OILERS TODAY | Pre-Game vs SEA 09.24.25

[Music] Game number four of the preseason sees Edmonton host the Seattle Kraken with the return of some familiar faces as both Conor McDavid and Leon Dryidle are in and playing on the same line. Now to their right is Tren Frederick who’s not only in a new spot at right wing but also changed the color of his stick tape and number heading into the new campaign offering a sense of renewal for the forward. Yeah, playing right wing. Uh so it’s a little bit new. I mean not new but played a little bit last year there but uh in Boston I played a lot but here not as much. Uh I’ve always been a black tape guy. Uh I was just struggling last year so switched it up and then I couldn’t I couldn’t switch back. It was weird. So, I was excited to get back to black tape. You know, with history with with Freddy, he scored 18 goals two years in a row in probably more of a third line role. That’s pretty impressive. So, um he certainly has a lot of skill. He was a first round pick. Um you know, he’s tough as nails and um I think that’s certainly a guy that’s that’s willing to learn how to play a certain a certain way to be to be successful. And um you know, if we can help him, you know, become more productive and become more successful, then of course we’re going to do that. So, it’s dryidle, McDavid, and Frederick leading the way with Yanmark, Lazar, and Hudson rounding out the top six. However, a lot of eyes will be on that third line, specifically on number 88 and number 86 in Majapani and Tomasik, while Echome and Buchard also make their preseason debuts. However, the player behind him in the dep chart has also garnered a lot of attention in natural lepardin as he’s been impressive all throughout camp and in preeason action as his poise and calmness has been a big benefit for head coach Chris Knoblock. Um his playmaking um you know being able to make those slick little passes um you know slipping it underneath a four checker stick or you know spinning off a guy to break the puck out. Um, you know, I think he’s still getting used to the, you know, the smaller ice area, the confinement of it. Uh, but, you know, I think for just coming over here and he’s put in a pretty strong showing and we should remember that Lepin led Lia in Finland in scoring last season as a defenseman and also set the all-time points record by a bluel liner in that league before signing a one-year contract with Edmonton in April. And behind Leopardin, it will be Steuart Skinner. And as confirmed by head coach Chris Knobblock, number 74 will get the full 60 plus here tonight. For this TV, I’m Tony Br.

Trent Frederic will get a look alongside McDavid and Draisaitl as the Oilers host Seattle on Wednesday night. Tony Brar reports from Rogers Place.
