Debunking Canadian Myths And Primetime Football | AZ Cardinals

Cardinals play on prime time this week hosting the division rival Seattle Seahawks alongside offensive lineman Isaiah Adams. I’m Danny Surk. This is Sideline Exchange. Isaiah, as a rookie, you rotated at Reich Guard. Earned a starting role your second year. It’s a small sample size. Three games so far. What have you liked most about your play this year? Kind of competing all the way to the end. Um I’ve I’ve been, you know, obviously proud of how um we’ve been resilient. Obviously, we want to finish games a bit better. So, as a team, um, we want to do that, but individually, I’m just happy that I’m competing till the end and, you know, really getting to wear on guys and I could see the difference between first quarter to the last. This offense was really strong in the run game last year. Been a bit of a slower start. How do you jumpst start the run game, especially not having running back James Connor anymore? Just keep leaning on them. Uh, keep trusting that those four yard runs are going to turn into eights and twelves and, you know, you can’t just kind of throw away your bread and butter, but you know, one eventually it’s going to split one of these days. Yeah, Isaiah, you grew up in Canada, played Canadian College Ball, that led you to Community College in Kansas, which led you to the University of Illinois, which led you to the Cardinals. Mentally, what was the toughest battle for you in such an unconventional way to get into the NFL? Um, I mean, I mean, Garden City, Kansas was probably the toughest just cuz it was like the first time coming to America so far. And, uh, Jo is an experience like not like any other. But, um, I’d say the rookie year was probably, you know, the like the most difficult challenge and I think there’s going to be more challenges to come. So, it’s just, you know, learning what I I learned back then and applying it to now. But, yeah. Yeah. So, in between my rookie year and the first year at Garden City, I don’t know, those are kind of neck and neck right now. That was your first time to America. Yeah. What is a common misconception people have about Canadians? that we like grow up in igloos and like I’m a snowman or something like it would be cold uh one day and everyone’s just like man you can’t be cold you’re from Canada I’m like it’s freezing out here like you can’t tell me I’m not cold so that’s uh I don’t grow up in Ilgaloo it’s a city just like it’s kind of like a New York type of city um and yeah that’s where I grew up so you are a very nice person though that that Canadian trait does fit you well I appreciate it my mom would be happy to hear that for sure Isaiah you got some good looks against defensive tackle Leonard Williams with the Seahawks last year. He he had two good games against the Cardinals. When you’re looking at this Seattle front, what are the biggest challenges they present to you Thursday night? Their mentality, they’re, you know, they’re tough and they’re deep. I just remember, you know, them rotating guys and they were all fresh and talented players. So, you know, making sure you’re bringing it every single play late in the drives when they rotate their defensive tackles. Um, just kind of keeping it fresh and making sure you’re still on your game. Cardinals are rocking their rivalries uniforms Thursday night. those sandstorm colored uniforms. You got the Arizona State flag on the shoulder patch. What’s your favorite part about those rivalries, Unice? O, I’d say definitely the helmets, the red face mask. That’s a little different. And yeah, I like the I like the helmets how like they’re kind of matte matte cream type of thing. So, the helmets are cool and excited to put them on for sure. Might as well look good, play good, feel good. Yeah, that’s the goal, right? That is the goal. Thursday night prime time Cardinal Seahawks from State Farm Stadium. It’s a 5:15 kickoff in the rivalries unis for offensive lineman Isaiah Adams. I’m Danny Sarak. Thanks so much for tuning in. [Music]
