[CLNS] Christian Gonzalez on if he told Mike Vrabel that he wanted to play last Sunday: “Of course. I never don’t want to play. So, that narrative that’s out there, I don’t know where people get it from but all I want to do is play football.”
At the end of the day it’s the NFL owners fault for limiting when teams can extend young players, so I’m sure Gonzalez is protecting his value for when he’s eligible for his new contract.

If Gonzo really was ready to play and Vrabel said no, that tells me Vrabel is looking at the long term vision of this team. Winning now would be nice, but winning for a long time will be nicer. You do that by making sure guys stay healthy.
Feels like a consistent story coming out of everyone from the team here. The injury situation with Gonzo has been disappointing but he’s never been anything but max effort and really has come a ways with his tackling since college.
So I don’t understand why this narrative needs to exist.
I wasn’t aware of this narrative and don’t understand it. Hamstring injuries are notorious for bubbling back up if the recovery is rushed. Patience is the right call
