Dodgers vs. D-backs Game Highlights (9/25/25) | MLB Highlights

Daytime baseball from Phoenix in Chase Field and the Dodgers with a chance to clinch the division today in the finale. Boy, what a wild series this has been these couple games. Dodgers win in an extras yesterday to drop the Magic number to one for a 12th division title in 13 years. The Diamondbacks lost a heartbreaker last night. Had they won that game, they would have been in pole position today to make the playoffs. Now they still need to be one game better than Cincinnati and New York, but they only have four games left to do it. Diamondbacks have pushed Zack Gallon back a day. So it’s an opener today. Jaylen Beaks, the left-hander, gets the start against the Dodgers. This is a common procedure against the Dodgers with Otani hitting first, Freddy Freeman hitting third, but Dave Roberts has adjusted his lineup a little bit today to try to counter the left-handed opener. Otani steps in against Beaks. Otani hitting 281 53 homers and he drills this deep to center. Had a leadoff triple out there last night. This one just shy of the track. That ball still traveled a long distance having been hit right off the end of the bat. Mookie bats batting next. Swing and a miss. Fix comes up and in with that fast ball and he’s got the first two. If you can elevate that force seamer just a little above the zone, you get a lot of swings and misses. Two gone and Tay Oscar coming up. Well, the right-handed batter batting third against the lefty as Tioscar Hernandez sends a moonball high in the air. Shallow straightaway center field. Thomas hustling in makes the catch. It’s Jaylen Beaks who turns in a 10 pitch. One, two, three. Top of the first. The ace of the top rotation in baseball has been very aelike lately. Almost unhitable. Opponents three for their last 73 against Yoshobu Yamamoto. It’s three consecutive splitters to open the game from Yamoto. Throws that pitch as much as anybody. That was the one that you heard about when he came over from Japan. Four consecutive splitters to strike him out. Purdommo’s got to be sitting up there thinking there’s no way that he throws four in a row to start the game, right? Wrong. Two two pitch grounded to Freddy Freeman at first. He’ll grab it. Underhand toss to Yamamoto covering and there are two away. So here comes Carol. Carol had two hits and two walks yesterday. Swing and a miss. Strike three. The splitter got him. One, two, three go the Diamondbacks and Yamamoto strikes out two of them. Freddy Freeman starts his second for the Dodgers. Jaylen Beaks stays in. We’ll see if Beaks gets two full innings here. If it’s just Freeman. Freeman hitting 291. 21 home runs. He’s driven in 85. Freeman gets into this ball deep to right field. It’s gone. Freddy Freeman’s home run starts the scoring. And on a day where the magic number is one, on the scoreboard, there’s one. Freddy Freeman with his 22nd homer gets the Dodgers on the board. It is one- nothing. A line drive that just kept on carrying up and over the right field fence and Freddy Freeman gets the Dodgers in front and that is going to chase Jaylen Beaks out of the ball game. If he had gotten Freeman, he would have gotten the inning. If Freeman reached he was going to come out and obviously we know how that ended here replacing left hand throwing Jaylen Baks is the righty Nil Krismat who will try to give them some length here homerred in last night’s game hit a home run in the fourth inning a two-run shot broke a 1-1 tie and a drive to left field he went down and got it with two strikes and guled it to the seats Freeman and Pahz go backto back and it’s two to nothing backto back home runs for the Dodgers they lead two Nothing for Andy Pahz, his 27th home run. And he absolutely annihilated that up into the left field bleachers here at Chase Field. What a shot by Pahz. Backto back home runs off two different pitchers. And the Debbecks seriously cannot get out of their own way here in this second. They given up two homers a walk. A misplay on a fielder’s choice by rushing. And the bases are loaded for Otani who could just drop an anvil on the Diamondbacks right now. Got him. There’s that Chris back change up and that’s an enormous out for the hesitate to say it but Otani just hasn’t looked like himself in this series. He’s chased a lot of bad pitches. Dive bombing out of the strike zone low and away. No rest for the weary. Here comes Mookie Betts. Base is still full of Dodgers and two outs. Lind into left field and he takes advantage. One run is in. Here comes Hernandez. Throw is late. Two-run single, fourrun second. And Mookie Betts comes through with a two out, two-run single to make it a four nothing lead. Well, Mookie Bets in his career no stranger to bases loaded. 325 average. So he’s now 40 for 121 at bats with three men on base. And here come the Dags. Two on and only one out for Catel Marte. It’s the second hit allowed by Yamamoto this afternoon. Great time to bust out and hit one in the pool right here. He has done his share of damage against the Dodgers. As we mentioned earlier, he’s in 350 versus LA with four home runs. They need a big swing to get back in this one. And a popup shadow left center field. On comes Conoro with a diving try, but he couldn’t get it. He’ll get the man at third. McCarthy between a rock and a hard place there. What an effort from Michael Conforto. Doesn’t make the catch, but gets the same result. Out number two. Force out lucky break for the Dodgers as Conforto when he dove shielded the ball with his body and nobody could tell if it was caught or not. Chance for Corbin now. First and second, two outs. He struck out his first time out. Corbin swings, hits a ground ball to Freddy Freeman. Freddy up with it. Underhand toss to the speedy Yamamoto who gets to the bag well in front of Corbin Carroll for the final out of the Diamondbacks third. Dexs unfortunately get two on. They do not score. One out, runner at third. Dodgers already with a four to nothing lead. One away and here’s Otani for the third time in the game. Another chance for Otani to extend his zombie streak. Show golf one to right center field. Headed for the pool. Splash. Splash down for Otani in Phoenix. Home run number 54. And the Dodgers lead it 6 nothing. Look at where this pitch is located. Are you kidding me? Nobody, no one besides Show Otani not only hits this pitch, but hits it for power. He ties his own home run record. He ties the Dodgers single season home run record. And in doing so, he’s broken the modern-day record for runs scored in franchise history. The hometown crowd kind of quiet, but Dodger fans yelling out MVP. Freddy Freeman, the batter, two outs, a man aboard. First of the three home runs the Dodgers have in this game came from this man back in the second. Freeman sends one in the air to right center field. This ball’s got a chance. Carol to the wall. It is gone. It’s the second today for Freddy Freeman. And the Dodgers lead it eight to nothing. It’s a runaway in the desert and the Dodgers want a celebration. And the lifeguard in the pool needs help and the Dodgers are just rubbing the Diamondback’s noses in it. 8 nothing Los Angeles. Five more scoreless innings for Yoshi Nou Yamamoto puts his ERA for the year at 250. There’s Corbin Carroll facing Yamamoto. He chases one and strikes out. Good splitter and there it is. Strikeout number 200 on the season for Yoshobu Yamamoto. Well, it’s been quite a season for Yamamoto and he’s given his ball club a chance to win when he takes the mound. Swung on and miss. Strike three. There’s number 2011. Seventh of the game. And that one comes on a slider. His first on the slider today. Two down for the Diamondbacks. Fly ball center field. Pah drifts back in. Puts it away. And Yamamoto caps off his regular season with six scoreless innings. Bottom of the eighth inning. Dodgers eight. Diamondbacks nothing. Heraldo Pommo switch hitter batting left against the new Dodger pitcher. Right-hander Will Klein. It’s a swing and a miss and a strike out for Klein to open this eight. One away in the bottom of the eighth. Five outs away. Marte goes after the first one. Rips the ball towards right. That’s going to get down and get all the way to the wall. Into second goes Catel with a sliding double. And with one out. The Dbacks have a runner at scoring position. Corbin Carroll swings, rolls one to Kik Hernandez at first. He’ll grab it. He’ll make an immediate left turn. Go step on the bag to get Carol for the second out. Now four outs to get for the division title. Strike three called. He got him with a curveball looking. Oh, a terrific pitch by Klene. And the Dodgers need three more outs. One more inning and then get him cracking. Get him popping. Thank god they don’t have to travel all this stuff up to Seattle. That’d be high highriced baggage fees there on your Dodger. It’s Anthony Bondo to try and finish this game off quietly. He’s been one of the best relievers in the National League in the second half. A 169 since the All-Star break. Check swim. Did he go around? Yes, he did. Marvin Hudson, third base umpire on appeal. Rings up the strikeout. Del Castillo is out and two outs to get. On the outside corner, two gone in the nine. One out away from the division title. H Barrosa, the outfielder, batting from the right side with two outs and the bases empty here in the bottom of the ninth. Ground ball to third, over to first. 12 times in 13 years, the Dodgers have won the West. The 2025 Dodgers are the National League’s Western Division champions, and they’ve now won the division title four straight seasons. Everybody contributed in this clinching win. The offense explosive with four home runs. The Ace with six scoreless innings. And in the bullpen, three shutout innings to preserve a shutout win for the clinching win.
