean, patience, you know, hey, patience is one thing, but where’s the progress? I don’t know. I’m not a I don’t want to be a crybaby like Joe B, you know? I mean, you really Come on. I mean, we got to see we have to see some progress. I got to win, Dave. I got to win Monday night. That’s what it comes down to. Win a game. The problem is this. How are they going to stop that passing game? You know, after what we saw Sunday, how are they going to stop those? Even if Hill maybe if Hill doesn’t want to play and Waddle, I mean, who’s going to cover these guys? Who is going to cover? I I don’t know. I don’t No pass rush. Who’s going to cover? Nick, what what’s your answer today? What I mean, you’re a football, you know, a football ex guy. What’s their answer to stopping these guys? You It’s one of two things. You’re either gonna use your coverage, bliss, blitz less and have seven guys in coverage and try to allow your defensive line to get home and and get coverage sacks or or you got to play up and you got to play man press because you don’t want to give Wadd and Hill free releases and then you got to worry about Achain getting swing passes out of the backfield because he’ll catch six, seven, eight, nine balls a game. They will just run their guys off, throw a swing to him and try to get him out in space. So schematically, you got to be more sound. You gota and then you got to wrap up and make the tackles when you have the opportunity. So, there’s multiple things that are wrong right now, but I believe they’re all correctable. Getting more comfortable in the scheme, being more disciplined in the scheme, and then finally make the goddamn tackle when you get there. Those are the three keys to being better. You know, you got to wrap up, Dave, just like you’re doing here in the picture. Wrapping all the ladies up. That’s a hell of Well, you know, it’s easy to do with the ladies. I mean, I mean I mean it’s they’re football players. I mean, come on. We got some great photos of you, Dave. How about this one of you, me, Peg, and Arty, you and Rick Kent. Some great photos from the weekend. Oh, yeah. Well, hey, listen, that, you know, that meetup was absolutely fantastic. Fabulous. All the adjective things you could put there. Then, you know, then we got let down, but uh we’re not going to focus on that. We want to focus ahead. We want to be like Nick. I want to be positive. So, uh just I want to be like you. I want to take pictures with four women. So, look at you, Dave. We both want to be each other. We both want to achieve the other’s life. Yeah. Well, I’m going down to the my last visit at the beach before I go home. So, I’ll see a lot of women down there. They’ll be just, you know, it’ll be down at the beach. So, maybe I’ll send you some shots. You guys won’t be in the area. Ladies and gentlemen, play on for you. All right. Great. Dave, Dave, Dave travels back. All right. Thank you. Thank you. He thinks that Gary needs more shots inside his head, but his cowboy hat don’t believe in achievement one. Great key point. That’s what we need. A [Music] excellent, excellent, excellent. All right, home stretch here. Uh, Nick, I got to reset something on my StreamYard, so I’m going to present this next caller and hopefully you could hold it down. Do you have confidence you can? I’ll try my best. I I know your your callers pretty well, so I think I have a a good rapport with most of them. Uh I I’ll I’ll do you proud, my friend. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time [Music] you point at you. I’m pointing I’m pointing point at you. I point. Oh, I didn’t. No, I I’m out. Jake, too too much. You’re muted. G might Some might say that’s your best call ever. Let it That’s it. Remove him. If you would have known that then it was me, you would have never agreed. He would have said, “No.” Yeah. Go to another caller. I I can’t handle this guy. Not Not one-on-one. He needs to be doubleteamed like Kobe. Let me rephrase that. What’s on your mind with the Jets? All right. So, first off, before I get to the Jets, and I I think Dave Brigger is right. Like, there’s no progress. There’s no improvement. It’s the same. We suck for all the same reasons. Like, the co here’s my first question. Is it schematic or is it just the player suck? Like, Cisco and Stevens look awful. Is it schematic that it’s bad defensively or is that the personnel is that bad? Combination. I think I just listed the three things, right? Schematically, they need to improve. They need to be more disciplined. And then when they get there, they need to make the goddamn tackle. You know, you do those three things well, you’re going to be a very good defense. I think we have the makings of a good defense, but I I think guys are pressing. I think guys are trying it too hard to make plays. Sometimes you just have to do your job. Like it’s the old Bellich check line. And I hate that I’m quoting him, but it’s really that simple at times. Do your job. Don’t try to do anyone else’s job. And if you do your job well, and all 11 guys do that, you’re success. All right. So, then there’s a couple of more things I want to get on just real quick. This is not the first time Neil has called in to bash my food takes. And I want to remind everyone out there, this is a guy that eats chicken and pasta, right? He probably puts cheese on his seafood. He eats garlic bread with his pasta and dunks it in his Sunday gravy that he poured out of a jar and and then complains about bad Italian food. Okay? Like I don’t ever want to hear him, a guy that eats chicken of pasta, puts cheese on his seafood, talk about my food takes. It’s unacceptable. It’s completely unacceptable. He’s the reason like when you live in Texas, like there really aren’t any Italians and then nobody likes them. He’s the reason why Neil’s the reason why that the rest of us normies get a bad get a bad rep. E S How dare you come after Neil, Gary? Neil came after me. This is a guy, like I said, he puts he eats chicken and pasta. He puts cheese on his seafood. You know, he’s dunking his garlic bread that he’s eating with his pasta in his Sunday gravy that he poured out of a jar and then he complains about bad Italian foods. What is that based on though? Has he said all this? American. The chicken and pasta is a big indicator. It’s it’s a big indicator of of of how you eat. I love it. I I know you knock it. I am a huge fan. I’m a huge fan. My mom would say quesko. Disgusting. Gross. It’s American food. All right. Disgusting. American. Hey, B says you’re a cheap bastard. I’m I’m thrifty. Thrifty. I’m frugal. Why am I But how do you even know that? Like he’s not wrong necessarily. Um, also are you paying Spencer Green off to be your hype guy? Uh, no. Spencer’s just he’s with the ism. He is with the ism shirt. It’s a great shirt. Oh, the Kirk would have been with the ism, too. Kirk would have been with about 80 to 90% of the ism. He wouldn’t go far enough, but I like Kirk. He was he was a good dude. Um, Peter Castra says Jake Gary’s full of [ __ ] in in regards to to what? Everything. I mean, I like Peter Castro. I have nothing but respect for Peter Castro. I’m not offended. I’m just curious on on what Beast is saying that he wants to kick your ass in a pizza making contest. I I don’t really have a pizza oven. I mean, I can spin a little dough. You know, my grandfather owned a pizzeria for years. I I can I can I can I’m not saying I’m the best pizza maker in the world, by the way. The Also, Neil’s wife makes home gravy, according to Peter Castro. Oh, and that that they pour on their uh their their chicken and pasta. Yeah. All right. Um shout out to Neil’s wife. Um Michelle, is that her name? I don’t want to get it wrong. Is Michelle. All right. Michelle seems like an extraordinary wife. A good woman, by the way. Uh you did you did well there, Neil. I’ll give you that. Now, let’s get off the chicken and pasta uh seafood and cheese. Let’s let’s try to be a little less maragon. All right. Um the but the potato lka that was a big tipping point in my house. My dad was a big fan. My mom who cooked the food said they were disgusting. So she never made them. So I’ve never had a potato laka much to my dad’s dismay who liked them. What can you tell me about them? I can tell you that they’re delicious. Are they? So my dad is right there. My mom says they’re gross. My dad says they’re they’re really good. But I’ve never I’m my mom cooked the food. So, I’ve never had I’ve never had I’m a I’m a big fan. I think they’re excellent, especially if it’s from Cloverleaf because I had all their food when we were there in August. So, I have full faith in Chef Kevin in the Cloverleaf Tavern. I do too. Kevin is a He’s a food savant. Like he he he’s like just one type of cuisine. He had like a knowledge a vast knowledge of food. I was really It was like watching did he he has like a PhD in in in food. It was like watching Picasso paint. Yeah. you like there are certain quarterbacks who can make all the passes. He could do that in in chefs. He can make all the foods, right? He’s not just a a one-trick pony. He can make all the food. Shout out to Chef Kev and and one of the really really really good guys. I really like Chef Kev. Uh it was like watching Beastbreaker eat, some would say. No, that’s vile. That’s vile. Watching chef watching watching chef cook is like watching Picasso paint. Watching him eat is is vile. I got something to tell you. Hey, in the world of the great Tony Sel Hey. Yeah. That mean you’re going to keep Do you know Do you know what that means? That means you’re going to kick my ass like that. That’s what that means. Do you know what you’re saying? And I got I got balls for You said it to Jake, too. I can mop I’ll mop the floor with you all night long. I’m Flare, [ __ ] and I am Sting and Luger and the Road Warriors. I can knock your I know who those guys are out in one swipe. Now, beast, let me ask you something. Are you going with shredding warrior? Hey, shut up. Are you going with shredding warrior as your new name? You went beast and then it was Jason Allen storm and now shredding warrior is your new [ __ ] You saw you saw the shredding yesterday so you got a taste of it. Oh, I saw it. All right. I saw it. [Music] Hey, let me ask you a question. I’m 6’3 250. Can you kick my ass? H Well, if I if if I could throw a little karate in it and a little bit of see what happens. I got I do got a red belt. I was taught very well and and great answer be I’m not playing. All right. No karate allowed. No karate allowed. Well, I have to do this a little thing. Remember, boards don’t hit back. So, no is what you’re saying. For don’t hit back. Just remember that. Now, I’m I’m just going to say this. Gary cannot out swoop my sauce. My pizza sauce adds a little spice to it. I don’t know where he came from, but in my best All right. Uh, any I come from my mother who comes from Sicily who’s an extraordinary cook. All of my friends growing up used to come to my house to eat my mom’s food. Okay. Like I’m not saying I’m the cook. I’m saying that I’ve inherited some of those jeans. That’s that’s all I’m saying. That That’s all I’m saying. Um, yeah. Just on on Muji real quick. Does he suck? Like Cisco and Stevens were the big acquisitions in in the offseason that was supposed to make us good. Trading up for Baron. He sucks. Does Muji suck? It was It’s the wrong hire again. I I’m not trying to be pessimistic. I’m not trying to be a downer after three weeks, but I got Breaker’s right. There’s no progress. It’s the same crap. Exactly. But don’t say that too loud because we’re not allow we we’re not allowed to be critical at all. We have to blindly support this new regime no matter what. No man, we’re all rooting room for them to be good. But in real time, it’s not good so far. They are not any better than they were a year ago with and and they’re not better coached. The front office has not been smarter than they were in most areas from a year ago. So, I’m with you. I don’t know Muji sucks yet, but three games in I’m very uninspired. I did like the move yesterday. I thought the Phillips trade and the Briggs trade were good, but you only had to make those trades because we as fans knew you neglected those key positions all year, all summer in in free agency and that’s why you had to then do something about it right before the year. Like you still neglected edge, you still neglected wide receiver, too. I it’s a real problem. You see what being a Mets Jet does to you? Just to counter with Jake, it took us to the Jacksonville game in December last year to score 32 points. We did that in the first game of a new regime. That’s week one though. I mean, the 2012 Jets scored they scored 48 points with Sanchez in 2012 and that team sucked. Steven Hill, we never heard from him again. Like, what if that was their only good offensive game we get all year? We’ve had two games where we scored 27 or more. We didn’t have that last year. So, did they really score 27 though? I mean, seven of the We didn’t have any defensive touchdowns. We didn’t have any We had the one the defensive touchdown, but we gave up a defensive touchdown, too. So, it’s a watch. Yeah. Yeah, I mean we’re [ __ ] on the defense, but seven of those points come off an interception. Bulls stop blitzing and like they were down uh like they were they they were up by so much. Bulls trading. I’m not saying it’s great, but there are some areas we’ve improved. Do you think this is a miss? Great. We have a good punter, too. Mame is the number one rated punter in the NFL. We use him a lot, too. And the better than having a great punter is not having to use them is is even better than having a good punter. Do do you think this team, Nick, has been well coached through three games? Well coached completely. No, we’re not winning. But I think there are signs of of things that can if once corrected, I think we can be a a very good team. I I think we can be a team that if we’re coached correctly and we and we execute the scheme correctly and guys aren’t out of position like a Clemens or a Cisco, I I think we’ll be better than people are reacting right now. Like I said earlier, we are two plays away from possibly being two and one and everyone would be [ __ ] going bull. I tried to say this last year and you guys were like, “Stop it. They only won five games. Aaron Rogers is the worst.” It’s like, man, like I But we do this though. What they if they only did this, they’d have this. It’s like win football games, man. I’m tired of it. Agreed. But you have to do the little things right constantly and consistently in order to get to the level. They don’t do the little things right. They haven’t yet, but there are signs of them doing things the right way. There’s tweaks that need to be replaced. I just I don’t see these signs. What signs? They missed 19 tackles on Sunday. Okay, that’s one thing that they’re doing bad. But that’s a huge thing. That was the whole point. That’s one of the things that have to be corrected. I said earlier they have to be more disciplined and then they got to make the tackles. Those are three things that I called out that they got to do better. Yeah, but that’s a huge thing. Yeah, that’s not just like a little and it’s the same things that sucked last year. It’s the same thing. It’s it I had a coach who once told me, “You’re going to make all the mistakes from A to Z. Don’t get stuck on A. Go through all your mistakes. Don’t get stuck on A. I still stuck on A. This is the same mistake they were making last year. It’s it’s it’s the same thing. I hope it gets better. I do. I just three games. I’m not saying fire anyone or it can’t get better. Just three games in I’ve seen nothing that tells me it’s going to get better.” And Aaron Glenn saying we’re not the same old Jets. Dude, come on. I I I view you to look at it differently. I look I have view to look at the building blocks, right? You’re you’re putting the foundation in there. You you’ve got Meu who looks tremendous. Your identity is supposed to be your offensive line. I think schematically spread them out and then try to run them. You’re trying to run the ball with eight guys in the box and we’re seeing all out run blitzes because the quarterbacks aren’t checking to passes and and trying to kill you downfield. when you got eight in the box against a Rogers or an Allen or Lamar Momes, they’re gonna go on a go route just to to tell the defense, “This is an option. This is what we’re going to do.” When you’re just putting everything underneath and they’re sending everyone, you’re playing into their hands. So, that’s something schematically that can change to help us to open up the run game. It’s not so much about just the players sucking. It’s how you get them to succeed. That’s a big part of it. You got to take the lid off. I don’t care if you throw it 70 yards past Aren Smith downfield. Send them deep so the safeties say, “Oh [ __ ] this is an option for this offense. We haven’t seen this on film yet. I got to be ready to play backwards and forwards, not just downhill the entire time.” All right, Gary. Job well done. Before you go, Way to get everyone riled up, you jerk. Spencer Green says, “I’d say we should do a boxing match, but Beast can’t make cut weight, so we can’t do that. If it weighs 154, I’ll fight it. Put it on a scale. If it weighs 154 or less, I’ll fight it. One question. One question for you. One question for you, Jake. Are the Mets going to make the playoffs? Yes. Yankees have already clinched their for the postseason already, and Jake’s happy about that one. Oh, yeah. Be damn right. Oh, yeah. He’s been waiting for you. Could you cut weight to 154 to box Gary? I’m not gonna box Gary. I’m going to Can you cut weight to 250 in a heartbeat when it comes down when it comes to cooking and when it comes to getting down and dirty? I say I’ll give you this. Working outside with my hands because it’s Yo Holmes makes a good point. It’s time to get dirty. It’s time to get funky and we’re going to work hard. I got to 160 is my new weight class. Middleweight. No more junior middleweight. No more 154. 160 if 160 or less. Can you get down to 160? I don’t know if I can get down to 154 anymore. You know what? You’re You’re as cheap as an old as an old rag [ __ ] and tech. All right, gentlemen. Thank you both. Uh with knowing when to get him out when he stutters and the MP3 player glitches, you nail it. You’re perfect because you know something’s coming that shouldn’t. You’re so good with that. Been doing this a long time. Kyle Clifton says, “In for the O’Brien jersey. Last trip to see the Dolphins. I did some fishing. Plenty to do in Miami, Florida. Uh, plenty to do in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Yeah, I mean, Nick, maybe I will join you, Nick. Maybe. No, probably not. If they had one Sunday, I would have strongly considered it. Across the street from the Hard Rock, that’s why. That’d be fun. Come on. You going to stay at the Hard Rock? I’m going to stay right across the street. The Dolce by Windham is literally right across the street. So, Hard Rock Stadium is right next to the actual Hard Rock the Hard Rock Casino. [ __ ] [ __ ] the game, man. If I’m going down for Sunday and Monday, I need that casino right across the street. Yeah, be f Sunday. I couldn’t go down because I’m I’m working the show with Tanabomb, but I could fly out like Monday morning. I’m not going to do it. I’m just saying I could. Uh Spencer Green says, “I’d say I already read that one. Great. We’re caught up.” All right, got time for two more calls, but we got to be quick. Then we have our raffle, so this is your last chance to get in for a chance to win a Kenny O jersey. Jordan and then David T. What’s up, Jordan? What’s up, Jake? What’s up, Nick? What’s up, buddy? Um, just got a quick couple things to say. Um, one, Jake, I hate it when people say that at the end of the games, oh, they came back in garbage time, but the point of the game is to play all four quarters till there’s triple zeros on the clock. So, you can’t blame the the team for coming back and the other team like holding back or stop doing their game plan and blitzing or whatever was working for them. The second thing is I’m so tired of watching Garrett Wilson run wide open and never get the ball. I I I I hate watching Garrett Wilson play because he never gets the ball enough because we can’t get him the ball enough. And um the last thing I wanted to say was who is the person that’s going to be playing linebacker this week other than Jam opinion. you’re gonna use it. I think Kiko is gonna be your guy on rundowns. Uh you’re gonna see someone else and I wouldn’t be surprised if you see someone like Brownley in there in like a dime package to cover Achain coming out of the back field. So I think you’re going to do it by down and distance. It’s not going to be somebody is in for Quincy and plays the entire game like Quincy would. I think it’s going to be down in distance and situational substitutions going in. Okay. But I just don’t think Kico’s that that good. Um but well, he’s he’s a throwback linebacker. Like he’s a thumper. You want him going playing downhill. You want him run blitzing. You want him, you know, trying to get in the hole and meet a chain or their other runners right there. Right. I agree. We do need more of a downhill thumper to to come in and, you know, fill the gaps and stop the runs. But that’s all I had. Thanks for for having me on, Jake. You got it, Jordan. Appreciate you. I mean, we’ll see what they do at linebacker, but it’s Sherwood and Kiko as your starters right now. They did add Mark Robinson from New England. I don’t know what he’s capable of. Cam Jones is still on this team, too, from Kansas City. Be strictly rotational. They’re not going to plug one guy in and say, “You’re Quincy Williams. You’re going to play the whole game.” So, I mean, it’s it’s worth seeing what they do. If it’s a third and 12, you’re probably going to go dime because you want someone else in there who can who can run and tackle and and who can I mean AJ out of the backfield man worries me more than anything else. Really does. Agreed. Um all right, ladies and gentlemen, today’s closer is a man who was near our tailgate, but he couldn’t find the tailgate and I still never got to meet him after all these years. I got my iron Eug. I hope you like my Jets take. You know they call me David T. It’s not easy for me to see. But if you bring me full screen, you might like what I have to say. I’ll need to get real damn close cuz my vision is dog [ __ ] Hi guys. David T. Hey. Yeah. Hey Jake, real quick. Uh I’m already thinking I think my game is going to be coming up to New York next year. So there’s not going to be any problem finding meetups or your tailgate or whatever. So I already I already have that in mind. What if you pick a Giants game instead and you picked the wrong game to go to? Um you know what, Nick, I you know me a little bit by now. It’s possible. Uh, but what I wanted to say was um real quick uh Gary and uh Neil talking about Italian food and everything. My dad was Italian and he did everything mostly from scratch and and all that. And my brother really took over his his cooking skills and all that kind of stuff. And you know, as far as the chicken and pasta thing, my brother makes uh just to die for a dish uh called chicken fetuccini. And it’s it’s homemade. He has a pasta maker. It’s homemade noodles and there’s a white sauce on it. And um I mean it is to die for. So I mean uh in my book, chicken chicken goes with pasta. You know, I was brought up with it. Perfect. I agree. And and uh the other thing is Jake and and Nick, the the the the the Trump factor this week is the defense got to have the oomph. They didn’t have the oomph on Sunday. I don’t know whether it was the heat. They were like one step behind the Bucks every play. If they got the if they got the oomph, it’s not going to be as hot Monday night. We got a good chance to win. When you say the oomph, does that what does that sound like? I mean, it’s it’s it’s like uh like the defensive line that, you know, the the oomph. Plowing through. Plowing in. You know what I mean? Plowing through. Plowing in. Calm your freaky down. All right. Uh, no. I’m talking football here, Jake. I got you. Ladies and gentlemen, we got to get the oof. David T, calm your freaky down. Thank you very much, David. Uh, before we get to the raffle, how about this from the great Mimosa, who was with us all weekend long in Tampa. She just gifted the community 10 channel memberships. Thank you, Mimosa, for your generosity and tremendous support of the Jasmine Show. Great to hang out with Mimosa and Jerry Jet, her brother, who has the maniac tattoo on his back. What an awesome time that was. Austrian Jet fan, gifting a membership. The tickets are cheap, man. And for good beach. Yeah, it was it was 280 for front row on the 50 yard line on the Jets sideline. That would be a $1,700 ticket here, you know, for for us. Yeah. So, I’ll take it. Hey, Spencer Green just joined the Patreon. He’s right. Spencer, congratulations. You are now a Patreon member. Shout out to you. Also, Bryce Hannon and Jbad. Uh, I meant to shout you guys out earlier. I do it on the second show. They joined for the year late last night. So, appreciate both of them. Uh, I see you’re all caps chat, Spencer. You’re in. And Eli, I’m sorry I missed uh this at the buzzer here, but I will put you in for two for the weekly raffle. I have no fear. All right, everyone subscribe to Nick Shining Stars. We have no stars. We stink. Win a game and then we’ll do Shining Stars. That sound good? This the game we’re going to win. That’s right. We’re not the same old Jets. I’ll give you real quick then. I’m gonna go with Olu having a big bounceback game. I’m gonna go with Brilan Allen really establishing the run. And give me Michael Carter having a bounceback game. Those are three guys that can really change the game this week. Wow. He wants to put Spencer wants to put Beast and Bobby in the wheel and the winner is going to get a Ken O’Brien jersey. Really? I mean, he won. I guess I got to listen to the winner, right? All right. Are we are we gonna do this? What’s beast gonna do with a kennel? Are they both Are they both still on hold? No, they’re not. Should we do this? Seems like kind of a waste. How about this? Because this is a good jersey. I’ll reuse it and I’ll send the winner a jersey of their choosing. I don’t want to send Beastbreaker a Ken O’Brien jersey. It’s like a nice jersey. Yeah. And Bobby’s not even a Jet fan. a a cat would ruin it. So, I’ll tell you what, Spencer. I’ll compromise here. We’ll spin the wheel for a Jets jersey, but not a signed Ken O’Brien jersey. I’ll use that for a different prize. Oh, no. Spencer says, “Okay, then I’ll take it.” All right, Spencer. I’ll just get I’m just going to send you the jersey and stop this nonsense. Anyway, uh that does that does it for us. Thanks again, everyone who tuned in. He’s Nick John. I’m Jake Gasmin. Do you believe the Jets are going to turn things around this season?
Im definitely hoping for the best. Especially if Glenn takes over the defense
Miss tackles came on wilks blitzing
Waste…of ..Time …
All these Jets tradees tell me Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey know how badly they screwed up when they put this roster together. That said, where is the #2 receiver and edge rusher this team desperately need? The roster construction that Glenn and Mougey employed smacked of arrogance by AG thinking he could coach anyone up to play better than they had previously. My hope is Glenn is learning he knows less than he thought and actually brings in good players in the offseason. The talent on this team is embarrassing becaue they could have added so many good players they decided to pass on to keep gusy like Michael Clemons, Tony Adams, Allen Lazard and a host of others
I completely disagree with Nick Shine that the Jets were one or two plays away from having a better reocrd. This is the same nonsense Jets fans have said for years. Every seqason the Jets have 6 or 7 games where they were one play away from winning. The Point is they rarely make that "one play." That's oftent the tiny difference between a great team and the Jets. Those teams make those plays, the Jets don't
