Kings fired Mike Brown months after he signed an extension. Nick Nurse was fired a year after firing an extension. Budenholzer had a couple years left on his contract.

I’ve never seen a coach get extended with 3 years left on their contract. Maybe it’s happened because coaching contract news isn’t as consistent or public. But publicly this seems like the earliest extension ever given to a coach.
