Javonte Williams: I’d Rather Be the Hammer | Dallas Cowboys 2025
Chicago. Um yeah, a lot of big guys, physical. Um we just got to play our brand of football and uh start fast. Coach gave us the news that your weekly captain today. What was uh what was that? Yeah. No, that’s uh it was special. Um just being a new face on the team. Um the coaches trust me. I mean, I feel like my teammates respect me and for them to have that much trust in me and vote me as a captain, uh it’s an honor. How seamless has it been for you to kind of become a leader here and get ingrained here? You know, obviously this being your first year. Yeah. Um it’s a lot of guys that I already knew on the team. So, um the transition was kind of smooth and then like I’ve been saying this whole time, just the atmosphere. Um I feel like it’s genuine here. It’s easy to get along with my teammates and uh I like being here. You had a couple runs where it looked like you went in the pile, you know, it’s like, oh, maybe he’s going to get tackled, then you escaped just because you kept your feet moving. And where did that kind of mentality, I guess, come from to keep your feet moving? How easy is that for you to not stop getting your feet moving? Yeah. Um I really feel like it just come from playing linebacker for so many years. Um just being physical. Um knowing that not everybody want to tackle for the for the whole game. So I mean you just got to outlast the opponent. When you were a linebacker, was it like you recognize running backs like man I don’t want to tackle that guy for that reason or you’re like were there things that you learned from running backs against you that you kind of use now? I guess. Um yeah. Um it’s I mean tackling somebody I rather be the punish the hammer and not the nail. So, uh, um, tackling somebody for four quarters is not fun. And I know that that that the linebackers feel the exact same way. And I mean, everybody on defense, um, and then not only me, they getting blocked, um, and everything. So, they got to come off the blocks and do things like that. So, I mean, just the whole team

Love having a good running game this year. At least this far
He was awesome at NC. Great contact balance.
Keep pounding the rock young man

He proved me wrong within these two games ๐ซกโผ๏ธ๐ฏ
I remember watching him in person run roughshod on the Cowboys defense 4 years ago. So many Cowboy fans undervalue signings like this. McClay got another one! ๐๐ฝ
