Bruce Zimmerman designated for assignment

  1. He did what we needed him to do last night. Ate up 6 innings. A shame that the game turned out the way it did but getting those 6 innings was undoubtedly important.

  2. Ok, that didn’t go well but pitching isn’t going to matter much if you can’t score. Offense has been anemic last two series.

  3. Reminds me of that Bob Uecker quote where he “hit one grand slam in his entire career, and when the manager came out to take the pitcher out of the game, he brought his luggage with him”

  4. I have no ill will towards him and wish him luck. He did not appear to be at the level he needed to be for the MLB to me. That’s just a tough break, thrown well into the fire after a good string of AAA appearances.

  5. The next CBA should create a different tier for players used this way so they can earn more. Zimmerman did an important job for the team, he should make more money.

  6. I know he didn’t have a good showing but our offense did absolutely nothing all game long to try and help this guy out. They have got to figure out putting up consistent numbers on the board going into the post season. Zero point games happen but as Murph emphatically yelled at the umpire a couple days ago, “We’re playing for something here.” That goes for both sides.
