Injury Updates, NFL in Dublin, and Micah vs. Dak | The Insiders

happened from Sunday. Getting
ready for Monday
The 40 niners have dealt with their share of bad injury news
lately, so how about some good?
Brock is back. We’ll tell you what Purdy’s return means for a
banged up San Francisco team.
That is three and zero, but does not have much breathing
room in the NFC West. The
commanders will have to wait another week for the return of
their quarterback, Jayden
Daniels, and he’s not the only Pro Bowl player who will miss
Sunday’s game against the
Falcons. We will tell you what comes next for Washington.
Their QB and Terry McLaurin. We
are now just two days away from the NFL’s maiden voyage to
Ireland. Not the first time
that Vikings have raided the island. That was in 795 A.D.
The Steelers can only hope. You
know it goes a little better for them. Welcome inside with
the insiders presented by
Progressive Insurance alongside Mike Garafolo, I am Tom
Pelissero. Week four on the NFL
calendar is underway. We will get into that pretty wacky.
Cardinals Seahawks game from
last night in just a little bit here, but we’ve also got a
chock full Sunday slate that
begins bright and early in Ireland right here on NFL
network with the Vikings and
the Steelers. And we’ve had some developments on the injury
front that also are going to
impact Sunday’s games. That’s where we begin with the 40
Niners who have QB1 back in
business. Brock Purdy missed the past two games, had a left
shoulder injury and more
important, a toe injury that had kept him off the field. But
Mike, within the past couple of
days, the tone kind of shifted. Not a surprise today when Kyle
Shanahan said, yes, indeed.
Brock Purdy is good to go against the Jaguars. Yeah, he
was taking the reps as the
number one quarterback up during individual and team
drills. So that was an
indication that early in the week they felt good about it.
He was listed as limited, but
it was a slight limitation. And the understanding was that he
was progressing through
practice, feeling good enough to wind up being the starting
quarterback for this this week,
that one now official. And for the 40 Niners fortunate because
you’ve got Mac Jones, who is
now listed as questionable for this game with his knee issue.
So it’s like these quarterbacks
are trading injuries at just the right time right now. And
the 40 Niners now know they can
rely upon Mac Jones to win some games for them. Certainly for
them if they need him in spot
duty. But this is the 40 niners, and that means that the
injuries are not limited to
like 1 or 2 guys. There’s a long list of them certainly a
key position. So let’s go down
them here because you’ve got two wide receivers listed as
questionable Jauan Jennings and
Ricky Pearsall. Now Pearsall was limited the last couple of
days. Jennings returned to the
field today, got one practice in in a limited capacity. So
not great but not terrible. And
Pearsall has been spectacular so far for the 40 niners with
Brandon Aiyuk. Lord knows when
he’s coming back. John Lynch saying today that it’s going to
be quite some time before he
comes back. It’s also going to be some time before Nick Bosa
comes back. He did have surgery
that from every understanding went well. I think Kyle
Shanahan even said that he was
told that it went well. So that’s good for the long haul.
It’s just not going to help the
40 niners in the 2025 season. So Nick Bosa on the road to
recovery. And all of this is
coming because it’s week four and week six is not here yet.
What is week six means. That’s
when George Kittle can return. So he is still out of action
for the 40 niners. So a lot for
them to overcome here in a game against the Jaguars somehow
winning games. And if they can
win this one and stay on the winning side, it’s that much
more impressive considering
what they’re dealing with from an injury standpoint. All that
against the backdrop of a very
competitive NFC West, which we saw the Seahawks advance to
three and one last night. The
Rams are hanging in there as well. The Cardinals lost two
games on last second field
goals here. More on that Thursday night game in just a
little bit. But let’s go to the
NFC East where the commanders once again are going to be
without their quarterback
Jayden Daniels, dealing with a knee sprain. He was limited in
practice on Wednesday and
Thursday when he wasn’t out there at the start of practice
today, that made pretty clear
this wasn’t going in the right direction. This is a medical
decision Daniels wants to play.
They are erring on the side of caution here. Certainly
possibility open. The Daniels
could be back as soon as week five. For now it’s going to be
Marcus Mariota going up against
his old team again. Mariota helped the commanders get a win
last week against the Raiders
this Sunday. Now will go up against the Falcons who he
started for before being
benched for Desmond Ridder. And then leaving the club, which
didn’t necessarily go over well.
Based upon the team’s public statements. Mariota played at a
pretty high level, but now he’s
got to do it this coming week without Terry McLaurin, who
suffered. They’re calling it a
quad injury. Is it the quad the groin the core the hip flexor.
He’s undergone a bunch of
different tests. He’s seen specialist Dan Quinn said at
this point Terry McLaurin week
to week. That does not sound like an injured reserve
situation. That would take him
off the field for four games, but no guarantee McLaurin is
even back next week. Something
big here, Mike, to keep an eye on for a Washington team that
when they went through camp
without McLaurin because he was going through a contract
situation, that offense had a
lot of rough days. We are just, what, 47 hours, not 47, 41
hours away from Jaxson Dart,
making his debut for the New York Giants, named starter the
other day, the rookie first
round pick that the team traded up to get that Brian Daboll
fell in love with during the
draft process. Now getting out there in not a limited capacity
like he’s been for the first
three weeks, a full go, not just this week, but for the
rest of the season. Jaxson Dart,
now the guy charged with bringing some life to this
Giants season and this Giants
offense. He did that in the preseason. He did it in
training camp. He did it in
practices during the regular season. Now let’s see him take
it to the field while Russell
Wilson you see right there going to serve as the number
two quarterback. With Jameis
Winston remaining as the three. Not a bad backup to have. But
you know Russ and Russ
certainly said this week he feels like he’s still got some
good football left. It won’t be
with the Giants I mean this is something maybe we’ll watch as
we get closer to the trading
deadline or whatnot. So Jaxson Dart going to be charged with
finding Malik Nabers. Yeah I
would look for number one if I was out there playing
quarterback for the New York
Giants. Neighbors not on the injury report after being
limited in practice. Missed a
practice earlier the week as well with a shoulder injury.
He’s had back, hip, shoulder.
Malik Nabers a pretty tough guy. I remember talking to a Giants
guy recently, Giants member of
the organization who said, you guys don’t give him enough
credit for how tough he is and
what he plays through, not just playing through it, but playing
very well through it. And
another ailment here in the shoulder that he’s going to
play through. Tom. The Chiefs
did enough offensively against the Giants on Sunday night to
win a game against a putrid
offensive performance. They got Russell Wilson benched, but
help is on the way. Xavier
worthy off the injury report. And good to go. Set to play on
Sunday in a huge game against
the fellow one two Ravens for the first time since taking
that shot from Travis Kelce
back in the week one game in Brazil. Contrary to some of the
things that have been floating
around, there was not a setback. This wasn’t an injury that
ended up being worse. You can
see that harness that Worthy’s wearing on his shoulder when
you dislocate or sublux it.
That thing could pop in and out. You’re dealing with a tear in
there. It takes guys time
sometimes to get used to wearing that on the field.
Obviously, worthy has now
gotten comfortable. He’s good to go. This week, the status of
Rams wide receiver Davante
Adams remains clouded. Meanwhile, officially listed as
questionable, though coach Sean
McVay said he’s optimistic about the direction that it is
headed with Davante Adams now
potentially, could that mean that he is limited in terms of
snaps against the Colts? We’ll
find that out. It may depend in part on how Davante Adams is
feeling again trending upwards,
but officially Adams listed as questionable on the injury
report. Meanwhile, we got a
double header on Monday night, including the Jets paying a
visit to the Dolphins. While
nothing is official yet, it does seem like Justin Fields is
on track to play in that game.
Listed as a full participant in practice today for the second
consecutive day. Still in the
concussion protocol. But once you get to practicing in full,
you’re on step four of the five
step return to play protocol. Barring a setback and pending
the clearance by an independent
neurologist. Again, it does appear that fields is on track
to return to the starting
lineup on Monday night. That is the last game or one of the
last games of week four. Let’s
get to the first game of week four. And it was a dandy. Sam
Darnold and the road winning
Seahawks eight and one in their last nine road games going up
against Kyler Murray who has
lost a whole lot of games seven in a row coming in to the
Seahawks. This isn’t going to
help Marvin Harrison Jr who has been going through it. Bobbles.
That one turns a ball that is
right on the numbers into an interception for Ernest Jones
who returns all the way to the
49 yard line. Take another look. That is not the Marvin Harrison
Jr. You draft in the top ten.
It’s not the guy we saw at Ohio State a little plot twist. He
got things back on track. Other
end of the field Seahawks late second quarter Zach Charbonnet.
Look at the effort by Charles
Cross to push him right into the end zone. Seahawks up 14
three at the half. Let’s jump
ahead to the fourth quarter now Kyler Murray going for you
guessed it Marvin Harrison Jr.
If you watch his reaction to this touchdown this is a thank
you to the man upstairs. He
needed this one play a lot better too from that point
forward in the game. Next
Cardinals drive after a Seahawks missed field goal.
It’s Kyler Murray to Emari
Demercado underneath seven yard touchdown. All of a sudden the
Cardinals team looked like they
were buried back into it. They tie it up ensuing dynamic
kickoff though this is less
than dynamic. Chad Ryland you got to get the kick to the 20
yard line. It comes up short of
the landing zone. That means Seattle comes out to the 40
yard line. They only have 28
seconds. This helps them get into field goal position.
Ensuing Seahawks drive now. Sam
Darnold to Jaxon Smith-njigba. It was a quiet night at times
for J’sun. Unless you were a
referee with a hot mic. Then a little bit louder that gets him
into field goal range right
there. Four second left Jason Myers chance for redemption.
Knocks it through. Just barely.
Seahawks win 23 to 20 Devin Witherspoon joined our Bridget
Condon after the game. A lot of
players I spoke with on your team this week told me that
they wanted to show the world
what you’re capable of saying they knew how good this team
was, but maybe not getting the
national recognition. What did you show out here that the
Seattle Seahawks are? I mean,
you got to play for four quarters. I mean, we just put
it on tape. I mean, I think
other teams around the league know what’s going on,
especially on this defensive
side of the ball defensive side of the ball. But we played team
football over here man. We
don’t single nobody out. We just come out here, play hard,
play physical and you feel me?
We just come out and play four quarters together as a team.
You know we got to need each
other’s back. So when it’s time to step up, the other side, got
each other. So that’s how we do
it over here. Let’s welcome in our Omar Ruiz to the
conversation here. Omar this is
a really talented Seahawks defense. They play hard. They
haven’t had these guys. They
haven’t had Devin Witherspoon in their previous game against
Pittsburgh Tariq Woolen was
kind of up and down in that game. But you can see what
they’re building. You can feel
it with the way that for most of that game last night it was
pretty dominant. Yeah. Coming
in and out of the lineup. You mentioned Uchenna Nwosu missed
the first game of the season.
He’s been back for a couple of weeks. You saw how good he was
with a couple sacks coming into
the game last night. There are fourth in the league in scoring
defense are the only team in
the league to not allow a rushing touchdown. Players
after the game, Mike McDonald
just talked about how together these guys are, how well and
coordinated they rush as a
defensive line is how Leonard Williams put it there. You see
them swarming, not allowing
first downs, really coordinating that attack on
Kyler Murray, those six sacks I
mentioned Nwosu, who missed 22 games of the past couple of
years. He’s rounding into form,
saying he still has to get in shape and still had those two
sacks. Leonard Williams a sack
and a half and they’re forcing Kyler Murray. You mentioned it
when you were doing the
highlights, Tom, how he was just weaving those balls into
tight windows. And he came up
with the interceptions when Marvin Harrison bobbled the
ball. It wasn’t just that
Marvin Harrison bobbled the ball, but there were four other
Seahawks around the football to
come up with the interception. Ernest Jones came up with an
interception as well and they
were doing that all night long, Mike McDonald said after the
game today. As a matter of fact,
in that fourth quarter, letting those two touchdown drives and
they could have done a better
job putting them in positions to make plays in the fourth
quarter. Operationally, they’ll
study the process of getting in and out play by play in the
fourth quarter, but it’s a lot
easier to make to clean up those mistakes, Mike, when
you’re three and one than the
alternative. Yeah, two and two is the alternative, which poor
cardinals I mean they’ve lost
two close games and they’re alone in last place by
themselves in the NFC West.
That’s the margin. That’s how thin it is between first place
and last place in that division.
The good news for them is at least they found a little bit
of chemistry between Kyler
Murray and Marvin Harrison early in the game. I mean, it
was hard to watch at times,
particularly with the ball that Harrison had in his hands. Lost
was picked off for an
interception. You saw how relieved he was to finally get
into the end of the play. I’m
talking about to finally get into the end zone. I mean, this
is a year plus conversation
that we’ve been having about the Cardinals, which how do you
not get the ball into this
guy’s hands? Well, they finally did it and they did it in some
key moments. So at least
they’ve got something to build on there for their offense next
week. They’ve got the Titans.
They’ve got a game at home. Should be a winnable game to
get you back on the plus side
of 500. There are some tough games coming up and there’s
going to be tough games within
this division. There’s again not a lot of room for error.
You’re even fighting with the
teams in your division for the wild card spots that are going
to be there as well. It’s not
just a matter of catching whoever’s going to be in first
place. So Arizona’s got to take
as much positivity out of this game as possible into this
extended mini little by that
you get after a Thursday game. And I think just watching that
game last night, we saw, even
though we knew it already, just how critical James Connor has
been to that offense, to that
team, and his absence was noticeable last night in that
game versus the Seahawks. Omar,
thank you very much. Stick around. Chargers. Giants talk
the Jaxson Dart debut against
the team. You know well coming up in just a little bit. But
first let’s take you over to
Dublin where it’s not going to be J.J. McCarthy. His name
sounds like it belongs in this
game. It’s going to be Carson Wentz instead. Who if you’re
familiar with Carson’s game you
might say Dublin for him is the end of the rainbow a lot more
to come. It’s the insiders

Dublin, Ireland, where it’ll be
the Steelers against a Vikings team that played better
offensively and defensively.
Frankly, last week, with Carson Wentz starting at quarterback,
you look at the number of
points, the yards, everything was better in a week where well
again things seemed to go their
direction in general. But for Carson Wentz this was the best
game he had played
statistically in like four years. You got to go back to
when he was with the Colts to
find the last time that he had a comparable passer rating.
This was a really unique story
for Carson Wentz who grew up rooting for the Vikings. Gets a
win, but now maybe a little bit
different task going overseas and taking on Aaron Rodgers and
the Steelers. The last time
that Aaron Rodgers was in Europe and facing a Brian
Flores defense, it did not go
well. That was last year with the Jets. He went 29 of 54,
threw three interceptions. It
is, quite frankly the worst game I’ve ever seen Aaron
Rodgers play. You saw the
gesturing. You saw the histrionics. You saw two days
later Robert Saleh got fired
and they swapped out the play caller and made a bunch of
other changes. And nothing got
better for that Jets team. Aaron Rodgers hoping for a
little bit different outcome, a
little different future. Just two days from right now. That’s
all that’s left. Vikings and
Steelers bright and early 9:30 a.m. eastern time on Sunday
right here on NFL network. You
know it was already been there all week. Our Judy Battista in
Dublin with the Steelers. The
Pittsburgh Steelers arrived in Dublin earlier this morning.
They very quickly got on the
field for a light practice. When they did, at the
suggestion of equipment manager
Adam Regan, they were wearing jerseys with Irish names on the
nameplate. Earlier this week,
they got a bit of a history lesson from team owner Art
Rooney, who apparently has been
walking around the facility carrying his hurling stick. He
talked to the team about the
Rooney’s deep ties to Ireland and the historical importance
of Croke Park, where they will
play on Sunday. Cam Heyward called it sacred ground, while
on Sunday they will take to
that ground to face the Minnesota Vikings. And one of
the themes of this week for the
Pittsburgh Steelers is to get more plays. So far this season,
the average drive length for
the Steelers is just five plays, so they want to get off the
field on defense on third down
and stay on the field on offense on third down. They
feel that with more plays will
come, more opportunities to open up the deep passing attack
that they have not been able to
get going yet this season. We will see if they will be able
to do it this Sunday against
one of the league’s best defenses. Snooze off game on

definitely haven’t heard about any place else. Micah Parsons
is going back to Dallas Packers
Cowboys on Sunday night. What exactly is Micah Parsons and
his new team expecting? We’ll
talk about that in a lot more as this episode of The Insiders,
presented by Progressive
Insurance, rolls on. My moderate to severe Crohn’s
symptoms kept me out of the
picture. Now I have skyrizi. football snooze off game on
Vikings. Steelers Sunday at 930
eastern only on NFL network. A battle of unbeatens Sunday in
Tampa Eagles and Bucs. There’s
a few injury questions on the Tampa report. Baker Mayfield,
officially listed as
questionable, suffered a biceps injury last week. Kind of got
his elbow hit. It was an
awkward play. Stayed in the game. Didn’t take a ton of reps
through the course this week,
but Todd Bowles said he does expect Mayfield to play on
Sunday. Even better news, we
could see the debut of not one, but two Pro Bowl caliber
players for the Bucs this
season wide receiver Chris Godwin and left tackle Tristan
Wirfs both listed as
questionable, but Bowles said they too are trending towards
playing. That would obviously
be a huge lift at wide receiver where the Bucs just lost Mike
Evans. They haven’t had Jalen
McMillan and for the offensive line, that’s had all kinds of
moving parts here. Getting back
one of the best in the game would be huge, especially when
you’re going up against some
very huge men who got a little jump start on the flight to
Tampa. The Eagles already
arriving early. Extra time to acclimate to that heat and
humidity. If you know 24 extra
hours is capable of doing that. Elsewhere in the NFC East, the
Giants are at home this week
taking on the Chargers, and they got a new quarterback,
Jaxson Dart, the number 25
overall pick set to make his first NFL start on Sunday.
Russell Wilson demoted after a
brutal offensive performance last Sunday night, is going to
serve as the number two
quarterback in somewhere. I have to imagine Jesse Minter
and the Chargers defense are
licking their chops for this one. Welcome back to The
Insiders, presented by
Progressive Insurance. I’m Tom Pelissero, that’s Omar Ruiz
Omar, let’s get right to it.
How did the Chargers attack this Giants offense and that
first time starting QB. Well
you said it Jesse Minter saying they’re not going to overthink
it. He said as long as they
bring the right mentality to the field, they can play with
anybody, whether that’s Patrick
Mahomes or whether that’s a rookie like Jaxson Dart making
his first start. But he was
asked because disguising coverages is such a big part of
that Chargers defense and much
of their success. If they’re going to dial that up even more.
And Minter basically saying
they’re just going to play their game, they’re going to do
what they think is best to win
this game against the New York Giants, he said. They went back
and they watched a lot of film
from Ole Miss. Jaxson Dart in college didn’t necessarily
share that with the players.
What they did look at with the players was the 70 snaps that
he played in the preseason.
They studied what he did well, anticipating what they might do
with him to make him
comfortable as he makes his first start, they saw also what
he maybe didn’t do so well.
Going to try to capitalize on that, but but obviously the
Chargers know it’s more than
just Jaxson Dart. They’ll have to contend with Malik Nabers
downfield with cam and the
physicality that he brings in the run game. But the Chargers
yeah licking their chops to get
out there and play the New York Giants on Sunday should be an
interesting matchup with darts
debut there. Tom points for Omar mentioned cam. We always
love that on this and every
other NFL network show. Omar thank you very much. We will
talk to you again soon.
Quarterback news not as good on the injury front for the
Washington Commanders, who will
not have Jayden Daniels for a second consecutive week. The
commanders officially ruling
out their quarterback today because that knee sprain that
he suffered a couple of weeks
ago, Daniels had expressed that he wanted to go. He was able to
get out there, do limited
practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but the doctors did
not clear him. Dan Quinn has
made clear they’re not putting Jayden Daniels out there until
he can do everything. That time
is not just yet. We’ll see where he is next week. Time now
for good coverage presented by
Progressive Insurance. The Falcons offense has been well,
let’s call it up and down so
far this season. But that defense has been balling. They
are allowing 131 passing yards
per game this season, the fewest in the NFL, and
continued that with A.J.
Terrell out last week. Missed the end of the week two game.
Also inactive for Sunday’s game
against the commanders. Take a look at the Falcons defense
across the board among the best
in the game. Total yards, passing yards, completion
percentage, virtually every
category. It’s a big improvement from where they
were a year ago. Falcons team.
Now that’s trying to figure some things out with Michael
Penix Jr and that offense
moving forward. Meanwhile on Sunday night we’ve got a
Cowboys Packers matchup that is
sure to not disappoint. I bought the Dallas Cowboys with
a handshake handshake. Jerry
Jones said that handshake deal with Micah Parsons. That’s it.
He’d be the highest guaranteed
player on defense. And then we were going to send it over to
the agent. The agent told us to
stick it up a oh, wait, wait, wait. Same way. Did Jerry Jones
take care of their family the
same way? I need to take care of my family. We really got
three years to work this thing
out. I did that with Dak. You, me and Mike have talked. I
don’t have the full answer for
it or I think all mine would have been done a lot earlier
than they were planning. This
media game with Jerry is not fun. But I do want Micah to get
paid. Micah Parsons requested a
trade away from the Cowboys. Jerry, are you considering
trading Micah Parsons?
Negotiation talk. That’s where I put that. If they don’t want
me here, they don’t want me
here. But if this is the end, this is the end. Micah Parsons
to the green Bay Packers $47
million per year. It came quick, but that’s the way things go. I
think a lot of Micah don’t want
him to have success when they play the Cowboys. I do want him
to have overall success. Well,
that was like three months of our lives boiled down into
about a minute right there,
right there. We live that whole thing. And now we get to live
the revenge game. Micah Parsons
back in Dallas as a member of the green Bay Packers. And that
guy licking his lips, licking
his chops and hoping that his team can keep that guy Micah
Parsons, away from his guy, Dak
Prescott, Parsons said. It’s going to be painful if he sacks
Prescott. Here is Dak on
playing Parsons. Micah called you a mentor. He also said it’s
going to be painful sacking you
I don’t know if he meant for him or for you. I hope it’s not
for me. I hope and I hope he
doesn’t get to me for once. So let’s talk about facing Micah
and y’all’s relationship. Yeah,
it’ll be fun. It’ll definitely be fun. Yeah. It’s one me and
my fiance were just talking
about the other day. And just, just all the, the reps of
practice going against Micah,
you know, in times when he couldn’t hit me, whether him
getting back there, just the
trash talk back and forth, me telling you know, he wouldn’t
tackle me anyway. You still
can’t bring me down. You got to get to that point. So just
getting to go out there and
compete with a guy that’s that’s a good friend that
you’ve, that I’ve competed with
in numbers of ways throughout this building. Outside of this
building. Yeah. Just excited to
to go and have that match up. But he’s got five guys up front,
plus tight ends and running
backs that he’s got to get through. So then we’ll worry
about if he can get to me. It’s
all fun and games until that red no contact jersey comes off.
Micah, if he spits in your
direction, don’t spit back, okay? We want you to we want to
see you play this game. All
right. Jane Slater, you live for stuff like this, right?
When you cover the Cowboys like
this is this is the kind of inject it right into my veins.
James Slater Micah Parsons back
in Dallas. Go. Can’t wait to hear this. I wish I could say
that I’m numb to the drama at
this point, Mike. But yes, for a lot of other folks that
aren’t around this 24 over
seven 365, I imagine that there is excitement about Micah
Parsons coming back to Dallas.
I think it’s going to be a little split here in Dallas in
terms of people are very
frustrated. Still with Jerry Jones for giving away one of
your best pass rushers that
you’ve had in over a decade, a generational talent right
before the season. They’ve got
bigger problems right now, namely the fact they don’t have
CeeDee lamb. You know, George
Pickens is expected to have an increased role as a result. He
scored in Chicago’s loss, but
tells me he wishes he had that ball back in the fourth. That
one went right through his
hands and ended Tremaine Edmunds. And despite seeing him
slam his helmet in frustration,
he says he doesn’t ruminate on it too long. And I joked, did
you dent your helmet at all? He
says, nah, it’s pretty tough. He did tell me that because
this Packers front seven
already has ten sacks through three three games, he tells me
they’ll likely blitz. They’ll
send him back her tight front. He says route timing is going
to be huge. Obviously you’re
also going to be using a guy like Kavontae Turpin, who’s
known for his speed, but
getting that ball out of his hands, knowing that that pass
rush is going to be coming. And
being familiar with Micah Parsons game is going to be key
here. Mike Jane just got to
find Cherise Parsons. Who? Micah’s mother who is wearing
Cowboys gear. Week one the
opener in Philadelphia. She had this, like blue shirt with the
white sleeves. I can’t imagine
she’s showing up in cowboy. Who knows. So find her. Hopefully
she’s got her son’s jersey on.
I love that you bring that up, mike, because I reached out to
Micah and this week he said he
tried to get rid of his suite. When he got traded, he offered
up to Kenny Clark. Kenny Clark
didn’t want it. And then Trayvon Diggs told me that
because he’s besties with Micah,
much of his family is going to be in there. And so I said, is
the rule going to be no green
Bay gear? Is it all Cowboys gear? Micah says Trayvon never
tells me what he’s doing. I
don’t know, I asked to get a camera in there, but he says
there’s some people who want
their anonymity, so no camera in there. But maybe we’ll get a
shot from Sunday Night Football
up and to just go in there with the with the glasses, with the
mustache, you can find them in
the prop store. Jamie having the prop department NFL network.
All right. So Trayvon Diggs, he
was off the injury report from what I saw this week. So he’s
expected to go this secondary
like beyond the Micah Parsons stuff. This secondary needs to
cover people. Yeah. They’re
giving up 900 passing yards in just three games. I mean not
exactly something you write
home about. Now I will point out that Darren Bland is really
key here in the secondary and
they’re getting him back. We rarely have seen Trayvon or
Darren Bland on the field
together, Mike, because one of them is always hurt. Diggs, as
you had mentioned, was on the
injury report this week. It said he had a knee. He told me
he had a hamstring issue. It
was tight. He said it was loose in practice and he was full go.
So he is good to play. And he
said the biggest problem with this secondary right now is
they’ve got to be closer in
their zones. In other words, they’ve got to make sure
they’re closer to their man, he
says. With Darren Bland back there, the QB is going to be a
lot more cautious where he
throws the ball. And while Matt Eberflus took particular
frustration with my boy Nick
Harris here, one of the local beat writers, he asked him, Is
Darren going to be playing in
the nickel? He said, I’m not going to give you the game plan.
But Trayvon made sure to tell
me, you know, he can play nickel. So there you go. There
you go. Jane Slater is all over
it. We’ll have all of our coverage for this leading up to
kickoff on Sunday. Come on,
Jane, don’t be numb to it. Come on, feel it, Jane, feel it.
This is what it’s all about.
This is why you lift all them weights. Jane Slater, thank you
very much. Looking forward to
everything you’ve got on this game coming up on Sunday. Adam
Rank is coming up on the
insiders. Cam. Is he a start or is he a sit Rank’s got all his
starts and his sits. And that’s
the way I feel about it. I’m doing backflips in the studio
that’s next to the insiders.

advice ahead of week four in
the fantasy season. In the NFL season, we’re going to do some
starts and some starts and sits
with injuries, injuries or return from injuries. How do
they affect these guys? That’s
the theme here. And the theme whenever Adam Rank is here is
is just awesome. So let’s start
with cam Scarbough. No I’m sorry. We’re starting with
Omarion Hampton. Wrong. Running
back Omarion Hampton with Najee Harris out for the season with
an Achilles injury. Start or
sit Omarion Hampton. Yeah we’re going to get Omarion Hampton
into our lineups. Now that
without Najee Harris there’s going to there’s going to be a
true pathway to two carries in
this offense. You look at what the Chargers want to do. Now
it’s interesting because the
Chargers under under Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman,
they’ve actually passed the
ball with some with quite proficiency. However they’re
still going to go out there and
establish the run. And in a game against the New York
Giants where you expect them to
go out there and get a pretty big lead, the excuse me, the
game script should say that
they’re going to be running the football. So Amari Hampton is
an absolute must start this
week. If you got him dialed up. Oh I got him. And I’ve been
starting them. And I’m hopeful
that the production will continue actually go up. I need
a little bit of help here. Rank.
We’re one and two. We got a win. We got to keep that momentum
going cam not on my team. On
the Giants team after Tyrone Tracy’s injury a dislocated
shoulder. So Cam Scott has
already been taking the lion’s share of the reps for the
Giants in the backfield. Now
this is only going to help right. Yeah this has been one
of those things last week going
into that game, we were kind of a little apprehensive. We were
waiting to see what was going
to be the full rollout with Cam Scott, with his role in this
offense week by week, it had
been continuing to build, but now without having Tyrone Tracy,
they’re ceding some of the
carries away from him. Now we’re going to get a full
complement of cam. Now
obviously you would want a better matchup. The Chargers
are one of the better defenses
in the NFL. But there is no way you’re going to stop me from
starting cam this week. I do
know that again the efficiency might not be as great. He might
not get like a like eight yards
per carry or anything like that. But the touchdown potential
always is there. He is there.
Goal line back. You got to make sure that cam is starting this
week. No vulturing when he is
the goal line back. So that is a great sign right there. Emeka
Egbuka was filling in for Chris
Godwin. Now Godwin’s back and Mike Evans is going to be out
looking like about three weeks
or so for Evans. Buck has been sensational. This has got to be
a keep riding the rookie right.
Absolutely. He’s had at least 12 fantasy points in every game
this season. It will be
interesting to see what happens with the way that the coverage
has rolled towards him. Now.
Obviously being able to play alongside Mike Evans, Mike
Evans still takes the lion’s
share of coverages and things of that nature. But even with
Chris Godwin out there, it
still should open things up for double E out, out on the pitch.
And so for me, I’m looking at
this as a is a must start. However, depending on your
options because I personally GC,
I got a team that has Roma Downs and Micah Ebuka. So I’m
going with Roma, but in most
cases I’m starting double E, I think he’s going to be a really
good option. I still think that
despite the fact that he’s going up against the
Philadelphia Eagles who’ve done
it, they’ve got a really good defense. However, we have seen
some receivers do pretty well
against them, including Davante Adams a week ago. So where the
Eagles have been shutting down
the run you could probably throw on them. Now Patrick
Mahomes and the Chiefs offense.
We came into the season and we expected them to be more than
they expected themselves to be
more explosive. Now, it won’t be the full passing game until
Rashee rice is back in week six,
but Xavier Worthy returns to the lineup. That should help
things, right? Well, not only
that, the matchup against the Baltimore Ravens is pretty good.
We saw last week what Detroit
was able to do, both running and throwing the ball against
this defense. While it is still
a big name defense, it is a it’s a headliner. You go to see
him, but you’re like, hey,
where are the rest of the members of the band? This used
to be one of the greatest bands
of all time. Now they’ve only got the bassist. What is
happening here? I feel pretty
confident in Patrick Mahomes, and with so many starting
quarterbacks out injured,
including Jayden Daniels and J.J. McCarthy, there’s no way
that you’re going to be sitting
Patrick Mahomes this week. We are always starting Adam Rank
when it comes to fantasy advice.
Appreciate you stopping by on a Friday to drop the nugget of
wisdom on us. Have a great week
for in fantasy Adam Rank. And in reality too. I wish you
nothing but the best in all the
realms. You want a baldy breakdown? You got one. He is
going to break down both
defenses that are going to be playing in Ireland this weekend.
A lot to break down when it
comes to Brian Flores and then the Steelers as well. Baldi’s
breakdown. Up next on the
Insiders. Kind of way for me durability. Find yours at Ridge
Comm. Last Sunday was a fun day
for the Vikings defense, and specifically Isaiah Rodgers did
something nobody’s ever done
before. A pick six, a fumble return for a touchdown and
forcing a third turnover. Not
bad for a guy that plenty of people watching had probably
not heard a whole lot about
prior to that game. They got the Steelers up this week. Our
Brian Baldinger has got a
baldis breakdown when we wake up Sunday morning to watch the
Steelers and Vikings play in
Dublin, Ireland. Remember this about these two teams from a
year ago. They tied for the
league lead in takeaways with 33. And oh by the way last week
in week three they both had
five takeaways. All right the top of the leaderboard through
three weeks right now. And if
you watch right here the Minnesota Vikings defense. They
give you a lot of looks. They
disguise their coverages. But eventually they’re going to
rotate here to a two deep five
underneath look zone. Zone coverage right here. All right.
Two deep five under at the
bottom is Isaiah Rodgers. Number two. He’s in the flat
right here. And he’s just
reading the quarterback’s eyes. And when they try to check the
ball down to to chase Brown
it’s an errant throw. He picks it off. And he would pick up a
couple blocks and take it the
distance for the Vikings second touchdown last week to go up 14.
Nothing on the Bengals. And
then if you watch the defensive tackle Jalen Redmond right here
he does a great job here of
taking on the double team keeping his inside arm free and
just punch the ball out of
Samaje Perine hands right there. And Jonathan Allen the
defensive tackle would recover.
All right. They are proficient at taking the ball away. But so
are the Steelers. Last week
Nick Herbig he started for Alex Highsmith at right outside
linebacker. But watch Cam
Heyward right here along with T.J. Watt the three of them
because Heyward is going to
flush Drake Maye right here. And when Drake Maye steps up.
Here comes Nick Herbert with
this sack. Fumble right there. And T.J. Watt gets on right.
That led to the go ahead
touchdown of the Steelers a week ago. And if you go back
two weeks you watch Jalen
Ramsey right here. The Seattle Seahawks are running this
stacked route combination right
here. And Jalen Ramsey is going and looking back at Sam Darnold.
He sees he’s going to the out
right here. He jumps right in front of it to taking the ball
away. So I think when we watch
this game on Sunday morning the key may might very well be who
takes the ball away more. Who
wins that turnover battle between the Vikings and the
Steelers. Whoever does might
come out on top. Great stuff as always from Brian Baldinger
Baldi’s breakdowns only here on
The Insiders, only on NFL network, Vikings and Steelers.
9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Grab
your eggs, sausage and a little bit of football for breakfast.
Our Judy Battista is already in
Dublin, caught up with Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin the
third. Calvin, I know you’ve
been here in Dublin. How’s it been so far the first few hours
off the plane? It’s been great.
You know it was in good to, you know, get outside and get get
the move. And after the long
flight I slept the whole way. So. So that was nice. But it’s
been cool to just see how warm
we’ve been welcomed here. And it’s just been a great to just
get be be back here. You know,
a little bit, I’m sure, about the history of the franchise
and the Rooney family. What
does it mean to be a part of the team that’s playing the
first regular season game here?
Like you said, the history, you know it definitely stands out
and is very you know for why
we’re here. And just to be representing not only their
family but this this
organization is something that’s very cool and it’s just
cool to be a part of history.
We heard Coach Tomlin talk about like take it easy
physically, but they need you
locked in mentally. What’s your plan for the rest of the day.
Maybe recovery rest. What are
you going to do. Some of all you know you know some some
recovery stuff for sure. Eat
some food. Spend time with the guys. My family is here, so
I’ll go eat eat with them for
sure. And, you know, just kind of just be present, you know,
just enjoying where I’m at,
just seeing the surroundings and stuff and just just taking
it slow because, you know, and
with opportunities like this, that’s just what you kind of
want to do is just, just just
take it all in. And so I just want to take full advantage of
it. All right. Let me ask you a
few questions about the game. You guys are Yak Kings right
now the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But what do you need to do to get those big chunk plays down
the field going? You know, just
continue to be honed in on our D our details and assignments.
You know, when we look back at
film on some of the the missed opportunities, I would say it
was just come down to just like
one little, one little misstep alignment or just something
very small. So just continuing
to in the midst of the game to be locked in. And I think those
big plays will come. We keep
hearing Aaron say like it’s a work in progress. It’s a work
in progress. It’s still coming.
Where do you think this offense is right now? You know, I think
we’re right where we’re
supposed to be. Would we want to have, you know, more yards,
more touchdowns, of course. But
I think even when we do get to that point, we’re still going
to want more and want to be
better. But I think we’re right where we need to be. We’re
having the right conversations,
we have the right people in the room. And so, like I said, it’s
just a matter of taking what we
do in meetings and how we practice and just and just
finally letting it show on the
field. Because like I said, we got the right mix of everything.
So it’s just about just putting
it on display. All right. Last one, how meaningful would it be
for the Steelers to get the
first regular season victory here in Dublin? It’d be it’d be
big for the Rooney family or
this organization. It’ll be big. And then just for us to, you
know, get get back on track
like you said this, this is considered a home game for us.
So you always want to protect
home. And this may be not, you know, Pittsburgh home, but it’s
kind of an extension of
Pittsburgh. So and anytime you’re at home you definitely
want to protect it. And so
that’s what we came here to do. Great Calvin thanks. Get some
rest. Thank you I will
appreciate you. Absolutely. Another robust international
