Brewers vs. Padres Game Highlights (9/24/25) | MLB Highlights

Four games left to play for the Padres’s and things are up for grab. Let’s check out the standings. After a Dodgers loss last night, the division is still within reach. The Padres’s are just a game and a half back at LA. The Cubs also lost. So, the top wildard spot is also up for grabs. Also a game and a half back. They just have to win. Everything else is out of their control. They got to win here at home where they play very, very well. On the mound for the San Diego Padres’s is Dylan CE. Things are rolling for the San Diego club. And for Dylan CE, 32nd start, his 16th at home. He has now faced every major league team in his career. Trying to lower the erra. Christian Yelich digs in leading off for a third consecutive game. And a ground ball towards the left side. Tough play. Bogarts gets rid of it quickly on one hop. Arise can’t pick it. And will it trickle into the dugout? It will. It’ll be an extra 90 ft for Christian Yelich. An infield single. And then an E6. That ball kind of slicing away from Luis Arise. A tough play for any first baseman. Runner in scoring position. Jackson Cheerio trying to find his swing. He’s in the middle of an 0 for 18. Elevates and strikes out. Cheerio. First strike out of the day for Dylan Se. That’s the fast ball coming in at 96. Two outs and no score in the top of the first inning as the Milwaukee first baseman Andrew Vaughn stands in. Sharply hit to the backhand. Bogards has got it. His throw is perfect. Inning is over. Yelich gets left at second. Padres are coming up. Right hand Chad Patrick working on just three days rest. He started on Saturday in St. Louis. 56 pitches in that one. Four and a third. Gave up five hits, two earned runs. Srise riding a 12-game hitting streak into today’s action. Line into center field. Make it a 13game hitting streak. Base hit. His first AB of the afternoon. One two on Machado. Swinging a miss. He got him. That’s the cutter. First strike out for Chad Patrick. Jackson Merrill and he struck him out. There’s that breaking ball from Chad Patrick. See that spike grip goes straight down. Gets a swing and miss on Merrill. First walk of the day allowed by Chad Patrick. Potters are looking to score first for the fourth straight game. They’ve got to rise at second. Sheets at first. Two down here in the Padres’s first inning. Xander’s last hit was an infield single in the second inning August 27th in Seattle. Fly ball center field. Back goes Churio on the warning track leaping and he brought it back. Jackson Churio took three runs off the board. Takes a home run away from Xander Bogards. What a play from Churio and we are still tied at zero. We go to the second inning. South Freick to lead things off for the Brewers. That is strike three gets him looking. The fast ball at 98 frozen and it’s the second strike out of the day for Dylan Case as Caleb Durban will bat. Strike three gets him looking. Slider again. Back to back case for Dylan Se. He may have got a call here. It’s another slider. It’s off the plate. Thank you. There’s Jake Bowers, the left fielder. Bowers down the right field line. This one’s got some carry. It’s off the top of the wall. Bowers digging for two. And the throw is offline from Lauraniano. It’s a double for Jake Bowers. He has been impressive. Jake Bowers just missed a home run by a couple of feet. Ninth double of the year for Bowowers. And now here’s Andrew Monisterio. And a swing and a miss. He struck him out. Four seam fast ball. We’re scoreless from San Diego. Lauraniano has been a great addition for this Padres’s lineup. Two two is a check swing foul. Another fast ball kind of riding up and in. Check out where this foul ball off his finger. We knew he got in on that cutter, but didn’t realize it hit him on the fingers. And the pitch and he froze him. breaking ball upper inside corner. Lauriana, no argument from him. He strikes out looking. Hearn led this inning off with a single to center. He’s still at first with two down. For me, one for six so far in the series. One ball and two strikes on Fine. The pitch swing and a miss. He struck him out. Couple of strikeouts in a scoreless second inning for Chad Patrick. He’s got four strikeouts on the afternoon. Well, we’re scoreless as we head to the top of the third and Bryce Johnson has taken over in right field for the Padres’s defensively. Gloriano seemed to hurt himself on a swing. Yeah, remember that sinker in that he fouled off and then after this swing, he shakes his right hand immediately, grimaces, gets checked out in the dugout. Ricky Huerta going through some strength exercises on that hand and visibly in pain. Danny Jansen very patiently works a leadoff walk. Either a strikeout or a weak grounder. Let the defense work for you here. 3-2 back to the mound. Cheese will throw it to second pick by Bogurts. throw to first. He’ll be late. Nice play by Xander Bogart as that one was spiked to second base. They do get the lead runner now. A buntid dropped down by Cheurio and a high throw to first and he’s safe and a rise came down awkwardly as well. Hopefully he’s okay. Dylan having trouble throwing to bases. I mean Luis can only jump so high. He’s got to leave the bag and no was ruled a sacrifice and an E1 on the throw. And you got Bryce Tang coming up next. left side diving is Boggress with the backhand. He flips and got him. Wow. Pat Murphy says challenge it. It’s a big call in this game. It looked safe by a lot in real time. Take another look. Great play again by Bogard. Is a great play to save a run for sure. Keeps it in the infield and then backhand flips it. Have to review. The call on the field is overturned. The runner is safe. Milwaukee will retain their challenge. Successful challenge for Pat Murphy. So that will load the bases. Yellow at third, Churio at second, Tang at first. Opportunity here for Andrew Vaughn to do some damage. One out in the inning. Vaughn one hopper to Bogarts to second for one on to first. There’s your two 643 on the DP. Now to work out of the jam is Case getting the DP for Scoreless and a leadoff walk in the bottom of the third inning. Here’s Manny Machado who struck out swinging in the first inning. And he got him again. Perfect execution. Fifth strikeout for Chad Patrick. The rise at first with one out for Jackson Merrill. He struck out in the first. Runner goes swinging a miss. Throw to second base is going to be in time. A strike him out. Throw him out double play. Patrick gets out of the inning. Great throw from Danny Jansen and a perfect pitch executed by Chad Patrick. Back to back. In fact, four in a row now for Dylan Sew. Eight on the afternoon. And it’s two away here for Bryce Tang. It’s into left field. A base hit for Bryce Tang. He’s got two hits on the day and it’s an opportunity for Vaughn again. Vaughn hit with the bases loaded in the third with one away. That’s in the dirt. Going to get by Fine. He doesn’t know where it is. Terra is going to take third base and Fine picked it up. If he lets that ball roll and it rolls into the dugout, the umpires send Terra back to second base cuz at the time of the pitch, if it goes out of play, it’s only one base. So that’s a huge 90 ft that Terra takes. Trying to break the scoreless tie. It’s three and two. Line down the left field line. A fair ball. The Brewers strike first. Vaughn into second base with an RBI double. It’s one- nothing Milwaukee. What a big hit from Andrew Vaughn. And just an exceptional approach. Brewers finally get that big hit with a man in scoring position. This will be 100 pitches for Dylan CE. And a popup right side. Cron shading his eyes will make the catch and ends the inning, but the Brewers get a run. take a one- nothing lead. Two down in the sixth inning for Jackson Merrill. Merryill like Machado has struck out every time he’s come to bat today. One, two in the air to left field. That’s well struck. Bowers is back into the corner at the wall. This one going to go. Jackson Merrill puts it over the little wall in left field and opposite field homer to tie this game one in the bottom of the sixth. This ball slicing, slicing, slicing. Stay fair. Oh yeah, he put it in the basket. Tied at one. Stolen base for Turio with two down in the inning. It’s in a scoring position and a guy who can handle the bat well into Terang at the plate. Runner goes line back up the middle. A base hit. Turio will score and the Brewers regain the lead with two strikes. Bryce Terang does it again for the Brewers. He’s come through all season long with big hits, big RBI’s. He does so again against the tough lefty and Adrien First real rally of the day for the Padres’s. First time all day they’ve had two hits in the same inning. The sacrifice is complete. Bogards to third, O’Harn to second. Nicely done. So Cronorth not going to get the opportunity. They’ll load the bases. That obviously creates a force at the plate. Also a potential double play with Freddy Fine coming. Chance of Freddy starting to rain down on Fine. Got him. Slater at the bottom of the zone and Chad Fairchild rings him up. And Mike Schil is coming out as Serene has some things to say. Not happy. And Shilt coming out to get him. And now one of them has been tossed. Said I didn’t say anything to you. So I guess Shil got tossed. He was coming out there to protect for mean is what he’s saying. Obviously you’re not allowed to come out and argue balls and strikes as a manager. Base is still loaded. Here’s a rise. Fly ball right center. It will be Sal Felic giving way to Churio at the last moment and Mirs works his magic and gets out of the jam. There’s Danny Jansen. Base hit in the walk today. He’s also struck out one out of two. Jansen a drive to left. If it’s fair, it’s going to be gone. It is a fair ball off the Metal Supply Company and a huge home run for Danny Jansen. What a bomb. His second in a Brewers uniform. And that is a huge breath of fresh air. Big insurance run. Big swing by Danny Jansen. Abd on to try and convert the save. He’s five out of seven. He’s been brilliant so far this year. So two down for Jake Cronorth. Got him. He threw a slider. Ube puts it in the holster and the Brewers have matched their franchise record with 96 wins. And the magic number for the best record in baseball is down to one.
