Cribbs dominance is diminished nationally because he played in the same era as Hester. But we will never see returners like those guys ever again IMO.
Cribbs absolutely deserves it, but I doubt he gets in. Hopefully I’m wrong about that.
Special player.
“A symbol of hope, for hopeless times”
Josh Cribbs really was an insane athlete. Best returner, lead the special teams in tackles too.
Who are the other 5?
I think Cribbs could have an outside chance in a world where the HOF took special teams seriously. He had a solid stretch where he could single-handedly win games, and that includes the early period where he was a top shelf gunner too.
I don’t think anyone on this list gets in, Lewis is the only one with a chance.
Tailgate 19 👀
Look I know this is a homer take but I think it’s perfectly reasonable to put a guy who is the all time leader in a statistical category like KO returns TDs into the HOF. I’d support that decision if he were a Stiller.
If Hester made it cribbs 100% should make it
I will never forget Jamal Lewis steamrolling us and then joined us when he was supposedly washed but he ended up being the best RB we had since the return at that time.
Metcalf > Cribbs
Cribbs is top 32 all time all purpose yards. I hope he gets in! Local Legend
By virtue of singlehandedly beating the Stillars on Thursday Night Football Cribs deserves to be in the HOF. But that’s just my super-biased opinion.
Metcalf is in the discussion for greatest returner and also had some successful as a receiver. 100+ catch season.
Had we just played him at slot receiver he could have balled.
I went to Ravens at Browns in ‘07 and was fortunate to have tickets at the 50 in first row right behind the Cleveland Sideline. Josh Cribbs walked past a few times within feet from me and I was astonished how big of a guy Cribbs was.
I’m still salty they never gave Cribbs a shot at qb. I was 14-21 for his tenure and I was clamoring for Cribbs to get a game. Our quarterback play was so awful I still think it would have been worth giving him a shot lol.
It certainly an interesting list, I would say that Joshua Cribbs should be in there. Outside of him, I think Brown is a no brainer. Tough to quantify what Washington did as a nose tackle during the 3-4 era. But, I think he should get a strong look. I love both Metcalf and Lewis – kind of think Lewis should be in. Lewis only played 9 years and if you compare him to what Terrell Davis did, the same rules apply and same “at the height of his game” argument. (I don’t count Lewis’ missed year due to injury)
