Let’s talk about preventing hamstring tears with football players. The single leg glute bridge will strengthen your hamstrings and glutes. Lie on your back with one foot on the ground and the other leg extended. Push through the grounded heel to lift your hips, keeping the leg extended in line with your body. Hold at the top, then lower slowly. The Romanian deadlifts build eccentric hamstring strength and reinforce proper hip hinge mechanics. Stand with dumbbells or a barbell. Hinge at your hips with a soft bend in the knees. Lower the weight down the front of your legs and return to standing using your hamstrings and glutes. For walking lunges with hamstring emphasis, take long strides into a forward lunge, leaning slightly forward at the hips. Focus on pushing off the heel of the front leg to engage the hamstrings. Santa High School homecoming tonight. Scotlandville versus Santa. And it ought to be a good game and it ought to be a lot of fun as a new homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime to go along with the king. And so we’ll have that for you. But first, we’re going to have the game. And uh it ought to be a good game. These two teams have a little bit of a history from last season. But the two coaches, well, this is a firstear coach at Scotlandville, so that’s a new setup from last season. The coach at Scotlandville is Richard Oliver, and uh he is in his first season. As I said, he’s one and two career here at Scotlandville. And then you got David Oliver. I’m assuming no relation these two guys, but David Oliver is in his 18th year with the Gator and he is the winningest coach in the history of the Santa program 112 and 71. Now, as I said, these two teams played last season and Santa won that game. They lead the all-time series 1 to nothing. Santa had a big comeback win last season as they won 39-38 and that kind of sparked their season and put them on that big streak that helped them win a share of the district title last year. And then last week these two teams played games and they both won. Santa beat John F. Kennedy 21 to 12 and Scotlandville beat McKinley 35 to nothing. And so now I’m going to turn it over to my partner, Coach Swack, and he’s going to tell you what he thinks is important about tonight’s game, the keys to victory. We’ll start with uh Scotlandville Hornets. Keys of victory. Uh number one, they have to slow down the Gator offense, making a lot of big plays. You know, uh Cooper Babin, the quarterback, has rushed for over 200 yards, thrown for over 600 yards, and we’re in week four right now. Uh the other one, the offensive line for Santa has to perform well. Uh they are very big across the front. They’ve done a very great good job of protecting the quarterback, helping out in the run game uh greatly. So that’s going to be a big key right there and keep pressure uh on their quarterback as cuz he is a very very good football player and uh so coach Dykes and his group coaches going to have to uh really uh be up on their toes and in stopping the Scotlandville uh quarterback and the Santa quarterback for uh for Santa uh the big big plays for the Santa Keys. Eliminate costly mistakes. 10 or 12 or 13 are too many penalties. Uh consistency on both sides of the ball, offensively and defensively. And one of the big thing that has really been very noticeable is kickoff coverage has been uh a little bit weak. And I know they’re working very very hard on improving that uh for each uh kickoff team. And coach, that’s something that coach Oliver told me as well when I did the coaches show with him this Sunday as he said that in the first three weeks of the season, they’ve given up touchdowns on kick returns all three weeks. And so that’s they’ve given up a lot of scores. That was the only score in the bird game. That was half the points in the Kennedy game and then Cecilia had done one as well. So that’s that’s really critical as we are getting ready to see the Gators head through the Gator head tunnel and we we should be able to get a great shot of that entrance on homecoming night in just a minute as the team still going through the back tunnel to get to the Gatorhead. So, I think we’re pretty close to getting the Gators out there. Well, you got those uh fancy lights in the pit here flashing on and off. Uh means it’s about game time for both teams. Uh Scotlandville already on their sideline. Love these LED lights because they can just do whatever you want for them. You can program them to do anything. Kind of like you see at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. as the Gators are coming out on homecoming night. [Music] Always have that little smoke situation. Done a good job over the years coming through the tunnel dressing in the Santaal Middle Gym. And you see Jake Voisan coming through with the team as a a great shot of the Gator and a good look at the spirit that you have here at Santa High School. This is my first game out here this season at the pit and I always look forward to that as I’m here for homecoming night. I get to do a lot of the homecoming games. So, I I’m going to enjoy that tonight. And it should be a good homecoming game because a lot of times you get an opponent that may not be too competitive. Scotlandville is a competitive team. They’re a 5A school, so it should be an interesting game here tonight, coach. Well, you know, just exactly what you said. you know, Santa’s homecoming record, a lot of times it’s a little easier, but you know, I know in from my times as a head coach, the school board got involved in, you know, h how we’re going to organize uh homecomings. We don’t want everybody to have the same homecoming on the same game. And so, basically, it was out of your hands as a coach. And so, but but coach Oliver has continued the tradition. 40 and seven homecoming games. Very good job. They’ve uh won 10 in a row. And um 14 of the last 15 home homecoming games. And you can see the king has already been crowned. That’s part of what they do on their Thursday night homecoming pep rally. That’s the tradition at Santa. And the king is Rashad Williams. and the queen we will crown at halftime. We don’t know who it is yet when we find out. We’ll find out the same time that y’all will. So get ready for that later tonight as we getting ready for the coin toss. And the captains on the Santa side, number 16, that would be Cole Maroy. Number 55, Legend Elaine 56 and four. 56 is Colton Netto and number four is Riley Rzuto. And on the Scotlandville side, you have number 62 and don’t have that name for you. Number 32. Also don’t have that one. Number 26, Gabe Williams. And number three, Jard Green. I’m telling you, you know, talking with coach Oliver, this is a very good football team. Yes. Scotlandville. They play in the same uh 5A league as uh your Zachary and your Central State champion Central. Uh and uh so it’s going to be interesting to see just ex exactly how they progress because they are a throwing team and they are attacking team on defense and I it’s going to be so crucial for that that front five and if a if a tight end’s involved Ladner uh to be able to come in there and help out protect uh for the quarterback to throw and then it you know the thing that’s going to be critical for Babin to be able to re realize that they are coming. We got to throw maybe if you want to call it a hot route or smaller route, a shorter route. And here’s the sides shaking hands. And we’ll be ready for this kickoff here in just a second. As you see, the Gator will get the ball. And uh this is an interesting matchup as you got the black and gold versus the black and gold. And so in case you want to know who is wearing the dark colors, the home team always wears the dark colors. So that means that Santa will be wearing the black jerseys and Scotlandville will be wearing the white jerseys as we’re going to go to the public address announcer for the prayer and the national anthem. You have the to you, Lord. We pray for great sportsmanship, Lord. Um, and that we would just go out and just have a great game tonight, Lord. Um, we pray that you would just watch over us, that you would protect us, that you keep us safe from injury, Lord. We love you, and it’s in Jesus name that we pray and play. Amen. Please remain standing for the presentation of colors. Today’s colors are being presented by the Santa High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. Your color guard members are national flag cadet Grant Wells, state flag cadet Olivia Cligo. Cadet Jordan Medine is the right rifleman and your left rifleman, Cadet Alexander Evans. Ready, cut. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] So the prayer and the national anthem and presented by the color guard cadet Grant Wells, Cadet Olivia Kletico, right rifleman Jordan Medine, and left rifleman Alexander Evans. And so we are ready for the opening kickoff as the Gators are gonna take offense to start this game and they are going to operate from right to left. And since we have a second uh let’s go through the uh starting offensive lineup for the Santa Gator. And they are led by one of the best quarterbacks that come out of this area for a while, Cooper Babin. And then in the back field, you’re going to see Jordan Hickerson. And then the receivers, Jericho Millian, Quinn Delasar, Caven Taylor, and Cooper Ladner. Offensive line, Ethan Leau, Carter Babin, Legend Elaine, Sam Palacios, and Kaden Tan. And it looks like back to receive are going to be Hickerson and I believe number 11, Isaiah Johnson. for the Gator and 23 Henry Brown is kicking off. So correction make the second returner number 11 Cooper Tomplay also and we are underway and it’s going to be a short kick and it’s taken by an upback at the 30 and he gets free past the 40 and forward momentum will get him past the 45 yd line. to great field position after the nice return by number nine Landon Blanchard, senior wide receiver quarterback for the Gator. And now, if you haven’t seen him yet this season, you’re in for a treat as Cooper Babin is going to lead this Santa offense. And they’ll be in this spread formation with four wide receivers, sometimes five, and very good running back in Hickerson. And we are ready to start. First and 10 from the 47. First play from scrimmage. Hickerson cuts right. He’s got room and he’s got a first down. So Hickerson, the leading rusher, came in with 279 yards rushing on the season. He’s up to 290 now after that carry. First down for the Gator. And you know, a lot of times it’s a read in there for the quarterback, but you’re you’re asking basically five offensive linemen to block three down linemen. And you have defensive ends or outside backers that are playing out a little wider. So those A gaps are pretty good, pretty open. Babin flushed, throws sideline. A catch made for another first down. And that catch made I believe by number four Riley Ruto. Rudo. Nice catch on the outside there by Rudo. Look at scrambling away. And this is the key right here. If you’re going to play quarterback or you want your son to play quarterback, don’t just run to get yardage. Run to see what’s going downfield. I saw Rudo open through it. Nice catch by Rudo. Picked up about 12 or 13 on the play. Two in the back field and it’s a quarterback. keeper and he is inside the 10. Has one man to beat and is tackled at the last moment by number 12. Watch this right there. It’s a read and everybody’s blocking everybody inside. You want to go out here and pitch the ball off of somebody, but there’s nobody there except that’s the free safety comes over to make the tackle. Right. That’s Green that made the tackle. the touchdown saving tackle. And Cooper looked over at his dad. He said, “Let’s run that play again. I think we’re going to hand that rock off right there to that running back.” And Hickerson dances around and is in for the Santa touchdown. So, the first touchdown on the night for the Gator on homecoming night goes to Jordan Hickerson. You know, this this is going to be to me a big key to the game because I’m not going to say it’s a high-scoring game. You know, that’s just a guess. I haven’t seen Scotlandville play one down of football. Okay. But I’m going to tell you last week it was important these extra points and Santa’s good at the extra point situation. You got uh co that’s the snap right there by uh uh the referee and it’s it is good. There’s no flag for contact. Ladner, Ladner’s your you’re deep guys snapping the ball. Leblon with the extra point. It’s seven to nothing as you see the homecoming court happy. Let’s take a break. You are watching the Rev game of the week. Supreme service, supreme selection, and supreme savings are all at Supreme Chevy and Gonzalez. Shop Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban. Traverse tracks and more. Win every time when you ride with the winning team at Supreme Chevy and Gonzalez. Oh man, I did not get that right. Welcome back to the Rev game of the week. Seven to nothing Santa with the lead after the touchdown by Hickerson and Scotlandville ready to return to kickoff. Back deep. Dwayne Ben for Scotlandville getting ready for the kickoff coming from LeBlanc. This right here is important. Very good kick. Right. And you know every coach Oliver is there going get that ball in the end zone. So the defensive starters for Santa, they’re going to run a three four with four defensive backs. The defensive line, you got Kyler Rock, Noah Jenkins, and Jeremy Watley. Linebackers, Cole Mroy, Kent Pearson, Miles Abear, and Anden Miiet. Defensive backs Cedric Jones Jr. and Clarence Jackson. And the safeties DJ Shawnberg and MJ Dunn. So, let’s see what the Santa defense. You’re going to line line up here with a tight end wing to this side. Possible run this way. So, quick hand off up the middle and a few yards. He’s going to pick up actually six on the carry. So, that’s going to bring up second down and four. Well, that was a nice uh first down play by the Hornets, Coach Oliver on both sidelines. That’s right, Oliver and Oliver. And you see the quarterback right there, Jard Green, number three. Hand off up the middle and a first down for Shawn Chester for Scotlandville. Number six again. This looks like coach Oliver said, “Coach Oliver from Santa, if you can run the ball, we can run the ball.” And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Making good enough plays to get a first down very quick out to the 35 yd line. They spotted at about the 34. So first and 10 for Scotlandville. Hand off up the middle again and good running right up the middle again Shan Chester. So that’s going to be going to get four yards on the carry to the 38. So a good answer so far just pounding the rock right up the middle for that Scotlandville offense Hornets. And you know, sometimes it starts out like this. You know, defensively and offensively, you kind of get get used to what’s going on right here. And you can’t close your eyes on these outside receivers. Yeah. You don’t want to put them to sleep with that those runs and then get a sneaky little pass out there on play action. And on second down, it’s going to be third and short. Sean Chester gets about two yards shy of the first down. It’s going to be third down about 2 and 1/2 yds to go as we are just 4 minutes in and already Santa with a 7 to nothing lead over the Hornets. This is probably a running situation right here. Well, it could be a running situation, but it could be just what uh Cooper Babin pulled out. A little fake and go uh to the outside. So, Green at quarterback, Chester Delone back in the back field now. The two receivers set right from the left hash and it’s going to be another first down. So, they’re just forcing that ball down the throw to that Gator defense. And so, running some clock as well, and that’s something that you want to do to keep that explosive Santa offense off the field. Limit the time on the field. That’s a that’s got to be the strategy on for the other coach Oliver on the far sideline. Don’t get confused there, Jeff. Well, if I say coach Oliver, I’m going to be right. Can’t beat it. We got a shotgun. And now there’s that deep pass and man coverage. And it’s dropped by number one Dwayne Ben. And good coverage back there. Good man coverage by the DB as you see right there. Maybe got his hands on the defender, but no flag. And so we’re going to call that clean. Clarence Jackson on the coverage and actually step for step with him. You know, the ball was under thrown and uh you know, Jackson did a good job of turning, picking up the ball and no contact there for the interference. did a good job on the coverage. Early score in our other game of the week. Prairieville leads Dutchtown by a score of seven to nothing in the first quarter. Second down and there’s a handoff and close to another first down. I tell you what, that offensive line, you talked about how big they were. They’re doing a great job getting Shawn Chester some some yardage up the middle. And now they’re going to do a little hurry up on third and three. And Chester first down and then some. He is just a bowling ball down there. And Santa having trouble getting him. Finally taken down by number 22 Cedric Jones Jr. Well, Santa’s playing that three forward defense and uh you know it’s got to start with the down lineman can’t get moved backwards into the linebacker’s flow. So, this is a great start for the Hornets as we head to the hydration break and we’re going to have it right here. So, at the 6-minute mark, it’s 7 nothing Santa. We’re going to keep it here and we’re going to take a look at the homecoming court during this hydration break. Got some great shots to share with you right here. Jessica Graham, Gracie Guillot, Addie, Emma Young, and Jade Venet. Then you have Josie Leon, Addison Blanchard, Brooklyn Leblon, and Ella Young. And then Sophia Hernandez, Ally Cunningham, Olivia Woram, and Riley Gonzalez. And one of those girls will be crowned homecoming queen at halftime. So, we’re going to see them again several times tonight. You’ve already seen them in the stands. Great uh great shot after the Santa touchdown at the end of the first quarter. Jolie Leblanc will also get another look at them when we head to the end of the quarter. But right now, we’re going to come back from the hydration break as the Hornets are driving. Very impressive drive on the ground. Quarterback trying to fade to the end zone and just in and out of the hands. There’s a nice pass and trying to get it to Ben. But number 22 on the coverage, Cedric Jones, good job. I’m going to tell you what, that was outstanding coverage right there. Running stride for stride with him. Yes. Number one, incomplete. So, it’s going to be after the incompletion, second down and 10. Over at Spartan Stadium tonight, Denim Springs is playing East Ascension. Denim has the lead 10 to nothing. Now, what I’m noticing here is we have a personal foul penalty called against the Hornets. So, that’s going to push him back 15 yds. Didn’t see what the what it was, but it’s going to be first and 25. So, the ball now pushed back to the 48. And so this ground and pound offense that they’ve been doing, they might be in a hole right here because it’s going to be difficult to get 25 yards on the ground perhaps. But I think they’ve already proven they can do that. Yes. And uh but I think you know this is going to be a a good a big series for the Gator right here seeing if they could stop uh this offense running and throwing. Now it’s marked as second down. So it must have been a penalty after the play was blown dead as the quarterback trying to turn the corner for the first time. And Jannard Green taken down. Boy, I’m going to tell Aiden Miet. Mhm. What a great play coming from the safety spot. I mean, had to run up 15 or 20 yards and the co the quarterback is supposed to be a very very good runner and did a great job right there breaking down and making the tackle by Mad. Lost three yards. That was the first time they tried to go outside the tackle box and Santa was up to the task. Well, now it’s third and 28 from the 48 yd line. Scenville’s own 48 yd line. And they have to get to the Santa 24 to get to a first down. Long ways to go. Now Chester has proven he can get some yards. I don’t know if he can get 28 of them, but they’re going to talk about it as we have a timeout called on the field. First timeout called by Scotlandville. And so we’re going to stay here for this break and talk about what’s going on in 55A. And Santa is the only un undefeated team in district 55A. They’re also the only team in 55A that’s not playing a 55A district game tonight as they get the first buy. And you know why, Jeff? Why is that? Cuz there are seven teams in the district, of course. And somebody’s got to have a buy. And Santa gets the first buy. This is all picked. Yep. You know, the year before when, you know, last year it happened. Santa had the first buy and then now they will repic. Yep. And somebody else is liable to have, you know, first, second, third, fourth. Just like Prairieville has a what buy? Right. 10th. You see Denim and they are expected to be a strong team in district. Dutchtown’s always good. East Ascension’s back on the rise it appears. Live Oak, Prairieville, and Walker, they are one and two on the season. Now, I did talk to Coach O about the uh about having the first buy. And I asked him, are there any advantages to having that? And I’ll tell you about what he said after the play. So, it’s third and a lot. Third and 28 and they’re just going to run Chester up the middle and he’s going to get some of it about seven still going to be about fourth and 21. So coach what uh I asked him if he had any if there are any advantages and he didn’t give any answer like well I think it’s better for us because we get a week off or anything like that. The thing that he said, and I I can understand why he said that, he liked having the first week off because it’s easier to schedule a non district game in that first week because once you get later in the season, it’s hard to find a team that has an off week that has that’s on the same week. Yeah. And and wait till uh you pick week number 10 to be off. Yeah. I mean, that’s a tough one. You got so many good teams that want to Well, let’s wait on this punt. It’s good punt. and it’s taken at the 21 yd line and then he’s down right there. So that was done on the punt return. But you know, week 10, you just can’t find a game, right? People would rather have a buy and you know Santa High School coach Oliver, you know, he’s sitting here looking, you know, we have a lot of money that we have to make to support 150 football players. So yeah. So, uh, you know, everybody has their certain ins and outs about, you know, what buy to take. Uh, and, you know, I’m sure, you know, it’ll be interesting. You don’t have that each and every week. You know, you had that, um, for, uh, and right here, you got five receivers, shotgun, quick pass caught by Hickerson. No, he dropped it. So, it’s going to be incomplete. incomplete. So Hickerson lined up in the slot right there. So that was a uncovered receiver to a certain extent. You know, Praville like you you were talking about has week 10 in the buy. And who are they playing week 10? St. Thomas Aquinus. I remember that game last year. Not a It was a great game for Uville. Yep. Now Hickerson’s in the back field and he’s going to try to cut outside. But a good job shoing tackle from behind by number 90 for the Hornets. Cory Coleman, senior defensive lineman number. So that’s going to be third down and long. Third down and eight for the Gator. Now you got three receivers to the right as a corner sprints to the sideline. trying to gets out in time. Well, you see 17 out here. It’s a possibility this guy could come and you tackle a running back’s got to pick him up and he’s coming on the pressure, but Babin gets away and he’s got a hole up the middle now. Cuts outside. He’s got a first down to the 43 yd line. And Cooper Babin is the number two rusher on this team. Hickerson’s the leader with 279, but Babin’s got 261. Yeah. And uh 261 is not scramble like that. Yes. It’s like that that that run to the 5 yd line is what most of it is designated running the quarterback. It’s great to have a uh double threat in that quarterback spot. And there’s the handoff to Hickerson. He gets a few. Pushes ahead. pick as it goes up the middle. Gets about four. Second down and six as the ball approaches midfield. Santa leads seven to nothing. Two and a half minutes left to go in the first quarter. Terrell Carter coming in number 80. Santa trying to go two for two. And a good move right there. You see that outside backer on both sides coming up. Shotgun looking down the middle going deep trying to post and it’s incomplete. Overthrown trying to get to number 80. That’s Terrell Carter. You were talking about him. And it’s third down and six. Had triple coverage down there and the ball was overthrown. And so not really a chance. And you had that free safety. He was free. It’s manto man on the receivers and then the free safeties will sometimes cover up as you see right here now it’s going to be manto man with that and did he get it? I think that’s a million and they’re going to say incomplete as he did not get a foot out of he didn’t make he caught the ball but both feet were out of bounds because could not get it in. I think the the foot that went out of bounds went out of bounds before the other foot touched inbounds and so it’s going to bring up a fourth down. It’s good to have a guy like Million back. He was injured last season. Well, he’s had a a very productive year so far. Yeah, he’s their leading receiver by a mile. Bringing him along slow but sure. He’s a two sports star here at San Point guard and wide receiver, but they lost him last season to an injury. It’s good to have him back. I know they’re happy about that. me on back to punt and back deep is Ben and it’s not going to get to Ben and it’s a good job. The short punt will give Santa a defensive uh spot inside the 20 yd line. So, it’s going to be first and 10 for Scotlandville as they approach the end of the first quarter. We’re inside of two minutes, but when we get to the end of the quarter, we’re going to throw it to the field and Jolie Hartman as she is going to talk about the homecoming court and get a good look at them. And uh it’s always good to be at Santa because Jolie’s always out there helping us out on homecoming night. Most nights I have to interview the queen. I don’t have to do that tonight. Glad Jolie’s down there as our third uh partner down there on the field. and she’s already had the interview earlier before the game started. [Music] First and 10. Handoff big hole breaks a tackle and tripped up or else Chester might have gone at least for a first down and then some. This guy is a bull in the back field. Well, Scotville may say we we don’t need to throw another pass, but they need to get some points right here as Dunn makes the tackle. Second and two. That tight end wing to the left side. Hand off and it’s close. Depends on the spot. And I’ve learned not to say that he is short or not to say he has a first down until they mark it. And it looks like the marker on the far side says a three. So it’s third down. One minute left to go. Ball right at the 25. It looks like from the far side they have to get just shy of the 26. The referee the white hat tonight. The guys in charge out of the Baton Rouge Association Myron Creasing always uh doing an outstanding job officiating uh the games in the Baton Rouge area. So, it’s third down and about 2 feet and 8 in, not to be precise. This is where you’d like to have a guy like Chester. We have a whistle. Oh, they let the play clock run out. Delay of game. Oh, that’s going to that’s costly. And and so far Scotville’s had two penalties and they’ve been just killers. You had that dead ball personal foul when they got down into Santa territory. Now you have a third down in less than one and you get a false start. Well, you you you got Noah Jenkins. He’s at the nose guard. Uh Jeremy Wattley number 32 made some big plays last week. And Rock 91. These are guys right there that you counting on holding up those linemen. keep them from getting to the linebackers. Third down pressure and he’s going to go down and it’s going to be fourth down after the sack as it looks like number 32 wheat or Watley makes this 32 Watley and 37 Pearson in at the M linebacker spot. I think they had basically a twoman coverage right there and it was interesting. Uh defense did a very good job of getting back there to the quarterback. So it’s fourth and 11. There’s zeros on the clock and that is going to mark the end of the first quarter. So Santa leaves at the end of one 7 to nothing. We’re going to go down on the field and throw it to Joe Lee Hartman. So, we’re down here at the pit and I am honored to announce the 2025 homecoming maids and they are Riley Gonzalez, Addison Blanchard, Josie Leon, Brooklyn, Olivia Marshall, Addie, Jade Bennett, Ella Young, Sophia Hernandez, Emma Young, Gracie Guillot, Jessica Groom, Ally Cunningham. And you need to stay tuned because one of these beautiful homecoming maids will be announced, the 2025 homecoming queen of Santa High. Back up to you, Jol Lee. You do such a great job. And now it’s fourth down. Can’t wait to do those soccer games with you in just a few weeks. Fourth and 11 for Scotlandville. And they’re going to punt. Punter number four, Watkins. And back to receive for the Gator is Miette. Actually, they got two guys back there. Well, the receivers are a 30 yd deep. High snap gets it away. The a little bit rushed and M gets the fair catch. Yes, mate. Excuse me. First little home showing in me as uh makes a fair catch at the 30, excuse me, the 45 yd line. So, coach, Santa’s going to get good field position out of this exchange. Well, you know, uh it’s going to be interesting to just see what coach Seth Babin and Coach Oliver come up with in the passing game because they have some excellent receivers and uh they if if if uh Cooper Babin gets enough time and we could get probably get some pretty big plays out of the receiving core. is here. So, it’s first down and you got pistol formation and they’re going to fake the handoff and pitch it and breaks a tackle down to the 31 yd line and a first down run by Terrell Carter. [Applause] It’s a good job right there with the little inside fake and the outside pitch. And a lot of times back in the good old days, we call that a little dive option. The back dives and the quarterback has an option whether to keep it or pitch it. Made the right choice. Now you got the split back field from the shotgun. Four receivers and this time it’s a quick pass complete and gets good yardage. Still on his feet is Riley Rudo. It’s going to be second down for the Gator. Couple of score updates at the end of the first quarter. Parville still leads Dutchtown by a score of 7 to nothing. And then EA has scored on Denim Springs. So they’re tied at seven in the second quarter. It’s going to be a fouryd pass catch and run down to the 27. And who has a buy this week? That we’re looking at him. Thank you. Second down. Hickerson cuts inside and he’s going to score and he gets his second touchdown of the night. Touchdown Gator. Did I tell you he was a heck of a running back? Yes, you told me that before the game and I believed you. But you’re definitely right. And but I’m just telling you the key to it is the big boys. They get a little movement on the line and Hickerson gets behind him. You can’t see him back there. And boy, he makes his We had a good view of the end zone. uh running into the end zone. How he kind of shakes it basically went untouched. And the guard Palacios had a good seal to help set him free. Extra point from LeBlanc is good. Good. And it’s 14 to nothing. 1036 left to go in the first half. We’ll take a break. You’re watching the Rev game of the week. Welcome to Rev. With five-star service and reliability you can count on, we’re ready to connect you to the people and places that matter most. Red. It’s 14 to nothing Gators on homecoming night. 1036 left to go in the first. Before they kick, let’s take a look at the schedules tonight in district 55A. Prairieville against Dutchtown. Also the Rev game of the week. Denim at East Ascension. Live Oak Walker and then the nond district game Scotlandville and Santa right here. Tell us about this kicker coach. I’m gonna tell you what the last one went in the endzone and this one looks like it’s going to be going down to the five and a fumble and good uh special teams right here. And coach, how happy are you about that? Because you know coach O was saying we can’t have another we can’t have four weeks in a row with a kick six. And you know, this is, you know, I’m not going to say good practice. That’s kind of rude in saying something like that. But you know, last week he was kind of positioning kicking and boy, it was unreal how Kennedy would get the ball a couple of times and go all the way across the field and one time for a score. Now out of his three kicks, one of them goes in the end zone, one of them goes to the five yd line. The Gator are going down there, rushing in their lanes, stopping them at the 20 yd line, starting that uh drive. That’s great news for Coach Oliver, the other coach Oliver as you see the handoff right up the middle and they’re going to play bowling ball football here tonight with Shawn Chester. And he’s getting good yards again. Well, a junior running back. You know, the the thing is you just cannot, you know, may maybe some of these safeties have to come up and help and that that kind of gets into the a tough zone for a safety to come up and help in the running game against the big running backs. Second and four, 950 before halftime. And a big hole and a blocker in front of him breaks a tackle. He might go the distance, but tackled from behind at the last second by number 22, Cedric Jones Jr. Big run by big Sha Chester. Well, you saw the the the two big boys pull on that one and ran the counter right there. Chester untouched through the line of scrimmage. and he had a did a good job stiff arming Cedric Jones, but Jones did an even better job getting away from the stiff arm and then catching him and tackling him from behind. So now it’s first down and the Hornets are in business. Their deepest offensive possession of the night to the 23 yd line trailing 14 to nothing. There’s a little shovel pass trying to get to the corner. They get about five. That’s Jeremy Wellington, senior wide receiver on the catch. Looks like strung out and then done. And another player kind of catch him from behind. I think that was Jackson. Second and five inside the red zone from the right hash. Scotlandville is doing a good job with this tight end wing to the another handoff up the middle. Chester, it’s going to be third down and short. I I expect this to see another dose of uh big Chester right here. They’re going to say that he was his knee was down at the 16 yd line. They got to get to the 13 and a half for a first down. Now, earlier in this situation, you had to delay a game. There’s 12 on the clock, so they should be able to get this playoff right here. Well, maybe not if they have motion. They’ve had that a few times tonight. They do get it off. quarterback is going to keep it and strung out and short. Jard Green can’t get there. And so who’s there on the tackle, coach? Well, I you know, the big thing is it’s fourth down and they need two yards, but you you did a good job with the outside backer defensive end. Sometimes they might talk to did a good job stringing it out and the quarterback who’s an outstanding athlete could not avoid the tackles from the secondary. They did a great job uh getting on the quarterback and that’s the Nickelback Clue. And you need to make sure you you you check your oil right here. He might have a hard count. And you got a fullback in there now. And it’s close. It’s going to depend on the spot. Santa says no. And I’m looking at the head head linesman. He’s got a foot one yardd short of the first down. And it’s Santa possession. Fourth down stop. My greasy says it’s a first down for the Gator. And so Jard Green will not get there. And hard to see who’s down there at the bottom of the pile. I’m assuming not big 90 Noah Jenkins and Kyler Rock and Jeremy Wley. You had to have linebackers in there because that’s probably what stopped the push. Yes. And now the the good thing is you stopped them. The bad thing is you have a possession at the 14 yd line. [Music] So you see the homecoming court right there and trying to get to Million on a quick pass falls incomplete. Let’s let’s tell you about Babin. We talked about how he has he’s up to about 300 yards rushing on the season. He has 799 passing yards. He’s 4472. Got six touchdowns and one interception. Having a great year. Well, and you know, when you talk about that pass completion deal, a lot of times in high school, you know, you know, you say 50%, you might be happy or whatever, and he’s well over that, uh, the 50% mark. Kobe Kramer checks in at wide receiver and Terrell Carter, or excuse me, not Terrell Carter, Quinton Ellisar checks out. Boy, Ellisar has been Yeah. huge in some big plays. They have two 80s on their on the roster that we received from Santa. And so I’m assuming that 80 is going to be LSR as the official is explaining something right here. Got a sideline warning. So a sideline warning on Scotlandville. And I want to I’m going to bring up something after this play. Coach, you can talk about for me. All right. Second and 10 pitch. And it was that was kind of bumbled from the start. But you were talking about penalties, coach, and how Santa needs to avoid having 10 12 penalties. Right now they have none. And if you have none, that means the head coach is happy. All right. And so, uh, good job right there so far in this game. You know, it’s hard when you pitching that ball left-handed right there and you, you know, it’s not a common thing in the offense. uh and maybe the pitch was a little bit uh behind the receiver, the uh the running back. As you can see, now they’re in an empty formation. Five receivers and he has time and open at the first down marker is Million. He breaks two tackles. He’s broken a third. Cuts and gets into Scotlandville territory. And that’s something they missed a lot of last season. Let’s watch the pass protection right here because I think it might be a key to Cooper. Look, look at the job right there. That wall right there. Yeah, he has. Great job. Cushion, Jamaica, right across there. Great job on the catch and um then you pick up yards after the catch is kind of a big thing. So, he is fully back from the injury and now we get an sign sideline warning against Santa. So both both uh sidelines was that have been that wasn’t Jolie down there on the sideline. No, she’s up there with She’s up here with us and you know that. But at Santa everything’s so tight right there. It’s hard to keep your space, right? Cuz the sidelines are so short because the field’s so close to the stands. Babin’s got room. He’s going to try to get a first down. He does. Good move and goes out of bounds. Wow. If we if we’re going to watch this again, watch 80 right here. Watch the job. talking about avoid the penalties right here. Watch when Babin takes off right here. Cooper’s running now. Watch 80 in this picture. Watch what he does. Just gets in the way. Just gets in the way. Doesn’t make a production about it. And uh Cooper’s able to get out of bounds without having any contact activity. So, let’s look at the 55A nond district results last week as everybody played a non-D district game. And so, Dutchtown beat Collegiate 62 to nothing. That was a game that I was at last week. Last they they beat them 62 to nothing back-to-back seasons. East Ascension with the win over Sam Houston. Prairieville lost to Riverside 40 to 23. Santa with the win on the Rev game of the week over John F. Kennedy. Denim Springs beat Woodlon 33- nothing. Live Oak beat Ponchhatula and Central with an 11-point win over Walker. That’s the one that that scares me a little bit. I I’m just not real real certain how how good C Well, I feel like Central is probably a pretty good team. But are they as good as the team that they had last year that won the state championship? Uh, I’m not real certain about that. And I’m not that that leads me to Walker between those two right there. You know, that’s a big game. Well, Central had um had I believe Denim the week before and Denim gave them a good game, too. So, Central is still going to be good. They’re well coached team, but maybe they’re not as good as last season like you were saying or maybe thinking. Hickerson gets good yardage on first down close to the red zone. And you know th this is just what I’m thinking. Can we run the ball, Santa? Can we run the ball? They can definitely run the ball. Okay, let’s take our time getting in the end zone. You know, here we go. We got uh six yards on that play. Let’s get into the end zone right here. And that way when we score, maybe we have less than, you know, a minute or something like this. Yeah, they uh have a chance to get a three score lead with any points. Babin’s going to keep it. But look at that answering with number 26 on defense. Drops Babin for a loss. That’s Gabe Williams, senior for the Hornets. And now it’s third down and eight after the big loss. Well, that’s the first time they’ve run that play and I’m very surprised that wasn’t very successful. Uh just a good play there by Scotlandville. Possibly a two down situation here. Oh, you think you kick her, he could probably make, but they’re going to get it to the markers and caught Lisar. That’s another reliable receiver for the Gator. They have so many of them. Let’s look at it on the replay. Coach, lots of time again and ball right right to him and good job of keeping it from hitting the ground. I’m not real sure what the play’s called, but I’m sure between the coaches, they told Elazar, “Let’s get the first down here.” Okay. And that’s exactly what he did. First down at the 16. Cuts outside. Hickerson trying to get inside the 10. Does gets down to about the eight. He’s going to be short of the first down, but good yardage on first down. Clock’s running. Good tackle by number zero Brandon Perkins. Perkins is a senior. So now a timeout has been called and that’s going to be called against timeouts called by Scotlandville. And so why don’t we take a look at this point at the homecoming court a second time since we are getting close to halftime. Do you know this as the halftime as the halftime we’re going to present the court Jessica Graham Gracie Guillot Addie Emma Young and Jade Venet Josie Leon Addison Blanchard Brooklyn Leblon and Ella Young Sophia Hernandez Ally Cunningham Olivia Woram and Riley Gonzalez. So we are 334 left from before halftime when one of the queen one of these people on the court will be crowned queen. And remember you you should remember that coach Oliver uh for Scotlandville. He was in our district at one time coaching at McKinley back in the day when you kind of split up the uh EBR uh teams with the Ascension teams. Half the teams from EBR went with the Ascension side and the other half went with the Livingston side. Best thing that ever happened to all the sports. Third or excuse me, second down and short and Babin’s trying to get free, but he’s going to be dropped for a loss. Got plenty of time. You don’t need to rush. So, good job there as two or three Hornet defenders get in there, including number 11, Max Spears. They were trying a little pick on the outside with the receiver and the running back going into the flat and Scotlandville did a good job covering that. So now it’s going to be third down and about seven. Babin taking a snap. Has to get away and cannot and he is sacked by big number 90 for Scotlandville. Cory Coleman and now it’s fourth down. But one thing that you like there, the ball’s in the middle of the field and you probably have a field goal situation right here as LeBlanc comes out and he’s smack dab in the middle of the field. So that’s got to be a good thing for him instead of having to kick from one of the hash marks as you’re going to probably snap this right before the two-minute spot. So, it should be inside of two minutes once this happens or close. It’s up and it is getting there. Getting there and it’s wide left. So, it just got there. It did have enough leg barely, but LeBlam misses the field goal. So, this remains a two-possession game. And with 204 left to go before halftime, Scotlandville has a chance to get within a score. And this is a big possession because Scotlandville is going to receive the second half kickoff. So they could be in a situation where they could get the backto-back possessions, which is something that teams always enjoy. Yep. And um it ought to be kind of interesting to see just exactly what Scotlandville does, not in the run game, but in the passing game. Got an update from Dutchtown. Coach Prairville and Dutchtown are now tied at seven in the second quarter. So, that one sounds like a good game as well. Yes. And you got the play fake trying to go deep and the receivers’s open, but it’s overthrown. And that’s a bullet dodged by the Santa Gator as they had number seven Jeremy Wellington wide open. You see the play fake pass just overthrown but he had a couple of steps on the DB Shawnberg. Second down and 10. Clock stopped at 158. Well, you have that right there. He was open. Yes, he was. Do you try that again or do you say maybe he’ll be backing up, we could slide outside? Well, looks like he’s going to try to keep it. And look at that nifty move. And then he slides shy of the first down. So there looks like they’re going to say it is a first down. I don’t know. He slid. I don’t know where the ball was when he landed. I don’t know if they count that like uh Yeah, he he he landed at the 29, but they gave him the 30. He gave him He gave him the foot spot instead of the ball spot, I think. Whistle. Are they going to review it? No, there’s a flag. You can’t review that. Although, he did get a good view of it. Moving on. That’s going to cost him. Another penalty on Scotlandville. False start. That was Perkins. Brandon Perkins, wide receiver. So Santa playing a pretty clean game. Scotlandville has put some pressure on Babin though and that’s kind of kept the Hornets in this. Well, and and some of those passes have been lengthy passes. You know that either vertical route or you know the one to Jamaica where the square end pressure trying to get away. Does get away gets rid of it. Receiver comes back. Good job by that receiver. Breaks a tackle. He’s got a first down. He gets to the corner and he’s going to get inside the 40 yd line. What a play there by number one Dwayne Ben. He did a good job coming back to the quarterback and helping out and then he made all kind of moves and break. There’s 112 left in the first half. balls it to 35. Like I said earlier, Scotlandville has a chance to get back-to- back possessions if they can hold on to this ball and and score some points. And it looks like they’re going to call a timeout. And it looks like coach Oliver is really upset. He’s mad at I think one of the uh one of the receivers or maybe the quarterback there. He’s But you can tell he is uh a little bit frustrated as you can Oh, I think they need a new set of uh headphones right there. I need need a new uh new way to communicate. But uh we’re going to keep it here and we can talk about the upcoming schedule for the Rev game of the week as you got a couple of good games next week. Dutchtown is going to come to Santa. That is going to be a really good game and could determine potential district championships. And then you got homecoming at EA. I believe I’m going to be there next week. Live Oak versus East Ascension. two weeks you got East Ascension at Prairieville and the Ascension Parish swim meet. And so that’s all on YouTube on Rev Sports and Rev Sports 1 and Rev Sports 2. So, uh I don’t know. Coach Oliver was so mad on the far sideline. I don’t think I would make that mistake again. There’s a handoff. And they don’t make a mistake right there. They bring it right back to Shawn Chester and he gets a first down. And now you’re getting in close to that minute mark. Eating that clock. And there’s Chester again. Ground and pound into the red zone. No timeouts left. So it’s going to be second and five. They are going to have to hurry. 4645. I’m going to say they’re going to be throwing the ball here. They might have to And you have a flag. Now I know they’re going to be throwing it. False start. So all the penalties are going Santa’s way here tonight. second. Well, you know, that that is uh interesting that you know, I know we still have uh more than a little bit more than a half. Have a jumped off sides. That’s a plus. What are some other pluses with no penalties? Well, you don’t have any sort of false starts that put you in a hole on offense. And there’s a big hole for Shan Chester. They don’t need to run. They’re going to stop the clock and as they move the chains for a first down with 22 seconds. Well, but they don’t have any timeouts and so they probably have to clock it right here. Yeah, I don’t know. Yeah, they clock it from the No, they’re going to keep it and they may run out of time. 14 13 They’re going to have to struggle to get another playoff. They may not get another playoff. I don’t think they know how urgent the situation is. Five, four, they’re not going to get a playoff. They are not going to get a playoff and it’s too late. And look at how frustrated Jard Green is at quarterback. And that’s just a a really bad decision. And I’m Well, you know, the first thing is, you know, you got to get a playoff and your receivers’s running out there to almost where you could change the down box. Yeah. You know, so uh those are things that you you you know, when you want to clock kill, and I’m just assuming that’s what they wanted. Everybody ought to just line up right there. Tackles, you know, you can line up anywhere you want, but right there next to the tackles. And long as we have that many people on the line of scrimmage, we got to go to a break for halftime. It’s 14 to nothing. We’ll take a short break and then we will have the presentation of the homecoming court. You’re watching the Rev game of the week. Welcome to Rev. [Applause] [Music] Ladies and gentlemen, give it up one more time for your 2025 homecoming course. Last night at the pep rally, we crowned your homecoming king, Rashad Williams. And now for the moment you’ve been waiting for. Please welcome to the field principal Christina Carter and last year’s queen Patricia Wilson as they crown the 2025 homecoming queen. And your 2025 homecoming queen is Miss Jade Vanette. Yeah. [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] So there you have the homecoming queen crowned for Santa High School for 2025. Miss Jade Vanette. So Jolie Hartman is with me. And tell me about this girl. So Jade is a phenomenal student at Cama High School. She is somebody that just inspires everybody around her. of she’s quiet, but once you get to know her, it is one of the funniest students at Santa High School. She is very caring and just all about everything for Senal High School. You know, you’ve heard of when uh Mark was saying a little bit about her. She’s danced for 16 years and is on our nationally known right here from home um Getter team. you know, she serves as a co- captain for them and, you know, talking to uh their sponsor, Tessa, just everything that she does for the Gators is just truly seen every single day. Um, and Jade is just a phenomenal student at Santa High School. And, you know, I have to tap u tap uh hats off to our students. They did great for this choice because she is a phenomenal representation of Sen High. And you will get a chance to interview her in the third quarter. So, you’ll go down to the field and you’ll talk to her while we are broadcasting the action during the game. Yeah, absolutely. I can’t wait just to hear about what is the the reaction hearing your name over the loudspeaker and uh just seeing exactly what her emotions were cuz uh you know if you’ve been in those shoes before it is really a humbling and just an out-of- body experience. And so this is the uh kind of culmination, well actually the the dance is going to be the culmination of everything, but the the crowning is the uh kind of the peak moment, I guess you could say. But this is not the only thing that’s been going on over here at Santa. And of course, we’re we’re bringing you up here so you can tell us about some of the things that have happened over the week over here at Santa. Yes. So, homecoming week, just like as any other high school in, you know, in in the world, um you have a week of themes. Every single day, dress up day. On Monday, we were baby gators in the bayou. They got to dress as their younger self. Uh Tuesday it was swamp pop. Um every grade had a different color to wear. Uh Wednesday, boogie down the bayou 70s. Really great attires we’re seeing through this. Um, but I giggle at all of the students because they think the 70s were 100 years ago. Um, you know, I’m born in 1990 as we can see our principal, Miss Carter. See what I mean? They all dressed up um throughout the week. This is all Monday. Kind of dressed as your younger selves. They really went uh really far with this one cuz of it was just the simple of they found a picture of them old and they found the outfits for it. our teachers right here uh dressed up and that’s something that I love about homecoming around any high school uh you know setting the teachers get to be involved and the students giggle at the teachers you know just things like that so that is some of uh you know just our sophomores through uh throughout wearing yellow on Tuesday um and just all all the different classes had different colors um our teachers actually got together and made tie-dye t-shirts the Saturday before homecoming week So, just camaraderie, things like that. Pink were 12th graders. Um, as we can see, different uh variations of pink. And then our teachers, like I said, got together and did tie-dye on Saturday, which I just think it’s really awesome because it kind of brings just awareness to family and exactly what homecoming should be about. People coming home, people experience Santa High uh every single year during this week. Now, I don’t see your picture out here. Uh how did you dress this week? Let’s see. Um, I’m remodeling a house, friends. So, um, all of mine were out of closets of me and my mom and just friends and things like that and other friends. Hey, Joe, I got you a tie-dye shirt. So, I I wore it. But, uh, honestly, um, I thoroughly enjoyed Thursday, which was the Bayou Getaway dress as your favorite destination. Um, and I were the state of Louisiana that’s at home because I’m really enjoying remodeling my great-grandmother’s house right now. Uh, and I can’t wait to call it my home. And then, uh, today, you know, uh, almost every Friday, we see, look, look at the 70s coming back here at Santa High. Teachers getting involved. It’s just awesome. Uh, and today, Friday, was simple, you know, just the, uh, STA spirit day. Bring your best Gator gear out. some more 70 pictures. It’s just so much fun uh when you get to see the kids kind of express themselves, you know, if they have to wear uniforms every single day. We get to see new side of people’s personalities and expressions. And so it’s so fun uh to walk down the hallways and I know you’ve experienced homecoming week. Uh many of times you see kids that are normally not active, you know, in the school finally, you know, come about and be like, “Okay, yep, you know, this was really cool.” You know, and so, um it’s just a a combination of just uh the kids coming together. I really love when the kids kind of match cuz that means that they were talking outside of school trying to come up with something. So, um, a lot of freshmen right there, uh, getting into the groove of high school experience. So, really awesome to see newbies, um, at a school get into it, get hyped because they’re going to be here the next four years. And that was that’s actually our front office. They did amazing job um, in the office to kind of promote it for all of our visitors coming in to our school. And you see all the photos and you have a million photos. Apparently, everybody, but one of the things we haven’t seen, I don’t know if we’re going to have enough time to see all of it. As you see the king right there, uh you had the uh tradition over here is a Thursday night pep rally. So, you could talk about that for a second. Yes. So, uh last night we crowned uh our king um Rashad Williams. Uh awesome, awesome kid. He is literally somebody that absolutely will make you laugh just because he’s speaking. Um, you know, he was on our GNN this morning and um he he talked about um that NFL um running back Barkley, how he jumped over somebody. He said he’s going to do he’s going to do that in tonight’s game, but he’s going to go over two of them. Oh, okay. And he ain’t even nothing but 5 foot tall. So, we all just laughed at him. So, he’s such a great uh kid and another great representation of um what we want in our high school athletes. somebody that has always waited his turn uh to be able to play and things like that and so hopefully he gets to play come in tonight. Yeah, don’t believe we’ve seen him yet, but we may see him a little bit later uh with Santa having the 14 to nothing lead. So, we’re going to have to cut off the photos right there and uh coach Swax’s going to come in and I know you got to go and run down to the student section because you have to go find the queen and interview her. So Jolie, thank you for joining us here in the booth at halftime and have have fun down there on the field. Absolutely. I’ll see y’all soon at the end of the third quarter. All right, great. So Jolie Hartman, we’re going to turn it over to Coach Swack if we can ever get his attention over here, but I’ll take care of it until he comes out to do the color. I will continue the playbyplay as we are ready to begin. And like I said a while ago before halftime, Scotlandville is going to get the ball to start the second half. And you have uh looks like Jordan Watkins and Dwayne Ben to receive the kick. And uh coach, so far as Paxton Leblon gets ready to kick this ball off. Uh you haven’t had any points in the first half, but even more importantly, you haven’t given up a kick return for a touchdown so far, which was one of your keys to the game. Well, you start saying that enough, people start calling me and wanting some help. And I, you know, it was pretty obvious on the kickoff return. Let’s see this right here. It’s going to be short. It’s a little bit short, but but look at that. And there’s a flag on the play. So, a good job right there. That that was thrown about 15 or 20 yards, right? That was thrown at about midfield. And uh who’s it against? Maybe uh sending it back. It’s usually on the uh return team. On the return team. So, so all the penalties continue to go Santa’s way. Yeah. Just I mean I you know no penalties. No. Uh now this is going to even you know be a longer drive and let’s just say they try you know I’m sure they’re going to continue to drive the the drive down the field. I’m sure that’s going to happen. Here they are going to start at the 10 yardd line. now got two starters out on defense, the uh you have the uh the the lack of special teams uh mistakes here and you have the lack of penalties. So that’s those are the two things that we’ve talked about at the beginning of this game. So let me just tell you, you’re prophetic. You don’t need to give Scotlandville any more yardage in penalty yardage. Right now, I want to say this because it’s 14 to nothing. And if you didn’t watch the first half, you might think it’s a pretty comfortable game for the Gator. Scotlandville has left two scoring opportunities on the field. And I’ll talk about that after this play, coach, as you have the quarterback, Jard Green, going to hand it off and uh just going to get back to the line of scrimmage. Coach, Scotlandville had two possessions inside the red zone. The first one you had the fourth down conversion and they didn’t get it from the quarterback sneak from Green. And then the second one they ran the ball and didn’t have any timeouts and the clock ran out on them. So Santa’s been pretty fortunate to still have the shut out on the board right now. And it looks to me like they gone to a little bit different scheme right there with a little slant on the first play. And that’s still Shan Chester in the back field. It’s going to be a straight drop back and throw. And coming back to get it, making the catch is going to be Dwayne B for a Scotlandville first down. And after the first quarter, the passing game has been a lot more successful as you see here on the replay. And that’s the third or fourth time under ball underthrown. Uh and none of them been complete except that one right there. And uh Cedric Jones Jr. had good coverage, but the pass was underthrown. And that’s a good correction right there by Dwayne Ben to make the catch for the first down. Ball now at the 37 yd line. So Santa lets him out of the hole as we start the third quarter. 14- nothing Gator. And good job keeping Shan Chester to a short gain right there. He had lots of yardage in that first half just running the ball between the tackles. Yeah. And I’m not real certain, you know, what’s going on. They still have the 3-2 front. I think they have some personnel changes here. You You see your down lineman 32 at the nose guard. And they are handing that rock off and getting yardage right here. I think they’re going to go to the air again. Second and seven and a quick pass. You are correct. And trying to get to the first down marker and he does. Jeremy Wellington with the catch. Wellington. So, moving the chains again. First down for the Hornets. So, Santa’s defense being put to the test here tonight. They do have the shut out so far, but Scotlandville has moved the ball pretty well. First down for the and it’s been a good balance here after the first quarter. Running game and passing game. Team is looking like they’re getting a little bit more comfortable and a little more balanced. First and 10. Chester. They’ve they’ve done a better job on first down, holding him to about three yards. That’s the second time in a row you’ve seen that down at the bottom of the pile. That’s Watley. So, it’s going to be second down and seven, maybe six, about six and a half. So, this is the opening possession of the second half. And we have a whistle. It looks like a timeout is going to be called. So there’s an injured player. So we will keep it here. And uh what we can do right now is talk about the uh class 5A top 10 after week four as we are headed toward district play. And it’s already started in a lot of places. Carr 3 and 0. Catholic High 3-0. Rustin, they’re three and 0. Central also 3 and 0. Most of these teams are 3 and 0 except for Neville. St. Ag out of New Orleans, 3 and 0. Alexandria Senior High, 3 and 0. Neville 2-1. John Curtis 2 and 0. Zachary and Brother Martin. And that Brother Martin team is really good. Brother Martin, we saw them earlier in the year. Uh, got the uh the the running back, right? Slash maybe quarterback slashwide receiver. Royal. Mhm. uh just a tremendous athlete and uh you know basically he almost beat East Ascension single-handedly. Uh it was a heck of a game and uh he is a fun kid to watch. There’s no doubt about that. But I’m going to tell you this. I believe Brother Martin’s just a team that’s going to get better and better and better as time goes right here. And now that here they are in the uh top 10 with a three and 0 record. Believe the injured Hornet was number 71 Trenel Fulton. Little shovel pass again and he is strung out and makes a nice move to get positive yardage Dwayne Ben before he’s escorted out of bounds by Jones and Rock. and several other Gator does a good job of stretching that out for about a three- yard gain. Yeah, that that looked like it was going to be about a two or three yardd loss, but Ben made a nice move. Got past one defender and got positive yardage. Third and four, so he got about two and a half on the play. shotgun. Green flush now throws and a first down. That’s Ben again. He’s got nice moves and gets inside the 35. So, another first down. Oh, actually that’s Wellington number seven. Great job by the quarterback. You looked like he was fixing to take off. Yeah, keeping those eyes down the field. And one of the coaches told me last year he was the same way. Very good player. Mhm. And uh you know they’re in that district there with uh I think Lehi which is Liberty Liberty and then you have Central and uh Catholic and Zachary Zachary very good district and on first down it’s a new uh back in the game I believe. No, that’s actually still Chester number six. And uh that’s the shortest game that I believe we’ve seen them have the entire night. He looked like he was a little tentative holding on to that ball with two hands. Yeah, that’s why I thought it was somebody different. It looked different. But I will say this, maybe the Gator slanted in that direction and which created a uh uh a a a situation where he not he wanted to Oh, there’s the first penalty of the night for the Gator. And you talked about it that off sides and that’s number 91. Uh that’s Rock. You very seldom see that from him. He’s coming out the game. So he’ll talk to the coaches about what happened. No, let me just tell you the Rocks have been through the Galves program and through the Santa program. Uh I think it’s been three of them and they were outstanding high school football players uh here and for the Galves Pirates. Second down and a short five. Chester, that’s a good positive gain near a first down. We’ll wait and see. Rock got his uh allowance taken away. Yeah. and back in the game. And it’s going to be third and one. So, they’re going to need them right here because you’re probably going to get a big old dose of Sha Chester in the back field as we are approaching the hydration break as we are approaching a six-minute possession for the Hornets. Eating up that clock and keeping that Santa offense off the field. And it’s a first down. So they’ll move the change and we may be about to go to the hydration break making a stop there for the Gator and clock running. I don’t think they’re going to get a playoff my greasy. So we’re at the hydration break now. Remember later on in the third quarter when we get to the end of the third quarter we’re going to get an interview with the homecoming queen. So we got that to look forward to. Right now, let’s talk about how Santa has done the last five seasons because they are the uh defending district co- champions. They shared the title last season with Dutchtown, but they’ve had that by district game that we covered last season. That was against Westgate out of uh New Iberia and Westgate beat them in that game, but they still had a great season. They did win a game in 2023 in the postseason and then moved on to the second round. So they in in the odd number seasons they’ve moved past the first round into the regionals and this is an odd number season right here and they’re the only undefeated team in district right now. So they there are some some high expectations for this team this year. Yeah. And I’m going to just tell you, you know, being been at Satama since 85, uh you know, getting to the quarterfinals has been a rarity. Uh I know coach Oliver’s done has team has done that and probably the other thing is winning a road playoff game. Yeah. [Music] And wrapped up by Watley after a short gain. It’s going to be a gain of one. It’s second down and nine as we now go inside the halfway point of the third quarter. And if they can get a touchdown right here and make it a onep possession game and you and you’re keeping Babin ice cold on the sideline, they’re doing a good job. They just haven’t executed and gotten the ball in the end zone yet. Well, you know, th this is a fear that all defensive coaches have not been able to consistently stop the run. They busted one long run, but they haven’t had that too much here as you have a pass to the end zone and a flag comes down. And let’s see if they call defensive pass interference right here. That’s often what you see in that type of situation. It was a nice throw. Could not hold on to it. Coverage right there by Jackson. And so now you have back-to-back penalties called against the Gator. So for two and a half quarters, they played a clean game and now you’ve got the uh back-to-back penalties as the ball now gets to the 10 yd line and it’s first and goal. So they have to go the full 10 yards, but they cannot get a first down. Has the clock now at 508. So now the defense has to make a stand. And they’ve made two stands in the red zone so far. And up the middle, Chester gets inside the five. And we have a whistle as we have an injured. Well, actually, I don’t believe it’s an injured player, but I think it was just a pancake block. And he was really excited about that. Yeah, that was a number 70 was really excited. Jacob Clark pancake somebody. It’s second down from the five. Hand off up the middle. Third down and goal. down to about the two. I got a feeling we’re gonna see number six two more times here. Well, sometimes you can out coach him and sometimes you can’t. And it’s amazing. Some coaches might say, “No, we’re just going to run six one time, then we’re going to fool them.” We’ll see what happens here with uh four receivers. Yeah, they have a uh the receivers are spreading. They’re going to try to throw it. He’s in trouble dancing around and he is going to be dropped for a loss and it’s fourth down. Did they Did they out think themselves right there, coach? You are correct. And a late flag. A late flag on the far side. after the play comes to an end. There’s another flag in the end zone. So, there’s been some uh some extracurricular perhaps. Well, you’ve been having some action uh with the cornerback and the receiver over there. Uh they’re talking it over. A lot of times in that situation, you’ll see offsetting penalties. You would be facing a fourth and goal from the four. [Music] Yeah, offsetting. So, it’s fourth down and goal from the four. They’re going for it. It’s going to be fourth and goal now for the Hornets. [Applause] Boy, you were talking about it and you can see it here from our vantage point. That offensive line is gigantic. Well, you know, it’s going to be interesting to see if the quarterback’s involved in this and they throw to the end zone and that is out of the end zone. But there’s a pass interference call coming right here. I find that perplexing, coach, because you got number six has been running that ball right down their throats and you go with backto-back pass plays and they got bailed out with the contact. And this is not an automatic first down, I don’t believe. Let’s see. Pass interference. [Music] And now it’s still fourth down. So you are correct. I’m going to just tell you six is going to get this rock. As you see the coach, Coach Oliver is all the way down to the 5 yd line making sure that he gets that timeout called. I’m not I understand why Coach Oliver called that. Yeah. Let’s let’s make sure we have blocking assignments. We’re going to angle block or base block or whatever. You know, they had an eye back and a and a fullback. But then on the other side of this, you know, this is, you know, with uh Coach Dikes. No, this is what we’re going to do here, guys. And you know, we got to make sure that we drive our feet when we make contact and don’t let go. Well, I think Coach Oliver called the timeout and said, “You know what? Maybe we should get the ball to six.” And like you were saying right there, they outthought themselves. And uh I got a feeling that it’s just going to be be the big men on that offensive line against the big men on that defensive line. And so the play of the game because this could make this a onepossession game. And and coach, you have an 8 minute and 14 second drive to to start this second half. No matter what, they kept this game close. And I’m going to tell you, they they haven’t been stopped for a two-yd or less game yet. I hardly And they have a big fullback in the back field. They’re pitching it out and he drops it and now he’s running for his life. Can he get free? Good block on the outside. He’s going to score as that is Dwayne Ben. No flags on the play. And you got bailed out on the dropped pitch. And now there’s a late flag on the field at the five. Look at it. He lost the ball. And there’s a good block down here. And that’s number six Chester who threw that block. [Applause] Wow. And so the penalty, it sounded like the Santa public address announcer said it was going to be off sides. So it’s an unsportsmanlike. So this may be assessed on the extra point. That could be dangerous if they do that. Or will it be assessed after the on the kickoff? I think you might have a choice here. Yeah, extra point. Coach, 8 minute and 23 second touchdown drive. That’s a statement drive right there. And it was a lot of balance, too, running and throwing the ball and Dwayne Ben gets the touchdown on a broken play. So it looks like they are going to assess it after the extra point. This is Jeremiah Guanera number 23 trying to make it a seven-point game. It is good. And so it’s 14 to7. We’ll take a break. 337 left in the third. Santa leads 14-7. You’re watching the Rev game of the week. Welcome to Rev. Delivering fiber powered technology for both your home and your business. Red Scotlandville makes it a game. It’s 14 to7 after an nearly 8 and 1/2 minute drive that results in points. And now this is where the penalty is going to be assessed and this is where Santa’s going to get good field position most likely. So the penalty is going to be assessed and it’s going to be from the 25 yd line. And so you got to think that Santa if they did have the option, like you said, they opted to get the ball around midfield and and kind of let them have that point right there. Yeah. Well, you know, I I I’m not real certain that you scratching your head. We we we’re going to let go ahead and let him get a shot at it because last week the Kennedy guy couldn’t Yeah. couldn’t make anything. But, you know, here we go. Let’s let’s move up the field here. we can. And there it is right there in the middle of the field. And it’s taken by an upback and he’s passed midfield. That’s Landon Blanchard again. He had a good return to start the game on the first kick. Smart move, you know, cuz that that extra point I believe would have been good from 15 more yards. Could have been. But the difference here though, when you take that penalty, Santa might have had the ball about the 30 35 yd line. Instead, they get the ball past midfield. They’re at the 40 yd line. So, you get that little short field right now. So, first and 10. Santa’s offense has been on the field off the field for a long time. Now, Hickerson gets it. And you know, look at your offensive line right here. Hickerson gets it. And you know, this like a four to five yd gain right here. Pickerson. One of the uh Hornet defenders lost his helmet. He’s coming out of the game. Number 88, Dietri Stewart. 88 Stewart leading the game. So, it’s a three- yd gain. Second and seven. Shotgun. Second and seven. Plenty of time. He’s had time all day. And there’s a little crossing route to Million. Incomplete. That that one low away. third and seven number we don’t really see him off on a lot of passes but he’s a little bit off on that one with the timing I think yeah the you know that’s the route that was completed just a while ago uh with the crossing route and you don’t see it a whole lot of times in high school because you got to get all the way across that field right there third and long Hickerson with the late handoff off inside the 30 to the 30. That’s a first down for the Gator. Good job right there. I was a little concerned they they Hickerson’s taken off to the outside here, but we had some nice blocking by the receivers on the outside there. That was one of those RPO plays, wasn’t it, coach? Where they he put it in his gut and then he thought about taking it out and keeping it himself, but he made the right choice right there. Good job by Babin. Well, they they bringing a sub in Babin down the middle or actually it’s a post route. You mean a fade route to number four. My bad. Trying to get it to Ruto and it’s incomplete. Got a score update from Dutchtown as we look at the replay. Dutchtown now leading Prairieville by a score of 20 to7 in the fourth quarter. Last update we got from EA and Denim was EA leading by a score of 13 to7. There’s an injury down there as a Hornet is down and so what we can do is keep it here. We talked about Santa and their playoff history. Why don’t we take a look at their football schedule because they’re going to have six straight district games after tonight because they have the first buy. And so next week, the Rev game of the week, Dutchtown coming to the pit and that’s going to be a very important game that could have district title implications. Then they go to Walker. Then they got the big rivalry and it’s here at the pit this season. Then you go to Live Oak, then you go then you get Prairieville at home, and then you get Denim Springs. So, look at that. They get all three Ascension teams at home. Yeah. And Live Oak has not had a great season so far. But I’m going to tell you what, I would not count them out for a second. You just never know. You know, uh you you you start thinking you got this one made and before you know it, you’re behind. And so this is a cornerback right here. Yeah, you don’t really see him in the picture yet. And that is it looks like action number two. Christopher London public address announcer telling us that Denim Springs has scored on EA. So now it’s 14 to 13 Denim with the lead. East Ascension’s had a lot of back and forth games this season. They’ve had a lot of fun matchups and looks like another one tonight. Second and 10, 209 left to go in the third quarter. We’re a couple of minutes away from an interview with the homecoming queen, Miss Vanette. And they give it to Hickerson and that’s not going to do a thing. Big tackle by number 90 Coleman. Third and long [Music] right there. Coleman just wrestles him down. Going to be third. This Scotlandville team has impressed me here. They’re one and two on the season, but they look like they’re an improving team. Third and 11 and Babin loses it. Gets it right back. He’s going to roll out, throw it, and he just gets rid of it. And it’s fourth and long. Probably made a smart decision right there not to take a sack and not to throw an interception right there. Well, you know, the the good part about it is it counts as a down right there. But, you know, because that rule has changed, you know, for all the uh football leagues to where you, you know, once you get out of the tackle box from tackle to tackle, you can throw it wherever is as as long as you’re throwing it past the line of scrimmage. So, fourth and 11 and they’re going to go for it right here. The ball was at the 30. They missed a field goal earlier and I don’t think that the kicker has that that distance. And so now it looked like Babin was a little frustrated with the defense right there. And so we’ll keep it here. As you take a look right there, there’s our homecoming queen tonight, Jade Vanette, as she takes some pictures with the dance team. And uh they were really excited about her winning that uh award here tonight. Well, just talking to a few people, of course, you know, you and I, we don’t know her, but you know, this is the best vote you can get. Says she’s an outstanding kid. Yeah. Uh Jol Lee had a lot of good things to say about her during the halftime interview when uh when you had to when you stepped away and she took your place as uh she of course on the faculty at this school talking about all the stuff that was happening and she had nothing but praise for her. You got to get 11 yardds here. Big play. Try to keep this drive going. Babin throwing the fade again to Millian out of bounds. Not a chance right there. Millian could not make a play as the pass was off and so we have a change of possession. One of the first times I’ve seen Million as a solo receiver uh with the motion. Yeah, you he’s his uh his area has kind of been where he’s been most successful been down the middle here tonight. He did have that one sideline pass that he could not get his feet in and that one was that fade right there was just overthrown. And so now Scotlandville has a chance to tie this game with 121 left to go in the third quarter. Santa can’t shake him. They’re getting more confidence as the game goes on, I believe, as they go right down the throats of the Santa defense and it’s going to be a gain of four from Chester and it’s going to be second down. I’m still surprised that he didn’t get the ball at the end zone. Even when they ran the ball on fourth down, it was one of their receivers in the back field, Ben, who got the carry. But Chester threw a key block down there to to spring him into the end zone as we now are inside of a minute. See the quarterback right there, Jard Green. Green shotgun. he can run and he is going to be short of a first down before he’s taken down. So that’s going to be third down and short for Scotlandville as Kyler Rock makes the tackle. Third and two. Third and two. They may not get a playoff right here. It’s going to be close. There’s eight on the clock. They don’t have to run a play. Three, two, one, and they do not get a play off. And so the third quarter is a successful one for Scotlandville. It’s 14 to7 at the end of the third quarter. And uh in a moment, we’re going to take a look at the homecoming queen as Jolie Hartman is getting ready for the interview with Jade Vanette. And so we’ll get to her just as soon as it’s ready as we get ready to begin the fourth quarter. And now it’s time. Well, I am here with none none other than the 2025 homecoming queen, Miss Jade. Jade, when you heard your name pronounced, what went through your mind? Um, shocked. I did not expect it at all. Yeah. I felt like anybody else would have one, but not me. Well, that’s one thing that the student body saw in you. You are somebody that is so inspiring and your smile just always brightens up everybody’s day. So, Jade, you was telling me earlier that your parents have been so influential this weekend, kind of like nudging you like you’re going to win and all this and all that. What has their support like truly done for you this week during homecoming week? Um, it gave me more confidence rather than doubting myself. like I didn’t think I was going to win, but it was it’s more than I did before, you know, and I’m just thankful for them because they bought me all this stuff and it was a lot of money. So, just really thankful and grateful for them. Yeah, absolutely. So, at Santa High School, we know that you are involved in the nationally known from right here from home gatores. Uh what um what can we expect from the Gatores this season? Um I think we would do really good this season, especially at nationals in Disney World and at all of our competitions. I feel like we’ll do really good cuz we have a good team this year and yeah, feel like we’ve improved a lot since last year. And last question, Jade, what is your plans after Santa High School? Um, uh, I want to go to H.B.CU and major in biology and then later on become an anesthesiologist. Well, you heard it from the Santa High homecoming queen, Miss Jade. Back up to you guys, coach. As we get finish that inter interview with Jolie Hartman and homecoming queen, Cole Maroy just made one of the biggest plays of the game. And I’m going to tell you what it you a number of Gators got there. Uh, you know, uh, great job of getting to the quarterback and staying with him, creating a punting situation. And that punt was short, but it takes a great bounce. And so it’s going to keep on rolling down to the 37 yd line. And so Santa will take over on offense. And while we wait for the first offensive possession, let’s go to coach Swack’s favorite part of the game, and that is the middle school scoreboard. Well, we’re going through mid-season right here with Bluff 14, Santa 12, Galves 22, Lori 0ero, Gonzalez 28, Dutchtown 7, and Central in double overtime beating Lake 32-26, Prairville had a buy. And so that’s a eventful week. Well, next week I’m going to give you the how they stand uh in the standings and so we’ll look forward to that as on first down we look forward to a big gain probably about five as trying to do something on offense. They haven’t had very many opportunities. They’ve only had one possession here in the second half. That that ended on downs, but Skylerville has played good ball control here in the second half. Babin’s going to keep it. He’s got a first down and they get past midfield down to the 47 yd line. Gets to get a first down and little fake and go right here with the counter. He decides to go outside of that look right there and get up the first down. He’s made a lot of smart decisions there. Yeah, he made he’s made a lot of really good decisions. He’s been doing this 100 years and uh you know, one decision may not be good, but about 50 of them will be really good. And on first down, that looks like a good decision as they give it to Hickerson. That’s always a good decision, right, Coach Hickerson? I don’t know him, but he just seems like you cannot go wrong by handing him the ball off. He does good things for you. This is a key drive here as you get inside of 10 minutes now. And a quick pass caught by Million. He’s got room to run. You love when you can do that. And stiff arm out of bounds down inside the 30 yd line. Boy, watch this on the outside. It’s a RPO right there. Pull it wide open. It’s simple as ABC. Good job right there with the quarterback. Babbing to million. First down from the 27. Quick pass. This is Taylor. We haven’t called his name. Nice move. He’s going to get down close to the 10 yd line. Caven Taylor, you know, I know coach Seth Babin has been waiting to do some of this stuff and he almost had to wait an entire quarter uh making to start this second half. And we have a whistle. And so we’re going to have a timeout called by Scotlandville. And so we’re going to keep it here. And since Scotlandville called a timeout, let’s talk about Scotlandville. They uh have started out one and two, but they do have a oneame winning streak as they beat McKinley 35 to nothing last week. You saw Kennedy, that was a team that Sanma beat. They lost to them 19 to nothing, but it looks like they’re improving. They got the win against McKinley. They played well tonight and then they go to West Monroe. That’s a going to be a wild game and a long trip. And then you got the the District of Death there with Zachary, Catholic, and Central among other teams. And I’m going to just tell you, Liberty doesn’t look like they have much. I saw a Ler who is not real great this year from what I’ve seen in the stats. Uh so Scotlandville ought to be able to handle Liberty, but you just never know. You never know when you have athletes and you can run the ball of just exactly, you know, what Scotlandville might do in their district schedule. And of course, you’re just trying to get into the playoffs, right? And if you’re in the middle of the pack in that district, you’re still going to be a playoff team potentially. Dutchtown now pulling away from Prairieville. Score 35 to7. They’ve scored two touchdowns very quickly. Greyville hung for at least a half, but it looks like Dutchtown too much tonight. First down from the 14. Quick pass to Taylor. He’s got lots of moves and he is close to the end zone. Fighting for it. Won’t get there, but it’s going to be first and goal inside the the three yd line. Ah, some good stuff right here by the Gator. They’re using those quick passes really effectively, right? And you know what they’re doing? Getting them out there quick. And uh you got some nice blocking and some second efforts. Two hands on the football. Ladder almost escorted him in, but couldn’t quite get him there. I I I think uh Hickerson might be the man here. And he is going to get past the big man and get into the end zone. Touchdown Gator. He couldn’t find him. Yeah, he got met by the big man, but He was too bad turned into a small man. Yeah, he uh he got a little slithery right there. That was a good job by the Gator in a lot of different ways. I like the adjustments uh that Coach Babman and his son, you know, uh made the offensive coaches. Uh and boy, that was just stealing on the little quick passes. And a lot of people in both leagues are making a lot of money with those things. And it’s 21 to7. Extra point by LeBlanc. We’ll take a break. You’re watching the Rev game of the week. Welcome to Rev. Delivering fiberpowered technology for both your home and your business. Welcome back to the Rev game of the week. Jeff Horse, David Swacker with you from the pit. Homecoming night at Santa. Santa gets the two possession game back after giving up a touchdown in the third quarter. It’s 21-7. That was a statement drive right there. Yeah. And I’m, you know, I I just really like, you know, what you can do with uh Cooper and the offense. Uh and it’s just amazing how last week they brought in the tight end to help block on the backside. And uh this week using motion but getting those quick passes off and everybody’s holding their breath right here and good coverage by the special teams one more time. And I think I think coach Kenny Gry’s got the kickoff team and uh so I’m going to have to give him uh kudos to a good job there by the kickoff team. Yeah, I think a lot of people are holding their breath because right now this is the only this is the first week where they haven’t given up a kick return for a touchdown. Well, Kenny G says it was nothing, man. We just told them stay in the lanes, sprint down there, make a tackle inside the 30, and then we go out there to play defense. And it’s better to make those mistakes in early games and games that you win because now it looks like they’ve improved a lot. Very good point. First and 10 from the 27. And look at those moves. Now he throws it off his back foot and the catch is made near the 40 yd line by Jeremy Wellington. What a play right there. Well, it’s a play in and just getting away from everybody. Yep. That’s number one by the quarterback and not looking to run but looking to throw. And that could have been picked right there. That was dangerous. Looked like Mat may have been able to get his hands on it but could not. And now a quick pass post incomplete to Jordan Watkins. He had it in his hands. That would have been a big completion right there. Yeah, I thought that outside guy right here, he’s covering deep, but nobody goes with him because he’s got to cover the post uh on the other side of the field as he split the defenders. And now we have a whistle and looks like an officials timeout is as there’s an injury on the field. And I think that’s one of the Scotlandville players as uh we just a few minutes ago had the interview with the uh homecoming queen Jade Venet. Let’s look at all of the uh homecoming court one more time here tonight while we wait for them as the player gets up. But here you go. Jessica Graham, Gracie Guillot, Addie R, Emma Young. Then there’s the Queen, Jade Venet, Josie Leon, Addison Blanchard, Brooklyn Leblon, and Ella Young. Well, what a blast to be in high school, man. Yep. Sophia Hernandez, Ally Cunningham, Olivia Worsham, and Riley Gonzalez. There are so many things to do, so many activities, and one of them should be getting in trouble. Just come here and have a good time. Have a whistle. I think they’re setting the play clock maybe. Or is there a drone up? Oh, okay. Never mind. I thought they were looking up at a drone, but there’s a loose football on the field. They got it. So, you got uh Maybe a cover two look here into the sidelines. Second and 10. I think we’re going to see a lot of passes and maybe a sack. No, gets away. Elusive and then just steps out of bounds and escorted out by 32 and 91. Kyler rocking Jeremy Watley. I I I I didn’t see where the pressure came, but I was looking in the secondary. It looked like things were covered here. And it must be because the quarterback couldn’t find anybody open on that third and he is elusive, but you can’t escape the sideline once you get there. Right. Third down and 19. [Applause] 716 left to go. And he’s got time. throws the post complete. First down. Nice passing catch Dennard Green to Jeremy Wellington. Well, pretty well covered right there in the secondary. Yeah, you had your defender right there. Split the two safeties. Pass game has come alive. It It was not existent in the first quarter. It improved a little bit in the second quarter. got pretty did a pretty good job in the third quarter and now they’re doing a much better job. And there’s the deep fade. Flag comes down and I think you got some contact down there probably against the Gator. Pass is incomplete. There’s a flag on you. Uh you’ve had a couple of flags down there in the secondary on these passes, coach. It looks like you got another one. And you also have a uh Gator down number 95. They’re tending to him. CJ Francois. So you have the DPI call. You got Garrett Leblon, pass player here for the Gator. Works over there at interference against Blue Bonnet. physical blue line surgery center for Dr. Winder. Gotcha. And he’s here every Friday for a Gator game. Penalty moves the ball to the 26. Scotlandville still fighting down 21-7. Oh, what a move. Cuts outside and eventually only gets about four or five. And there’s a flag. There’s another personal foul. And coach, they played penalty-free football for two and a half quarters, but in the last about 12 minutes, they probably had about seven penalties. Yeah, I’m not real certain about that one. Uh, but you know, that official’s right on top of it. He got thrown into the fence and the fence is so close. So, it’s not like other schools where you have a track. It’s right on top of it. So, it’s not like he got thrown a long distance, but you see the late push. I think that that’s what the penalty was. The the second guy came in and pushed him toward defense, and that’s where the penalty came in. [Music] I tend to agree with that penalty right there. Half the distance to the goal. But they’ve committed enough penalties in the last 12 minutes of action to to make up for that first two and a half quarters. [Music] And now half the distance ball at the 11 trying to get it to a one-sore game. Like I said a moment ago, Jard Green handoff and there’s the forgotten guy on this drive. Chester gets nothing. So we have another flag. on the carry 32 for the Gator leading the way. I see it right in the right at the left hash at the four yd line. Eagle Swacker caught it earlier. Well, I I’m I’m trying to take advantage of those uh offensive lineman and defensive linemen. And there you see there’s another one at the 10. So looked like there were two flags on the ground. Yeah, I can see the second one too. Well, the uh Scotlandville team is going over to the sideline. They’re going to they’re going to take this moment to kind get kind of a free timeout while the officials discuss things. I tell you what, it’s a pretty nice day today. Yeah, it’s starting to get a little bit cooler. It’s still It’s still hot, but it’s not as hot. Maybe a little less humid. Is that what you would say, coach? I would say less humid and really good to play golf. Or watch a football game. So, here comes our white hat. Like I said, the the beginning of the game, you had all the penalties on Scotlandville. Now the second half, all the penalties are on the Gator. Well, they they moving this one back and but that doesn’t ne necessarily mean it’s over with. Sometimes they they move it and then they move it back. Assess one and then assess. I saw some action going on downfield blocking. Some of those maybe maybe it was a little late. Some of those gigantic offensive linemen they have have kind of kept the uh held on to their blocks maybe for an extended period of time. So there’s an unnecessary roughing. I think, like I said, I think that the offensive lineman, they’re huge and I think they’re kind of holding their blocks a little late and maybe kind of trying to knock them to the ground afterwards. We saw a pancake earlier and they were really excited about that, but maybe they’re a little too aggressive out there and I think the officials are trying to rein that back in. are running. quarterback trying to make something happen and no sack number 16 for the Gator. Cole Mroy gets two sacks here in the fourth quarter. And you know the important part of that sack, what’s that? He held on to it cuz I’m going to tell you what, the quarterback has become elusive when he gets out of that pocket and goal. Very good job right there. It’s third and 32. So, dial up your third and 32 play, coach. Uh, I can just tell you this. They’ve been successful going right down the middle. Now, the Gator have two safeties deep. You know, that means that basically manto man on the outside, but if that one of those receivers is going to try to get down the middle and that throw has to be almost perfect in there, but I tell you what, it’s how you beat two safeties deep. Yeah, they’ve split the safeties a couple of times, coach. One was dropped and then one was caught. Wellington, number seven, has been the go-to guy. He looks like he is going to be Uh, split wide right. All right. No. So, here here you have one receiver to the left. Can you just throw it to him? Sure. You know, let’s just see if he’s going to get safety help over the top. The third and 32. So, you you got some coverage. He was trying to get it to seven. And now he’s got to roll out and he’s still maybe trying to look for him. Trying to make something happen. Sacked. It’s going to be fourth and 50. And that’s your man right there, isn’t it? Yeah, it’s him. How about that? The guy ran all across the field to make a a heck of a play. Fourth and 50, coach. Number 16, Cole Mroy. Outside linebacker. Cole, outstanding job right there. You ran all the way across the field and I know you were thinking, I’m not. By the time I get over there, they going to tackle him or knock him out of bounds. Did not happen. They waited for you, son. Good job. So, you go from first and goal from the 11 to fourth and 50 from the 49 in a punting situation. [Music] Oh, look at that. Are they going to try to get it? That’s dangerous but effective. Well, and that’s I believe Rudo. Yes, it was. Yeah, Rudo. U I say yes on that. And I I don’t think I’m really right on yes, but Rudo, you know, he’s a receiver. He knows how to handle the ball. got it out of bounds. Caught it. Didn’t want it to roll back another five to eight yd, 10 yards. Now, you got to start looking at the uh timeout situation because if this drive is effective, Santa could run out the clock. Well, they’re just looking to see. Now, you got a fourman front. Oh, there’s no safeties in the middle of the field. Quarterback keeper. Right choice again. And you know what? How about a touchdown? Late flag. Late flag is coming back. And I think that that’s going to that penalty flag was thrown at about the 35 yd line. And they’ll probably assess it from that area. It’s a hold. And you didn’t have to do it, coach, because he was gone. Well, you know, I [Applause] [Music] And that’s where it was. If you saw that last I don’t know if you can get that replay again, Nolan, but if you look, I believe that the blocker had hands on the uh if you look down here on the far side. Watch this guy. I think it’s one. You got that contact right there. And I think that’s where they threw the penalty. That’s a kind of ticky tack maybe. I don’t know. That might be where it was or maybe it wasn’t. But look where they’re assessing the penalty. That has to be where it was. And now you got another flag coming down on the field. I think that uh somebody’s losing their cool out there. Well, the coaches are probably going to get one of those warnings, sideline warnings. Yeah, look. Okay, look at the replay one more time right here. And so you got those two guys grabbing each other and that’s where I think the penalty was assessed. And you know what’s frustrating here, coach, is that a lot of these penalties are kind of those dead ball on sportsmanlike type of penalties on both teams here tonight. And you know what, you just had a touchdown that that would have completely ended the game and then you get the holding call and then you kind of lose your cool after that. Got to keep your cool even if you think it was a bad call. So now it’s going to be a first and that’s going to be 25. Yes, first and 25. So they had the ball about where Madden broke it earlier. Oh, nice blocking on that too by the Yeah. right side. Good fake by Hickerson and uh it’s a fake and go. Now, if they did call the penalty on one, that was kind of a you know, I I think it might have been a little ticky tack right there, but you can’t lose your cool. Now, they’re going to say it’s first and 10. They’re going to make the make the spot at the 35. So, Santa back where they were before the touchdown. Bellazar in motion. They’re going to run the exact same play and they might get the same result. No, Taylor couldn’t hold his block and so Babin escorted out of bounds after a long run. Boy, nice job by the the guy was a little bit wide. Dick 62 pulled the trap that defensive end and was able to get him to run around the block and Cooper just had a little uh mojo going. Arm strength, not arm strength, leg strength. Yeah. And so now 428 left to go. Yeah. There’s nothing wrong with slowing this thing down. And you know, you got six seconds. two, one, and they’re going to let them get the play off. Hickerson cuts outside. Good moves, good elusiveness, nine yards, maybe eight and a half. And so that’ll run another 30 seconds, 40 seconds off the clock. Perkins and number 14 Williams on the stop for the Hornets. There’s a flag in the back field and there’s a face mask called against Scotlandville. So that’s going to be enough for a first down as we approach the fourminute mark. If you can make it a 17-point game right here, a threepos possession game, 17 or 21 Santa would win. Both teams have two timeouts. You know, you’re looking at that, you know, both teams have very good kicking game, you know, for field goals and extra points. Yes. Clock now running. They’re using the entire play clock. Quick pass. Million. Nothing doing. Tackle by number 14 for Scotlandville. Christian Williams. You know what’s the the value of that play? Runs clock. Why? This is a completed pass. Exactly. So, you and great minds think alike, right? Uh, my wife would correct you on that. I’m sure a lot of people would correct you on that for me. Second and 13 keeper. Good move. Not a first down. Two hands on the ball. It’ll be third down in about two going down. Have two hands on the ball. These are things that, you know, in film session that I love to go over. Yep. Look at that fake and go. I mean, and you know, that defensive line is just kind of standing up right there. Getting a little tired. I I I think I think the play to me would be Hickerson. Yeah, Hickerson up the middle. Two and a half yards for a first down. 12 on the play clock. They maybe can’t run out the clock on this drive, but it’s going to be close. He’s going to keep it. He might just score. It’s close. And he is in for the touchdown. Nice little fake and go right there. He faking the little pitch pitch sweep. And uh let’s see who’s pulling to see if we could get that. Not sure if we have the replay right there, but it was a good job all around. And so here you go, coach. You get your wish. Fake kick out. 62 up in there. Good 62. Allar did a good job. Man, I’m going to tell you with the receivers on the back, not the backside, the play side. Outstanding job of staying with those blocks. And now Leblon will kick the extra point. It’s going to Ladner snapping. It’s most likely going to be a win for the Gator as the kicker hits the turf as he was knocked down. No flag and it’s going to be 28-7 with 238 left to go. It looks like it’s going to be a happy homecoming for the Gator as they now pull away 28-7. And now you got the uh maybe the last chance for Scotlandville to break uh the kick return drought. [Music] Or will Santa have a perfect day on the kick returns. Well, you had one slowed down. Oh boy. Oh boy. Are they going to do it again? They’re going to do it again. I can’t believe this, coach. Oh wow. Dwayne Ben. And that’s four weeks in a row. A uh opponent has returned a kick for a touchdown. That’s Dwayne B number one. Now, are is there a penalty? Doesn’t look like it. It is a touchdown. And so now all of a sudden, Scotlandville might have a chance. Well, you know, it’s going to be it’s got to be an onside kick. Yep. That’s a shame because it looked like for a moment that Mette was going to get him, but he didn’t. I’ve been told that was an announcer Jinx. Yeah. I I hope you don’t go to any Saints games and stuff like that. Are you giving those guys jinxes also? I jinxed a lot of people and in about five hours I’m flying to Buffalo. Oh lord. Real story. It’s your story. Yep. We’re flying we’re flying out to Buffalo. Uh Patt and I we’re going to go see uh Saints play Buffalo. Good deal. It’s going to be fun though. I’m not expecting uh See, that that’s the thing. If you if you’re not disappointed, then it’s not bad. I I think that will be uh a really good trip for you. You know why? Why? I never hear Buffalo in the news or having really or having problems up there. No. You know, seems like a great place to visit. Yeah. especially in September, not in December. Here comes the extra point. Guanera and we’ll take another break. It’s 2814 as Scotlandville gets closer. You’re watching the Rev game of the week. Welcome to Rev. delivering fiber-powered technology for both your home and your business. With phone service that connects you to what’s important, internet that keeps your devices up and running. TV that delivers all the big moments. And security that protects how you live and work. All backed by local support teams right here in Louisiana. With five-star service and reliability you can count on, we’re ready to connect you to the people and places that matter most. Rev. Welcome back. And it’s onside kick time, coach, as uh Scotlandville needs two more scores. And they have two timeouts left. So maybe one possession for Santa would win it depending on how many how how much how far they go. Pretty much I would think, right? I I would say this, in my tenure here, we had a lot of on-site kicks. Yeah. And I’m going to just say if Luke Arso was kicking off right now, we got a 95% chance of recovering it. He’s that good. Really? Well, you’ve got sophomore kicker Jeremiah Guanera handle the duties and they aren’t uh they’re kind of disguising which side they’re going to go, left or right. So Santa is just waiting cross that line and get the big hop. And that’s just straight to the man. That’s even better. That’s number four. That’s Rudo. And hey, that’s the guy that we were talking about on the punt return where he said you thought it was good job of him uh grabbing that punt because he’s a receiver and he’s used to that. Guess where he kicked the ball to? And I’m going to tell you what, there’s no reason for Rudo to say, “Why don’t I just catch this one?” Because if that thing starts rolling, gets by him and starts rolling, no telling what might happen. Yep. So Santa now is one first down away from victory. Although Babin has been running free. You never know. Hickerson not running free, but you’re probably going to see a timeout as you see Scotlandville there trying to strip it. They were unsuccessful. No timeout appears to have been called. So, we’re going to get inside of two minutes or now we have a whistle. Well, now we’re done. Now the clock is running. I was going to say the clock stopped for a moment it looked like and they don’t have to snap the ball until about 1:30 about 132. And they won’t they’re not they will get it down to one I’m sure so well they did a good job of it last time. Hickerson’s going to be dropped for a loss. Now, will Scotlandville call a timeout? They apparently do not. Now, we got a whistle. There’s an injury or is a timeout? Okay, there is a Scotlandville timeout. Um, we’re going to keep it here and we can look at our schedule for next week as now we are well into district 55A play. And uh coach, you gonna be at the pit again next week for the Dutchtown game? Uh I could surely do that. All right, good. Dutchtown at Santa. That’s going to be a big one. Live Oak at EA. It’s going to be homecoming night for the Spartans. They are winning last we heard against Denim Springs. And then uh in two weeks you got EA going to play at Prairieville. And then you got to have the Ascension swim meet. A couple of weeks ago, when we broadcast at Prairieville, the Prairieville Park View Baptist game, we had Kenny Ridgdale, who’s one of the coaches. He coaches at the swim team at Prairieville and he’s one of the one of the the people that sets up this this swim meet and it’s become a big deal. Outstanding guy. Yep. And uh he’s done a good job putting together a program at Prairieville in just two years. He had a couple of guys qualify for state already. Couple of guys, couple of girls. EA wins one and0 in district. 2614. Babin keeps it. First down. Ball game. So they have one timeout and 116 on the clock and three snaps. They’re not going to be able. Yep. Tell us what happened. Bacon go. And what? Kick out. That’s a counter play. The same thing the quart the running back runs a lot of times. So it we have a whistle and I think the uh final timeout has been called by Scotlandville. And so they just have to snap the ball twice to win the game. And uh it looks like actually there. It doesn’t look like a timeout was called. It looked like the coach went to the sideline to went off the sideline to get somebody as they take a knee. And so it is a successful homecoming for Santa. And uh it was a great halftime presentation and again uh want to thank Jolie Hartman for doing all the hard work here tonight and uh getting the uh interview with homecoming queen Jade Vanette and she did a great job and she had a great interview at the end of the third quarter and uh we’re going to keep it here and we’re going to go through the handshake and everything and then we will get the alma mater and then we’ll take a break and kind of wrap things up. That’s kind of what we’re going to do right here so you don’t miss anything as far as the student section and the band will be playing the alma mada ladies and gentlemen. And so the perfect season continues for coach David Oliver and his Santa Gator. And so our final score tonight, Santa 28, Scotlandville 14. It wasn’t a an easy win for Santa as uh Scotlandville was able to be successful on offense and they had some good possession drives and they cut they cut it down to a one possession game at the end of the third quarter. Yeah. It just seems like six was not part of the offensive plan in the second half. Yeah. And and and look, when you had six most of the time and then you mixed in the quarterback maybe carrying the ball, maybe throwing the ball, it looks like that that’s when they are at their best right there. Yeah. And so, um, I, uh, I think, you know, that they can look at this film, Scotlandville, Coach Oliver, Scotlandville, and say, you know, we, we could be a pretty good football team. Yeah. You know, and then Coach Oliver at Santa, you know, first of all, staying undefeated, that’s a big deal. You know, he knows he has a good team. uh you know the the the amount of pressure that they put on the Santa defense might be a question. Uh you know running the ball a a grout great amount of times, but um I I think you know the the Gator need to come out of the homecoming dance uh enjoy themselves and get ready because next week It’s going to be Dutchtown. And let me just tell you, if they if the Gator scored third 21 points in the first half, they better be ready for the Griffins cuz they’re going to get reminded at halftime of what they did in the second half to win that game over the Santa Gator. And the Griffins won tonight 42 to7 over Prairieville after falling behind seven to nothing. So, they’re an improving team and it ought to be a great game here at the pit. And so, you see everybody gathering and again, there’s a lot of positives here tonight. There are a couple of negatives, the kick return, the late penalties, but there’s a lot of great things that happened here tonight for the Gator. There’s the homecoming queens on the front row with the players. [Music] She’s dead. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] A successful homecoming night at the pit. A beautiful day for football. Beautiful evening for football. Congratulations to the homecoming queen, Jade Vanette, as she was crowned tonight. And congratulations to the king, Rashad Williams. And they’ll have fun tomorrow night at the dance. But they had fun tonight as our final score, Santa 28, Scotlandville 14. Santa remains the only undefeated team in district 55A. That’s going to do it for our broadcast tonight. We want to thank Jolie Hartman for doing such a great job with the interviews tonight. Want to thank our coach David Swacker. Want to thank La Budro back at home in the studio. Our director tonight Nolan Waggaspach and then our camera operators Jake Voisan, Chase Henderson, Courtney Lawrence. Action Therapy and Wellness specializes in physical therapy, sports therapy, and hand therapy. Just remember, no referrals needed. Give us a call today.
