DWade on Rudy Gay saying his team would’ve beaten the 2013 Miami HEAT: “I DM’d it to Rudy, ‘Hey Rudy, this must be an AI-generated quote cuz there’s no way in hell you said this.’ So he hit me back: ‘Yeah, you know me, I said it. You gotta have confidence.’ I said, ‘Boy, belt to ass.’”

  1. The crazy thing with a lot of retired players is they seem to have a ton of “what if” championships in their head.

  2. “This must be an AI-generated quote cuz there’s no way in hell you said this.”

    Legendary lead.

  3. I’m glad Wade mentioned how everything has to go right even with those Dynastic teams they still need everything to go right so it’s not an indictment on players individual skill but more so everything working out with the team as well.

So players essentially like AI, James Harden, KD (won a championship but you wonder about those Nets teams) , Charles Barkley had better teams, what if Larry never injured his back, Magic having HIV. If just shows how everything has to go right.

  4. 2013 raptors lost in 7 to Brooklyn and then Brooklyn proceeded to lose in 5 to the heat. There’s no way we win even if we matched up better than Brooklyn against the heat, which I don’t pretend to know if we did match up better or not.

    Edit: wrong year ignore me

  5. That Heat team was taken to seven games two series in a row, so it’s not inconceivable that they could have been beatable that year, but those Grizzlies with Rudy Gay sure as hell couldn’t have done it.

  6. There’s Jeff Teague, and then there’s D Wade. Some dudes should just retire into the sunset, never to be heard from again.

  7. It would be competitive. That Heat team didn’t space very well. Rudy would make interior scoring very challenging for them

  8. the Grizz got better after trading him and he basically spent the rest of his career bouncing from team to team. these retired guys are something.

  9. I’ll do everything in my power to introduce “belt to ass” in my vocabulary as an expression of complete disbelief and ridicule towards a wack opinion.

You say Ballmer didn’t know? Man, *belt to ass.*
