The Miami Marlins sending out Sandy Alcantra. The New York Mets sending out Brandon Sprout. And Sprrot coming off his worst start as a major leager. Four runs allowed on four hits over four innings of work. He did have five strikeouts in a pair of walks. But for me, that was just kind of, you know, the epitome of why Brandon Sprro was the last one to be called up of the of the main names in the Mets farm system. like Jonah Tong and Nolan Mlan. It’s because Sprro was probably the most or sorry, the the least major league ready. Now, granted, right now, um, you know, Jonah Tong has been the one that’s been getting hit, but still, you know, Sprro has not looked anything special. I mean, in the one start that he lost, he took the loss and it was still six innings, a three-run ball. It’s a quality start, but he had issues with control. Gave up four walks in that start. Now you’re facing a Miami lineup that in the last two weeks against righties have been pretty solid, hitting 262. Team OPS numbers inside the top 10. The isolated power numbers are above league average. 18.2% strikeout rate is one of the lowest in baseball. So I think they can do some damage here off of Brandon Sprout. On the other side, you got Sandy Alcantra facing the New York Mets who in their own, you know, right have been hitting righties fairly well over the last two weeks. I mean, hitting 271, the team OPS numbers are just outside the top five. Isolated power numbers are top five, but it hasn’t translated to wins for the most part for the New York Mets, who are still playing 50/50 baseball over their last 10 entering Thursday’s action. And this is a team that’s, you know, struggling to find consistent offense. And I think they could struggle to as well. Sandy Alcantra back to kind of looking like the Alcantra that we’re used to seeing over the last couple of seasons to where, you know, his last seven starts, he’s got a 2.70 ERA. You know, his last two starts, he’s made it into the seventh inning, and he’s made it into the seventh inning. In five of his last six starts, the majority of those, he’s given up three runs or less, or even two runs or less. Home runs can still be an issue at times, but we saw him against the Mets twice already this season, picking up the win in both outings. Five innings of two-run ball back on April 1st and back on August 31st, a more recent sample at City Field. Seven innings of one-run ball in a win for the Miami Marlins and what ended up being a 5 to1 victory. I think the value here is on the Marlins who’ve been saving some of their best baseball for last. This is a team that’s trying to finish the year 500. They’re trying to play spoiler and the Mets have been playing with fire and this could be a series where they get burned because the Miami Marlins I think that they’re actively trying to play spoiler because they saved three of their best pitchers for the final series of the season. Alcantra, Perez, and Cabrera. So, I’m going to go with the Miami Marlins here at plus money at home and that’s going to be my free pick.
