Top of my head, Martin at PF. Gabe/Strus/Dunc all played SF somehow. On the flip side, Winslow was supposed to be our starting PG in 2019 😭
Hell, Bam is at his best being a PF (see 2019-2020 run and paired with Olynyk).
This is really a scheme / personnel issue… or choice depending on how you see it. After all, it is Erik Spoelstra and the Big 3 that was experimenting and popularizing “positionless basketball” in the past 12 to 15 years.
However, we definitely swung too hard in that direction. Bam did really well at Center for us when you look at the big picture but we sorely needed more length and rebounding on the floor at times.
Yea the Heat should definitely take after what the Nets do lol…
He’s playing the 4 in this lineup? Terrance Mann is 6’5 and has been a SG his whole career. You think MPJ is battling for rebounds down low? Lol
Bam only played 5,because we didn’t have a proper stretch big after losing Kelly and Leonard. PJ was the next best thing we had, and he was like 6’5″ so Bam still played 5.
In the big 3 days, Bosh was the key to us playing small or big, because he’s a stretch big. He could play 4 with guys like Anthony next to him, practically giving us two 7 footers on the lineup. Or play small ball center.
We never replaced Bosh. He was the glue to those Big 3 teams. He was the most irreplaceable element of those Spoelstra teams.
That’s why we have guys like Martin, Kelly, PJ starting at 4. Miami had guys that had the skillsets Spo was looking for at the 4, Miami also had the guys Spo was looking for at the 4, never had one that had both since CB went down.
And overall, the roster building is bad.
Aaron Gordon looking like prime Shaq in game 1 of the finals because we got fucking Gabe Vincent on him in the paint was absurd.
Think nets start their top 10 rookie instead of HH….
This lineup has Haywood at the 3 or 4 though.
PG and primary ballhandler is Cam, Terrence Mann is 6’5″ and has primarily played SG his entire career, MPJ is historically a SF despite his height, and Clax plays the 5.
