Dodgers vs. D-backs Game Highlights (9/24/25) | MLB Highlights

The LA Dodgers taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks who entered today a game back of the New York Mets for that final wildcard spot. The Reds a game back as well. The Dbacks tonight can clinch their first season series win over the Dodgers since 2018. Dbacks three over 500. Only one game out of a wild card spot with five games remaining. And they have the guy on the mound tonight who’s been their most consistent pitcher all year long. Ryan Nelson, the right-hander. Well, obviously some big left-handed bats in this Dodger lineup. You got to control those left-handed hitters, and he has held lefties to a 185 average this year. Show stepping in his first at strokes this ball in the air to deep center field. It is at the wall and off it. And one day after he fires six scoreless innings, he leads off with a triple. the one and only Show Otani who does the Freddy and pokes plays Alexander in the eye. He hit it so high, Joe, but ended up coming down just below that yellow line. He thought he got it. Most stadiums that would be out of here. Boom in the face. That’s and Otani share the record for lead off home runs in a single season in franchise history at 12. And Otani almost added that record for himself on a 2- cracks one in the air to right field. Carol steadies under it. Comes on, makes the catch. Otani charges for the plate. Carol’s throw. Has no chance. And the Dodgers are on the board very quickly. Triple from Otani. Sacrifice fly from Bats. One- nothing in the first. Muny a very dangerous hitter in this lineup. Muny swinging a miss. Down on strikes. And that’ll do for the Dodgers in the first. Blake Snell dominant backto-back starts on the home stand. 11 strikeouts over six scoreless innings against the Rockies and then 12 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings against the Phillies. Marte hits a rocket to the 413 mark and it’s off the wall. Marte has a leadoff double. That’s why he’s in that leadoff spot against the left-handed starter. Tory likes that instant offense. Catel provides it here. And now the Diamondbacks have runners at first and third and only one out for Moreno. Corbin takes off for second. Moreno lines it to left. Pah is there and Corbin has to hustle back. Here comes Catel. Harold back safely. Martes home and it’s tied at one. Harvey for Moreno. Blaze Alexander 3-2 pitch. Swung on and miss. Strike three. Struck him out. He got him with a fast ball, but the Diamondbacks strike for a run on a hit. They leave a man. Let’s see if Ryan Nelson can settle in. Swing and a miss by Hernandez. Actto back strikeouts for Nelson. drops in for a base hit share. Tommy Edmond has been waiting for something to fall in for him. There’s been a lot of tough luck in his first couple weeks off of the injured list. Man aboard for Andy Pah who’s having an outstanding year for the Dodgers this year. Nelly at 96 blows him away and there’s two outs in the third. Three balls, two strikes, two outs. Nelson delivers. Swing and a miss. He struck him out and that’ll do it for the Dodgers in the second. Nelson strikes out the side. The Dodgers spread one. Roi Sasaki ready to go on that Dodger bullpen tonight. Clayton Kershaw as well. Snell will try to get this pitch count under control and limit the coverage that the pen is called on for. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Struck him out with a change up. Second strike out of the game for Snell. No runs to hit a man left. One up, one down. Here comes the top of the order and Otani. Swing and a miss. And there goes Otani. Got him to chase not only off the plate but up too. I think Kotani just saw the fast ball and couldn’t stop his swing. And rookie bets the way he’s been swinging the bat the last go more than a month. It’s like he’s getting that postseason itch again. Passes the baton to Freddy Freeman into right center field. That’s going to get down for a base hit. It’s another two-out hit for the Dodgers and they’ve got him cornered with two outs. The Dodgers have runners at the corners and Max Muny on his way to the plate. Breaking ball to beauty. Swing and a miss and Monty down on strikes. The Dodgers trail two. One-on-one for Purdomo. But there is a milestone that is on the back of his mind. No doubt the 100 RBI mark. He is sitting at 98. Purdomo back spins a fly ball to the gap in left center field. Pah able to make the catch. Didn’t take a perfect angle for it, but had enough reach to make up for it. Was absolutely incredible. running into the left center field gap and at an angle toward the wall he lipped up there and the and in midair made an over the shoulder catch. Boy, that is absolutely terrific to retire Pomo with one out. The Dodgers have the go-ahead run on base. It’s going to bring up Pahes. Pah a strikeout victim his first time up. Here’s the high drive off of the bat of Andy Pahes. Back to the track at the wall. Goodbye. A two-run home run to put him ahead. 26th of the year for Pahz. Dodgers up three to one. Oh, that was a no doubter. Tell you, this young man has had himself quite a season. I tell you what, he’s got some electricity in that bat. Blaze Alexander starts us off in the bottom of the fourth against Blake Snell. This is Blaze versus Blake. Blaze broken back just beyond the reach of Mudy. And Blaze, hold on there. Big turn around first. There goes the runner for third. Pitch. Swing on a miss. Throw down and Alexander has the base stolen. That’s the second time the Diamondbacks have stolen third on the Dodgers. Matawa strikes out and they’re a two away. Runner at third and two down. Ilaro Vargas, the batter, fires a two- two. Vargas pulls one on the ground to third. My’s got it. Over to first in time. To the fifth we go. And back to back outs and quick succession. This could be a sub 10 pitch inning for Nelson depending on what Muny does. Swing and a foul tip. He’s stuck with the hard stuff. Muny strikes out and it’s a one, two, three. Top of the fifth inning. Eight strikeouts for Nelson. Jorge Barrosa, the center fielder, leads off against left-hander Blake Snell. Bar Roa left side diving stop by Muny and needed to be perfect with Barrosa’s speed. He was dazzling play for the first down of the fifth. Made a terrific stab and got up and threw out Bar Roa for the first down of the Arizona fifth. make 30 starts in a season, you’re going to have a handful of games where you feel like you’ve got everything working. You’re going to have a handful of games where you feel like you got nothing. And this seems like one of those in between days for Blake Snell that will define a season will go on to define a career the way guys handle those in between days. He gets a swing and a miss right there on Pomo. He’s got a one, two, three, fifth. But for Ryan Nelson, his last 19 starts, only one time has he pitched under five innings. He has been as reliable as anybody. He’s just remarkably consistent. He’s retired seven Dodgers in a row. Swinging and a miss. Got him to chase a slider and he is down on strikes. Nelson has struck out nine. Blake Snell goes back to work even without his best stuff today. Snell with just one run over five innings. His last three games, one run in 18 innings. Up the middle, Rojas sizes it up, steps on the bag, and fires to first. A double play. Blaze Alexander the batter now out of the one. Two pitch got him with a change up. Six down Alexander. Five strikeouts in the game now for Blake Snell who gets through six innings. Here’s left-hander Andrew Saul Frank who’s been dealing with some left shoulder discomfort. We’ve not seen Andrew since he picked up the win here last Tuesday. First one is grounded to first. It’s picked up by Vargas. He steps on the bag. He throws high to second, but Peromo gets the tag down. It’s a double play and that’s going to do it for the Dodgers here in the seventh. This is rookie right-hander Roki Sasaki. He’s made just eight appearances all year, all starts after he signed in January, but he’s been out for the last four months with a right shoulder impingement and is back tonight to work out of the bullpen. Two-2 strike three on the inside corner. Two gone and Sasaki’s first inning. This the guy that broke Otani’s record for the fastest pitch on record in Japanese high school baseball. Wow. What do we have here? One, two, three go. The Diamondbacks. Two strikeouts for Sasaki. And he looks impressive in his first outing out of the bullpen. Dexs have a right-hander Juan Mario up and ready. They’re going to stick with the left-hander Abner against Hernandez. This is a huge hole. I guarantee you if Hernandez torches Abner for some damage, that’ll be the first question asked. Why stick with the rookie left-hander? Thrilled to left center field. Tawz going back. It is off the wall. Bets is chugging around third. Peromo juggles the relay. Hernandez heads for third. He’s there. Dodgers take a four to one lead. Tasks Hernandez roaring his way into third. And now the pitching change is going to be made. Will it be a day late and a dollar short? New pitcher is on for the Dodgers. Left-hander Alex Vessia. The Dodgers with a 4 to1 lead. Line to left field. Diving try and a catch from Andy Pahz who’s having himself one well-rounded night. Corbin Carroll to the plate representing the tying run. Well, how many times has Corbin Carroll found himself in the most critical moments or the most critical games in his short tenure as a Diamondback? Left-handed hitting outfielder facing Vasia with two on and one out. Base hit. It’s in the right field corner. Marte will score. Bogar will stop hero. Carvin Carroll for the RBI double and three straight have reached in the eighth. Messier out, new arm is in. We got a brand new ball game, folks. tying runs at second and third with only one out. Gabby Moreno at the plate. Little tapper. Here comes Pernomo and everybody’s safe. That’s a base hit for Gabby. It’s 43. He’s at first and the tying runs at third. Dave Roberts shaking his head in that Dodger dugout. And Gardo Enriquez is going to face Adrien Del Castillo as a pinch hitter. Deep to center. Edmond backing up. He’s got it. Here comes Corbin and we are tied at four. Yep. And the bullpen another lone save. Well, for the first time since the last day of the regular season in 2019, Clayton Kershaw will pitch in relief. In preparation for a roll like this in October, trying to send this game to the 10th, flies it to right center field. Edmonds over. Edmond dives and makes the catch. Oh, what a play by Tommy Edmond. Unreal. He laid out full extension in the right center field gap about as far as he could go and he snow cones the catch and we’re going to extra innings. Free runner was supposed to be Ben Rovat. Brilliant move right here. Going to the speedy Hesson Kim. Top of the order coming up for the Dodgers. Show Otani will face Brandon Garcia. Got him boy. Brandon Garcia with that sweeper and Otani couldn’t lay off. And there’s one down for Muki Bats. And again, getting the leadoff hitter without advancing the runner is so crucial for the home team an extra inn. Swinging a line drive to right field. That’s a base hit. Carol has it. Comes up firing. They’re going to send Kim home. Here’s the throw. They got him. Carol once again, his ninth outfield assist. And we are tied at four. Kim has got tremendous speed. Throw got there in plenty of time. He’s out. Out. He is out. We’re tied at four in the 10th. Two down. Here’s the two-2. Strike three called. Fast ball right by him. And the Dodgers failed to score as we go to the bottom of the tenth. Bases are going to be loaded. One out. You got McCarthy coming up. Jack Dryer with a left on left here trying to get McCarthy. Popped it up. As good as a strike out. Mookie Betts takes command. Two gone in the 10th. They have a golden opportunity to put themselves in a wild card spot with a base hit right here. Fly ball. Shallow right field. Rojos is out. Tea Oscar’s on and we go to the 11th and the Diamondbacks fail to score. Runner at third base, but they’re now two down in the inning. And here comes Tommy Edmond who will hit from his preferred right side. He’s going to take a two out hit. Tommy Edmond lines one over short and into left center field to give him the lead. Tommy Edmond with a two out two strike go ahead base hit. 54 in the 11. James McCann the runner at second base in the bottom of the 11th and Tim gets it started. Fouled into the glove. Strike three. Wow. Rushing was all over that. I thought I heard something. I thought it hit his body but watch it catch the knob. Wow. You’re talking just an inch there. The Diamondbacks are down to their final out and Alec Thomas coming to the plate. Biggest game of the season. Two outs, tying run at third. Here’s the O2. Swung out and miss strike three. Ball game is over. Oh, this one’s going to sting for a little bit for the Diamondbacks. And the Dodgers shrink the magic number to one to clinch the

  1. can't believe I'm seeing people overreact to 1 bad game. We played bad, I get it. However to say the tigers aren't a championship team is just ridiculous. To everyone who thinks they won't be champs in October, all I'm gonna say is don't come to the parade in November

  2. Generally, I prefer House of Highlights uploads over MLB uploads because of their incredible upload speed, but today they really botched the highlights 😛 So I'm here

  3. Everyone can see how flat and easy to hit those Dodgers bullpen throw. It's too obvious. So they suddenly collectively can't remember how to throw pitches with speed or placement differential??
It's a fake setup to create all these drama to make baseball look exciting. 😂
