Kevin Fiala Brings NHL Superstars to Switzerland! | Black & White
Los Angeles games number 22. The reality is last year we were not far away. We’re right there. We uh could have won, should have won, didn’t. So it’s small details. In the National Hockey League, it’s about inches. I see it. Yep. jump that’s highlight the fialas friends I started with the kings and now it’s getting bigger and bigger you know I started with the camps and now this so it’s always important I think to give something back and that’s why I want to bring it here to Switzerland to recognize it even more. Oh, pizza, pizza, pizza. Pizza. Thanks all. I love them. They’re big black ones. You should see the difference with I think like they’re like it’s flat, crispy, not even close. Family time is the most important thing, you know. And in the season we have schedule. We have a season going on. So we can’t always do what we want to do. In the summer we have a you know time off and also not have a real schedule all the time. You know you can enjoy my family. Let’s go fast me. So you can you can run around. Let’s go. For me it’s just exciting uh to see everybody, our family, our friends and do a lot of stuff. We’re very busy but I enjoy because there’s a limited time you know and after it’s like 8 months away from everybody I was first in Malma and then the second year I went to HB71 where I met her in school so we know each other for like 11 years family you know it’s so nice uh very yeah very appreciate very thankful for for it and I think it’s a it’s a lot of lot different you know no spontaneous anymore but it’s a tough balance especially in the start when you don’t know what’s coming look at this amazing man we’re here for me it’s a better life it’s more crazy but more chill in a way you know like you have your routines you wake up earlier but you go to bed earlier it’s weird you have more energy somehow but you’re running around all the time you know but I think she gives me so much energy ma so much joy so much happiness is that you have more energy even though you should have less. The last 3 years when I came to LA, it was much easier to get into the training camp with everything, with conditioning, everything because I’m already have kind of a camp here. You know, they just won twice again now this year. Mhm. Um their league, they want Champions League. So, for me, they’re the biggest, you know. Yeah. But of course there’s like four or five different teams that are like big, you know, a lot of dissociation between upper body and lower body. We start with low karaokas, right? Always counter rotate and then start picking up those knees, right? And ultimately you want to drive that knee. Drive that knee. Drive that knee. Right? But you start nice and low. Counter rotate. Counter rotate. Lot of rotation. Lot of rotation. A lot of twist. And now just start driving that knee. Drive that knee. Drive that knee. Yeah. Relax. Matt, he’s my trainer here in Zurich. He’s a team office coach. Y Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go, bud. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s see it. Yep. Boom. Let’s go. That’s it. Best rep. No, I think I’ve been always a hardworking guy, you know, especially when I went from Switzerland to Sweden. And I understood what hard work means. That you only do it for yourself, for nobody else. That’s I think when I really understood it, I was very young. I was 15, 16 years old. There we go. That’s it. That’s it. It’s important we do this stuff. And for me, I believe in that hard work. I believe in that extra work. It will help me in the game. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. Speed. That speed. Keep that speed going. Y can always get better at everything, but just continue what I finished last year. Just be a more difference maker again. You know, I’ve been been a big difference maker in my career in my opinion and was a attack mode always guy. So I have to get back to that even more. They’re already in season mode. So the battle drills, five on five, battle corners, all this kind of stuff helped me a lot. You can always work on stuff, you know. For me defensively, I can work on a lot. So this helps me to um recognize stuff. Last week I had a camp here. I was sitting here on the bench and I was and then they brought it up and I was like, “Oh my god, it’s like it’s actually pretty cool, you know. It’s a big big step. Very proud of making a big event like this. It’s a game, you know, and we have lots of fans coming.” Um, so yeah, it’s a lot of support, you know, for a great cause. So I’m very excited and very appreciate it for all of them involved. This was the first time in Switzerland ever that something like this charity event happened. It was like over a year we was planning this. It was a big process. Kevin asked me a few weeks ago if I would help come to the game and putting an event together like this in August. I mean, you almost packed the whole arena with 10,000 people. So, it’s a you can tell more and more Swiss uh people watch hockey. foreign Everybody already in the warm-up we decided together we would do with no helmets you know so that was already special moment all the kids they were like oh my god they’re coming out with no helmets no helmets he gave so much joy and energy to the whole rink you know and to us players as well and it was so much fun so many people came so many fans over 10000 th000 people and when we walked in I was like oh yeah we’re in Switzerland. It’s an honor for me to be here to played with great players in a great cause as well. Uh so I was so pleased that I could uh I could come and feature in a game. He’s such a legend. He doesn’t have to do this. Like he’s playing hockey in England. I knew that and I’m like no way he’s coming. I I exchange numbers. I text him and like a minute after he’s like, “I’m in.” I’m like, “Oh my god.” It’s like that’s crazy. You know, he’s like I said, he’s such a big legend, one of the best goalenders ever to play in soccer. You know, I’m so pleased for him because it takes a huge amount of courage to organize an event like this. It’s lot of organization, lot of admin, you know, lot of uncertainty whether the players will make it, will not make it. And that’s a huge effort from everybody and and congratulations to him and his team because it’s it’s amazing how they managed to do all that together. And you could see the people were happy, the players were happy. We know when you want everything to happen well then it takes an effort ready was in front of me and he’s a total Swiss legend and I was like oh my god like it’s going to be a big difference with the screaming volume you know It was not a big difference, you know. And then I was like reality check. Oh my god. Like I got goosebumps. That was like a really proud moment. They’re really good role models and example and then I’m really proud of uh especially of Kevin and all the guys that come here taking a long way to have this game. He brings the hockey family closer. He shows everybody that’s important to as a as a professional player to do something good, that they get a lot from the sport and they want to give something back. Nice pass. That’s it. Boom. Boom. I think for me the amazing part was more the chemistry on the ice where obviously you know the guys are not playing that often together but uh they really you know show the skills and and the hockey IQ on the ice and and it was a pleasure to watch and of course uh it made it easier for me as well because they helped a lot. Hey, as you guys see on power. Come on. Very very happy with the outcome. I got great feedback from a lot of people, you know, and once again very appreciate um you know, my family and my friends spent so much time to help me to do this event. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. 32 teams are starting today. Everybody’s trying to get to the summit to Mount Everest. What’s in the top of Mount Everest? The Stanley Cup right up there. But you know, all these teams here, anything that you did last year, the 105 points that we had or the 75 points of somebody else means all means nothing. Start from scratch. You got to prove yourself all over again. The next seven games are an opportunity for lots of you to get ready for opening night and some of you to earn a spot on the team. The whole summer, we try to prepare ourselves for camp for season. You know, in camp there’s so many players coming in to compete about spots. So that gets exciting and intense. First thing I would say to you, I want to win the Stanley Cup. You guys want to win the Stanley Cup. You guys are a lot closer than you think. I was on the other side. It It wasn’t quite so easy. You guys were in the position. Now you got to put the throttle down. And the throttle starts tomorrow and the day after. And it starts in October and November and December. And when we get to the playoffs, we’re going to be rolling.

GKG!!!
As a fellow Swiss, we are very proud of the quality of the Swiss NHL players on and off the off the ice. Not only are many of them in key positions in their teams (Josi and Hischier carrying the C and driving the bus in their teams, Fiala, Meier, Niederreiter and so many others really putting it in, or Siegenthaler as one of the best defensive defenders in the NHL) but as it seems they are wonderful characters in private.
Proud and happy they got there and their hard work paid off!
