Bochy’s Rangers future unclear as season ends

  1. This looks like a man who is ready to retire permanently. A reunion in SF isn’t in the works.

  2. I don’t think so

    1. he’s probably gonna retire in a year or two

    2. This team is not ready for a deep playoff run it made sense for the Rangers cause they just needed a final piece to get them over the top that’s not where we are

  3. Absolutely amazing that Bochy brought a world championship to Texas. What a legend.

My guess is that Boch retires after this season, and the Giants go one more year with lame duck Melvin. If the Giants make the playoffs, Melvin is extended. If the Giants do not make the postseason in 2026, SF moves on from Melvin and probably promotes from within (Mark Hallberg).

  4. I would be ok for a year or 2 of Bochy 500 ball because it would clear up one final thing, even if only for Poesy and Minassian and maybe get them to make some harder choices about player development and other foundational practices in the organization. Watching the Rivercats a lot. I see some of the same taking of pitches down the heart of the plate and flail away at offspeed stuff especially down and away. Also to development time for arms since the BP is shot and Roupp/Birdy/Whisenhunt/Black need a couple more years to develop and get their innings ceiling up.

I wanted to lay that at Burrell’s feet, but seeing it also in the minors make me wonder if it’s more than that.
