  1. Goaltending. That’s all they needed the last two seasons. Even mediocre goaltendimg would have done it.

  2. Lol no this is not a roster that’s competing with the top tier teams. I just want to embrace that and look to improve the future rather than treading water in the middle of the pack. It’s the worst place to be

  3. This team is closer to playoffs then lottery, enjoy watching Sid do his thing which is compete to win

  4. They can definitely find a way back to the playoffs, by tanking this year and maybe the next, then we’ll talk about playoffs.

  5. If they don’t end up trading people and everyone plays healthy and close to their potential, they could be a fringe playoff team with a bit of puck luck. But why would they want to?! It makes zero sense, as best case scenario is a first round playoff exit. Move pieces for draft picks/assets and start the rebuild. The answer is so clear.

  6. Anyone who thinks this season is anything but a race for the bottom doesn’t really follow the game.

  7. The fan in me would love to see them in the playoffs but the realist in me would love to see them finish dead last.

The defense is atrocious and the goaltending is a massive question mark. Forward group isn’t awful but I struggle to imagine the 3rd/4th lines doing much scoring. Even the second line will probably be below league average. Finally, they’re likely to trade some of their better pieces.

  8. Each of the last 2 seasons, a lot of us thought we would fight and claw for the 7th or 8th spot. I tried to tell people that this was a very flawed team outside of Crosby, Rakell and Rust.

Jarry is an average goalie at best. If you don’t have a good goalie in the NHL then you have nothing.

    Tank for the McKenna

  9. Everyone so negative. Watch penguins be a top 3 east team out of no where haha new coach magic

  10. If we end up same as last season and then win the draft lottery (just as NYI did), and get MacKenna (after Lemieux – albeit not a lottery at the time – and then the Crosby/Fleury/Malkin win).

People would scream that the lottery is rigged 😆 They’ll be outraged!
