Brandin Cooks on WR room, playing in Seattle | New Orleans Saints
Hey Brandon, what has it been like the last few weeks to have, you know, like Trey Palmer get in the room, J like Jaylen Pulk, like some of the younger guys, and how can you help them get adjusted to, you know, it’s been great. Uh, no, it’s definitely been great to be able to see, uh, especially obviously Trey come out there rolling and doing what he’s doing in practice. Um, you know, it’s always great to be able to have guys, you know, addition to the room, um, that’s always on the same page and, uh, that’s all we about is working and and those guys work. So, Brandon, what do you like about what you’ve seen from your room so far this year? I know it’s just two games in, but, but what stood out to you? I think the biggest thing is just how we play for one another, right? Um, that we all so interchangeable. Um, that we all can line up anywhere on the field and play off one another. Like you said, it’s only been two weeks, but I I felt that jump from week one to week two. Um, and hopefully, you know, we feel that jump again from two to three. Uh, but the selflessness from from every guy to be able to help each other get open and make plays. I can definitely see from our room. How does that week one to week two jump that you noticed this year compare to maybe your experience with other rooms, other places, things like that? Like, does it feel consistent with what you usually Oh, no, definitely consistent. you know, from the standpoint, obviously playing a little faster. Um, you know, you go from preseason not getting many stats, so that week one uh is a little slower, but then that week two, you want to see that jump of guys playing faster, not thinking as much. And you definitely seen that, and that’s that’s consistent uh throughout my years place up. And now that you’ve gotten a couple of game days in with uh with Kellen, just what are some of your impressions of, you know, what you’re seeing in this version of the offense with him? I mean, my person is a guy, you know, he loves to play fast. Um, you know, he he loves to be in that attack mode. He’s not really waiting to see what the defense gives him. Uh, he trusting our offense, trusting his play calling, um, that it’ll get it done and his way of attacking all uh, the defense and playing fast. Uh, it’s pretty fun to watch. Yeah, I know it’s been a while since you’ve been out to Seattle, but, you know, obviously back with the Rams, you’d play them every year. What was that what is that environment like? Yeah. No, it’s a great it’s a it’s a great environment. Obviously, you know, it’s a loud stadium. Um, they’ve been known for that historically. Um, you know, they got a great team right now. You know, came off a huge win last week, so we expect the stadium to be loud. Um, but I think, you know, the poise that Kell talks about throughout the week and being able to just be on the same page. Uh, it’s going to be a great test for us on the road. First time on the road this year, and I think we uh, we ready for that challenge. Can you tell, you got a lot of Oh, go ahead. Okay. Can you tell if a team like you know if they’re coming off a big one like that like if there is kind of a lag like within the following week? No. You know I think you look at the coach you know coach Mike McDonald got respect for him. He you know he’s came from Baltimore and uh played in a lot of big games. I don’t think you see him as a coach that allows that from his team. Um and they got some vets over there that I know that also probably going into practice making sure that don’t happen. Um, you you can get that from from teams, but I I don’t expect that from the team. I expect they they want to get a win at home. They’re trying everything that they can and they got a hungry team and us coming in and um they want to be on their P’s and Q’s. Brandon, I was just going to ask you, do you have any memories from um Husky Stadium where y’all are practicing today just from your college days? Well, I I I didn’t play in this stadium. Uh they were building it. So, when we played, we actually played at the Seahawk stadium the few times that Okay. we played the Huskies. So, but I look forward to being back here in the the Northwest. It’s a it’s always a great time of the year to play some football. What are your impressions of Seattle’s defense this year? Yeah. Know, you got guys, you know, flying around obviously, you know, depending where play, but um you know, I love his game, that back end, what they was able to do this past week against Pittsburgh. Uh I think it was pretty impressive in that rush, you know, 99 back there leading that that front seven. Um, so like I said, we look forward to it. Great defense. Uh, but you know, we look forward to the challenge. Uh, there was a little bit of conversation coming out of last week from Kell and others around the idea of of fast starts. Uh, how do you go about how do you go about doing that? Yeah, I you know I think uh you know from the way that we practice uh this week and also being out here on the road like you expect the crowd to get loud, but if you can have a fast start, you can kind of minimize some of that noise. Um and the way you go about that is having positive plays, not biting yourself in the foot, not letting the crowd get in uh in the game from a standpoint of delay games or whatever the case may be. Uh just going out there focused um you know and having positive plays like I said, not biting yourself in the foot.
