Jerry Jones HINTS At Cowboys Trades Before NFL Trade Deadline | Dallas Cowboys Trade Rumors, Targets
[Music] Coming up on today’s Cowboys report, Jerry Jones hinting at more trades potentially, maybe. We’ll see for the Dallas Cowboys cuz Jerry wants to make the playoffs and thinks the Cowboys are a playoff team. For more news, updates, trade ideas, targets, everything else in between between now and the NFL trade deadline, hit that sub button. YouTube.com/cowboys TV for more free Cowboys YouTube videos. Here’s what Jerry Jones said after the loss against the Bears. If I had the opportunity to really do something good wi with those picks, I would do it. we’ve got them. And that’s one of the advantages or the advantages to making the trade. You’ve got to have something that comes with that’s really special. And if you’ve got the currency to do it, which in this case would be draft picks, we’ll do it. Look, for starters, let’s just ignore the irony of wanting to trade picks for something special since you just did the opposite of that. Ignoring that, the thought process actually is correct from Jerry. I am not interested with this addition of the Dallas Cowboys team to do a trade just to do a trade. I I don’t think that’s actually good roster management right now. If I can get that type of special player. I don’t know if you can find one right now because there’s a reason you don’t see many trades happen this time of the year outside of maybe the trade deadline move or something crazy. You don’t see it happen that often. It has to be a young player. It needs to be a key position of need, which right now is insert almost every single defensive spot and obviously be good. You know, I’m not let’s not do another Jonathan Mingo trade. No, I don’t know if that works out. If you can get that type of longerterm asset, then I’m very interested there. I don’t know if a rental right now is actually in the Cowboys best interest. We’ll come back to a few spots in particular that I know have been popular discussion points online, but will the Cowboys make a trade? Why for yes, N for no? Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Get those predictions in. Y for yes, N for no. Now, there have been many, including me, who have suggested, hey, maybe the Cowboys should consider a trade for a running back. That was more in the past on May, but there’s still plenty out there who want to go trade for the running back one right now. And I’ve seen some names thrown out there. Alvin Kamar because the Saints are bad. Bree Hall of the Jets cuz the Jets are bad. Devon A of the Dolphins who that’s the one I’d have because he’s a little bit more under contract. He’s still affordable. He’s super young, explosive. I I dig his game a lot. First off, I don’t know if they’re on the market. You know, the Dolphins, Saints, and Jets could have various fire sales. The Jets and Bree Hall make the most sense, but I don’t actually know if the Cowboys need a running back the way that I thought they were going to. Now, if you wanted to, you could get Alvin Kamar from the Saints. You could get Bree Hall from the Jets. You could get Devon H from the Dolphins. You start waving around your first round picks. Okay, teams will be interested. That doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. So, I I do want to emphasize that more so than most years, that the current cost is what matters here because you have to keep an eye on big picture and not just the running back short-term stuff. And the short-term stuff, as we’ll get into, Javante Williams has been pretty good. We’ll talk about that here more in depth in just a second. But today’s show is made possible by prize picks. You and I make decisions every day, but on prize picks, being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this season on prize picks where it is good to be right. It’s simple to play. You pick more or less on two to six player staff projections. You get those picks right, you could cash in. It’s available in more than 40 plus states, including California, Texas, and Georgia. This is what actually producer Aiden cooked up. And I I I love this this prize picks lineup here. you can get your max discount. I know it’s Jaylen Herz, but it’s it’s a half passing yard. You have to put it in. Jake Ferguson more than 49 and a half receiving yards. He’s going to be heavily involved. And we might not like it, but Micah Parson’s more than three quarters. I each will just get one sack. I love this lineup. Go download the Prize Pix app today and you can ride it or fade it at prizepix.com/lns and use code cls to get 50 bucks in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get 50 bucks in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks, it’s good to be right. Links in the comments section and the description of today’s show. Let’s look at Javvante Williams, who I was at best, honestly, lukewarm about how how good I thought he was going to be. I’ve been blown away in a good way. 43 carries, 227 yards, 5.3 average yards per carry, one touch or three touchdowns. Did have the bad fumble loss. Some advanced metrics here, uh, per NFL pro, uh, and these are all among running backs only, so I’m not including quarterback stuff. seventh in yards among backs going into Thursday Night Football. 11th in yards per carry, tied for second in touchdowns. He’s eighth in rushing yards over expected per carry, which is based on after contact and also how the blocking looks up. There’s some really good player tracking stuff on on NFL Pro. Uh third in yards after contact and first in success rate, which is relative to down in distance. Was this a good play for your offense? They’ve actually run the ball super well. The problem against the Bears was the game got out of hand so quickly you you just you weren’t able to run the ball anymore. Like that that was a game script issue as the Cowboys have forced other teams into in the past. I haven’t been overly impressed by my Sanders. At some point I want to see Jaden Blue get involved. 2026 Sanders and Williams are free agents so we can have this running back conversation again. But short-term right now, I think you have significantly bigger issues in Dallas, especially on the other side of the ball, which we’ll dive into here momentarily. So, I don’t really want to, you know, shoot my wad at a running back right now. I I think that there’s better options to to if you wanted to go get help. So, with that in mind, name a player who you want to trade for. It could be any position. Let’s keep it realistic. Like, yes, I’d still have to go trade for Josh Allen or Justin Herbert or Mahomes, whatever. That’s it’s not realistic. You have a player for me in the comments section of today’s show. The the area that stands out to me that is both obviously in need of help, we’ll see how much Jadeon Clowny contributes this week, and I think kind of doable actually, it’s edge rusher that which of course it is, right? Some trade targets I’ve seen floated out there. If the Bengals keep collapsing, wouldn’t be shocked if Trey Hendrickson ends up being available, but he’s old, expensive, and wants a new contract. Bradley Chub is expensive next year, under contract, but is cheap right now. The Dolphins might be in fireale mode. I bet they will be willing to trade away Jaylen Phillips, his teammate, as well, but he’s also with one year left on his contract. He’s been banged up a lot last year. You almost wonder that was like that Chase Young trade years ago of just a rental and not commit to it. I’ve seen Denil Hunter thrown out there. Houston is trying to win games right now with their young franchise QB. I don’t think they’re going to trade him. They also just paid him. Like if you start waving around the first round pick, okay, you could definitely get one of those guys for sure. Is that a good idea though? Like there’s no doubt they help, but at what cost? I’ll go in depth on that in a second. But do you want just in general the Cowboys to make a trade right now? One for yes, zero for no. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Do you want the Cowboys to go out and make a trade? Big picture, I want to emphasize this stuff on any and all said only one and two. Right now, there is no doubt the Cowboys could make a trade happen if they wanted to. You got two first round picks. you’ve got the ammunition to go do something if you want to. That doesn’t mean you should. You know, we should learn our lesson from Jurassic Park. You shouldn’t be so obsessed with what you can do that you’ve thought about what you should do. The question is, can you find the value that makes sense for the reality of where this team is at right now? We have to be able to selfcout, self-identify. something I don’t think the Cowboys have been particularly adept at over the last couple of seasons. The core issue that I don’t like saying, but I do think we need to acknowledge is this Cowboys team might not be good enough. A trade helps you, but for how much in terms of help and for how much in terms of the cost? The Cowboys timelines right now are all screwed up. The offense, who of course made the trade to go get George Pickkins, a win now move, they’re built to win now. Like the offense in and of itself is at minimum playoff caliber. The defense right now ain’t close. Your DTS are better. I I overall like your defensive tackle room, but your edge rusher room isn’t. Your linebacker room isn’t. Your quarterback room in part of in in part because of injuries isn’t. your safety room isn’t it? You need what we’re asking like another edge at a linebacker, you know, maybe a corner, a safety or two. That’s a lot to do and change and make competent enough in late September. Trading Micah, despite what the Jones boys tried to gaslight us into believing, it meant you hurt your 2025 chances. You were never going to be as good on defense without him. So now you have to kind of reevent what are our short-term and long-term goals. I think unfortunately your best path and I change your mind until the trade deadline. You don’t have to make a decision right now. You can kind of let things play out which is what you should be doing too is maybe you use this as a kind of setting the base year and then next year, next off season when you still have the the trades, the picks, you still have more options available. Maybe then you start to be a little bit aggressive. Right now they’re just disjointed because your offense and Dak Prescott are built to win now, but the defense isn’t. And do you want to blow all your assets when you might not have the right personnel on the coaching staff on that side of the ball? I think you’re probably going to be best off keeping your powder dry and keeping those assets for the off season. Now, that sucks to say when you’ve got 32-year-old Dak Prescott playing at a pretty high level on an individual basis. You’re not maximizing your window, but you already made the decision to not maximize your window in 2025 when you traded away Micah Parsons. That’s the reality. You can still have all the go get a safety, go get a corner, go get an edge, go. It’ll be easier maybe and probably will be easier to go do that in the off season. You might just have to take your medicine right now. And that part isn’t fun. [Music]

Cowboys Report host Tom Downey on the Cowboys trade rumors: There’s no doubt the Cowboys COULD make a trade happen if they really wanted to do so. The question here is can they find proper value that makes sense for where this team is at. The Cowboys might be better off holding and seeing how the next few games play out. Getting better, especially on defense, is very doable … but getting better enough might be tough.

N
0 no trade!
Let those first round picks bring in young defensive picks after they get rid of Eberflus
0
Sign Pickens to an extension and draft defense with first round picks after
I would trade a 1st and 4th and Diggs for Surtain from Denver.
Rebuilding will take too long! Dallas needs a QB and is not Dak
Javonte has been pretty good? Considering that the lineman in front of him suck super hard, he's having an all time season.
They should be sellers not buyers
We don’t need a running back Williams looks good we need defense!!
I mean Kenny Clark was a great addition and we got two first rounds
Breaking news: Cowboys trade 2 first round picks for Trey Hendrickson. Lmao
Malik Collins is playing All World for the Browns this year. Too bad you didn't keep him, Jerah.
Please don’t throw these picks away thinking you’re 1 piece from contention
If Jerry can get Hendrickson and get him signed we’ll be in really good shape. We’ll have a really good DT, a really good pass rusher, and draft capital from the Micah trade. I’d be equally happy with Bradley Chubb dude is a beast.
I’m not even sure I’d want to do a trade. Is this team/ season even worth trading anything for.
1
Justin Simmons and Jeffrey Simmons no relations 😂
My EX BamaBoy Alvin Kamara
Would be nice
Yes make a trade but not our 1st round picks later picks and a player Jerry 🙏🏾don't be stupid
Devon Witherspoon or Jamal dean? Not sure their contract situations or maybe Terrell from
Atlanta?
I don't think they will honestly. N
They really need CB and Safety Help, maybe linebacker help.
Why does it sound like the microphones inside of your mouth?
Riley moss
We need defense
😂🤦♂️ We dont need any other RB. That Micah trade really fucked your head up bad guy. Williams has been balling out this season, and Sanders has done legit for our backup RB spot. Man, why talk about trading for RBs? Hall isn't even close to Williams. Then your acting like Trey Hendrickson is wanting too much money, yet he is 1000 times better than Micah. 17.5 sacks in 2023 and 17.5 sacks in 2024. You're acting like we shouldn't go after Trey because he wants a lot of money? Yeah, he deserves to be either 1 or 2, highest paid. 17.5 sacks in 2023 and 17.5 sacks in 2024 (He Led the NFl in sacks by 3.5 more than #2 Myles Garret 14 sacks in 2024) its hilarious hearing yall cry like babies when Micah wasn't getting his bag than say Trey wants to much money. Micah 14 sacks in 2023 and 12 in 2024 and never has had more than 15 sacks in a season and never lead the league in sacks. Micah is overrated when talking about sacks, he gets held and cant get off the hold. Because he's not got the strength that Myles Garret Nick Bosa Tj Watt and Trey Hendrickson does. Trey deserves that bag more than Micah deserved it. Trey is a wrecking machine. Yet you dont hear grown ass men cry for Hendrickson, I wonder why that is? Well it's not hard to see why.
Does anyone think the Houston Texans will trade Danielle Hunter? And if so what would they ask for?
I hope jerry trades himself
