Derrick Henry: ‘This Is a Huge Game’ | Baltimore Ravens
I’m still pissed off, um, mad at myself. I’m my worst critic, so, you know, I I don’t try to harp on it too much. You know, I talk to my family, at people that, you know, um, I get advice from, my teammates, um, lean on them, but at the same time, it’s a problem I got to get fixed. So, you know, I’m I’m working on it. I’m working as hard as I can, you know, to, you know, let this issue be resolved. And you know, it’s it’s tough right now. It’s been consecutive weeks back to back to back, which is crazy. That’s why y’all saw me in distract cuz I was just like, can’t believe this happened for a third time. But just got to go back to work and, you know, push forward even though it’s even though it’s hard. Um, can’t nobody fix it but yourself. So, you know, I got to accept it like a man. Everything that comes with it, you know, I I accept cuz it’s my responsibility to take care of the ball for this organization. How’s this new territory for you? How do you approach? I mean, you’ve never been through something. Never. Never. Um, maybe it’s just some something God want to put me through and um maybe it’s testing my faith right now. And uh um just got to keep keep believing and keep and keep working. Um like I told uh my family the other day, you know, um those tables turn and right now this ain’t turn my way, but when they do, I’ll be ready. Is it tough to keep it from staying on your mind mentally? Um, I mean it’s tough cuz like you know the situation that you know is how how it’s happening. You know they got Buffalo and um uh Cleveland by the grace of God we recovered that but it was early in the game but then you know that one happens late in the game and you know critical situation. So, just a situation that is happening and it’s just like I feel like I’m letting my teammates down, which I I don’t want to do. And you know, it’s everybody know it’s not happening on purpose, but it’s a problem that got to get fixed. And I’m going go out there and work every day to make sure that the problem is resolved, but at the same time, it’s it’s still tough cuz, you know, it was just two days ago. Do you make adjustments like on where you hold the ball or do you just think it’s something where you just have to be more conscious of it and who’s around you? Yeah, I mean, you know, definitely, you know, as a running mm, I want to hold the ball high and tight. You know, it’s embarrassing for me to be talking about this because I’m having this issue, but you know, you got to hold the ball high and tight to keep away from defense, keep away from the defender. Um, so you keep the ball and, you know, we have a thing we call Raven Car to, you know, have another arm around it to keep it protected and keep from defense from from getting to it. And, you know, I just got to keep doing that um in practice and let it transition to the game. But just know I’m working. I’m working and it’s it’s rough right now, but it’s going to come back around. I promise you. Does it provide like an extra sense of motivation for you when you have those rare moments and your health check and that kind of thing? I mean, yeah, for sure. But when stuff like that happens, I feel like the week goes by slower. So, you just like waiting and itching, you know, for another opportunity. But, you know, I think I just God um will put you in the situation um you know, to see how I respond to it and I’m ready to respond. Did you change up anything in your practice routine or just more of the same? Yeah. No, I just got to take care of the ball. That’s all it is. Derek, just kind of zooming out. I mean, you know, obviously that Buffalo game, you Lamar in the ground game were really a rough shot the last two weeks have been tougher. There’s some various factors involved with that, but what do you think this offense needs to do in the big picture to kind of get back to running the ball again the way you were in week one? Well, I just think just executing um uh playing our style, doing what we do that what we have done and what they’ve done around here for years and um you know, just keep trusting and believing one another. We have everybody to be explosive and, you know, um, have big plays in the run game and be physical, dominate the line of scrimmage. We just got to go do it. Everybody practices hard. Nobody’s not trying to do it. It’s just of, you know, execution. We just got to go out here and do that. I know it’s just week four, but everyone can’t sit here. Are people aware of just how big this game is, or you guys treat it just like any other? Hell no. This is this is a it’s a huge game. You know, we’re we’re one and two. you don’t want to be one or two and the same thing for them and um you know last year was a close game. Um you know it was a toll from going into overtime but you know this team has been a dynasty for a while now. They’re solid on all three phases. Um defense um I think they’re solid from top to bottom. Um and they got game records. So, you know, it’s it’s the preparation is very key this week to be prepared and, you know, um the pract practice execution in practice just so uh it relates in terms to to the game of us, you know, be able to make plays, but you know, we got to uh be focused and do what we need to do to be ready for something. Derek, you played a lot of games in Kansas City over your career. Do you like playing in an environment like that? Yeah, I mean that that uh their fans and that that stadium gets loud. So I mean you live for big games like that, you know, as a as a kid. That’s what you want to play in environments like that. You know, get that that that state of me.

Take those mf sleeves off!
No worries Derrick Flocknation standuppp
I blame a lot of this on coaching schemes
Plus we never know how to adjust in games
Its the O line getting beat on the edge an not creating lanes once he gets to the second level they aint touching the ball
On to the Next Big Homie!!!πππ
Bro gotta tighten up. It may feel to him like those games were lost because of him but itβs not the case. And we got 14 more games. All that spazzing out is unnecessary. Lock in
His spirit looks kinda broken. C'mon π!! Don't think about too much big guy.
Accepted let's get to work Hen
King Henry mentioned holding the ball high and tight to the chest. I believe he definitely needs to do that the way Tiki Barber for the Giants back in the day did when he was suffering from his bout of fumblelitis. The other half of the equation is the O-Line. They need to open up better holes for Henry to run through ππ€
We believe in you, continue believing in yourself ππ€
The goat π
We believe in you Derrick
2 hands on the football doesnt hurt big fella, keep ballinβ cause we gonna need you for the stretch run.
Gotta move on eventually to focus on the KC game have a strong mentality going into the next game hopefully the ravens get the w
Keep giving him the π regardless, 20+ carries a game.
Stay up.keep.pushing brother.u.will.get together
High & Tight King π Henβ¦ High & Tight
Shake it off big dawg and take them frustrations out on the chiefs
I hope we have a psychologist on the team to help our dudes get into a better headspace. The body language from the team is at an all time low, and nobody gets pissed when we get punched in the mouth. We play like a neutered mutt.
We love you and believe in you totally β€β€β€β€β€
Poor Henry, man. It isn't your fault, they just made a helluva play.
One game at a time. We need you mane π€πΎ
Lose the arm sleeves
The League is ruthless. Stick around long enough and it will find your weakness. These fumbles aren't just him losing the ball it's well-executed and timed punches. So he has to become extra aware and practice new techniques.
Heβs not gone fumble next week
