Cardinals vs. Giants Game Highlights (9/24/25) | MLB Highlights
The Cardinals trying to sweep away the San Francisco Giants who they eliminated from playoff competition. The Cardinals still have a shot and it’ll be a bullpen game for the Giants tonight. Robbie Ray will not pitch in this series. So JT Brewbaker, who made his big league debut against St. Louis a few years ago, will be their opener tonight. Get up the middle. C got him. And that’s how this game gets started. Oh my goodness. And look at the spear. I hope they get a a photo of that for the Chronicle because that’ll go in his Hall of Fame. More work for CS who’s going to knock it down. Side retired on the hill tonight for the Cardinals will be the veteran right-hander Sunny Gray. Looking for that careerhigh 15th victory in this one. Also six strikeouts shy of 200. Yet again, the sweeper strikes out Ramos. One up and one man down. A swing and a miss. Adamus strikes out. And Sunny indeed is closing in on 200. He’s at 196. All right, no score. Here’s Areronado. Aronado to Smith. Wow, one pitch. And what a nice play. Well, he’s got the most instinct of any position that he plays is at third base. He came up as a third base and he’s played a lot of innings there. Schmid glides to his left. Inning over. Six in a row retired by Grub. Sunny Gray. Two strikeouts in the first inning. Is now four away from 200. And a swing and a miss. That was top of the zone. Sunny struck out three of the first four San Francisco hitters. Now here is Gayy Schmid. There’s a drive in a deep left field way back there. Still going off the wall. The carum is played by the left fielder Nukemar. The throw into second. The slide and it bounces off the glove of the second baseman Donovan. It’s a double for Casey Schmid. Jung Hu Lee the center fielder. One out of four run batted in and a strike out last night. Junghoo goes the other way. On the move is Scott and it’s going to fall. And here comes Schmidt. And Lee’s got a double. And Schmidt comes in to score to give the Giants a one- nothing lead. I believe that ball should have been caught. So now the bases are loaded. Let’s see what happens here with Elliot Ramos at the plate. Little chopper hit left side. Aronado goes the short way to second and that will retire the sides. And that is now eight straight retired by Brewbaker. This one is squibbed towards short and that’ll get down for a base hit and he’s a first with the first Cardinal hit. Brendan Donovan, what a day for him yesterday. A four double night last night. Swing drive hit high in the air deep toward right. That one is going to bounce off the high brick wall. Here comes Victor around third. He will score without a throw. It’s another double. Another RBI for Brendan Donovan. And this game is tied. RBI number 50 and an eightgame hitting streak. So the Cardinals are back even. Here’s Herrera. And it’s a base hit to left. That’s going to bring home Donovan. Herrera with a soft single. It’s 2-1 St. Louis. His 66th RBI. His hit streak lives on. Cardinals two, Giants one. Devils who grounded out his first time up. Oh my. High D out of here and into San Francisco Bay. There’s the first one for Rafie Des. His first splash home run and it ties this game at two. Number 34. That was pretty cool to watch. Wild pitch advances Newar to third. So JC to second with one out. And now a base hit’s going to bring in a pair. And now a swing and a miss. Strike three. Hard slider from Brewbaker. Aes strikes out swinging. Two down. Walker drove the ball to deep center his first time up out to center field in the park to Jun Lee. Through all of that JT Brewbaker, nice job. Worked around the walk, the hit, the wild pitch. Cardinals don’t score. Cross walked his first time out. Unlike most of his hitting mates, he’s been a hot hitter over the last 12 games. That’s toward right. Walker on the run, headed for that corner. He’s got room and he drops it and costs it second. There’s a gift for the Giants. Had the ball in his glove. Something like that. And he dropped the ball. So a two base error. The Cardinals have made two errors in the outfield tonight. But advancing to third base is cost with one out. And Andrew Ker will bat to right. This is going to be deep enough. Walker catches. K scores. Giants take the lead. The Giants have a gift wrapped third run. So he’s one for three in the game and more trouble for Mr. Gray. He’s had base runners in every inning. But the first strike three call and their strikeout number 200 in 2025 for Sunny Gray. Cardinal Giants in another one-run game. First goes, pitch high. The throw right on the money and in time. You can’t throw it any better than that. Adamus is thrown out trying to steal. PZ with a perfect peg for the second out. Off Sunny’s glove, deflects to Donnie. He’s got it and the throw to first in time. One man down for Nbar who has struck out and walked. Strike three called on the outside corner. So Nbar gets called out after two different times he thought he had a walk. So two strikeouts for Seymour. Saji’s next. Wow. They’re going to ring up Saji for not being in the batters box. And without throwing a pitch, Saji is called out on strikes. Oliver Marmold is going to come argue this. It was a foul ball. Well, it’s only the second violation all year on a hitter. Yeah, Paul Clemens was hearing it from the Cardinals dugout. Two out, nobody on. Gray has gotten a couple of quick outs in this inning. He was 85 pitches through the fifth inning. Is slowly hit towards short. Thomas has it and the flip to first dropped by Berles. That’ll be a third Cardinal error tonight. With so much on the line, the Red Verirds defense has been sloppy here in game three. Hope it doesn’t cost us. Strong him out. Sunonny Gray with a curveball. Strikeout number 2011 this year. Now the batter will be the eighth place hitter Jordan Walker. Here’s a swing and a miss. Strike three. Fast ball at 98. He got Walker to chase. Carson Seymour gets his fourth strike out. Big chopper. Hurry up. They just got him. and Carson Seymour. Three scoreless innings on the mound tonight. See the body of work that Matt Gage has put up this year. 33rd appearance. 293 erra in 30 23 innings. Up the middle, a base hit. Herrera keeps on keeping on. A two hit night. So the tying runs aboard. Herrera. Well, there’s Berles. Burles has been held in check tonight with two ground outs. Swing drive hammered toward right. That is off the wall. Herrera on his way to third. He’ll be stopped there. Burles with a double and the Cardinals are in business with one out. Second and third down a run. Puto knows Aronado. I mean Arnado one for five against him. Swing fly ball center. That should get it done. Lee is back. He’s got it. Herrera will tag and score. Furles on his way to third and Nolan Aronado keeps the Cardinals alive in the eighth. It’s a three-3 game. Right guy, right spot entire career long. Nolan Aronado has been an RBI machine. He was sniffing another opportunity right there and got the job done. First and third for the Cardinals. And here’s Saji rung up on a pitch clock violation last time up clearing him as he struck it out. The Cardinals get the tying run. Gosh, a new lumber. We are in the eighth. It’s a little jam shot and it’s going to be a base it. Wow. Cardinals did everything right and they made it a close play which I didn’t think was going to happen. Now the pitch swing and the ground ball hits sharply right at Berles and he had a hard time maning maintaining control of that one. That’s the only way you could explain it. It winds up being a productive out. Giants trying to take the lead here in the eighth inning. Ker has walked hit a sacrifice fly knocked in the Giants third run of the game. center field and a base hit and he gets by Scott off to the races as Ker got ahead to third. Giants take the lead. What a night for him against his own team, the Cardinals. And he’s been one of the Giants top offensive stars in this game. So the Cardinals have their leadoff man on. Here’s Walker. Jordan 0 for three tonight. Possible double play ball. That’s one. And he got him. Walker knew he moves pretty well and he got him by plenty at first base. So two down, nobody on two out of three in a pitch. Here’s Verine. He bunts this one. Schmidt charging. Smith throwing. They got him. And that’s the ball game. Well, we’ve just about seen it all. An attempted bunt to end the game. And that game officially eliminates St. Lewis from postseason consideration.

Howdy folks! Rangerbob in the house! I would like to inform you that the San Francisco Giants have officially been eliminated from Postseason contention. This was quite the roller coaster of a season, and if I were a fan, I'd have no idea how to feel about this. Such a shame Justin Verlander has to go out like this. Better luck next year, boys. Oh and it looks like I'm first again! Woo hoo!🎉Rangersforever❤
I was at this game and no Cards sweep!!! This was such an outstanding game especially when Devers got his FIRST CAREER SPLASH HIT EVER which made it number 108!! Let’s hope we win this Friday 9/26 on Willie Mac Award Day & hope McDonald has it and I’ll be at this game & I think the winner is going to be Adames!! GO GIANTS!! So happy we finally won!!
Way to go giants. I used to say one game at a time, but youve only got a couple games to stay above 500.
I disagree with the Giants' announcer claiming that Lee's flare to left field "should have been caught". Ir was unfortunately exactly between Nootbaar, playing very shallow, and Scott too far away in straight center, and it's not like Scott is slow.
Nice job Giants, love eliminating St Lo
What an ugly loss. Among other things, Gray is simply incapable of retaining a lead once it's given to him (yeah, I know one run was from the awful error, but still).
The Cards shouldn't reflexively complain about the umpiring, especially when the umpire is correct. It's not a good look, Mr. Marmol.
Giants and Cards eliminate each other. Such gentlemanly teams we have lol
YAY!!
koss hall of fame? 🤣 wth is announcer smoking
the most un-racist city in USA beat the most racist city in USA
why did we end the year with a bunt…. i know the chances were slim… but c'mon
Thank you Lord for giving us ALL the talents and abilities to perform for your Glory. 😊 Amen.
