‘It’s Great That The Game Doesn’t Count, Let’s Put It That Way’: Nikolaj Ehlers, Sebastian Aho, Rod Brind’Amour On Preseason Loss

  1. Man those comments on Smith from Rod are pretty brutal, even if true. I agree with him though that the top line was looking nice in the first and early second

  2. I was there and everything looked great. The “collapse” in the third was laughable, but again, it’s the preseason and if they came out of the game perfect they’d be wondering what to work on.

It honestly sucks that Freddie got almost zero action. The saves he made he barely had to move for. Hell, that one shoulder save he made in the second I don’t think he moved at all. Very “minimal effort Anderson” tonight which is good, but I’m sure Zilla probably wanted a little more action than that. He had to work harder for saves in the training practice after-drill shootouts than he did tonight.

I saw a lot of good and one major takeaway was how good the prospects looked. I said this in like three other threads but guys like Seeley, Badinka, Nads, Lagault, Lebanc, and Smith just looked really good out there with just a few exceptions. Maybe not NHL ready, but definitely good enough to be backup if we need them and man, the Wolves are gonna hum this year if this is any indication. I don’t know what’s gonna happen with the PTO guys, but I really REALLY hope GMET sees something in them.

  3. For whatever reason…for me…Smith is standing out. Went to a practice and didn’t know most of the guys playing, and Smith stood out but I still didn’t know who he was. Then tonight again, he stood out…to me. He did all the right things…including dropping the gloves when it was called on. We just need a guy like that!!!!

  4. I blame it on doing the wave with like 12+ minutes to go. Bad juju all up in there after that
