Suits to our loyal loyal franchise channel members and let’s get into it, man. My guy Win Splash is back in the building, man. Welcome back, man. My god. My god. Thanks for having me. It feels like the summer is always too long, but not long enough, right? And now here we are. Like you said, first day of school, Nick’s practice, training camp is open. And I’ll tell you one thing, I I I asked Gershan Yabusle. Obviously, he comes from from Philly, you know, he’s expected to play a key role here in New York. I asked him what the first day of practice was like. He goes, “I’m tired, man.” And that’s cuz of all the running Mike Brown’s got them doing. He was talking about they want to play fast, they want to get up tempo. We got a chance to see what uptempo looks like today. Uh we’re talking about Cat grabbing a rebound, throwing the ball up the floor, and then full sprinting as hard as he could to get a finish on the other end. And then we’re talking about a free throw line uh at the end of practice. And if anybody misses a free throw, the whole team got to run sprints up and down the floor. So, it’s clear conditioning is a priority here. Uh something Jaylen Brunson was talking about on media day, being in as good shape as he can be because he knows Mike Brown is wants to play fast. We’re going to see just how fast this team can be. I think just from what I saw today, Male Bridges is the fastest player on this team. He was the fastest player on this team. He was outpacing everybody. Was he killing him in the sprints? Was he was he killing him? Yeah, he was. It was It was I’m talking about three or four full strides ahead of the next person. he was gone. Maybe he was just in the best shape, but I think if you put all of them in a race, Male’s dusting everybody. Wow. Okay. Okay. So, Male is looking like uh like like like the burner on the team. I I saw Shamut was getting busy in some of those uh those baseline sprints as well, man. Yeah. Listen, this is and this is what Mike Brown wants because I asked him, you know, anybody could say you want to play fast, but I asked Mike Brown, “What exactly does playing fast look like?” Right? Does that look like you getting a rebound and the person who gets the rebound is pushing up the floor? and he goes, “No, the first part to being fast as a team is making sure your wings or whoever it is is running as fast as they can to the corners. Cuz once you once you put pressure on the corners, that forces the middle of the lane to open up. It gives you driving lanes for guys who are getting to the basket. Then the help’s got to come. You get to kick the ball out and and that’s kind of what they want to do. They want to put pressure on the defense as fast as possible. That’s why you’re seeing guys like Landry and OG and all these guys running as hard as they can because they know if they can get down court, number one, they’re going to get an open shot and number two, it’s just going to do so much for the offense in terms of generating looks for other guys. We’re going to see Jaylen get easier looks because everyone’s going to be playing fast and uh I I’m excited. I want to see what this looks like. I know a lot of people wanted to dig into rotations and starting fobs and everyone’s looking into the jerseys and the uniforms they’re wearing. None of the starters have been decided yet. Uh, but I have a sense that if you want to play fast and you know how Josh Hart plays, it’s a match made for the play style. So, we’ll see how training camp pans out, but I’m sure we’re going to get into a lot. How would you how would you compare it to, you know, last year? You you attended training camp last year on the Tibs. How would you compare the two first days? You you know, it’s interesting because last year we were in Charleston, right? So you kind of had the the backdrop of being on that military campus and kind of just what that meant to the guys that that that that city and just that campus means a lot to this franchise. So it was a lot of uh it was a lot there going on, but at the same time it was guys trying to lock in. And on top of that, remember last year training camp comes, Cat gets traded in the middle of camp. You’re still trying to fold in Male Bridges. You’re trying to do all these things. Now you’ve got a group that’s taken that same continuity and building on top of that. Everybody talks about the new additions and yes, you have a team that was dead last in bench scoring last year. Now you get Jordan Clarkson and Yaboole off the bench. That’s going to help you. I think the biggest thing for this Knicks team is you’ve got the same core seven or eight guys, really seven guys from last year’s roster that tasted defeat in the conference finals that are coming back now after a year playing under their belt. Now, you got to get used to the new coaching style, but the chemistry between these players is already there. You can see it in how they’re talking, just the energy in the building. Uh it’s it’s looking like it was it was a really good first day for the Knicks today. Last year Tibs I believe like on on the wall maybe it was either Charleston or back in Tartown he kind of had like 10 focus points. Did Brown have any of that? Did he mention any of that in practice or you know did did he kind of mention his philosophy or his identity for to the team? Yeah, he did. You know I asked him because you know day one it it’s really hard to ask for a coach to tell you okay how many what are the X’s and O’s going to look like right? So I asked him, you know, what’s the cadence? How do you want to roll out? How when do you want to start locking in some of the some of the more in-depth schemes and whatnot? And he goes, you know, today was really just foundational, but he kind of ran through what he meant. So when under Tibs, he had these things called, I guess we call them tent poles, right? Or just how, you know, we we know Tibs wants to, you know, force turnovers, rebound strong, you know, uh, brace the floor out, shoot the three ball. For for Mike Brown, he said, you know, our staples, I’m going to just read the quote from him. Our staples are really important. start with pace and spacing, paint touches, quick decisions, and ball reversals. Those things are extremely important to us. Now, if you want to take it a step further, we’re in our early offense and we have what what we call our automatic. So, they’re trying to get to a point right now that once they see a player, maybe a player on the opposing side just line up in a certain way, they already know what to do just because they’ve run through it so many times. So, to be able to try to figure out, you know, what type of sets they’re going to be able to run and how they’re going to mix and match those rotations. So far, it’s it’s day one. It’s a little early, but today they just went on the foundations. Clearly the foundation number one is pace and space pushing that ball. I think we’re going to see this team get up more three balls. And that was something that we were all I think a little concerned with last year. You’ve got this team full of 40% or better three-point shooters at different times in their career. Why aren’t you getting 40 threes up in the game more often? I think we’re going to see that three ball fly. I think we’re going to see Jordan Clarkson let it fly. He let everybody know he was going to let it fly today. I think you’re going to see a lot of pace. We’re going to see these guys try to get easy opportunities. And the best part about it is you’ve got the pieces already to turn defense into offense. You’ve got Male Bridges. You’ve got OG Anobi. Josh Hart is a fast break to himself. Mitchell Robinson can protect the paint. This is a team and this is what Carl Anthony Town said last year when he when he was asked to define Knicks basketball. He said it’s when we’re turning defense into offense and really getting out there and playing with pace. We’re going to see a lot of that Knicks basketball this year. Yeah, I’m excited to hear that. Now, look, you know, Tibs has always preached that himself. It’s one thing to to to preach it. It’s another thing to actually implement it and do it consistently because that requires as as Mike Brown is showing us a lot of stamina, a lot of physical strength and and uh and uh endurance to be able to do that over an 82 game stretch and and and more. But one thing that I do like, you know, I’ve been preaching since last year that they got to play faster. They have the horses, the pieces that can excel in a much quicker tempo. Mal Bridges, Josh Hart, that is his game, especially off the live rebounds. Deuce. Um, but Clarkson, Clarkson is a guy who you want out there playing uptempo, playing in it with pace, and especially when the defense is not set, that’s when he can get into his bag, and before you know it, he’s sneaking in a jumper over you. Um, but man, I was very impressed with Yaba’s transition numbers last year. That was very impressive. He was in the 94th percentile in transition, points per 100 possessions, a plus 7.5 for Philly last year, 98 percentile in all transition and the 99th percentile off of steals, 88 off rebounds. I mean, Yabel’s transition numbers, you can’t sleep on them. They are excellent last year. Those are some great stats. And then when you also consider, you know, some of these first preseason games are going to be against the Sixers. Now, he said there wasn’t any bad blood. You know, when you have contract negotiations, it’s business. He was, you know, thankful for the Sixers to be in the team that gave him the opportunity. Remember, this is a guy who got drafted by the Celtics and then in year two in the league, they cut him and now it’s over, right? He’s he’s out of the league and then he kind of reemerges on the Olympic stage. Now he gets this deal. So, he’s thankful to Philly, but at the same time, he’s got an opportunity to stick it to him, right? And when you mention all those stats, Mike Brown was talking a little bit about it today, his versatility, the ability to be able to play. He had to slot in at the five when Embiid was out. He had to slide in at the five behind Rudy Gobear for team France, right? And then he’s also naturally a four cuz he’s 6’8 and he looks like he could bench 315 345 lbs. Right. This is a strong stocky guy and you’re telling me that this is the guy who’s sliding in to play really precious awe minutes and you know precious you know you loved him during his time here but he wasn’t really a threat on the offensive side. Gershon’s a guy who can get you 20 on a good night right? So, and we mentioned this earlier, the Knicks bench kind of being able to from last year only averaging 21.7 points. I think it’s just better. It’s more than production. We’re talking about the ability to sustain the way you play over 48 minutes, but you because you can cycle fresh bodies onto the floor. This is what OKC does. This is what Indiana does. This is what Male Bridges said yesterday. He said, “Hey, you know, look, we’re going to be able to continue to play our same style without skipping a beat when me or OG or Josh goes to the bench.” That’s huge. That is a luxury this team did not have. And then on top of that, you’re talking about potentially bringing in Malcolm Brogden as a guy who’s going to be able to sign a rest of the year deal and you didn’t have you were getting outplayed by TJ McConnell in the conference finals. All love to TJ McConnell. Great player. Yeah. Malcolm Brogen is a guy who’s not going to let you lose like that. So, if you’re able to really construct this roster and have that depth, you’re talking about maybe an 11man rotation when we were barely seeing seven or eight last year. Completely different Knicks team. They’re going to be able to play fast all game long. And Yaboo, as you mentioned, is gonna be a guy who who thrives in that in that system, even though he doesn’t when you look at him, you don’t think that he’s going to be a guy that’s going to be able to get up and down the floor, but that’s a guy who’s going to be able to hurt teams from all over the all over the court. Yeah, his his transition numbers were really good with Philadelphia last year. And and I did like that quote from Mike Brown um just and he spoke, you know, quite highly about Yavele and his transition numbers and things of that nature. So, uh going to be very interesting to see. Once again, salute to everybody in the chat. Hit the like button, hit the share button, subscribe to the channel, CP the franchise, Christian Winfield, uh, Nick beat Rider, Nick’s insider for the, uh, New York Daily News. Man, just recapping what was the first day of Nick’s training camp, the first day of Knicks practice. So, you mentioned a couple of, of key players here. Obviously, one of the big training camp storylines is going to be the starting lineup. Now, overreaction Twitter was right at it. We we we we got our detective skills on today when we dropped a picture of the practice uniforms with Mitchell Robinson in the starter blues. Josh Hart in the in the substit in the second unit grays. Everybody was going crazy. They threw the 104 Kofies on. What What did you make of uh of that initial alignment in terms of the starting five? You know, we asked uh Mike Brown about that too and he said, you know, tomorrow you’ll see Mitch in white and Josh in blue and then another day you might not see another guy suit up at all. Right. So, they’re running through different lineups as you expect. And listen, it’s a it’s a decision you have to make. Josh Hart obviously lends himself to being able to play that Mike Brown style, you know, pace, but at the same time, we we saw when Cat wasn’t out there with Mitchell Robinson, and we’ve seen in the past when Cat plays with Rudy Gobear, it works when you put a defensive-minded anchor behind him, right? So, you kind of got to figure that out. But at the same time, this Mike Brown has not shied away from saying that he wants to play fast. and we know the transition leader for this team really is Josh Hart. That’s a guy who’s going to grab a rebound, push it the entire length of the floor, and now you’ve got four guys around him that are sprinting with him. That’s tough. So, I I think we’ll see this kind of unfold. And and also with this, we have to consider Mitch is coming into the season without a contract, right? And he’s up and and next year if he doesn’t have a contract, we see this play out in so many different markets. A guy comes into the season, doesn’t have a contract, you know, that February trade deadline comes up. Now, you don’t know. And the Knicks are a team that are flirting with that second apron right now. how much money can you give Mitchell Robertson in a year from now, right? So, that’s something that has to be on the table as well in terms of thought process. What is Mitch’s future in New York look like? So, these are all things that you have to consider. But, in terms of starting lineups, uh I’m not sure how it shakes out yet. It looks like I mean, you know, just from the thought of things, you know, the way they want to play, Josh Hart seems to be the perfect fit, but if you get to the preseason and now you’re giving up what 125 points per 100 possessions, now it’s a problem. You got to consider that. So, we’ll see it. We’ll see it shake out over camp. Uh, I’m interested to see kind of where maybe who we see wear blue or white tomorrow. Maybe that’s not going to matter, but I know everybody’s going to want to see it. So, we’ll we’ll have to How did Hart what what kind of uh device did Hart have on his hand? Did you take a look at the hand? What was it looking like yesterday? It was looking crazy. We were pretty Yeah, we were on the other side of the court, but you know, Mike Brown said he practiced and he played with the normal Josh Hart intensity that you expect. Josh is a guy who I mean that’s a guy who we saw play through and like it took a real serious abdomen injury to get him out of the playoffs a couple seasons ago and then last year he’s playing through different nicks and knacks. Like this is a guy who’s going to suit up and play through everything. He remember everybody had their uh had their lock screens with his bloody eye coming through and he’s still playing. Like this is a guy who who’s just going to run through a wall for his team. So I’m not really worried. But we have to see what the jump shot looks like. this is a shooting hand and uh we kind of got to see, you know, this is a guy who plays, you know, he’s running into folks and he’s got he’s going to have to be cautious cuz if he aggravates this in the middle of the season now, you could have a problem. So, it’s something that we’ll monitor, but as of today, day one, according to Mike Brown, Josh looks just like Josh, which is loaded up on Mike and Nikes and ready to run through a wall. Yeah, I you know, I’m leaning towards Mitch. That’s always been been my go-to carrying over from last year. I just I I just think the pathway to a championship, especially defensively, is with him having a major role in it. But overall, just over the course of this 82 game season, I think we’re going to see we’ll we’ll see the Twin Tower units. We’ll see the Towns at the five. I would advocate for them not to play Mitchell Robinson in the second night of a backto-back. So on those nights, I’m definitely going with Towns at the five. I’m sliding Huck Py out there. I’m sliding Yellier in there to back up. You know, I want to see Deuce out there. Obviously, we know offensively. Deuce out there with them going small provides a lot of benefits offensively, especially if they want to play fast and get shots up in transition. I want to see all of that because you just never know what matchup you’re going to be needing, especially in the in the postseason. So, where Tibs leaned on the original five heavily last year, I’d like to see Brown mix and match, especially early preseason, you know, those first 20 games. Let’s see some different combinations with the rotations to see who’s jelling, who can fit with each other, and who can provide that balance on both ends of the floor. you you know I think there’s a fundamental difference between uh Tom Tibido and Mike Brown and we really saw it last year when Jaylen Brunson and Campaign and Deuce McBride all went out of the lineup at the same time. They all got hurt and you saw uh Dylon Wright step up and you saw uh really Tyler Koh step up but really you hadn’t seen Don Wright up until that point step up and and show you that he deserved to play minutes and he stepped up and the team was able to stay afloat until his guys come back and then even though this team was desperate for more bodies on the floor, Tib sends Delon right back to the bench, right? versus when you look at Mike Brown in Sacramento and guys go down and he turns to Keon Ellis who’s on a two-way deal and now Keon Ellis is a pretty much a household name in Sacramento because he’s been able to play himself into that type of of impact player on the court. Mike Brown is going to trust some of these young guys. He’s going to instill confidence in them and he’s not going to be scared to play them, right? I don’t think we’re going to be in a position where the Knicks are up 25 with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter and Jaylen Brunson still on the floor, right? I I don’t think we’re going to see that. I think we’re going to see times where Mike Brown is leaning on the young guys. I think we’re going to see times where, you know, it might be a tight game and he might turn to a young guy and say, “Hey, your opportunity is now. We need to give this guy some rest.” Right? So, I I think that’s one big thing we’re going to see. And, you know, and it’s tough, right? Because if you give Tibs, Jordan Clarkson, and Gershon Yabusell, those guys are on the floor and now you’ve got a nineman rotation, right? But we’re talking specifically about some of these young guys at the end of the bench who really couldn’t get any minutes even in blowouts. I I I think not only are they going to get minutes, but Mike Brown is a guy who’s going to, you know, breathe confidence into them. And that’s what this team needs because you never know. You could have 10 men, you know, right up until March and then March, you know, 8th comes around and three guys go down and you haven’t played any of rookies, so none of them have any confidence to get on the floor and now you’re losing games. I don’t think we’re going to see that. I think you’re going to see Mike Brown come in and really try to get these young guys on the same page and that’s going to be a world of difference because injuries happen to every team. They’re unavoidable and if your guys are ready to step up, you can you can weather that storm. You have Brockton, you have Shamut in there. They’re part of the the the last roster spot um battle. We saw Shamut looked like he was on the burgundy team. You had the green team which looked like some of the younger players, the younger training camp invites. And then you had Brockton. He he was in, you know, some some nondescript joint. They they didn’t even put a name on his on his on his jersey, man. But but how were those guys looking in camp today? Yeah, listen, we didn’t uh we didn’t get to see much of of those guys. We caught the end of practice today. Uh which really everybody getting I will say everybody looked like they were running. Everybody looked healthy. You know, there would there was nobody aside from Josh’s finger, no one looked like they were nursing any injuries or anything like that. Everybody was out there sprinting. Uh and I think it’s really interesting. You’ve got this battle where clearly Landry after what he did last year and and this is him coming back from a dislocated shoulder being part of the team not being in the rotation until the season’s on the line and then stepping up when his number is called with the with the season on the line. You can’t discount that and his impact. And then you’ve got Malcolm Brogden who former rookie of the year. This is a guy who’s a battle tested proven floor general and you need that behind Jaylen but obviously injuries have kind of been the theme of his career, right? So, do do you take a flyer on a guy who hasn’t been able to stay healthy? Remember last year Landry got hurt in camp, but they said get healthy and come back. So, how does that work? But if you’re telling me you’re getting a healthy Malcolm Brogden and a healthy Landry Shamid after you already added Clarkson and Yabusle, you’re talking about 11 guys that you can turn to on any given day. Max those match those mix those lineups up and now you can really play your style of basketball for 48 minutes. I think that’s the biggest thing right now because all these teams, especially after OKC and Indiana and the way they got to the finals, it’s really an arms race right now for depth, right? And if you have that depth, you can really withstand an 82 game season and then four rounds of the playoffs. So, you know, I think they’re going to be key parts. We’ll see how the how the roster shakes out in terms of guarantees. We know if they’re going to sign both of them, somebody’s got to go and that’s probably one of the rookies that’s at the end of the rotation. Yeah. So, it it’s going to be tough, but those are guys where if this is this is the Knicks, the Knicks have a one-year window in my book cuz everybody’s hurt. Next year, you’re going to have Tatum coming back, Hallebertton coming back, the field is going to get crowded again. Right now, if you had to ask me to make a bet, I don’t I don’t believe in Cleveland like that after what I’ve seen from the last year. Orlando’s too fresh. Atlanta, it would be crazy and poetic if Atlanta comes in and ruins ruins the championship vibes for this team, but I don’t I don’t see that. and and Milwaukee. You got to show me, you can’t bet against Giannis, but you got to show me that that point guard position can do something. Right now, the Knicks have the best chance to win a title that they’ve had in at least a quarter century. Yeah. So, if you’re telling me it comes down to a rookie who’s not going to play much or Malcolm Brogden and Landry Shamut at the end of this rotation, I think we all know what the answer to that question is. Well, for me, if it’s Kohlick, I’m going with it. I I just have a hard time with the with the Dier thing just given the fact that they don’t have much promising youth to to like lean on like all right if if if one of these guys is ineffective and we got to make a move like we got somebody in the stable you know like I I like accumulating picks and developing they they just hired the Billy Lang to to run the whole program so let me see get pushed through the program see how he go we need a we we have a wing factor factory butting here. We got the Aara, his countryman, going in. We got Dink Pate coming up in Westchester. Like, I want to see what that looks like. These are very, very young players, man. Like, with potential. Yeah. I was of the belief last season that even if Dier needed to, you know, go through his growing pains. He should have been doing that in garbage time with the regular Knicks roster and not really spending a lot of his time in Westchester, right? Granted, those Westchester numbers weren’t that great. Granted, he probably struggled in a lot of those games. don’t know what’s going on, you know, in practice and behind the scenes or whatever, but you want a guy to develop at the NBA level in case some of your wings go down so you can turn to him, right? And I think I have I have no doubt that Mike Brown is a guy who’s going to put them on the floor and force them to learn on the fly. And that’s the kind of coach you need, right? Especially when you don’t have the money to be able to go and sign some of these guys in those spots. That’s where the Knicks are right now. You’ve got to develop your young players, right? It’s been far too long for this team to have not been able to draft and develop and keep some of their guys. Now you’ve got, as you call it, a wing factory. I I want to see what it all looks like. I want to see some of these young guys take a next step. I want to see what what Kevin McCull and some of these other guys are going to be able to do on this team. So, I don’t have any any doubt that Mike Brown’s going to put them out there. Now, we have to see if these guys are ready to match the moment, right? What have you been doing all summer? Are you ready? Cuz your opportunity is your opportunity wasn’t coming under the tapes. We all knew that. Your opportunity is coming right now. What are you going to do with it? CB the franchise. Christianfield Nick’s insider for the daily news. Suits everybody in the chat. Hit the like button, hit the share button, subscribe to the channel. If you are a franchise channel member in the chat, throw your ones in the chat, man. So to our loyal franchise channel members. So for always uh being in here and supporting us. We we definitely appreciate you guys. And speaking of channel members, I I see somebody sent us some love. Shout out to our guy LD. He says, “Championship run begins. #move the rock Nicks.” Okay. So, LD, he’s he’s a staunch critic. You know, he’s he’s he’s one of my fiercest opponents, uh, Chris, during the regular season, man. He he he always calls in to challenge me on things. So, uh, you know, I think he’s creeping in the shadows. We haven’t heard from him in a little while. He he’s just waiting for the regular season to kick off and then, you know, this as soon as something goes bad, he’ll be complaining about something. Russell Whiskey, shout out to Russell. Shout out to Russell. He says, “Uh, salute to CP and the chat and salute to Chris as well, man.” Okay. Appreciate you. Yeah, man. All right. I want to play I want to play one or two sound bites from the from the Clarkson um presser. I gota I gotta grab my uh my computer charger. So, what I’m going to do is I’m going to bring in my guy Yuri from the Discord and I’m I’m have I’m going to have you take over the show for a hot second, Chris. You and Yuri can go back and forth and I’ll be right there. Yuri, go ahead. You’re on the line. Are you there? Yep. Yep. I’m here. I’m here. Okay. You and Chris are on the line, man. Go ahead, man. What’s going on, Yuri? How you feeling? I’m excited for the season, man. Media day, quante, whatever the bloody it’s called. I don’t really care. I was just happy to see the guys back in the gym again. I I think the thing that Knicks fans should be most excited about right now. Uh and granted, there are all good things happen when Jaylen Brunson had the ball in his hands, right? This is a guy who, you know, put the Knicks on his back for different stretches at a time and was able to really power this team to back-to-back 50 win seasons, really get this team to the Eastern Conference Finals. Uh but the one of the under one of the themes of training camp and media day so far has been that ball is gonna move, right? That ball is gonna move. And on top of that, now you’re creating easier looks for Jaylen, right? Cat said, “Hey, we can kind of use Jaylen how the Warriors used Steph Curry and that he’s getting off the ball, then relocating, relocating, getting the ball back again, and shooting a cleaner shot.” Because remember, as as great as Jaylen was last season, he had to work hard for his shots. He had to take punishment. He had to, you know what I’m saying? We we talk about the dribble time and the time of possession. And these are all, you know, he led the he led the league in touchtime and in dribbles per touch and all that stuff, but he had to do that so he can get a clean shot because he was the offense. Now you’re talking about him getting off the ball, running through. And I mentioned this earlier, I always talk about it when Jaylen was out of the rotation, when campaign, when Deuce were all out the rotation, that ball was moving around. You saw Male, OG, Cat, all of them go off for signature offensive performances. You’re moving the ball off from Jaylen. That doesn’t mean his production is going to go down. It just means how he gets his shots is going to change. And on top of that, other guys are going to touch the ball. They’re going to be able to feel like they’re involved in the offense. I think that’s the biggest thing. That and Mike Brown, the way he was talking about using Cat more in terms of not just having him in one side of like, and we talked to Tip about this last year, just the the vanilla ways they were using Cat, it became predictable, right? And the way Mike Brown was talking today, he goes, “The last thing they want to be is predictable.” He’s like, “We’re not always going to have Cat trailing for the for the three. We’re going to have him sprinting in transition trying to get that finish. We’re going to put him on the elbow making plays for other people.” Cat’s a great passer, right? Some of his passes are a little crazy, right? You know, I call a spade a spade. Sometimes he’s throwing a over the head pass and that joint sailing over the next guy’s head, but Cat’s a gifted passer. And now Mike Brown is going to put him in different spots on the floor, both to playmaker and shoot. So, so many reasons to be excited about this team, but I think we’re going to see a different brand of offense this year. And uh at the end of the day, Mike Brown said this too, the ball’s going to be in Jaylen Brun’s hands and he’s going to be able to do what he does best, and that’s win ball. As he should be. As it should be. As it should be. And my take on this whole thing is is that the team looked more united when we were looking into the practice as well. They were cheering on for making free throws that they didn’t have to sprint down, you know, and I remember clearly free throws were a big aspect in why the Knicks lost certain key games. Yeah, that’s fair. You know, that’s fair. Whether it was fatigue, whether if it was tired legs, you know, fine, whatever. I really don’t care. But those free throws cost us a lot of games that we should have won. I think that’s something very important to highlight. And you also had the report earlier in the year when Tips got fired about not doing practice. Now, I’ll take with that report what you will. I don’t really buy it, but if I but if it came from Ian Begley, I certainly do believe it. That’s the first thing. Second thing is that ball movement. It’s been talked about all of last season under Tom Tibble. Like they used to do it in the first half of the season, then all of a sudden when Jaylen Brunson dribbled dribbled dribble and Chris, I agree. Jaylen Brunson literally carried us to the finals. Let’s not sugar coat it as much people don’t like to admit it. Brunson carried us to the finals. ISO ball got us to the finals, but it did get get us to the NBA championship. And that’s why Tibs got rid of now. Reports about Tom Tib getting being rid of. We all talked about it in the last few months. We’re just going to go. But that’s then, this is now. Mike Brown, we all heard it in a training camp. Push, push. You got to push push. Yeah. Yeah. That that was from Chris, man. That that was from Chris. hoping we would get a turn on them Jets moment, but it’ll come. It’ll come. I’m going to ask him about that tomorrow. Yeah, man. Yuri, appreciate the call, man. Shout shout out to Yuri. Uh, so I guess he he was uh he was talking about, you know, just getting Brunson more involved in the offense and the offball situation that that Mike Brown was speaking on, right? Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So, u Yeah. No, I think we’re going to just see a totally different maybe not totally different because we still have to see this team kind of implement some of this stuff. Uh but just in terms of pace, in terms of uh moving the ball, spacing, I think we’re gonna see them shoot more threes as we talked about earlier. I think just Cat was just underutilized. That’s the only way way I can put it. Either underutilized or misutilized, but he the way he played was like he averaged 24.4 and 12.8 or whatever it was, but it didn’t really feel like a like a like he was being used to his his maximum abilities. I think we’re going to see him take another step this year for sure. That is true. And at uh at the podium today, we had the newest Nick, one of the newest Nicks, one of the two newest Nicks, Jordan Clarkson, meeting with the media today. Just gonna play a couple couple of um sound bites and and just want to overall just get your your thoughts on Clarkson. Obviously, you ask a couple questions of Clarkson as well. So, here was uh Jordan Clarkson on why he chose to come to the Knicks. Two sound bites that I’m going to play on that note. Here we go. Why why you here? Um I mean the team is uh you know really good um they’re playing for something. Um these guys I watched a lot uh during the playoffs and um during the year um just felt comfortable in this space uh Josh being here and um you know having conversations with those dudes during that time and I just wanted to be here. All right that was I believe that might have been Trilogy. It might have been James Edwards or or Bondi. And this was Be I asked that question. Oh, that was you. That was you that asked that. Okay. Okay. And then this was uh a followup from Ian I believe in terms of the um if he had competition to come here and you know ultimately more on his decision. Here we go. I said just the comfortability I had here, uh, seeing those guys play, Josh, uh, Jaylen, um, Cat, just watching them, uh, throughout the playoff series and, um, you know, just just made me want to come here. Um, and that was, you know, my top of the list when I they said, yo, when I you got opportunity to come to the Knicks, I was full go. It was no listening, nothing else. All right, man. Well, what you think about the Clarks impressor? So, what were your overall impressions of Jordan Clarkson? Man, this is a man who won 17 games last year and has been relegated to the bottom of the Western Conference for the last three seasons. And now he gets to play now he gets to play for a 50 plus win team with championship expectations. The same goes for Yaboole once uh I mean we all knew that Paul George and Joel Embiid were going to miss a combined 80 plus games this year, right? like we knew we knew that was going to happen and the Sixers were terrible and and Gershon Yabuselli said, “Hey, you know, it feels good to actually be able to play for something, play meaningful games again.” So, I think number one, these guys are just happy and invigorated to be part of what the Knicks are are doing right now. But from a fit standpoint, Jordan Clarkson, you know, this is a guy who had more 20 point games himself last year than the Knicks bench had uh combined, right? This is a guy who’s led who’s scored more bench points over the last five years than anybody else. and he started one of those years. You know what I’m saying? Like this is a professional scorer and when you talk to Mike Brown about him, he’s saying, “Yo, don’t forget Jordan Clarkson averages more than two assists. That means he’s somebody who can go out there and yeah, he can score, but he knows how to play the right way.” So, uh, that’s something that not Jordan Clarkson’s funny. He goes, “Yo, these guys know towards the end of the year, you know, if you throw me the ball, I’m shooting that thing.” Yeah. But to start the season, he’s he’s trying to just figure out how he fits in. I think his role is going to be really apparent right right now. Especially if you’re talking about Brockton coming in and being that second unit, floor general. They need Jordan Carlson to go out there and score the ball. That’s that’s that’s all it is, right? Go create for yourself and then when the help comes, create for somebody else and he’s going to be able to do that. But he mentioned it today. Defensively is somewhere he’s got to pick up, especially communication. So, we got to watch out for him on that front. Definitely has to pick up defensively. Look, he he kept it a bean. If it’s coming to him, you you don’t got to tell him to shoot. And he’s gonna have some nights, like I tell Dick Nation, he’s gonna have some we don’t need that nights. I’m already preparing for it. I I get my heart medicine, you know, my my cardiac uh uh conditioning up. I’m in the I’m in the gym. I’m on the treadmill. But um you know, that just comes with the territory of of uh of having a guy like a Jordan Clarkson on the team, but given where this team is trying to go and the circumstances in which they got him, I’m cool with it. Like he was a guy like Nick Sans I tell you he was a guy Nick fans be like man should we should trade for Clarkson every year to trade deadline I’m like I’m not giving up anything for him but you know to get him on a vet min in the way that you got him it’s good for the it’s good value for for the pick for the it’s crazy right like imagine you finding out you’re able to get a 16 point per game score for pretty much free right that’s why it’s obviously two two plus million dollars is not free but by NBA standards Jordan Clarkson if he was an unrestricted free agent he can go out there and get 15 maybe 20 mil from the right team if they need him. So to be able to get that kind of value on the deal, you’re not going to be able to find that. So and then on top of that, this is just a guy who’s proven you get him the ball and you clear out and these are more like we saw a campaign last year, love campaign, everything he brought to the team, but the shot selection sometimes was was was crazy, right? And he’s the first person to say it. Jordan Clarkson, you kind of live with some of that shot selection because he’s a guy who can go get you 25. So I I’m excited. this is a this is a a move the team needed to make in terms of just how you address that bench scoring and he seems like a good fit. He had u he has connections with all these guys. He said Kevin McCuller Junior’s dad was his middle school coach which is crazy. I’m like what? It’s crazy how you know the basketball world is big but when it gets to their levels very small. So uh yeah he did mention that he obviously he played with heart with the Lakers. He he said him and Cap and Cap said this at the roommate show that that Cap was kind of recruiting him and and at the World Cup he mentioned to Cap like, “Yo, I’m available. Get me out of Utah. Please, please get me out of here.” He said that today, too. And it’s just like, man, that’s how that goes to tell you go these guys are talking all off season. These guys are going to try to line, but obviously the money part of it was going to be where the hiccup was. Being able to get him on a minimum, man, that’s like that’s like robbery. You able to get him for that low. It’s crazy for for sure. So, uh, that was Clarkson’s meeting with the, uh, with the media. This was after practice, correct? After. Yes. All right. This was after practice. Okay. So, now here was Yabulele. There’s one quick one on Yabusle and his meeting here. Yabusle, as we know, uh, played for France in the Euro basket. So, he was very busy all summer. He had a busy summer and unfortunate loss. I forgot who’ they lose to who they lose to Georgia. They lost to somebody untimely exit in Euro Basket. But Yavelli was the captain of France and here he was on on his decision to uh to join the team. Here we go. I just like it the the team the the spirit that they had on the court. The way they was playing tough every possession. Um they was it was really playing together. Uh you can’t really tell they was really bonding together and they had a goal together. So I liked it. And you know they they just fight on the court. You know they give everything up. There are certain things you saying Jordan has became a situation where it’s struggling to win. You come to a team now that is championship contending people like the difference in that for you just the excitement of that. Oh yeah, for sure. Um what they did last year was uh awesome you know so everybody get to watch it. Um I was really watching the series especially against the Indiana you know I really think they give it everything out there and it was really fun to watch. Um, so for sure, um, this play too, you know, um, coming in here, um, I’m just telling myself, you know, I’m just trying to give my best on the court, try to help the the team win as much as game as possible, you know, take it step by step, day by day. So, what were your what were your impressions of uh, Gershan Yamoselli, man? you you know this is the him and Jordan Clarkson both said something interesting and I’m only picking it up now when you’re running this back through that their first thought about why they came to the Knicks you know they they really liked what you’re building here right and and part of that is because you’ve got guys that went to college together that are kind of the nucleus of this team that are kind of being able to really set the vibes and the tone for this team and I think that that speaks volumes in terms of of Yabule just a guy who you know we asked him what what role he prefers to play whether he’s going to be at the five or the four or how he sees himself self fitting and he’s just like, “Yo, whatever Mike Brown wants me to do, I’m going to go out there and do it. I know I can shoot the three. I know what I can do.” But it’s really about helping this team get to the next level. And like I mentioned earlier, you’re slotting him in right where you were trying to play Precious and those minutes weren’t going according to plan. Now you have an offensive threat, a versatile, you know, defender, a guy who can shift up and down and a guy who plays at, you know, under pressure. This is a guy who played really well for for France on the biggest stage of the mall, right? So, I I think just in terms of building this roster, what the Knicks were able to do, this is your best team in the last 25 years. Let’s let’s see where where you can end up. Let’s see if you can run the table. Yeah. And it it was announced today that Precious is going back to the Miami Heat, the team that drafted him. So, Precious Aua is moving taking his talents to South Beach. But as you said, with the acquisition of Yaboselli, you you get an immediate upgrade, especially on the offensive side, a bit more versatile in that Yaboselli can play the four and the five where Precious was more more in the three on the four side of things. But, you know, Yabiselli’s three-point shot that that’s what they got him here for, a 40% three-point shooter and above a good above the break three-point shooter that they didn’t really have across the roster like that. So, he gives him a bit more versatility on the perimeter. He gives you more firepower again like you can play him with Towns, you can have him sub in for Towns. So, there’s different combinations of um of players that he can play with. His pick and pop was also very good in the league. So, you know, playing off of Brunson, playing off of maybe a Brogden, maybe a Clarkson, and again in transition, we we talked about his transition numbers coming into the show. they were at the top of the league, one of the best in the league in transition play. So, I I think he’s going to help this team in a lot of ways. Man, you know, it’s one of those things where it’s like you have to just look at the top 11 players if we’re projecting that Brogden and Shamid make this rotation. 10 of them are are knockown three-point shooters, right? We’re talking about the only one that’s really not a knockdown three-point shooter being Mitchell Robinson and everybody else. Josh Hart’s got seasons where he shot 39 38%. Everybody else is consistently in that 35 and up area and now you’re talking about playing fast and you’re talking about adding Yabule who’s a guy who can space the floor out from the five and all this. Like we’re we’re going to see some modernday Knicks basketball. I think I think kind of last year, the last few years, we kind of seen them grind the ball into into a standstill really. It wasn’t really we’ll call it aesthetically pleasing offense, right? It was just, you know, let’s dribble, drive, kick it out, and let Jaylen go to work. Now, you’re going to see, I think you’re going to see something close to maybe what the Warriors run, right? Something close to moving that ball around. Everybody ball movement and player movement, turning defense into offense. Yabusell is going to be a big part of that. But this is a team to, you know, and I try not to get fans overly excited or overly optimistic because anything can go wrong at any time and now you’re back at square one. But if I’m a Knicks fan, I’m more excited about this team than I’ve been of any Knicks team uh since we last won a title, right? Or last got to the NBA finals. And uh they’ve got a chance. It just be it really boils down to now playoffs matchups and can you compete with OKC? Because I don’t think anybody’s got anything for OKC out west. I think it could end up being them going back to the finals. Yeah, good points. Good points there. He he gave him that nickname on his first show. Yeah, it is. Bondie and Papa are representing a beat out there. Okay. Well, You know, we’ll be watching either way, man. All right, man. Let’s uh let’s get to the phones. We’ll wrap up with these we these two callers. Let’s go to LD. LD called in. LD on the Discord. My boy, my boy CP, you good? Yeah, good, man. Thank God, man. How you doing? Good. But thank God. I just want to say I appreciate this question, dude. I appreciate it. Yeah, man. Cuz everything that he said is exactly what I was saying last year and the year before. You know, I know you mentioned that I give you push back. Yeah. The push back I’ve always consistently given you is just praising Leon Rose for the roster he’s always given Tom Tibido that kept getting brushed under the rug and excuses to defend Tom Tibido’s sevenman rotation. Obi Toppin was not that bad as you can see. Quinton Grimes was not that bad. Hartinstein was amazing. A lot of these players that have come through the Knicks organization and passionate even precious aua is not that bad. We got Rose has consistently since he’s got here giving us amazing enough rosters to at least go nine players. You know what I’m saying? And everything that he’s said so far about what Mike Brown’s vision is when he mentioned the dribbles per touch that Jaylen Brunson has led the league for the last how many years. You know, all I’ve always been saying is, you know, that’s if if we’re looking at it from the championship level, we know that cannot give us the results that we need. But Leon Rose has consistently given us rosters to at least perform. Now, I do got a question for uh Kristen though about Le um about Jaylen Brunson playing a little bit more off ball. Okay, I watched the I don’t know if you watched Team USA, the FIFA championship where he was on the roster. Um okay, he was forced to play off ball a little bit because they had um Anthony Edwards and other players who were going to handle the rock and Steve Kerr didn’t necessarily need him to be on ball that much. He wasn’t too productive off ball. I don’t know if it’s because he was too small to play the a shooting guard style of play. So, what kind of what kind of role do you think Mike Brown is looking for him to play? Is it kind of a Steve Nash distributor or like what’s what’s the goal? I I don’t know if it’ll be a Steve Nash distributor type of situation. Uh because Steve Nash also had the I think when I think of Steve Nash, I think of him driving into the paint, then curling around the rim, coming right back out. He still got his dribble and now he’s either pulling up for the midi or getting somebody else. But I don’t know that we’re going to see, you know, and and granted some of these possessions Jaylen’s going to have the ball and do what he does best, which is create a way to score. But I I think, you know, the way I keep thinking about what Cat said, right? Cat said, yo, if you look at how the Warriors use Steph Curry, and Steph is a guy where you need him to put the ball on the floor, he’s going to be able to do it. But for the most part, he’s getting off the ball. He’s running around screens. And that’s one of the reasons why Jaylen is trying to get in as good a shape as ever cuz he’s going to be moving around. He’s going to be leaking out in transition. He’s going to be, you know, maybe he’ll be spacing the floor. I I think Tom Tibido and not Tom Tibido. I think Mike Brown is going to put Jaylen and Cat and really all these guys just in different spaces on the floor that we didn’t really see them uh last year. What that looks like right now, I don’t know. You make a good point about Team USA because, you know, I I had to cover that series from the couch and Tyrese Hallebert now played Jaylen in that in in those Feb games, right? We saw kind of that. Even what’s um Austin Reeves, he had a better series. It’s not because he’s better obviously, but it’s just the play style that Steve Kerr wanted to run, which is more ball movement and only kind of having Anthony Edwards on ball more than anybody else kind of left Brunson, you know, lost in space a little bit more than when we see him on the mix. Yeah, that’s that’s fair. That’s fair. But that remember that’s just a small sample size. Now you have a training camp a whole year to kind of figure out where you’re gonna get your shots. So I think it’ll be a and remember they spoke about this a little bit. We heard Jaylen saying, “Hey, yeah, I need to get off the ball more.” But in reality, you’re already kind of in the playoff trying to make a push. You can’t change your play style now. Now you’ve got a whole offseason, a training camp to kind of try to work some of these adjustments and I think it’ll be fun. Yeah. And and and I would say like yes, I I agree in that, you know, in the in the World Cup, it wasn’t his finest performance, but that that’s also him playing alongside stars who, you know, deserve the usage that they’re going to get, right? And that they’re going to do something with it that that you can trust. I think with where where Brown is concerned, I don’t see his usage dropping in that regard. I just think it’s getting him the ball in spots where it’s not him dribbling to to get that right. Like it’s just more efficient way to get him productive and and to me that should be playing off a cat more, right? That should be more twoman game with Carl Anthony Towns. I agree. And to to kind of uh before I go, I want to say because I know the conversation is Josh Hart or or Mitch. I’m gonna close out by saying this. Kevon Looney is a three-time champion playing with the Warriors. Uh Jal McGee is a three-time champion twice with the Warriors and once with the Lakers. No one can convince me that they are either better or that much better than Mitch. Right. Mitch in the last five years played in a system that ranked dead last in pick and roll for the role man. I mean if the if the argument is that he doesn’t have an offensive game, neither does McGee really. Neither did Tyson Chandler really. Neither did DeAndre uh what’s his name? Jordan. Neither did Kavon Looney. All these dudes are champions and all their coaches needed to do was just figure out how to use them in space which I I believe Mike Brown knows how to do. and we will see Mitch shine more than he’s ever shined because all of Mitch’s offense has come off his hard work on that offensive glass. So, I’m looking forward to Mitch shining and as he said going 10 9 11 rotation, we’ve got the squad. Thanks to Leon Rose, thanks to the Knicks. As he said, this is the most excited I’ve been. So, you’re not going to hear me complain too much because my complaints my complaints were about us underutilizing our skill set. So, you know, that’s all you got for me. I’m holl at y L on the chat. Rate that call in the chat. LD makes his return. Hey, you made some good points. They made some really good points. And listen, Nicks fans should be excited. You’ve got this is this is your time right now. This is your window wide open right now. You’ve got the green light. You’ve got the roster. You’ve got the leader. I There’s nothing that The arguments that Jaylen Brunson can’t be a championship level point guard, those went out the window. You know what I’m saying? like this is a guy who you can win with and you gave him so much help and the field is open. If I’m a Knicks fan, that that looks like a championship to me. So, we’ll see. We will see. Next. Truly exciting times, man. Shout out to Charles Rainey, franchise channel member as well, Fight Super Chat and the leader of the uh the chat on the on the leaderboard, man. Charles Rainey is killing the chat right now. Uh says, “Solute salute to KFTV family. How nice was it to hear Coach Brown break down the offense versus the game tells you what to do? Health. Let’s go. Remember, I’m the one who asked him that question. I asked him, you know what I’m saying, how do you plan to install your offense? And I wasn’t expecting him. I was thinking he would say, you know, today we’ll do this, tomorrow we’ll do this, by Friday we’ll do this. He open book tells me all everything he’s trying to install today, why he’s trying to install it. And I’m like, man, this is like real insight into what type of team we’re going to see. And the fact that, hey, look, it might not be pretty out the gate, right? Like, they’ve got to figure all these things out. They want to be able to not have to rely on sets. Like, kind of how you hear guys talking about read and react based on what the defense is doing. That’s where they want to get to, right? And if I’m a if I’m a fan or if I’m just a reporter and we’re talking about modern-day offenses, that’s that’s music to my ears because I want to watch good basketball. Good basketball is not predictable. good basketball. Anyone on any given night can can can have their night, right? So, that’s what it sounds like it’s going to be for this Knicks team. And that’s just such a stark contrast from the offense we’ve seen them run over the last few years, which is really just a lot of ISO heavy dribbling and driving kick and somebody get open for a three and then, oh, the three is not open. Let’s get it back to Jaylen. 8 seconds on the clock. Yeah, I think we’re going to see a lot of a different type of offense. I’m looking forward to it. Shout out to Shout out to Isaiah, man. Welcome to the franchise channel members. Isaiah is joining the squad, man. Shout out to my guy Julio. He’s he’s listed in the chat as Julio in parenthesis KFTV watch party gang. Shout out to Julio. So, he put his name out there so I know exactly who that is because Julio literally he only missed one of of the Knicks playoff games. I remember it vividly because he’s at every watch party. Julio, you get to the watch party, Julio’s at the bar. He’s already getting involved. He’s already making himself at home. That’s our guy, Julio, man. So, shout out to Julio, man. He is a watch party veteran and he’ll be there on the uh on the 22nd when the Knicks open up the season against the Cleveland Cavaliers, man. Shout out. Shout out to Julio, man. Shout shout out Julio. Sound like a good dude. Yeah, man. Let’s go to the closer of the night. Let’s go to Rambo from Tampa. Rambo, how you feeling from Tampa? You already know. I’m trying to get ramped up, you know, first day of training camp. So, I got to I got to, you know, I got to get back, right, CP? Shout out to you, Chris. You know, I’m You already know I’m hiding in the car right now. You know, I got to um I got to get back I got to get back into season form right now. But I’m I’m I’m doing amazing right now. Why you hiding in the car, bro? Please explain what’s going on. Listen, Chris. Chris, because it’s too soon to hit the lady with, you know, the hey, you know, it’s too soon to put the lady on pause and let her know KFTV is taking priority. Okay, we we it’s only training day. All right, it’s only first day of training day, but I got to get in. All right, breaking up households is crazy. No, no, no, no, no. We we we don’t we don’t condone breaking up households. We try to Okay, okay, okay, okay. You’re right. You’re right. You’re right. We try to spray from them. CP just got engaged this summer, man. You know, so few weeks before few weeks before, you know, before preseason kickoff, fellas, what are you doing? The weather’s getting cold. Are you checking tires? Are you filling gas tanks right now? Are you getting just because flowers? If you’re not, it’s the time to do it right now. Take the garbage out on time, man. Don’t don’t don’t let the garbage be late, man. Wash the dishes. He doesn’t have to tell you. Come on. I don’t got no problems, thankfully. I’m uh I’m chilling right now. I’m looking forward to one day having those problems, though. Chris representing the the Red Pill Army. He said, “Nah, we ain’t got that type of part that type of issues over here.” Chill chill chill chill. Hey, listen. Chris, you you are an important component to all of this. You are an inside man. This is why we needed to check in with you. I’m not going to lie, I was so excited to hear from you today and just all the insights you had. You know, you’re breaking down the offense with what with the emphasizing and all that and and it’s like it’s so imaginative. It’s I can see the offense. It’s going to be so creative. But truthfully to be told, while I have you here on the line, I wanted to ask you, right? Because I always felt like we had the right players in place to be a better defensive team. And Tibs really handcuffed us playing a lot of drop coverage and and a lot of, you know, old school defense. Was there any type of emphasis on defense today or is it just the first day and we’re getting too excited? I I don’t want to bash tips crazy. You got to remember Mitchell Robinson missed so much of last season. Then you had to work him in. That’s a big part of your defense, especially when you’re trading for Cat. Yeah. Right. We’ve seen what the successes look like with Cat. You got to have that anchor behind him. You didn’t have that. So, and then you saw once Mitch came back, the the defense was top 10 basically the second half of the season, right? So, that being said, there is an emphasis on playing an aggressive and physical style of defense, right? And you hear that, you’re a Knicks fan, your your ears should perk because that’s the type of defense that gave you the most trouble last year. these teams that muck the games up. I think we’re going to see the Knicks kind of really try to force and remember last year you saw OG Josh and Male out there forcing turnovers like it’s nothing in the in the in the playoffs. You’re seeing male get stops, OG get stops on Tatum and all these guys. You know, the ability to get stops is there. Now, it’s just a matter of can you be bring that aggression? Can you bring that physicality? Those are things that the players are saying they want to bring on the defensive end. So, I think we’re going to see an improved and new look team on both sides of the floor. I’m still curious to see what it looks like, how much Mitch is going to be out there with the starting unit with the bench, what those combinations are going to be like because we saw what happens when Cat’s the only big out there. Unless you’re changing the schemes, you know, something’s got to give. So, we’ll see how these things shake out through training camp and preseason, but from from so far, these guys are talking about playing physical, aggressive defense, getting out, turning that defense into offense, and then playing fast and free. And if I’m a Knicks fan, that’s music to my ears because that’s not a lot of what we saw last year. facts. No, facts. And and and just clarify, I’m not a Tips hater. I wasn’t bashing Tips defense because he always had them guys going out there, right? All right. I appreciated Tib, but I just I didn’t like the drop coverage. I felt like he and you know, a lot of people, you look at what happened with Golden State where Mark Jackson got the team to as far as they could go and then you bring in Steve Curry is able to get you over the hump and now you’re looking at a dynasty. You know, can the Knicks become a dynasty? We’ll see. They surely have the pieces to do it. We were talking about kind of just the the year outlook of the payroll. If you’re able to keep this core together, you know, you’re able to do it. And sometimes it’s just a new a new voice that you need. You know, shout out Tibs for laying the foundation of what this team I I think you Tibs is responsible for bringing that workers like bluecollar mentality that you’re going to go out there and you’re going to play your butt off and you’re not quite frankly you’re not going to touch the floor if you’re not right. But, you know, sometimes you need someone with a little bit more of a modern uh view on basketball. And Mike Brown has talked about how his his perspective has changed over the years, having played, having not played, having coached under different guys and coached different types of athletes. This is a guy who’s coached Kobe, LeBron, different stars over the course of his Steph Curry as an assistant. Now, you get Jaylen Brunson and Carl Anthony Towns. Uh, and you’re getting them and you had De’Arren Fox and Devontto Sabonis. Like, who’s what’s to say you don’t see cat bringing the ball up the floor in transition and making plays the way Sabonis did? He’s able to do that, too. So, I’m excited. I think this team is going to look so good. Uh when I I think it’s going to be maybe a little iffy maybe in October, November. Come December, January, I think this team is going to be kind of remember how the Cavaliers were kind of just buzzing people. I I think that’s on the table for the Knicks come January. Let’s get to it, man. Rambo, man, we’ll holler, man. We’ll catch up with you on the next lunchtime grind, man. Shout outs, Rambo, sir. Salute. Salute. Yes, sir. Salute to Rambo, man. Uh Chris, what do you got on deck? Anything else on deck this week? Uh tomorrow uh I’m going to file that piece on what we know and what we don’t know about Mike Brown’s offense, right? Like this is these are things that he’s talked through, but I kind of want to get a player’s perspective on some of the things that they’re trying to establish earlier into camp. Uh and then after that, we we got Mitch coming to talk soon, too. And you know, Mitch is a big piece of what’s going forward. I want to know what Mike Brown thinks about him, about how he fits in this uptempo offense that he wants to run. And uh we know how important Mitch is to this team. So those are some things I’m working on right now. Yeah. And one one thing with Blockch Ness, man, it it seems like he felt a little underappreciated when when he came back and and helped his team in the playoffs. He mentioned it a couple times couple times on KFTV as well, like, yo, listen, man. Like, if it wasn’t for me, we wouldn’t have got that far. So, I feel like Mitch is I think he’s negotiating through us a little bit for that next bag. So, I’m going to be interested. We’re going to be listening out for Mitch’s presser. Mitch is a key piece to what this team is trying to do, but he also doesn’t have a contract. And that’s just the dark cloud that’s hovering over the entire situation is next year if the Knicks don’t make a move in February. You’re going to be put in a situation where you might have to go over the second apron to keep him or he’s going to leave in free agency. What does that look like? So, that’s kind of the undercurrent right now. We all know how important Mitch is to this team, but if the Knicks aren’t going to keep him, we’ve seen in the past if you’re not going to pay a guy, you’re going to trade him by the deadline. We’ve seen that happen. So guys that you thought weren’t going anywhere. True. Right. So true. True. It’s a business. We’ll see what We’ll see what they decide to do. It is a business, man. Well, great job today, man. We’ll be listening out. We’ll be bringing you back on, man. We We need these reports. We need the inside of track and uh and you’re getting us there, man. This idea that Jalen only knows how to play one way is ridiculous. He played behind Luka and was content to stay there. There’s a big difference between a person calling his own number and having tunnel vision and a coach who doesn’t have any creativity on offense who thinks the best play is isolation. Thibs felt the best option was to clear it out and let JB create. And the fact we were winning didn’t make him change his mind. JB was running the play, not calling his own plays. Randle was asked to do the same thing for three years before JB got here.
This dude seems to like Hart a lot…."perfect fit"…yikes, he must have not watched a lot of Knicks games. Josh Hart, the least talented player in the core, better not be the offensive cog Brown relies on for the sake of playing fast in his system.
Kristen talks like how Mikal runs. Get bro some Gatorade
KFTV Kris on the check in solid dude fasho. The hype is real #Knicksin26 #ReplayGang
It was definitely the free throws in Game 1 on the ECF that hurt us
I believe Kat in the 4th and OG in OT
After Game 1 loss, it was over
I don’t think it was Tibs fault , it was The missed free throws in Game 1
Great podcast, bring Kris back again.
I can’t believe how stacked we are man
#replaygang Solid show, Kris is an A1 guest, very informative.
After listening to this, I feel a lot better about Mike Brown as Coach. At least on paper, he is the perfect combination of stern disciplined coach with enough flexibility to switch up lineups and use the bench.
My guy got right to it. Forget the small talk. I like that lol
CP where can I get the link to download the Knicks schedule onto my calendar and all the other things 👀
Calendar is a fire idea! Salute!
lol Mikal conditioning probably super elite
2:25 Mikail Bridges still runnin on adrenalin from that $150M contract – you hit me w/ $37,500,000 yr I'd outrun Usain Bolt🤣
The team needs to give Leon a parade 🎉
