We had a chance to get Walker Kessler, a graduate of Woodward Academy in College Park, in the 2022 draft BUT selected AJ Griffin at 16 instead. Kessler was selected at 22 by the Memphis Grizzlies who then traded his rights to the Twolves who then traded him to the Jazz. He was a finalist for ROTY & finished 3rd in voting. He averaged a double-double in points & rebounds last season . He had a career high 20pts, 21 rebounds game vs Twolves in January 2023. Hawks could use his production off the bench and start KP & OO to maximize the effectiveness. A move like that would push our squad to the top of EC. Cmon FO make the call 👍🏾

  1. We don’t need another C and ainge will want an overpay. Also I don’t see anyway they start oo and kp and then bench who Jalen?

  2. No shot Utah has any intention of letting him leave. Either this is an attempt to get a cheaper extension through RFA or they and Kessler have an agreement to sign an extension next year so they have more cap space to make a move in free agency

  3. The new CBA is equivalent to 3 max players total. If you spend .5 on Kessler it’s harder to field a competitive roster. Some teams are gonna have to get rid of home grown talent once they get past the rookie scale or lose money.

  4. I wouldn’t think too much of this. Kessler will be a restricted free agent next summer and the Jazz can just match whatever another team will offer.

The same is likely to happen with Dyson Daniels for the Hawks.
